I've lived in the area for 10 years and had never tried this place until this year! I love that the place is very homey. I will say, the food is rather pricey compared to other places. Our total for our bill was about $75. Their menudo is so GOOD! Amazing flavor, but if you want to get a large bowl it's about $25! They do have a deal where it's $25 for 48oz of menudo, considering to get this for Christmas! We got 2 chicken tacos, 2 quesabirrias, 1 birria burrito and a pastor torta. It was my first time trying a torta and wow! It was so good, I liked that the filling did not make the bread soggy, the pastor was tender and flavorful, not dry. The quesabirria was also very good and dipped into the consome ‍ they were not stingy with the chicken meat for the tacos. Overall great place, the owner was there and he was very nice and kept checking on us. Parking is street parking but we found a spot pretty quick, they have inside and outside seating. read more

Sadly, but I revisited this place today after 15 years. A lot has changed . Orders are taken on the driveway, don't know why . Everything looks ok in front but it's closed. The asada Burritos and Tacos de lengua are not do not have that kick like before. Dang , 2 small Burritos , 3 tacos de lengua & a large orchata $60 dlls. This was the place to buy menudo back in the day. Not anymore unfortunately it's just not the same . You get a tiny "large" container of this hangover cure. So me and my friend were craving some Birria saw this place and decided to stop by since it said Birria with handmade tortillas. So we stopped in. the first sign should've been that they have no prices on their menu up on the wall, which is OK but we failed to ask what the prices were before we ordered so this is what we ordered, a medium plate of Birria didn't know it came only with 2 tortillas small at that, My friend ordered three tacos with handmade tortillas for herself and then two small tacos for her young boy with regular tortillas, 2 Horchata one being small one medium they almost looked the same size as in small and a can of Coke for me Bill came out to be almost $60. I was in AWE and this place is not even a restaurant. It's a small fast food as it's very tiny inside only two tables and another small table I could have never imagined the prices would've been up the roof. I was not happy about that as the owner I believe he does not give an itemized receipt nor doesn't tell you what you're paying for so I asked him for an itemized receipt of what he charged us because it was super pricey, so I asked him to give me the itemized receipt so he gave it to me and I said to him you charged me $25 for a medium sized bowl of Birria with two small handmade tortillas not even including the can of coke which was $3.50 and he was kind of rude about it. He's like yeah inflation and I'm like dude that is really expensive for this bowl of Birria and two tortillas $30 for those two items. My friend got charged $17 plus, for her 3 tacos and $8 plus, for two small tacos and the horchatas were $4.75 for medium which looked like a small and the small one was $3.50 and looked like an xtra small I think he was making up the prices as he was taking the orders . So yes total was $59 and he still had the audacity to say he gave us a $4 discount and is nowhere on the receipt. Now I know why it was empty food was not to par with the prices terrible I told him never again will I leave my hard earned money at his place ever again. He had no remorse about the charges like I said the food was not even good so I guess I should've looked at the stars before I walked in there.. This has been the only place I come to buy tacos de Adobada (marinated pork). The adoba just reminded me of tacos I've only had in Mexico. I've coming here all of my adult life. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back. I don't mind paying for a good taco, but they have priced their items way too high for the people they serve in the area. My tacos were not as flavorful as they've been in the past. The taco seemed to be served the same, but the quality of the meat is also no longer the same. The customer service was great, but the Coke bottle was $5. That's kind of outrageous when you sit outside near a dumpster. I found this place on IG. Upon entry you notice it's very clean. Floors where very wet no slip n fall signs not good for all walk ins. If there was any I didn't see them throughout the patio area. The teller was of older age that always gives me warmth upon ordering. But she had no recommendations on their food or suggestions as I told her it was my 1st time. There really is no digital receipts. So as you see in other posts the food is a little over priced. As a consumer or a numbers guy I couldn't justify the cost until I tried and finished my food. I probably wouldn't return as I didn't get enough value for my expense. Also take a jacket if you show up early as it's a patio to dine in and there is only street parking the menudo was average but the cabeza taco was good with a pleasant surprise in that it had cabbage on top. read more

I have been coming here since the mid 80's, obviously not as regular due to the distance of where I work/live. I have stopped by here several times over the past 5-10 years and I have to say that although the size and quantity of the food has not really changed, their menu has expanded and increased in price significantly. My last review from 2021 claims the flavor has not changed, but I am sad to announce that since then it has changed. I had an adobada and asada burrito. I will say, not as flavorful as before but I did get the taste and appreciate that the beans are still good. What I live about this place still is that the burritos come with the meat, beans, cabbage, onion and the hot sauce. The hot sauce i unique but not as good as before. They provide you with radishes, cucumbers and lemons. I also tried their cabeza tacos, which they claim to be beef cheeks, however, to me they add other parts to the cheeks but I cannot confirm that. I will say that the taste of this meat for sure changed and not as good. It recalls me of my dad since he loved these tacos. I am not too sure about coming back, soon anyway. I will give them another shot since I want to believe this was a fluke. If the food is better than on this visit, I will review again with a better review, but for not, this for sure could have been a lot better, if they want to claim their old glory. read more

This place has been a staple in this community for over 30 plus years. If you're looking for a whole in a wall type of place this is it . A gem in the city of Maywood and worth the drive . The spot has been cleaned up allot from what it used to look like and it's a no frills but delicious food. They specialize in Menudo and they have it everyday not just weekends. The menudo is delicious and you can order it with pata or with nervio or grano. It's super delicious and this is just like it's home made or better. They also have delicious Burris which I highly recommend and hits the spot. They sell tacos and burritos (pastor , lengua, asada , cabeza ,pollo) all delicious. What happened!!!!! I always recommended this place to my friends and family.... I could not rave enough on how fresh and delicious the food was here. I've been eating here since 1990. When it looked like an old bar converted into a taco place. It was cool to be able chat with the original owner while he cooked our food. I stopped by today and had not done so in a while. 1st I'm told I have to order outside through a window like a walk thru style fast food place. Minus one star there. Then I'm surprised with their different sized burritos $17 and $11. I was totally confused by that. I don't care for the excuse that it's 1/2 pound of meat vs 1/4 pound of meat. Not buying that. Minus a second star. I order (2) 1/4 pound burritos and 2 drinks. I was hoping their great food would justify the steep pricing. Wrong! The burrito I received which was banged out in less than 5 minutes was the worst burrito I've ever had! What happened to this place? They to used grill the meat as orders were being placed?!! The meat in my burrito seemed like old reheated dried up diesmillo full of fat. What happened to the meat you served before? It was nice, juicy and tender. Minus 2 stars for that! So my mom is a menudo connoisseur, and we when we get tips on a place that has good menudo, we eat there for research purposes. Our findings show that this place's menudo is legit. Very good, and extra points for the place asking if my mom wanted pata and nervio, which she did. Just know that if you order takeout menudo, it's either small or large. No medium. One less star because I ordered a burrito and I was shocked and appalled to discover that they put repollo in their burritos. No thank you. I did appreciate the size of the burrito, they offer an individual size and a share size. I also think that they make their own flour tortillas. Will come back.... only for the menudo. read more
