I was not aware the salmon was raw. That wasn't even the main issue even though it was odd. They oversalted the salmon to the point it was inedible. The second time I came I ordered the shrimp quesadilla. I have no words. Taco Bell made better quesadillas. The only thing that was passable were their burgers. A nice local diner/bistro I've been to at least five or six times. The best item here, which I don't have pictured, is actually their chorizo Benedict with chipotle hollandaise. In general, their Mexican fusion breakfast items are their strongest menu items. I like the vibes inside with the TVs and bar, and generally service is quite good. Sometimes you may have to wave them down, but once you get their attentions the waiters are all very helpful. Overall, chill spot in Downtown Brooklyn. Much easier to get a seat too than a lot of the smaller spots nearby. read more

In Brooklyn for the first time and staying at the Holiday Inn on Schermerhorn St. this restaurant is connected to the hotel and we have dined there for breakfast and dinner a few times. If you want terrific food served very hot and the staff if so polite you have to go there. Food is delicious and the people working there are the best. I was looking to get breakfast there but it took a couple of minutes for someone to even come to the front to seat me and my partner. When the guy did come to the front, he attended the man who came in AFTER us so it definitely was unpleasant having to wait even longer. This is nothing on the server himself, the place just seems understaffed which is terrible since it was busy. They need to do better at staffing more people for the morning if they know they get busy. They have one waiter doing multiple tasks and it leaves everyone else unable to get a decent experience. read more

Wednesday, July 5, 2023 early afternoon, table for 2. We sat wherever we wanted and were brought menus. We both ordered coffee with milk as well as iced water with lemon( on the side). The lady had the Bleu cheese burger deluxe with red onions and avocado. She really enjoyed the burger deluxe and took a bit of it home. I had the chicken breast, eggs over easy platter which came with avocado, multigrain toast( with butter and strawberry jelly). It was topped with a warm Chipotle hollandaise sauce. The dish was perfect in presentation and flavor. Attached to hotel and service was amazing without being invasive. Definitely pocket friendly. read more

Yay a diner in my neighborhood! The food is good, the coffee is fresh, the prices are reasonable and the service is pleasant. Neighbors, work with me on this one: let's keep this place in business. I've only been here for breakfast (twice) and it was shortly after they opened so they probably were putting on their best face but I have hope that they'll keep it up, they seemed professional. Both times I got challah French toast with crispy bacon. The toast was fluffy and the bacon was indeed crispy. Four slices of each, came to 11.95 I believe. Hubs got two eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast. He was happy. I think it cost the same but don't quote me. The menu is the size of a, I don't know, something big. They have a bunch of sandwiches and other stuff. I recognize the menu from a place on Montague that I meant to go to but never did so I guess it was meant to be. The food is pretty good, prices aren't bad. The waiter I had tonight was horrible. They come over once if you are not ready you have to wait forever for them.to take your order. I finished my meal, the waiter never came by to check on us, I told the bartender we wanted the check. We waited over 20mins after asking for the check had to walk up to the bar and then the waiter final comes out of a back room having drinks with his friend and argues with me after I said I had to wait so long for a check. Honestly I was super disappointed. They we're moderately busy nothing too crazy. I stood at the front waiting to be seated. 10 minutes go by and not a single person acknowledges me. Then I sit at the bar and still not even the bartender acknowledges me. Then a father and son enters and in less than 5 minutes they were acknowledged and told to go sit anywhere. This place is so spacious and very bright! Just opened up a couple weeks ago next to holiday inn and I must say the food was great and fairly priced! Hopefully it gets busier because this place deserves it -- service was also fantastic! They have diner ish food as well as lots of Mexican style foods. They have a bar in the back as well as a patio! The choices are endless from breakfast to Mexican to burgers to steak to pastas and more! My boys decided to order a Belgian waffle with ice cream and toppings. They were warm and fluffy! Be Careful dining here. On 07/04/2023 we walked into this restaurant about 09:00 am. At that time we were the only customers. Kind of strange for Brooklyn. The server was pleasant and the food did not take long. BUT, near the end of our meal, a small roach crawled across our table. I knocked it off the table and another one came from around the condiment stand on the table. Once we got our check, we were hit with another big surprise. WE did see the cost on the menu but we did not expect to get hit with a 18% service surcharge. And told that this is not considered a tip. Grand Canyon Bistro is in a brand new space attached to the Holiday Inn; the restaurant is large and beautiful--tons of natural light. The menu is a mix of classic diner options and traditional Mexican offerings. We had a tuna salad triple decker and juevos con salsa--both were great. This is a great option for brunch.
