I placed a to go order on 6/3/26 for a big plate with an extra side of potato salad. When i got home I did not have the extra side of potato salad. I went back on 6/4/26 to get a refund for the extra side ,their reply was that I should have checked the bag before I left. They only offered to give me a side of potato salad. I've seen Little Pigs every year when I visit Asheville, but have never stopped in. I was driving by at lunch time so decided to check it out. The place was busy but the service was quick and efficient. I had to wait for fresh fries but that just meant I got them nice and hot. The pork was just fine. Nothing special about it but nothing bad about it either. I tried both of the bbq sauces and again, both were fine but neither blew me away. The beans were just ok. Not sure if they make them or they are canned, but they taste like canned beans. Not a ton of flavor. The plate came with hush puppies which were hot and had a great taste. Glad I finally stopped. Not necessarily on my list of places I need to go back to as there's better BBQ in the area, but it was solid which is likely why it's been around for so long. read more

To be honest this rating is solely based on the fact that the owner came to our table. Party of 7 ordering as they indicate- one person at a time (counter service). Service was awful, food gets slabbed on your plate like prison slop. The gentleman at the register was hollering at us to go to the register to pay as soon as you order, when one person in our group tried to reach for napkins he started fussing that it was a health violation to reach over etc which we understand and obviously we were not aware that would be an issue but the way he handled it was rude and unprofessional. My daughter was given the bottom of what was left in the french fry basket- which the owner saw and told her no way they should have served that, I'll get you a fresh batch. He came to the table with fresh fries and chatted with us a bit, I think he saw all that had transpired and was trying to recovery the situation. Food was subpar, 2 in our group had intense stomach cramps about 2 hours after eating and 2 others had indigestion as well (noone got physically ill other than a few bathroom trips, thankfully). It is a shame because there is a ton a history there and being run by the son of the original owner but it is not at all what we expected for a family bbq place. read more

While on my way back home to Charlotte from Asheville I decided to stop by here and grab something to go to have for dinner tonight. I was just driving by and I'm a sucker for an old school spot so I swerved in immediately to see what they had going on. Soon as I walked in, it was like taking a step back in time which I absolutely loved. Seems old school places are becoming a thing of the past in Charlotte, so I was beyond thrilled to walk in here. I got the chicken and rib meal with slaw and beans. It was absolutely delicious. You can tell they perfected their recipes years ago and that's why they're still in business now. My only regret is I didn't find out abt them sooner during my time in Asheville because I would certainly love to dine in. The staff was very friendly and welcoming which I loved. read more

I witnessed an extremely concerning interaction at this restaurant involving several teenagers who had come in to purchase food and eat together after a protest at AHS. They were not protesting inside the restaurant, they simply had signs with them from a prior event. The owner or maybe manager (who identified it as "my restaurant") chased kids out swearing at the them, threatening them, and physically grabbing and breaking their signs. Several of the teens had already purchased food and were told to leave afterward, with at least some not receiving the food they paid for. When I arrived to pick up my child and asked what was happening, the owner became verbally aggressive toward me as well, including calling me a vulgar name, almost hitting me in the face with the door and ordering me to leave. Regardless of personal or political views, verbally attacking minors and destroying their personal property is unacceptable and deeply unprofessional. I encourage families to be aware of this experience when deciding where to dine. read more

These men working for minimum wage because they don't know how to do anything else. The guy taking money snatched and grabbed my dollars out of my hand like he was going to turn and run. They turned up the television so loud it was hard to have a conversation. While watching a game show on TV they were so proud of themselves if they got a question right. A preschooler could have won. A life long Ashevillian pointed me to Little Pigs as real bbq so I headed right over for a tasty pulled pork sandwich on a bun with slaw. In addition to a nice place to get a sandwich I had a tasty traditional potato salad. Little Pigs sits at the nexus of fast food and bbq and sorta elevates both in the process. It wasn't all good though. The greasy bag of hush puppies where undercooked. I don't recommend. This spot focuses on hickory smoked pork and chicken. That's it. They got a pie and a few sides. It lacks for nothing as the line moved steadily, and you most definitely can tell they have their regulars. My fiancé and I split a bbq and chicken breast plate for $12 & some change. It included baked beans, potato salad, and 3 hush puppies. We subbed fries in lieu of the potato salad. With the chicken, you get choice of fried thigh or breast + dark or white meat. This is self seating. She calls out your name for your order and you pay at a separate location than from where you place your order. BBQ sauces was really good and they have them for purchase if you wish to take it home. If you're wheelchair bound, please know the bathrooms are not exactly ADA accessible. The establishment has booths on one side and table on the other. Small parking lot, but still enough for you to park. We came in at peak lunch and there were spots available. I don't eat slow, so I just got extra Hush Puppies. The barbecue had a great smoky flavor. If I had one negative thing to say about the barbecue was, it was chopped up different than I'm used to. It almost looked like my mother had cut it up for me so I wouldn't choke on it. The baked beans were amazing. Hush puppies were really good as well. A tad bit greasy but overall good.
