Four of us came here recently to celebrate my mom's birthday. Salt & pepper calamari, beef chow fun, spicy shrimp hot pot, and some kind of pork kidney dish was ordered. I've been here once before but I forgot how good the salt & pepper calamari was. The beef chow fun was also amazing. They cook was gas and wok here so you know that "wok hei" is on point here. You can never make chow fun or fried rice with the same smoky flavor with electric. I will say that the peppercorns here aren't tongue numbing. I like this place though. I am very sad to say that this restaurant has closed. We loved this place and will really miss it. I am attaching the notice from the door. It looks like it may be the some of the same people working here but with new management. I hope so as Tina and Mike provided great food and great service. The new restaurant opens on 2/1 and will feature hand made noodles. I went with the lunch special, but was surprised to learn that the soup wasn't available for takeout--I had to eat it on the spot inside the restaurant. Pretty disappointing. We split the egg rolls, ground beef soup (sometimes called Westlake beef soup elsewhere), and the pork chow mein. Soup had almost no ground beef in it and was utterly flavorless, and the chow mein also had no flavor. The noodles were overly chewy and the pork was tough. We probably won't be back. read more

Our absolute favorite place for Chinese food. If you like spicy, the water boiled fish is delicious, the stir fried spicy cabbage, green beans and eggplant with garlic sauce are all very good too. The hot and sour soup is what I crave when I'm sick! While the food was cooked well and tasty, everything lacked the tongue-numbing spice that I have been craving. The food wasn't even spicy which was disappointing as well. 3.5 stars but I'll round up. I had food in the restaurant in late May of 2025. I ordered "Red braised pork belly"。 After 10 or 15 min the food was ready. Some of the pieces of pork were still cool in side after bites. I highly doubted that dish was pre- processed or pre- prepared, not cooled in the restaurant from fresh. I read news from a reputable a US Chinese news paper, restaurants import pre - prepared foods from China. Suggest when having food in a restaurant, make sure it has an open kitchen or the food is prepared in front of you. read more

Ordered the eggplant with brown sauce and chili oil wontons via doordash and was really disappointed. The eggplant was not very flavorful and the sauce that came with it was on the watery side and didn't stick on the eggplant very well. The wontons came in this oily, flavorless soup form. Usually when I order chili oil wontons, I expect them to come with a more dry chili. The food and service were both great! I really wanted salt and pepper tofu but didn't see it on the menu. They were able to make it for me anyways and it was delicious! Recently revisited this place after moving out of state for a couple years. It was a welcome sight to see when most of their flavors still remained the same. I stopped in to grab a menu on NYE day and it was suggested that we call in our order an hour or two before we wanted it. I was suspicious that would not work, but I called at 4:30 for pickup at 6 and my food was ready by 6:05. It was just being cooked when I got there. We had a 5 mile drive home, and it was still steaming when we got home with it. The food was really good and portions are generous so we have leftovers for today. As a Chinese foodie, I've been looking for a good Chinese restaurant with traditional dishes since moving to the area and have to say, I found it! Summary: Great authentic Chinese dishes, the salt and pepper squid was incredible. Great service too! The Long Version: We ordered Braised Eggplant in Brown sauce, Water Boiled Beef and Bean Curd, and Salt and Pepper Squid. The eggplant was very good (could have been braised a bit longer to improve it even more), the beef and bean curd dish was flavorful and very tender. The first two dishes came out very quickly while the salt and pepper squid took a bit longer, but it was 100% worth the wait. As the star of the show, the squid was seasoned perfectly with salt and pepper, fried to perfection but not over battered, and the squid inside was still tender. I want to try different things from the menu but I will get the squid every single time. I can't speak to their "American-style dishes" since I did not try any, but if you are looking for authentic Chinese food, you will not be disappointed. Service was great too. I found this place very close to my AZ residence and was intrigued by all of the positive reviews. I decided to check the place out and found out that one of their most popular items was Boiled Beef (水煮牛肉). It did not sound very appealing at first, but being that it was a Szechuan specialty and had many good reviews, I decided to order it. When I got to the restaurant, I noticed that some people were eating in the restaurant during the COVID-19 pandemic, which was very alarming. I walked up to the counter, picked up my Boiled Beef (~$12) which also came with a side of white rice. The dish had a nicely seasoned broth, vegetables, Beef, and chili. Upon the first few bites, I noticed that it definitely had spice and is probably spicy for people who can't handle a lot of heat, but for spicy food lovers, it required me to put some peppers to enhance the burn. As for taste, I can see why it is very popular. It was seasoned quite well, the Beef was nicely cooked, and it paired very well with the rice. The dish was also quite filling, lasted me two meals, and was very inexpensive. Your dollar takes you far at this place. I recommend the dish and the restaurant to people who like Szechuan food and people who like trying new dishes. I will defintely go back and try more at the restaurant! read more

This place is quite understated and nestled away in the plaza in which it is located. This is certainly a hidden gem in Phoenix and is not often talked about for their great food when talking about Chinese restaurants. While they're not in the Asian district along Dobson, you can find some good Chinese eats here. Primarily northern Chinese cuisine, everything they make here is done pretty well. My favorite dish here? The stir fry green beans! I know what you're thinking...green beans? Yes!!! Try them. You won't regret and will probably never eat greens in another way ever again. In Chinese, there's this phrase that doesn't really have a translation in English but it's the taste you get when you use a high fire to cook food. When doing so, often in a wok and heating up oil before cooking, it gives food this flavor. I don't know how to describe it but when I taste it, I know. These green beans are definitely made with this fire. A warmed up oil with garlic just makes the greatest flavor! Not only are the green beans great, water boil dishes are excellent too. It's slightly spicy but for someone who doesn't like spicy (aka me), I really like this dish. I don't think of it as a spicy but rather, more of an aromatic flavor. Sometimes, spicy dishes just numb my tongue and has no flavor. This dish has flavor with a little heat. The flavors balance very nicely. My personal favorite is the fish and beef boil. If you don't like fish, there are meat only options but there's something about fish with the broth that just make me salivate thinking about the dish. Another dish I recommend is the tea smoked duck. I don't know how to describe but it's so flavorful and moist. Sometimes duck can be try or lack flavor but this dish is the opposite. The smokiness of the tea leaves are infused in the duck that gives a complex yet understated flavor. Too be honest, I haven't tried many other dishes because I get the same 3-4 dishes every time. My family loves Szechuan food and we have been gone out of our way many a times to satisfy our Szechuan cravings (which Lowkey hit us every few weeks). I want to give a disclaimer to anyone trying to come here for the tingling peppercorn Szechuan they're expecting to know that this place feels more like the run of the mill Chinese joint rather than Szechuan. We ordered more than enough dishes and I think of them all it was really only the Water Boil Fish that stayed true to the Szechuan name. The rest were ok but didn't feel all that special. We ordered the Spicy Eggplant which ended up not tasting as cooked as we had hoped so kinda harder than expected. The Dan Dan noodles we were looking forward to but were ultimately disappointed. I think our expectations were just too high. Out of everything we ordered, there was maybe 1 dish that truly satisfied our cravings. Severely disappointed by the customer service and dish that was presented to me. I ordered the broccoli and beef and my roommate ordered the Mongolian beef. Both of which had a terrible grade of beef, if you like chewy beef that quite honestly doesn't look or taste like beef then this is the place. Trying new food is always going to be exciting for me and I was excited to say that they serve some of Asian cuisine I like to eat. Their food are deliciously tasty with full flavors. The only down fall on this restaurant is their customer service. The wait for placing your order took a bit longer than I expected. Then off course another wait for the cooked food to be serve at my table. I'm not in the rush, but I was wondering why the long wait without the evening rush. I would say that it was worth the wait! My spicy eggplant was cooked perfectly, the fried pork shop was nice and tender, the walnut shrimp was just good and their fried rice was yummy! This is a good place for Chinese. It's clean, great service, and an absolutely amazing menu. Today, we were in the mood for something different so, some of the selections were definitely not our usual. We were not sure we completely liked it. But we ate it for sure lol. Service was outstanding. The kind lady that works there was very nice and polite. I got the boiled fish soup, dimsum, and lamb skewer. Wow - soo good. I will say, the boiled fish soup was "less intense" than the same dish in "Szechwan Noodle" and a few other places where I have had boiled fish soup - which is my "go to" when trying a new Szechwan restaurant.
