My mom kept talking about this bakery, so for her birthday last Friday, I got her a cake and some pastries from here. The peach jasmine matcha cake ($60) was a bit pricey, but completely worth the money. My parents and grandma loved it, and it really was not sweet at all. Also, it was decorated beautifully! I also got 2 small durian cakes for my mom and grandma to try. They really loved it, and the bottom base was made of chocolate rice crispies (?) and was so delicious. This cute cafe is located inside a busy plaza. It's located right at the corner so it's easy to find. The interior was pretty spacious and they had many options. We decided on banana bread, sweet potato, and sweet bread. We actually came to try their cakes so we got a slice of their chocolate mousse and matcha crepe chiffon cake. The only disappointment was the service. We waited in line to ask for the cake slices and the lady assisting us was not very nice and seemed to be rushing us. No greeting and very impatient. Today is a Saturday afternoon and there was only one other customer in there with us. I would understand if there was a long line. Best cake ever (for durian fans) and it's also super cute. I've also tried the matcha grape cake, which was really interesting, I thought it was ok but my friends absolutely loved it. There are a bunch of unique and pretty options so definitely check it out a day before or on their website if you're planning on getting something. Today I needed to order a cake to celebrate gender reveal for my family. The cashier spoke with me patiently and clarified the details with me very well. She was very understanding to take the time to get my order right. I am very impressed with how the cake came out. The even free extra small gift with the cake! How adorable! Thank you! :) For people who didn't know how many possibilities this order could go wrong, let me explain. It was a long process to explain how I wanted the color outside the cake had to be neutral (not anywhere near blue or pink) while making sure that the cream inside is pink with strawberry flavor. I know it's an extra step for the staff to make sure that the baker doesn't mess up the color if the cream inside of the cake to be green or wrong color, which will confuse my family about what's the gender of the baby. Overall, the cake looks fabulous outside with gender neutral color, and the interior color is perfectly pink shade. And the layers of the cake stay in place when cutting. Little Swan is located in a large plaza. I visited this store on a Wednesday at around 6:00 PM to grab a few cake slices. Since it was near closing, there were some limited options left. I was able to grab (1) strawberry cake, (1) taro cake, and (1) matcha green grape cake. I asked the staff for a recommendation for something that wasn't too sweet, and they recommended the matcha slice. Overall, all the slices were layered very well. The strawberry had fresh strawberries on there and a jam near the bottom. The matcha one had a lot of grapes throughout but I would have preferred it if it didn't have it. My husband and I made a special trip to visit this bakery with high hopes. Most everything was tasty except one thing. I wanted to try the Durian Crepe cake slice. I hope I would have tasted it while we were in the area so I could exchange it for something else. When I opened the clear box it let out a not so pleasant smell. It looked "ok" so I tasted it but it tasted as bad as it smelled. As I looked closer it has some small mold spores at different areas. They only had pictures of their cake designs, and there were no actual descriptions of the cake flavors and ingredients. We had to flag down an employee for help. I find that many Chinese bakeries typically offer the same breads - Pork Sung, Hot Dog Buns, Raisin Coconut Rolls, Green Onion Pork Sung Rolls, BBQ Pork Buns, etc. However, Little Swan offers more unique flavors that I do not see others have. They have the usual suspects as mentioned above, but there were so many breads that piqued my interest: Squid Ink Tuna/Chicken, Salted Egg Yolk bread varieties, and several more. I ended up buying a ton of different varieties just because it sounded good. They were all really good! Most of their breads are priced very reasonable and cheap. However, they specialty items such as Mini Pork Sung Cake ($9.99) and full size cakes are very pricey. While I really liked the Mini Pork Sung Cake, for the price, you get three tiny pieces and it just isn't worth the price. Honestly, they could fit a fourth piece in the box and it actually looks like it's missing a piece because they put three in a box. I wasn't a huge fan of their wife cake, it doesn't have that authentic taste and texture that I'm looking for. Service was helpful and overall friendly. This was one of my favorite bakeries not too long ago. But I feel that the quality has taken a bit of a nosedive, around the same period when they reduced their points earning system from 1 point per $1 to 1 point per $4. I've gotten a bolo bao that was more like plain milk bread, lacking the characteristic crunchiness of the top butter layer even when put in the oven. I tend to like most of the breads, but their bolo bao falls short for me, as well as the "coffee" bun which is bread wrapped around approximately a thousand calories of walnuts (I guess supposed to be coffee flavored, but they weren't-- it was like eating fistfuls of plain lightly sweetened walnuts)... I also had another unpleasant experience when a bread was not properly labeled to note that it contained meat. Taking a closer look at home, I realized I had bought bacon and couldn't eat it. The bread section seems a bit stagnant in selection. I never see new breads even though other bakeries tend to do seasonal specials. I have seen some new cakes, so maybe they're putting more effort into expanding their cake lineup for now. They used to have really affordable and delicious lunch sandwiches like a smoked salmon egg sandwich that always brought me in, but since I noticed they no longer sell them I often don't feel like I want to make the drive anymore. I still like some of the breads, but with the loss of the 1 for 1 point system and lack of new products, Little Swan will be just one in my rotation of Asian bakeries. read more

Decent Chinese bakery! There's a lot of competition for chinese bakeries in the area and they're almost all good. I'd say little swan is pretty standard, bread is good and I wouldn't mind buying from here again, but it also doesn't really stand out. Beautiful custom cakes for any occasion! Super easy to order, great flavor options, and delicious. The staff are very friendly. Pre-ordered cakes.m, I believe either 6" or 8" come in a beautiful clear gift box. I think they may have it for their larger cakes too, but when I peeked in the fridge during my cake pickup, only saw normal boxes for the large cakes- definitely worth asking!! I ordered a 6" celebratory cake for my husband (added the candle myself) I believe R#19 design with taro filling- the taro is just sweet enough/not too sweet. Only thing is I may request less whipped cream next time, but that's just a personal preference since I don't really like cream. Cream was fresh and not too sweet as well, normal amount for the cake so please don't take this as a negative review. 漂亮又好吃！ They deserve more hype!!!! (Pastries and breads are delicious here too). It not only had a nice hint of rose flavor with lychees that provided that little extra sweetness. The cake itself was moist and the cream was luscious. While the decoration varies, it always comes out pretty stunning. They provide candles and knife and personalize the cake to the occasion. Because it has been such a hit at several gatherings, I have ordered it now several times. Recommend you call about 24-48 hours in advance to make sure they have. The bakery is in a busy plaza so it may be a little difficult depending on the time, but usually easy to find. The service is pretty quick and efficient. Stopped by for some pastries and honestly I was pretty surprised at how good they are. The prices were a bit higher in my opinion than other bakeries, but the quality made it worth it. Mochi bun - I don't remember the exact name but it has walnuts inside and on top of the bun. Inside the bun there's chunks of brown sugar mochi. The subtle fragrance of brown sugar and crisp walnuts really hit the spot. The best thing is that they're not overly sweet either. Sweet potato bun (?)- forgot the name but it's a long roll with purple sweet potato in it. Again, not overly sweet and very enjoyable. Their breads are very soft and fluffy. Service is fast but the girl behind the counter spoke a bit too fast. If you need a bag they charge 15 cents for paper bags, so bring your own. read more

Staff has been kind and courteous and although some pastries were priced a bit on the higher end, they have a large variety and were all fresh. For larger parties, I would recommend ordering a dozen of their wife cakes which is pretty affordable and not too sweet at all. Although it doesn't taste like a traditional wife cake, it was pretty good, slightly crunchy, chewy, and had water chestnut inside. Their squid ink bread was yummy. It had corn, cream, and chunks of some kind of meat but it was savory, sweet, and soft! Incredible selection of baked goods - there was so much variety and I was happily overwhelmed (I'm talking about durian crepes, pork sung rolls, cheese mochi bread to name a few). I love me a pork sung roll and the rolls they make here are huge and almost close to perfect to the ones I had in Asia! Their mini pork sung cake with salted egg yolk was the perfect savory bite. My kids always have an opinion on a birthday cake. This yr, my younger one wanted a guava cake. Turns out, this is the only place that has a full sized guava cake. If there's any other place, let me know for next year. I ordered over the phone and they were able to find my order via last 4 digits of your phone number. The location is a bit sparse but I got there at 9 am and there's lots of baked goodies available. I grabbed two hot dog breads for my kids' lunch. The cake is guava jasmine cake with sliced grape and candied orange slices ( which were not edible). There's actually whole jasmine flowers inside the gelatine layer of the cake. Underneath that layer is a cream mousse with strong hint of jasmine tea flavor. Followed by a pinkish guava jam and a thin layer of sponge at the very bottom. My partner thought it was one of his fave cakes ever. We both love tea so we appreciated the strong tea flavor. The cake did have a steep price tag. $59 for not a big cake. 8" approximately. An 8in round cake came out to around $50 give or take, but was so good and so pretty, my friends loved it! The cream wasn't too sweet and had a lychee hint to it. The cake itself was moist and light, and the fruits in the cake were super super fresh and flavorful! The bakery itself wasn't super busy when I went to pick up the cake (around 4pm on a Sunday) but I know usually these places are busier in the day/morning times when they have a full stock of fresh baked products. So glad I tried Little Swan as a last minute option to get a birthday cake. I wanted to gift my friend a quality cake, and searched Yelp for bakeries in the Rowland Heights area. The photos of the cakes sold me, so I called Little Swan around 9am and was able to request a 6" Lychee Rose cake for a 2pm pickup the same day. Little Swan is set up like many bakeries--85 degrees style with an assortment of individually bagged breads and some pastries that you can load onto your tray. The cakes are next level. Really unique flavors like durian, lychee rose, taro, and matcha. The way they are decorated as well and loaded with fruit is impressive. I picked up my cake and was surprised at the cutest packaging they had it in! My friend loved it. The cake was extremely fluffy, with a layer of whipped cream. There were whole pieces of lychee in the middle layer and on top. The rose flavor was very faint though. read more

BEAUTIFUL, affordable cakes, unique pastries, and overall a great bakery to go to! I wanted to find a bakery that I can just go and pick up a pre-made cake (place that wasn't too expensive nor a too widely known franchise), I saw that Little Swan had smaller, yet super pretty cakes, so I decided to stop by. Unfortunately, it's in a large, yet SUPER busy plaza as there's so many businesses, so I had to park farther away and walk there, but they were nice enough to hold my cake at the counter so that I can make several trips back and forth. Although their grand opening was months ago in the summer, they were still giving away some nice freebies. I believe if you spend over $20, you get a pretty jar of their tasty coconut jelly (tastes much more natural than the other chains out there) and I also got a tote bag as well! Many Asian bakeries, at least the ones I've been to in the area, have some actual loaves of breads, but mostly singular pastries, but this bakery has a great mix of both and a wonderful diverse variety as well. For loaves of bread they have Japanese sweet bread, other types of sweet bread, chia wheat toast (never seen this before), a pumpkin bread, and much more. If you don't want an entire cake, they have slices too. I gifted one of their melon cakes and was told it was quite yummy, not too sweet, and beautiful. Presentation is lovely, survived my turbulent driving in the passenger seat, and it even sparkled in the lighting. Very nice and it was only around $45-50 and serves several people (came with utensils as well). For our house, I got the pumpkin bread and the Japanese loaf of bread. Both were not too dry, soft, and slightly moist. Reminded me of a croissant with how the interior looked. The pumpkin had real kabocha pumpkin filling inside as well. Neither were too sweet either. I also got their mochi cheese balls, which came in a small box with a good number of them, slightly sweet, with the chewy mochi texture and the sharper taste of cheese on the inside, made these bites addicting. My parents have been raving about this bakery knowing how much I love Asian bakeries. Finally came around 4ish in the afternoon and was still about to get their coconut cream buns. Mom swears that it tastes like the old school DB back in the 80s. Loved the chew Bun texture with the coconut flakes. The cream filling was a bit too much cream for me Got some wife cookies that were warm in the hot case, nice and flaky. The Portuguese egg tarts were cold and a bit of a let down for me. The tiger Swiss roll was okay. Not much flavor or sweet enough. I saw all the things with pineapple like the Chiffon Cake and Swiss roll. My eyes were bigger than my stomach. I wanted to get some cream cakes like their lychee rose, cream puffs, or other slices mango cakes BUUUT...I saw that they had durian in the display case with the other flavors. I randomly came across the lychee cake while browsing on Yelp and I knew I had to try it. It was so delicious and did not disappoint! Like who knew lychee and cake would go so well together?! Date of visit for this location: 9/25/2024 (first time at this recently opened Rowland Heights location; (Multimes at the Alhambra location) I used to get their durian mille crepes, wife cake and also Portuguese egg tart at the Alhambra location. Only at this location when I started exploring their bread selection and I'm pretty impressed with what they have to offer. The ones I tried so far and really like are: - cheese mochi mini bread: similar to Brazilian's Pão de queijo. I love this so much! You can't find this in any other Chinese bakeries or any bakeries in So Cal for that matter, so make sure to get it when you're here. It comes in a small box with around 12 of them in it. The only thing they can improve with this particular product is to make the saltiness from the cheese a little more prominent. Other than that, it's perfect! - squid ink corn chicken - french cheese cake with durian - coconut jelly - durian mille crepes - lychee rose whole cake (bday gift from a friend - bbq pork bun - slices sausage bun (the one with bacon pieces topping) They also have unique selection of toasts that I have yet to explore here at this location. It's been a bit of a challenge recently to find a good birthday cake spot that offers beautifully designed cakes with more unique flavors. I was so happy to come across this bakery! I called the day of and they had several cakes ready to be picked up. I tried their most popular flavor, which was the rose lychee cake. The cake came in a lovely dome shape and was prepared well, each soft layer of cake cushioned by a generous amount of rose creme and lychee bits. Really wanted to try this bakery and order a birthday cake but thankfully we tried slices before buying the whole thing. Out of their options, they were kind of confusing because they told us they could only do certain cake flavors certain inches but showed us a tablet with pictures of different flavors with writing all in Chinese. The flavors (rose lychee, guava & pistachio cheesecake) were really light compared to traditional cakes & the cheesecake base was more like a granola bar instead of graham cracker which threw the texture off. I appreciate the help trying to explain to us the cake order process but for they didn't seem like they entirely cared for our business.
