Olly Olly Market normally is closed on a Sunday but for the World Cup Final they stayed open. Wonderful for Helga and myself. We got there early and were able to get our favored seats in front of the large screen. Another screen was in the back on the side. Slowly we saw people coming in and soon it was so full with people sitting on the floor, on the tables and wherever could see the screen. Some people next to us were even sitting on their suitcases! We had a lovely time and I had pizza and a cappuccino. Seeing nearly all the games here has been so lovely as we had good seats, delicious food and met nice people. So thank you to Steve, the manager and Riley, the marketing manager. Pineapple, Arrow, Austin and Steve at the bar. Artemis who was kind to me. Andrew, Eric and Louis at Honey Pie Pizza where the arancini was toothsome. Isabella and Gilu at Forsyth Fire Escape for the tasty off the menu quesadilla and watermelon juice. Patrick for his smile. Chepy and Suleman for the tasty rotisserie chicken and flaky warm from the oven biscuits, Alex and Benny at Ploo for the tasty guacamole and blue corn chips which I have liked since the first time I ate it. Nikkei-Ish for the pork buns. These are all the places where I ate. Let's not forget cappuccinos at Drip Coffee and Bella, Anna and Cameron who were nice and I enjoyed speaking to them. 5 stars for Forsyth Fire Escape and Ploo! The market has less than a dozen vendors, but it is nice, clean and feels new. Some vendors close at 6pm on certain days so check before you go. Even the bathrooms were well maintained which in an public NYC market is high praise. We went for dinner and as a group of two tried tacos from Ploo, a margherita slice from Honey Pie Pizza, the pernil scallion pancake burrito from Forsyth Fire Escape, the pad see ew from Kinn thai and the chicken donor kebab sandwich from Kotti Berliner Doner Kebab. The tacos and burrito were definitely the best things were tried and were so good I would come back here just to get them again. We ordered one steak and one al pastor taco from Ploo. The tacos were small, but bursting with flavor. The tortilla gets a little wet from the sauce, so eat them quickly or use the fork they give you. They are a little pricey for the size ($5-6 each), but worth it. We loved both. The pernil scallion pancake burrito is as good as everyone says it is and deserves the hype. Extremely flavorful and I liked the mix of ingredients (I didn't think the queso frito (which is basically a mozzarella stick), would go, but I was wrong). My only minor comment since I like spicy food, is it could use a touch more heat. I want to try other things on their menu now since the burrito was so tasty. The doner kebab was very good (we have had it before at other locations) and a good size. The pizza and pad see ew were just okay (I found both to be lacking in flavor) and I would not feel the need to get either again. For whatever reason, it seemed like most things/entrees (beside the slice of pizza and a taco) were $16. So with tip and tax expect most things to cost you $20. The venue is spacious and they have a bunch of events during the week, we happened to be there on salsa night. Worth checking out for a quick bite or meal. read more

Chill food hall with nice open ambiance and plenty of seating. I was in the area and came for lunch, there are about 6-7 vendors here, with a variety of food and drink options. Currently this includes: Ploo Taqueria, Kinn Thai, Avant Bar (coffee and cocktails), Ddobar (Asian-inspired ala carte and omakase), Extravert (green food and juices), JM Bakery, and Little Biggs (sandwiches). While not the largest in terms of vendor options, the space is clean, open and includes some nice touches like a couple library bookshelves (with books), a fussball and billiards table. Considering the location it's also not as crowded as some other food halls. The total space takes up about 60% of the first floor of a commercial building on 11th Avenue and 26th Street, it's definitely out of the way for most. Offices occupy the upper levels of the building, so it's convenient if you work in the building or live/work nearby. I saw a sign that said tenants of the building get a discount on food court orders too. Bathrooms are available and pretty clean. read more

I got a Philly cheesesteak from Little Biggs. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The staff, especially a woman behind the counter, was so rude. I asked her a question and she just looked at me. Customer service skills were horrible. The cook acted as if I was bothering him when I was asking about the difference between the breads. What fun vibes walking into this place. It's well lit and nicely laid out with plenty of seating and things to see. Olly Olly has at least five food counters and two of which are notable finer dining vs the fast food options. Plenty of cozy seating, communal seating and a relaxed atmosphere. Picture it: a Pool table, library, full bar, etc marketplace of food. What's not to like?! I came here to dine at DDOBAR and what a fantastic dining experience it was. Olly Olly is a nice food market. There was a private event while l visited, so it may be a good spot to reserve for group/corporate events. Aside from those folks, it was quite empty and I was almost confused if some of the vendors were still open (the lights were on but I didn't see anyone behind the counter, maybe they were on break). There is a large dining area space with tables, chairs, and a pool table too! We had a group meetup of about 10 people, so we pushed tables together in the dining space, and basically had the entire room to ourselves since not many others were around. I ordered food from the Thai place which was good, and the Market offered water cups by the bar, which came in clutch. I liked this as a meeting spot; the closest subway stop is probably Hudson Yards. It has a lot of food options and ample space to dine there, for either the specific vendors, or in the dining hall. read more

Definitely not as crowded as other locations and much easier to find a place to sit down at. There are a several vendors for food options and also a bar for happy hour after work. They have a pool table and other games to entertain yourselves as well. Some of the vendors recently opened so always good to come back to check out some new places. We had dinner at DDOBar omakase right next to Bar Avant (they are two different establishments). The omakase dinner was excellent. Inventive and delicious. The club-level music at Bar Avant was blasting so loud it was hard to hear our server. Please turn it down so everyone in the market can enjoy their meal. read more

I'm really loving the proliferation of cool food courts in NYC - this one is no exception, especially as it houses the ultra-hyped Forsyth Fire Escape. If not for FFE, I probably wouldn't have heard of this food court, and I would've been majorly missing out. I came here a few days after opening and I was surprised to see that it's quite empty - maybe because its location is not super convenient? It's a beautiful space, and I would definitely hang out here more. The first time I went around 4:30 PM, FFE was already sold out, My friend and I opted to try a few vendors - DDOBAR, Pizza Friendly Pizza, and Ploo. The second time I went, I was able to snag a burrito from FFE on a Tuesday around 1:30 PM. Ploo - The Army of Meat taco was really amazing, though $7.50 is a bit steep for a taco. I would definitely get this again because it was very good. The Tongue n' Cheek was okay but I don't think I'd get it again. We got the Bone Marrow Salsa ($11.95) for free randomly because they apologized that our tacos took so long - it wasn't an issue for us, but they were really nice. DDOBAR - I've been to Yubu in the East Village before ($3.50-$4 for each yubu) and I loved it, so I was curious to try this place with slightly more elevated yubu ($5-7). Unfortunately, most of the ones we wanted were already sold out. We got four but I don't think any of them were particularly memorable, so I'll have to go back for the ones I actually wanted. I love that they provided finger gloves because I ended up using them for all the food we got. Pizza friendly pizza - We got the white anchovy pizza ($5.50), and I enjoyed the focaccia-like aspect of the pizza, though it definitely felt more like a focaccia with toppings than pizza. I couldn't really taste the white anchovy, unfortunately, and I would probably just get a different slice next time. Forsyth Fire Escape - I was most excited for this because of all the hype, and I was able to snag 3 burritos and a coconut thai iced tea to wash it down. One burrito is definitely a lot ($14), and I couldn't eat dinner that night because I was so full, so it's definitely a good price. It tastes exactly as good as you'd imagine, so I would recommend it, but I was personally a little disappointed because I've made a pretty similar dish (scallion pancake quesadilla + coconut adobo short rib + caramelized pickled onions + lao gan ma mayo + guacamole + pepper jack) and I realized that I can easily make this at home as well. I'm not upset that I tried it though because I'm happy that this is so doable at home. I felt the same way about the coconut thai iced tea ($6) because I've never thought of that combination, but this is also very doable at home. Overall, the food is solid and the space is gorgeous and currently still very empty despite having opened a few weeks prior. If I'm looking for a place to chill with a bunch of friends, I would definitely suggest Olly Olly. Service at every place I went to was excellent, and the food was very solid. read more

Olly Olly is sort of hidden in this industrial new stretch just outside of Chelsea. I found this market due to the hype of the Scallion Burrito sold at the Forsyth Fire Escape. Like most markets, the place is airy, new, and has plenty of open seating and clean bathrooms. Plus it has a nice big bar and a perfect place to meet with groups. I focused on just the 1 item and was a bit disappointed with this burrito. Scallion pancakes, is a Chinese flatbread that I used to make as a kid. I may have liked the individual components but almost at $17, definitely not worth it. All the pancakes are pre-made so it's cold and hard and then it's topped off with what appears to be pulled pork, cheese and sauce. Overall, an underwhelming experience. Mostly because it wasn't made on the spot. Anyway, the review is more towards FFE, but there are other options out. Found the prices on the higher end, but seems to be on par with most Food Halls. read more

A spanking new food hall opens in the Starrett Lehigh building something that building always screamed for.There's a really nice variety of vendors many still unopened. There was a dj on Wednesday and a convivial atmosphere. It's a stylish interior in a grand space. I have to say a little RIP for deco market sad the pandemic overruled it. I went for the soft opening without realizing it was their soft opening. I can't wait to go once everything is open Went around 630 pm and most the stores were closed. The bar, pizza place and ddo bar (yubu tart) were the only places open. Forsyth fire escape (scallion pancake burrito) sold out and was closed. Really wanted to try that... well I wanted to try all the restaurants lol. Anyway, got to talk to the founder without knowing she was the founder. I was super impressed with yubu tart. I didn't think yubu could be that good. It was soooooo good. The portions were perfect. It is a little salty for me but I think most would think it's perfectly seasoned. I loved that it wasn't overly stuffed with rice although I love the basic yubu with rice lol. I loved the toppings I tried and def want to try other ones. The earl grey soft serve was also really good! I love earl grey desserts and I love icy and not too creamy soft serve. It's more like McDonald's soft serve and not Dairy Queen/Rita's. I feel like it was the perfect ending to the meal. I want to try everything there. The chef we talked to was also so kind :) THEY HAVE FINGER GLOVES!!! The pizza place was good! Tried the pepperoni and it was gooood :) crispy bottom and lots of sauce and pepperoni. The mushroom fennel was good too. Bar is cute. Service is good! I told the bartender I didn't like my drink too sweet so he said he could make the drink without simple syrup :) appreciated that and the drink was good. Got the drink with the sparkling Fuji apple. They also have non alcoholic drinks available :) I cannot wait to try the other places and go back to the places I've tried. Bathroom is pretty! We ventured into this location to check out the pizza spot that everyone was raving about, specifically the friendly pizza, but this Saturday, it was dead and did not see the pizza spot. Even though their name was listed on the vendor list, we did not see their sign I think since the hours on Yelp says it's closed on Saturdays, it is a complete blow to getting people in there. On the website, it says the hours are 12 to 8 on Saturdays. Therefore, this conflicting information is problematic. The space has so much potential, but there was an energy in the place. Hopefully, they will revampt themselves and get more traffic in the place. read more

I only come here for Forsyth Fire Escape with their mouth watering signature offering, the Scallion Pancake Burrito. As for the market itself, my main gripe is that it's not convenient to get to. You have to do a fair amount of walking cause none of the public transportation routes close to it. But hey, I'm sure those close by are being served well. read more

Go check out Shmackwich at the Olly Olly Market. This is a black owned business making an amazingly savory wagu chopped cheese. They flipped it and reversed it on the old school NYC classic. Go get some. You will not be disappointed with the flavor. There are other vendors to support at the market but m, my mission was to go and specifically check out the ever talked about Shmackwich chopped wagu. I've been meaning to checkout this food hall for a while, but it's pretty out of the way from subway lines and in-between Hudson yards and Chelsea Market. It's a really clean and nice dining hall but there are pretty limited options. Only 2 places were open when I was there early Monday evening. So a friend from New York took me here, with a lot of build up about how these burritos from Forsyth Fire Escape were stuff of legend a couple of months ago, and getting your hands on them was as coveted as whatever new water bottle fad is the rage these days. Olly Olly was empty when we showed up on a Monday night, so I'm glad peace has reigned. We got a scallion pancake burrito each, and to his immense joy, I was only able to finish half of mine. I loved the flavours in the burrito - the pernil wasn't fatty, but so juicy and delicious, the fried queso blanco provided both textural and spice numbing contrast, and the guac was done well. My only complaints would be 1) this is a fairly greasy meal, and pretending otherwise would be doing a disservice to yourself and 2) the scallion pancake was a little cold, and crunchy rather than crispy. I'd be happy to have this filling in a tortilla so it's less oily, or to reheat this with abandon after a night out. read more

If you're near Chelsea market or Chelsea Piers, I think it's something cool to go to, but otherwise it's so far from the train station! Luckily, they're doing a 6 month residency here, so your chances of getting a burrito are much higher. Based on their instagram though, they're still selling out by 4pm ish. The market is super clean, modern, and has nice bathrooms in the attached building. It houses other restaurants like pizza, coffee joint, ddobar (yubu), and even a bar. But meee?? I def went for the burrito! Unfortunately, they're all premade and not made on the spot. But it was still worth a try! The pancake is filled with pernil, cheese, and guac. It was quite oily, but as expected! Scallion pancakes are fried unlike tortillas. There was an explosion of flavors from all the components, but I do wish it was made to order and hottt I'd say check out the market if you're in the area, but I probably won't be going back any time soon read more

Came to the market to try the famous scallion pancake burrito. There is less than 10 food places but a diverse amount of food inside. There's a bar and a decent amount of seating inside and restrooms. The scallion burrito was just okay to me. Meat was a lil dry and the scallion pancake was thicker than I expected which there was more cheese. BUT their lemongrass chili sauce is delicious! Headed to Shmacked for their wagyu chopped cheese and damn that place is pricy for the amount! It is super good though. Wish they advertised that there was hot honey on the buns. The location is on the west side next to the west side highway. It might not be the most centric location, but it is easy to find and navigate, especially if you are driving from NJ. Major disappointment. I came here on a Monday that I recently took off of work specifically to check out this food hall. Despite arriving during prime lunch time (1 pm), every single stall I was excited to check out was closed. In fact, I counted five places total that were closed in the food hall! Not one sign on the door of the hall nor indication from any of the businesses at their specific stalls that they'd be closed that day. It got worse - the stalls that were actually still open either had "be right back" signs at the register or extremely long lines as all the other people who came here for lunch had to choose from only a handful of options. I decided to just cut my losses and head somewhere else to find lunch. I was seriously annoyed after making the trek here from Brooklyn that not even one spot I was excited about was open, especially considering all 3 of the places I wanted to try included Monday lunch in their online hours. I could be more understanding if these businesses or the food hall themselves took a moment to alert customers of a change in hours (an instagram story can go a long way...) before I spent an hour on the subway/walking. I'd also totally understand if it was just one place, but five places closed during prime hours seems like a serious problem that needs to be addressed. Quite frankly, I wouldn't bother coming back here again. Way too far out of the way to risk having to walk all the way here, end up disappointed, and then walk back to Hudson Yards or Chelsea to find somewhere else to eat. I love going to lil Biggs spot, the customer service is exceptional. They are friendly and helpful, and completely care about your needs! They offer different types of breakfast and lunch. JM Bakery at Olly Olly's got you. My husband and I walked in just to get a beverage and ended up with two donuts and a cookie and they were absolutely phenomenal. Everything in there looked delicious, from the super thick Sicilian slices to the wagyu cheese and so on, but JM Bakery greets you right when you walk in, and you should not leave that place until you've gotten a taste of their baked bliss. I wish I'd gotten a photo--their baked goods are also a feast for the eyes. But as soon as I took a bite, the donuts and cookie disappeared. Think perfectly balanced flavors, melt-in-your mouth creaminess, soft, decadent crumbling. I could've drank and entire smoothie worth of the passionfruit filling. And the chocolate chip cookie wasn't warm or anything, but the chocolate chips were still melty inside. Witchcraft!! The chocolate cruller was good, but a bit chewier than I would've liked. The chocolate frosting and crunchy bits on top though? Top notch. I need to come back and try everything at this market, as well as JM Bakery's other baked goods. Red bean croissant? What? With the exception of 2-3 shops, we strolled in here at 7:15pm to find most of the vendors closed for the day (even though the market lists 8pm as closing time). The place seems pretty neat. They have lots of comfy seating areas. But let me tell you the reason why I'm here...for Shmackwich. I saw someone review them on Instagram and I said I have to go try their chopped cheese which has wagyu beef. Saw the prices on the menu and it was a bit pricey but considering the area and the quality of beef I was still game to try it out. I got a Big Boy with a Dussé Colada and wasn't disappointed. The Big Boy was well seasoned and blended well with the toppings. The Dussé Colada was very tasty and put in an adult Capri Sun container. Overall it was a great pairing. The staff was very friendly and assured me it was gonna Shmack...and it did. Please keep in mind that this review is mainly for Shmackwich and not for other food vendors in this market. read more
