Been here twice now. I love the 'vibe' and it's very old school, almost art deco look. The food is very OK and the drinks are as well. I did find the service a bit uneven. Our first visit there the service was good, our second was borderline OK. I couldn't help but notice some fellow in a Hawaiian shirt who seemed like he might be some sort of manager (just guessing.. maybe just a regular customer who knew everyone) did nothing to help which might have made it easier for the waitstaff to be more on top of things. We have been coming to Little DOM's for three years now. Every time we visit Carpenteria, we make sure we get our trip in. We love the meatballs, the rice balls, the gumbo, and our kiddo loves the pizza. I always get the fish piccata, and the lemon caper sauce is just the right amount of sauce for a fish. My fish is always cooked to perfection. Additionally, I don't know who they have employed behind the bar, but that bartender makes some of the best drinks. Very refreshing. This time we had a spill from our kiddo and they were so kind and helpful and cleaning up with us. There was so much talk when the rumor mill started in regards to Little Dom's Seafood coming to Carpinteria. There was excitement due to it's excellent reputation in the LA area. During the beginning of Covid, my husband and I partook in their takeout option and ordered their pizza, Kumamoto Oysters, Oysters on the Half Shell, and Sea Urchin. Of all, we enjoyed. We would set up on backyard and pretend we were having an al fresco dinner. It help us cope with not dining in at restaurants. In my mind, they live up to the hype. Their drinks and Smoked Fish Rillettes are, well, there are no words for them. The rillettes jump and exploded in my mouth. The tastes and textures truly blended well together. The dipping bread is a carboholic dream. The Arugula salad, with olive oil and coarse sea massage into the greens, is divine . There was a lot of partying in mouth during my meal. Delicious food for a reasonable price. Great atmosphere and friendly service. My wife and I came around noon on a Friday. I ordered the meatball burger ($13) with a side of potato balls ($3) and she got the chicken sandwich ($14) with a clarified jungle bird drink ($14). The food came quickly and was amazing. With plenty to eat besides seafood, little Dom seafood was a match made on Bumble date heaven . Two lovers, one from Ventura the other from Santa Barbara deciding to meet halfway in Carpenteria for their first date. I'm giving this place five stars first and for most because it's literally bringing chef centered food paired with an actual wine list to the tiny town Carpenteria. So despite having more stringent standards for restaurants in other cities Little Dom's Seafood totally hit that spot for me. My date asked if he could chose the restaurant, and after six months of chatting on Instagram I was just ready to meet but feeling like I was setting him up for failure. We all know Carpenteria was never really known as a culinary hotspot or place to go for a later dinner. Which is why I was pleasantly surprised to find we were able to book a reservation for 8 PM! Not only this but little Dom's had a nightly special and a decent wine list AND a desert menu made by a pastry chef!! We ordered: -The arugula and Parmesan salad. This was exactly as it sounds appropriately dressed but would have loved a little fresh lemon slice or lemon juice to add a bit of acidity to the richness umami of the Parmesan and nutty bitterness of the fresh arugula -Technically titled, "The Rice Balls" Which I've affectionately renamed reconstructed risotto. -The Tuesday night Special of short rib sugo ragu and homemade pasta - The Coffee Chocolate Tort topped with a dollop of fresh whip. I certainly appreciate the pastry chefs creativity on doing something other than a chocolate lava cake or brownie, but this cake missed the mark with me. It was greedy and lacked moisture. I'm curious to see what else the chef can do. I had come from a full day at the sunbathing on the beach so I was not prepared to dive into the wine but I saw a $20 bottle of Montepulciano and a Trebbiano (both Italian wines from the Abruzzo region of Italy) which tells me there Is a wine professional on staff making educated food and wine pairing decisions!! I did not interact with any wine professional ( Although our waitress did mention she was given training Tasting, props to little Dom for trying!) so it could be that their wine director works from the LA location of this restaurant or maybe the chef is really good at what he does but either way I am certain that the wine list is Sommelier driven. This choice to pair of Italian Short Sugo and Montepulciano d'abruzzo ( Montepulciano is the name of the grape not to be confused with the wine region) is a match made in heaven And speaks to the possibilities of what restaurants can do creatively using professionals from around the world virtually to help drive there cuisine to the next level. read more

Good atmosphere but I would say that this place is more for socializing, drinking, and appetizers. We went after a family event and ordered a good amount of food. The menu was limited so we basically had to get a few pizzas, squid ink pasta, fish (I forgot which one), and cacio e pepe. Overall the pasta was very oily, heavy, and almost a little too salty? I had to drink water between each bite...My mom had the fish and she said it was solid. As for the pizzas, they don't have anything other than a margherita pizza base, so we spent $$$ on 4 pizzas with different toppings that still tasted the same in the end. All the pizzas were dry and flavorless. I expected more from a higher end/priced place. We only had one appetizer which was the arancini. That was absolutely delicious. Since I believe in the appetizers, enjoyed the environment, and was able to walk to the beach after, I gave it 3 stars. I wouldn't recommend going if you're trying to actually eat! read more

First two times I came here, I wasn't super impressed. Thought it was expensive for what it was. However, we stopped in tonight as it was one of the few places in Carp that stays open passes 830 and had a really great meal. We started with the little neck clams which were sweet and delicious. Then, the fish and chips for the main were great - the "chips" were little smashed potatoes that had a nice crisp to them. On top of all that, our server, Riley, was a gem. The less good - my friend and I hadn't seen each other for over 3 years, so we SPECIFICALLY asked the server to pace/course our meal. Our mains were dropped by a food runner before we had even finished both our appetizers. And he didn't even speak to us. And he didn't clear the app we had finished with. As a server, if you have an overeager kitchen that fires everything all at once as soon as a ticket comes in, then you have to either a) communicate with the kitchen or b) course the table yourself and put in the mains after you clear the apps. It's not that hard. It's attention to detail - and unless you're waiting tables at Applebee's, ensuring your table has the experience they've specifically requested is an essential part of the job. I was surprised by how chill this place is and it did not yet show up on Yelp. We were walking the shops along Linden Avenue and we stopped in for a Bloody Mary ($14.00) and a Margarita Pizza ($10.00). The prices were very good considering the location being in a tourist town. But what I think set it apart was the excellent service from our server Leah and the general niceness of the staff. The Bloody Mary was spot on and Pizza is definitely worth trying. Nestled in the heart of downtown Carpinteria, Little Dom's seems like a very well run operation with particularly diligent attention paid to COVID precautions (hand sanitizer everywhere, cleaned and labeled pens for takeout, etc.) and welcoming layout of very well-spaced outdoor dining tables. That said, our feelings about the food were a mixed bag. The tonnarelli cacio e pepe had great flavors from the black pepper, yet it was oddly bland especially when compared to the iterations that my wife and I had in Rome. Similarly, the squid ink mafaldine's flavors came almost entirely from its red chili flakes and neither of us could discern any uni butter that it's supposed to have per the menu description. Both pastas were cooked to a fine al dente, yet the portions were awfully small for the price. Moving onto the pizzas, our margherita was quite a letdown. The quality of the tomato sauce and mozzarella was evident, however the crust's thinness and the overcooking made for a cracker-like consistency. If this was meant to be a Neapolitan-style pie, they unfortunately missed the mark. Suffice it to say, my wife and I were left still quite hungry after nearly $60 of food. Came here for a big anniversary. Everyone seems to love it in LA so I thought we'd try this location in sleepy Carpinteria. It's charming here. The inside is classic and old looking with a great bar and nice leather booths. Very cozy, very cool. We started with the grilled artichoke... it was pretty solid. The crispy potatoes were insane. So far so good! But the chicken parm was flavorless... the fish piccata... tres mediocre. I thought a place as storied as Little Dom's would have an insane chicken parm, but alas, no. Damn! Romantic night at the new Little Dom's seafood in Carpinteria. Little Dom's has been a long time staple in Los Feliz. So glad they came here!! Fun outdoor seating, just a short stroll to the beach. We enjoyed Wood Oven Roasted Fish (Salmon), rice balls, wood oven Roasted carrots with fennel pollen Yogurt Carrots. Also had grilled artichoke. This place sure did check all the boxes! Dinner served on a 900 degree plate. CHECK 3rd degree burns on your lips, tongue, roof of mouth and esophagus. CHECK Plating melting the table top. CHECK Being forced to eat slower than Uncle Matt. CHECK I assume the chicken parm is something to write home about, it did smell delicious, but my taste buds were seared slightly past well done after the first through third bite (30 minutes later) so I'll have to come back for round two after my esophagus transplant is completed. They care very much about what food and drink they're putting on the table and are there to serve the customer. I really appreciated the vibe in the tastiness of the food. We ordered a half dozen of Kumamoto oysters, the creole boiled shrimp - basically shrimp cocktail with a little bit of a kick - The halibut piccata with asparagus which was mild but very delicious I could've used a little more lemon myself but it was great, then we got a meatball burger with provolone and pickled green tomatoes which we split, and a Caprese salad that was divine. After some beach time and a stroll through the farmer's market we ended up at Doms. It was 3pm and place was pretty empty and staff was preparing for dinner. We ordered off the happy hour menu. I had an old fashioned and wife had a rum drink. Both were tasty with a generous pour. We shared rice balls, meatballs, and a pizza. All were delicious. We ordered and split the fish picata. Halibut came out perfectly cooked and seasoned with asparagus. We split the lemon dessert which was tasty. Service was excellent. We didn't get her name, she is a blonde gal, about 30 years old. Was passing by Carpinteria on a Sunday and decided to have some lunch at Little Dom's based on a quick search on Yelp. It's small and intimate, and they offer both inside and outside seating. We chose inside since it was a bit too hot for us to stay out that day. For my libation, I decided on the Mermaid since the waitress mentioned that it's one of their famous drinks. I ordered it and it reminded me of Aperol Spritz. Tasted almost the same. For food, my husband had the Fish sandwich (burger) which he loved, and I had the Cacio e Pepe. The pasta didn't come with any protein so I asked if I could add some shrimp to it which the waitress confirmed I could. But when it came out, I got the pasta dish with no shrimp on it. They said that it actually comes on the side and it's just boiled shrimp. I mentioned that I thought it would be cooked together with the pasta, which they then stated and they don't do any customizations like that, it will always come on the side. They didn't offer to put it together for me, I would just have to get it as a side and put it on the pasta dish myself. So that was disappointing. Would've been nice if they mentioned that while I was ordering. So that was my minus star for this review. I mean, a simple addition to protein is not much of a customization, I really wasn't asking for much. But other than that, the pasta was good and cooked well. All in all, it's a nice Italian restaurant, nothing to rave about in my opinion, but maybe the choices are quite limited in Carpinteria so perhaps it's as good as you can get there. read more

So nice to have a date night spot to go to in Carpinteria. I'm a fan of the original Little Dom's in LA, so naturally I was excited to have one locally. The rice balls are a delicious starter option. Food we ate: Smoked salmon with Burrata & crispy bread......try that! Really good. Spaghetti and meatball: a favorite...safe, always good, great for picky eater... Wood Roasted line caught Salmon with wild rice and dark greens- so good, I didn't even leave any trace of it on my plate.
