Great alternative to Eleven, which wouldn't seat 8 of us while we waited for 2 more to show. Huh? Anyway, I called Little Branch and they set a table for us and were ready and waiting, and didn't care that the other two people showed 10 minutes later. "HiddenGem.Cute.Local.Cozy" I had the breakfast burrito with egg whites and a side of chicken sausage. It was pretty tasty and big enough for 2.. but I didn't like the food as much as the atmosphere. This place is nestled in the back of an apartment/housing complex and is just conducive for catching up with friends or relaxing away from life's muss and fuss. A local's honeycomb hideout. The people are very nice and the prices are pretty reasonable.. I would place it between $-$$ depending on what you order. Seating is first come first serve, but there seems to be good rotation. We had brunch here last weekend. This is in one of the condo buildings. You must order first and then you seat yourself and wait for your food to come out. The menu was a bit sparse but the place is small so I wasn't expecting a full-on restaurant menu. The food was good, the staff was nice, and the place is cute but it was way expensive. We spent $40 for an omelet, a breakfast burrito, and a coffee. If that is your thing, this place would be great for you but.... personally, maybe next time I will stick to somewhere more basic. read more

Nice little hidden place in the Southloop. It's at the bottom of a large condo building do you have to know what you're looking for in order to find this place. The inside is a nice cozy place to dine. Ordered the breakfast burrito with bacon, yet the bacon was not included. The rest of the ingredients in the burrito were pretty bland and it did not have much taste. There were many things on the menu so this place may warrant another visit soon; however, the first experience was not so great. read more

Great little neighborhood gem. Smoothies are da bomb. They have regular brunch stuff - ur eggs and pancakes, etc and also lunch items. Its very reasonably priced. They have a ful bar and drink specials - $5 for mimosas and bloody marys on saturdays and sundays!!! Wohee!! They serve Metropolis coffee - not a big fan but theyre local and def beats Starbucks! ;) The place is tiny but does have about 12 or so tables. Best French toast in Chicago. Hands-down. The French toast is rich rather than sweet. Tastes like lots of egg yolks and butter were used. Egg fritata sandwich also looked huge and delicious. Savory bold coffee, good food, kind staff & quiet location. Those are some of the qualities of Little Branch Cafe hidden amongst the condos of One Museum Place. It's only negative is no parking. Luckily we live close enough to ride our bikes. We had a veggie sandwich that was very generous on the avocado. It was complimented with alfalfa sprouts & a horse radish sauce. Our other sandwich was a Breakfast Frittata with bits of bacon & eggs that seemed very light but yet heavy on taste. Another nice touch is self serve cucumber water. Bloody Marys at the Little Branch are just OK, but the food and atmosphere make up for it. I always get the lox and bagel platter...the salmon is so fresh, you may choose from a wide variety of bagels, and they even include pickled onions. It's a huge portion, so sharing is always an option. My friends ordered the breakfast burrito and oatmeal. I tried the burrito, and it was really tasty. I didn't try the oatmeal, but apparently it's the "best" she's ever had. Ever. The service is sometimes slow, and I'm not really a fan of ordering at a counter, but all-in-all, it's a great spot for brunch. Cute interior, too. read more

This little gem is tucked away in the sides streets of the South Loop, but I highly recommend coming here. I've had their sandwiches, breakfasts, and coffee, and I've been barely disappointed. Alll the paninis are delicious, and the breakfasts are hearty. I highly recommend the chorizo breakfast burrito. This hearty meal has a good chunk of chorizo with a killer chipotle aioli sauce. The only thing I've been disappointed with in this cafe is the marscarpone stuffed french toast. When I first came here a few years ago, the french toast was decadent and thick. I came here recently with a few friends a few months ago, and the french toast was super thin...like regular sandwich bread slices. Quite disappointing. My friend and I walked into this cafe on a Saturday morning. The place is small but does have outdoor seating available. The staff is friendly and the service is quick. The dishes we ordered were both amazing. The turkey Reuben with sauerkraut and the macarpone stuffed French toast. The coffee was OK nothing out of the ordinary. It was a bit busier than normal (according to others I talked to while waiting, and the owner). The food was really good, portion size was nice (I had the mascarpone french toast), as the stratta was sold out for the day. I also had the lavender chai latte, which was excellent. They are very accommodating for trying to seat parties, although i don't really recommend going there in groups bigger than 4 on the weekend. They just got their liquor license and are building their bar. If you have any suggestions, the Choi sisters are open to adding it! Five stars for breakfast and brunch, but only 2, maximum 3 stars for dinner. The brunch menu may not be huge, but I have tried almost every item, and the quality and flavor are on par, and most often than not above, those that you can find at more famous places such as Yolk. Way to go! Where Little Branch Cafe fails, for me, is at dinner. The menu doesn't change enough from brunch, you are still eating mostly sandwiches. You still have to order standing at the counter... Personally, I don't think there is enough differentiation compared to brunch. And the prices for beers and wine are very high compared to everything else, higher than in other "real" upscale restaurants. So, all in all, an excellent place for brunch and breakfast, and a not so great spot for dinner. read more

I got very hungry the other night and didn't feel like going to my usual place on the north side. So I tried out the Little Branch. This is a small, family owned place and they make everything to order. I had the mac and cheese and it was just excellent. My dining companion had the croque madam crepe, which was excellent as well. I probably had too much expectation. The Chai tea latte was too blend. I could taste neither chai nor espresso from it. I complained to the owner, I believe, who made me the latte and she strongly insisted that that's how it's supposed to taste like. I ended up leaving almost the entire cup of latte. I had croissant sandwich and french toast with blueberry compote. They were okay. They were not bad but also not as good as how all the yelp reviewers praised for. I agree with some of the recent reviews regarding Little Branch Cafe's overall declining service. I came here when it first opened (I live in the neighborhood) and it was under the original owners who were very friendly and the food and service were amazing. It reminded me of a small cafe in Paris. This is no longer the case since it was sold to new owners a couple of years ago. The quality of the food and service are no longer what it used to be and from some of the reviews I've read they are losing the customers. I no longer come here although I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt many times. read more
