My side salad was generous in its assortment of greens and veggies with cheese and croutons, but was lacking in dressing. I would have asked for an additional side cup, but the waiter was already overloaded. My wifes crab cakes with remoulade were very tasty from the samples that I had. yet the star of the meal / week was the the best damn Lasagna that I've ever had! Stacked tall with about 40 layers (give or take 30) of heavily seasoned meat, pasta, red sauce, alfredo sauce and cheese and topped with two perfect bread sticks. Wow! Thankfully the weather was cool, so I had no problem taking part of it home for a second meal later. I'd love to return and sample some of the Udon noodle dishes, sticky ribs or even the cheeseburger. They all looked wonderful from a distance. A great job from the back of house and front of house during a Saturday night slam.

On the table were a variety of spices and sauces in various containers, but they didn't look like they had been cleaned or changed in several uses, so we did not use or investigate to know exactly what things were.

I opened the door and the bell that alerts the wait staff rang as I stepped in to the establishment, damp and leading with my hips. The sun was setting and some of the mist from the earlier rain had followed me in to the Little Saigon Cafe. Nothing could tear me apart from the lovely culture that was Thailand and with every person that passed I bowed my head because that's what you do. The lady at the front asked me "how can I help you?" Or least that's what I assumed by the inflection of tone in her voice to which I responded with "restroom?!?" The short little lady, who seemed oddly attracted to me, gave me a look of disgust when I asked this. Her eyes widened and I could see how dilated her pupils have become due to her strong attraction to me once she rejected my inquiry about the restroom. Then I left. Looking back, she was probably at least 50 years older than me, but now a days I cant help thinking about that short little lady who was ugly but clearly hot for me. Did she ever think that i would think about her when thinking about my thoughts in a thoughtful manner? Or did she just always know that every time I felt a certain moisture in the air from an earlier rain, that it would make me look up to the full moon and envision all the resting people who never understood what it was like to be loved by a little short elderly woman in such a way that so closely resembled disdain. I know she loved me but there is something that distances two souls that are meant to be when the flesh of existence wraps around one's identity and makes one speak English and the other: some Asian language that i would never understand. What is love?....What is hope?...What is life?... Maybe I'll never know but at least I'll now know that even after our future lovers pass and leave us many stories to tell our grandchildren, me and her will always have Little Saigon Cafe. I had an amazing experience at Little Saigon Cafe during my recent visit. As soon as I walked in, I was warmly welcomed by the staff and the ambiance of the place made me feel comfortable and relaxed. The highlight of my visit was definitely their pho, which I consider to be one of the best I've had in Kansas and even rivals Seattle/Tacoma Pho. The broth was packed with flavor, savory, and rich while the noodles were perfectly cooked and complemented well with the fresh herbs and meats. All the ingredients worked together seamlessly, creating a heavenly dish that made me want to lick the bowl clean. Aside from their pho, Little Saigon Cafe has a wide range of delicious Vietnamese dishes. The staff were friendly and always ready to answer my questions and suggest their recommended dishes. Overall, I highly recommend Little Saigon Cafe to anyone looking for authentic and delectable Vietnamese cuisine. Steve and Anna are fantastic people and their restaurant serves excellent dishes everyday. Their Pho and all other soups are superb. Most days they have a special dish that's always priced right and delicious! I go there quite often and have tried many of their menu items. Always great, priced right and served quickly. Most of their clientele are regulars that can't get enough of their food. What does that tell you. Yes, it's a small place but most patrons go out of their way to make room and Steve and Anna work very hard to get people served quickly. You will be well rewarded for a little patience. BTW, I see a couple of reviews say that they're not friendly. Don't believe that, if you come in three times they will absolutely know your name and celebrate your arrival. I love the family-owned feel and the fact that they cook your food right in front of you. Everything smells incredibly delicious and their pho is the best in Lawrence by far. They have an incredible amount of choices that range from Vietnamese to Korean. I try to come here every two or three months in order to support these great people. Their shirts are hilarious "pho king" "pho king best", I highly suggest that if you want traditional Vietnamese food, especially pho to come here. Great little place to have in Lawrence, KS. Came in today with my girl friend whose Vietnamese and I had never tried Pho yet. So we both ordered some Pho ( she did) and they had great tea btw. The food came up and it looked AMAZING. There were some kind of meat balls and beef, things of that nature with bean sprouts and greens. And on the side some jalapenos. The broth was AMAZING!
