The food here is good but the service needs a lot of work. Should have realized this when we walked in and saw the manager apologizing to someone else about getting red wine spilled on them. The issue isn't a lack of waiters but they are just all appear to be new and confused. We tried to make a reservation earlier in the week for Friday night and were told they were fully booked, but we came anyway and were seated right away. This was a bit odd. The excitement was quickly diminished when it took the waitress 15 minutes to come to our table. The staff just completely ignored us as they circled themselves around the restaurant. It wasn't that busy. We actually saw 2 waiters argue over who was covering our table. So unprofessional!! I don't think we would be going back. read more

Met a friend here today to catch up over dinner. We both arrived around 6p, and while there were customers, it was certainly not busy, with plenty of tables open. We were serviced quickly and efficiently, with a wonderful staff tending to us the entire time throughout the night. Nice, simple, yet cozy ambiance. Dim lighting, and comfortable layout. The food is on the pricier side, especially considering the size of the entree for the price. Entrees are generally the mid-upper $20s, appetizers and drinks running mostly in the teens. Eating for two (with two appetizers, one entree, two sides, two drinks, and one order of ice cream) cost us around $120. We ordered the Winter Salad special, which was absolutely delicious and really fresh-tasting. Definitely could tell it was quality ingredients. My Mushroom Flatbread was equally as amazing, with a diverse combination of mushrooms and thick cheeses, it was DELISH! The Honey Orange cocktail was really good, but I'd probably skip the drinks next time, just because of the value for the price. The sweet potatoes side was uniquely made, and roasted to perfection, with just enough burnt edges to add some texture and flavor. TIP: the potatoes will come as two whole sweet potatoes cut in halves. It's enough to share, unless you can see yourself eating two whole sweet potatoes along with the rest of dinner. Dessert was cinnamon ice cream and chocolate sorbet, both of which were rich in flavor and a perfect light finish to the dinner. My friend ordered the salmon which she enjoyed, but it was smaller than I'd expected for the price. However, I would say that the portion is probably the perfect amount; just enough to be comfortable satiated and not left longing for more, but not too large that you'd have to take home leftovers. FINAL VERDICT: While it was pricier, I would still recommend the place -- perhaps more for a special occasion, or a one-off splurge. Make reservations if you can, because the place got really packed around 6:30p onwards on a Tuesday. read more

Stick to the dinner entrees. Had a fantastic experience my first time- salmon was cooked to perfection. Came here for lunch but overall average meal. We ordered the sweet potatoes which were amazingly seasoned but for the price... It's not really worth (probably one medium sized potato). The shrimp salad was $21 but not very filling or special. A little bit of lettuce and mixed greens, sprinkle of almonds and walnuts, 1/6 of an avocado and 6 pieces of shrimp . The decor is beautiful with a nice homey yet refined feeling and the service is on point. However, the food is pretty overpriced in my opinion. After all of us trying to swallow the 4 different meals we ordered, we just looked at each other and started laughing. How can you ruin steak? How can you ruin Red Snapper? Well congrats because the chef at The Little Beet gets an A for that!! Was it even steak and red snapper ???? We doubt it!! I love this restaurant! My husband and I had dinner there last night and it was great (and we are not vegan, vegetarian or gluten-free). The service is friendly and helpful and the food is excellent. We each started with the baby kale salad which had the best vinaigrette dressing and was balanced with currents and pine nuts. We then had the pan roasted chicken and the salmon, both were cooked perfectly. This is some of the best salmon I have ever had and my husband loved the way his chicken was seasoned. We also had the beets (how can you not given the name of the restaurant?!?), the acorn squash and the brussel sprouts. All were prepared with interesting flavor combinations that you don't normally see. The atmosphere is casual and inviting, definitely not stuffy. Can't wait to go back. read more

I went for brunch. The space is great, the tables are not super close to each other. The banana bread to start was warm and delicious. The LBT was also very good, although I would say the portions are small especially for the price. The waitress was very attentive to an food allergies which was nice. Being Gluten Free isn't always easy when you are a self-professed Foodie! There are some great places in NYC that offer "gluten free options" but it was SO AMAZING to walk into a great restaurant with a menu that I could choose ANYTHING and EVERYTHING on it and would be able to eat it because it's ALL Gluten Free! Now, you may think GF food doesn't taste as good, or worry if you aren't gluten free are you going to dislike it while you sit there to appease your Gluten Free friend and the answer is YOU WILL LOVE IT ALL whether you are Gluten Free or not. The Chef, Franklin Becker, came to our table to introduce himself and he is fantastic and so friendly. His story of "why" he created this fantastic menu and concept makes me want to eat there even more! I couldn't decided between all the items on the menu, there were so many that jumped out at me (did I mention I could order EVERYTHING on it??).. We had the flatbread to start and its very hard to make good gluten free bread that doesn't taste gluten free and Chef Becker has mastered it. My friends with me were not GF and they couldn't tell the difference..it was delicious! Then our main entrees arrived and I am NEVER able to finish my food.. Since I was a little kid, I have never been able to finish all the food on my plate..Well, I ate every last bite of my dish..I got the "Arroz Con Pollo" and Chef Becker's version is full of incredible flavor! We couldn't get over the flavor and couldn't stop eating it...We even got dessert (though I was WAY too full for it but couldn't resist) the cheesecake was fantastic but I will say the "pot roasted apples" were phenomenal... being GF i never get to eat apple pie but this was as close as it will come and it was divine! This may be my new favorite restaurant in the city. I will be back often. I highly recommend trying it even if you have no Gluten issues. This place is miserable. The food is decent for being gluten free, but nothing special. The real problem is the staff. The managers all seem very rude and preoccupied with things that clearly have nothing to do with the guests experience. The servers also seem very unhappy to be working there. I even overheard 2 of them talking to one another about their dislike of the management. My dining experience would've been so much more enjoyable if it hadn't been for the managers seeming upset and annoyed the entire time we were there. I prefer happy welcoming people when i go to spend money on a dinner. Tracey, one of the managers, was the one who seemed particularly mean and angry. We had a problem with our food being cold and she was extremely rude and made us feel like it was somehow our fault that we weren't served a meal we were satisfied with. She offered no apology and rolled her eyes at us as she left the table. This is unacceptable behavior coming from management at a place of business. i expected much better treatment. If you're looking for a happy positive environment to enjoy a meal, this is not the place for you. read more

they really do care about your allergies...it's that kinda place but I appreciate it even though I have no allergies...just some things don't like me that much. On to the food...love that their menu changes based on season, that's important to me. The cauliflower hummus...loved...nutty and creamy. minus 1.2 point for free bread that was toasted too much so was harder than crouton on the edges. They may just want to not toast it that much. Not a deal breaker. We ordered hangar steak and salmon. I can see why people think the portions are small but if we follow the rules, you are only supposed to eat protein the size of your palm and so I thought the portions were right, as for the price..well, it's NYC...get over it. the kale sprouts -i wanted to order 2 more, they were that good. We ended it with kona caramel, small but totally enough for 2, not too sweet, great with an espresso. very chic inside but homey, like going to your aunt's country home. It did get a little loud but I didn't mind it, I don't like stuck up quiet places. Easy to miss the tiny little sign on the front entrance. And to those asked why I didn't order the beets, i love beets but I trusted my fellow yelpers. Oh...service was excellent too. very friendly and efficeint.
