This was the place to buy menudo back in the day. Not anymore unfortunately it's just not the same . You get a tiny "large" container of this hangover cure. The broth needed much adjustment (salt and lemon lots) just lacking consistency and flavor. Now I'm not a menudo connoisseur but my momma is! Service was fast and nice but not going back

So me and my friend were craving some Birria saw this place and decided to stop by since it said Birria with handmade tortillas. So we stopped in. the first sign should've been that they have no prices on their menu up on the wall, which is OK but we failed to ask what the prices were before we ordered so this is what we ordered, a medium plate of Birria didn't know it came only with 2 tortillas small at that, My friend ordered three tacos with handmade tortillas for herself and then two small tacos for her young boy with regular tortillas, 2 Horchata one being small one medium they almost looked the same size as in small and a can of Coke for me Bill came out to be almost $60. I was in AWE and this place is not even a restaurant. It's a small fast food as it's very tiny inside only two tables and another small table I could have never imagined the prices would've been up the roof. I was not happy about that as the owner I believe he does not give an itemized receipt nor doesn't tell you what you're paying for so I asked him for an itemized receipt of what he charged us because it was super pricey, so I asked him to give me the itemized receipt so he gave it to me and I said to him you charged me $25 for a medium sized bowl of Birria with two small handmade tortillas not even including the can of coke which was $3.50 and he was kind of rude about it. He's like yeah inflation and I'm like dude that is really expensive for this bowl of Birria and two tortillas $30 for those two items. My friend got charged $17 plus, for her 3 tacos and $8 plus, for two small tacos and the horchatas were $4.75 for medium which looked like a small and the small one was $3.50 and looked like an xtra small I think he was making up the prices as he was taking the orders . So yes total was $59 and he still had the audacity to say he gave us a $4 discount and is nowhere on the receipt. Now I know why it was empty food was not to par with the prices terrible I told him never again will I leave my hard earned money at his place ever again. He had no remorse about the charges like I said the food was not even good so I guess I should've looked at the stars before I walked in there.. I hope people will read this before they go into that establishment. Terrible food and prices along with it ... and the owner is a scavenger!

Two street style tacos of Adobada and two a-Mano (handmade). The handmade are bigger than the street tacos

This has been the only place I come to buy tacos de Adobada (marinated pork). The adoba just reminded me of tacos I've only had in Mexico. I've coming here all of my adult life. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back. I don't mind paying for a good taco, but they have priced their items way too high for the people they serve in the area. My tacos were not as flavorful as they've been in the past. The taco seemed to be served the same, but the quality of the meat is also no longer the same. The customer service was great, but the Coke bottle was $5. That's kind of outrageous when you sit outside near a dumpster. Don't forget to order from the window on the right side of the building.

    No pricing on the menu.

This place has gone downhill--dirty, overpriced, and just not worth it. A burrito that used to be under $10 is now a shocking $20, and the quality doesn't justify the price. If you used to be a regular, you're better off staying away unless they clean up and bring their prices back to reality. If you don't mind overpaying and eating from a questionable kitchen, then maybe this place is for you--but I won't be back.

this place is my go to spot for Menudo. Their Menudo is always fresh always so good there's not one time I disliked it. Very friendly staff very clean. Thank you so much hopefully be back real soon.

This place use to be a go to, besides it being overpriced which isn't the bigger problem- there's hair in the food.

The people who work there are so friendly and kind, and the food is amazing. I still remember the crema de chicharron soup that I had the first time we went, and the chile en nogada and enchiladas tres moles are so delicious--they're my family's favorites, but you really can't go wrong. It's so hard to describe what makes them so wonderful; you taste so many different ingredients and yet the flavors balance so perfectly. Whatever the soup of the day is, you should get it; they're all delicious, especially the crema de chile poblano. My wife and I don't live close by, so we can only make it out here every few months. But for years, it's been our place to come for date nights or special occasions--birthdays, anniversaries--and you only have to look around the restaurant to know that it's the same for many other families, too. It's a beautiful and welcoming place to come, with so much art and often live music; it just feels full of life on a busy dinner shift. During the pandemic, we were still coming here when nobody was eating indoors; we'd drive an hour to Bell, pick up our take-out, and eat in the car. And in the middle of all the grief and uncertainty of that time, it was still such a treat. More than a treat; something joyful and soulful in such a hard time. We went to La Casita last night for our anniversary, and we saw Chef Jaime chatting in the parking lot with a friend (who turned out to be an artist working on murals for the restaurant). We recognized him and said a quick hi, and we were going to keep walking, because we didn't expect that he'd know us. But he recognized us, even though it's been a while, and he was so warm and welcoming. He even called the restaurant to order us a glass of wine on the house for our anniversary. We were really touched. And, as always, we had a delicious dinner and fabulous time. If you've never been, I hope you give La Casita a try. We love it so much, and I think you will, too. P.S. Get the jamaica margarita.

For us, that's El Ranchito in Huntington Park. It's a family-owned, authentic Mexican restaurant that has had the community on its back for the last 6 decades. They hand-make the tortillas right in front of you, serve up fresh chunky guac, and make their iconic Mama Avila's soup fresh daily. It's rare that a soup has me hitting a stank face, but here we are. The Camarones al mojo de ajo is a can't miss appetizer. It's succulent shrimp sauteed in butter and fresh garlic, made to be eaten with the piping hot homemade tortillas. They have all the traditional Mexican dishes, my brothers go to is the chile relleno, but I always just run the fajitas. I'm sure I'll get clowned for this, but nothing heals my trauma and existential dread like a plate of sizzling fajitas. My pops has worked in the area for longer than I've been alive, so El Ranchito has seen every iteration of me, and of my family. For that, I am grateful. The meatballs are tender and have a perfect flavor profile of herbs and spice. Honestly, nothing disappoints here. The Pollo in Mole is also delicious. The tortillas are fresh and hand made. The Pollo con Rajas is creamy, cheesy, flavorful and the chicken has always been juicy underneath all that sauce, cooked perfectly. Service is attentive, the food has its charm with in-house made tortillas. It really was a hard review to write because all the elements of a great restaurant is embodied in this hidden gem. I chalk it up to ordering the wrong items. The flavors did not pop for me. Hubby opted for the chorizo and he said it was decent and he described it as "diet chorizo"--that he'd probably needed to go back to Sinaloa to capture the true essence of "real" chorizo, the way it's meant to be. The star of his meal was the in-house made flour tortillas-now that's authentic! This is/was the reason that it leaned towards a 4 star. These looked and tasted phenomenal. The aroma took me back to the times when we visited Rosarito's Puerto Nuevo, as the lady made the tortillas by hand & pressed them in the comal, ahh, good times. I ordered the vegetarian omelette with beans & potatoes. The omelette was decent with fresh bell peppers & onions but the seasoning was so mild that I requested for salt & pepper. The potatoes appeared well seasoned in color but lacked that oomph that salt & pepper couldn't fix. My apple pancakes were average. While I appreciated the strawberry compote, there was no apple or apple taste in them. To wash everything down, I had cafe de olla, that was good. The aroma of the brown sugar & cinnamon was ever present. Estrella, our server was very welcoming, attentive and friendly, she gets 5 stars for her service with a smile & hospitality. Their lunch & dinner menu looked very appealing but we wanted breakfast items. We wish we were both molé enthusiasts then perhaps we would've better appreciated & enjoyed those offerings. Both indoor & outdoor seating (front & rear), parking is free & shared with their liquor store at this corner small plaza. Beware, no restrooms available. I'm glad we gave this little shop a try.
