Y'all avoid little Mexico on Cary Street at all costs! I ordered steak nachos and Mexican street corn tonight and the picture that they show on their website of Mexican corn is that it is off the cob with all of the seasonings on it, I was thinking I would sprinkle the corn over my nachos. When I got my food and unpacked the corn, it was still on the cob with very little seasoning on it. Then I took the lid off of my steak nachos and y'all know how they seal that very well, there's a lid on it. When I took off the lid, a roach crawled out of my steak nachos. I killed it, put it in the container with the steak nachos and packed up the food and put it in a trash bag tied into a knot and put it on my back porch. Then I contacted DoorDash and they tried to only give me a refund for only the steak nachos and I told them that I wanted a full refund on the entire meal that I was not eating anything from that restaurant. They ended up giving me my entire refund which included the tip. Then I called the restaurant to let him know that a roach crawled out of my steak nachos and he couldn't get it through his mind after I told him several times that I had gotten my refund and I wanted to tell him that a roach crawled out of the food they had prepared there. And he kept telling me that I needed to call DoorDash for that problem. I told him again that I had already called them and it is not about the money anymore. It is about the fact that they packaged my food and there was a roach in the container with my steak nachos and he told me that he didn't know what else to tell me that he couldn't help it. And then, once again, referred me to call DoorDash. I told him again in an elevated voice that it wasn't about DoorDash, but it was about his restaurant having roaches getting in the food that they delivered to their customers. He told me he was done with the conversation, so I hung up on him. I have been eating at this restaurant for many years and using DoorDash for about three or four years and I have never had a problem with my food such as this. This is absolutely disgusting and yet another reason why I should cook my own food at home. If you still want to eat there after reading this, that's on you, but I'm letting you know that a roach was in their food that was delivered to me. I will never be eating there again. I know all restaurants have roaches, but I never expected one to be delivered in my food. read more

It is unfortunate how good this place use to be and no longer is. Ever since the pandemic this place has gone downhill and continues to do so... every little visit began to get worse, from the outrageous pricing of the food to the poor customer service. Even the taste , quality and quantity of the food became atrocious. The last straw was when they decided to add a 20% gratuity on all checks- not just table groups but also for singles or couples, you are getting a 20% gratuity added to your bill. Wanna order take out? 20% gratuity slapped right onto the bill. Came in here last night for my regular to go margarita drink, and as they handed me the receipt they pointed to the bottom where it says "gratuity of 20% added" For what? For literally pouring me a pre made drink that took less than a minute to make , and you expect a 20% tip for that!?!?! HAHAHAHA y'all are sooooooo funny how about you really put some work into it and then I'll consider a tip? The poor attitudes of the employees are already such a turn off, that now forcing customers to tip shitty workers is the last straw for us to continue supporting this small business. It was a great plan to hire Little Mexico to cater a party for about 50 people. They confirmed the order in advance, the food arrived HOT and just on time, and all my guests (and me!) raved about the food. There was plenty to eat for everyone, and the choice of the Taco Bar along with enchiladas was a perfect mix of yummies that everyone was able to enjoy. I've eaten at the restaurant as well, and the food is just as delicious, but the perfect combination of delicious food delivered on time and the excellent service to make the order be JUST RIGHT made this a perfect selection for my event. I had to give a negative-ish review, but the food here is really just okay. I've been on several occasions and everything tastes kind of the same. I know this can often be the case at Mexican joints, but I just haven't found any standout items on the menu. Don't get me wrong: it's fine, it fills you up and it satisfies the Mexican urge, but it ain't the best food in town. The salsa is pretty inconsistent. At times it's got a kick, but sometimes, like on my last visit, it's pretty tomato-y and bland. The margaritas are food-dye clover green. I don't understand why some restaurants feel the need to do this. It's unnatural and not remotely how a margarita should look. On my last visit I got the pollo al chipotle. The chipotle sauce was overpowering and bitter on the finish. Not too good. My companion only at a little of his Grande Especial because everything was meh. I think my biggest complaint is that upon looking at the web site, I see that the restaurant claims to served Mexican food from four different regions of Mexico. Having eaten in Mexico, I'd venture to see that the food from all the different parts doesn't all taste kind of bland and alike. On the upside, the decor is cool, especially for a Mexican joint. The owners actually redid the restaurant, which is impressive in Richmond when many Mexican joints just set up shop without changing the look of the establishment at all. One of the best Mexican restaurants we've eaten at on the East Coast. The service was good and fast. Portions were plentiful. Staff were pleasant and attentive, but not intrusive. So this is where all the fun college kids hang on a Tuesday night. Went to LM last night for a little impromptu (mid-week?) Margarita and apps with some friends, and wow I've never seen this place so packed! It was as if VCU was offering a 2 for 1 deal. As per usual, service was quick, food was great! Margs on the other hand, not so much. I guess for $6.95 (jumbo marg special) you really can't expect the results of a straight shooter, but hey my mom always told me to aim high! This is my go to fast Mexican place! You can't go wrong with the speedy Gonzales during lunch time! I've eaten in here and have ordered pick up. All the times my orders have been accurate and the food has been hot! Though our server last night was a little slow and didn't even check on us again once our food came out until we were basically done with our meal. The place is casual and the food is basic Mexican but good! They also give you free chips & salsa. They have specials on certain days like dollar Tacos on Mondays etc. They have a sign inside with all the days of the week specials but I didn't get a chance to take a picture. The vibe is also nice and I love that the bar area is separate from the regular restaurant seating in the event that you want to have a quieter lunch/dinner experience. I love the newly renovated patio! The "Buenas Vibras" sign is the perfect backdrop for those brunch Instagram photos! The staff is always friendly and the service is FAST. This is a favorite spot for a few friends of mine. When someone is feeling down, wanting to celebrate, or just wants to hang out Little Mexico fits the bill. There are selections for vegetarians too which helps. The food is A-OK 3 star Mexican food. Similar dishes found else where (tacos, enchiladas, burritos, carnitas...). Favorites are fish tacos and chicken and avocado soup. When it is dollar taco night it is usually gotten but a little plain. No dish has been awesome for me so I often get different things. They have thin chips and a runny salsa that is ok. The margarita specials are especially popular. I recommend mango or the agave margarita (a little more pricey). The service is good despite getting orders wrong sometimes. We usually it corrected quickly with no problems. There is a parking lot in the back but can get crowded due to proximity to VCU. I've gone here a lot since its located near were I live and I have never had to wait to be seated (Note: I never go there during Monday evenings during there taco specials, college kids and cheap food is always ingredients for a long line) and if you want a quick sit down meal and go, there services is quick. My usual is either the chicken chimichangas fried or the pollo el chipotle; they also have a brunch menu that I have yet to try. They also have a small patio area on the side of the building which is great when the weather is nice and you want to smoke. The one thing that makes me a fan of this place is there Margaronas, I always get a kick when my buddies from out of town come in and we order them. I like this place when I'm starving! I am always greeted and seated promptly and service is quick. The salsa is tasty and fairly average regarding heat...in other words, it is mild. I liked that my chips were warm. I ordered enchiladas verdes. I liked the flavor. I added a little hot sauce. I also substitued black beans for refried beans. The rice was a little soft (read overcooked). I thought the beans needed more flavor. They were a bit bland even though I saw bits of veggies in the beans. Even still, I preferred them over the refried beans. I also ordered a fried ice cream dessert. It was a scoop of ice vanilla ice cream rolled in granola or some other similar coating. It came with chocolate sauce, whipped cream and a cherry. All of this was encased in a mini tortilla bowl. The bowl tasted awful...like it came straight out of a cardboard box and is full of preservatives and chemicals. Yuk! I didn't eat the bowl but gobbled up the ice cream. read more
