All I wanted was some crab Rangoon. I knew the moment I opened the crab Rangoon that it was going to be a sad night. There was no golden brown color. There was no sizzle. They were puny little pouches with barely any filling :'( The sadder part is the crab Rangoon was probably the best part of the meal. Chicken quality was odd, and I ended up throwing the food away - something I rarely do especially when it cost almost 40 bucks for 2 entrees and an app lol. One of the entrees barely had chicken (I discovered this whole fishing chicken out prior to throwing everything away). First and last time, super sad cause this was close to me too and they actually made the food spicy but it just made the taste one flavor that wasn't really good. Little Szechuan nailed it as the local, friendly, reasonably priced and delicious family run Chinese restaurant! I met the owner Swanee who said they have been there for 42 years! I guess that speaks for itself. I had pan fried dumplings and Ma Po Tofu. Both were great. Wry flavorful and more than ample. I try not to be my own worst enemy and eat too much when out. So I didn't order their combo plates. For $10-12 bucks you get the chosen entree plus soup, tab puff, chow main and fried rice! Yep for ten bucks! I will be back in Tempe often and will be back to eat at Little Szechuan equally as often! read more

I usually order takeout but even eating there was nice as well. When I tell you the dumplings are fire they are actually fire, I always get the spicy ones and they're my favorite! Their fried rice is so good! It's a small space but it's nice. Highly recommend. read more

This is my favorite take out place... When I tell you I order from here once a week I am not at all kidding. I looove their impossible sweet and sour and their impossible dumplings are to die for. As a vegan with a vegetarian kiddo, we can't get enough of this place. The owner is also super friendly and remembers people by name, it's so sweet. 10/10 read more

I love the decor and I love their food!! The restaurant is full of cool decorations and it makes me feel like I am back in Chinatown. I have the spiciest and the most delicious kang pao shrimp. The onion and green onion in this dish mixed with spicy kang pao sauce make me could not stop enjoying them with rice (of course!) The Szechuan won ton is wonderful. The fried garlic and the salty & sour sauce really make the won ton extra good. The spicy house chicken is also spicy but deliciously crunchy good. Nom nom. I lived in China for many years and this food is a very sad representation of Chinese food. I don't recommend any of the dinner deals because it's 80% rice and noodles, 20% entree. I was hoping for a veggie dinner. I got chicken and veggies and it was mostly starches, not a ton of veggies. The entree was flavorless, just as the rice and noodles. Service was fine as I ordered food to go. I got their "signature" Kung Pao Crispy Beef which says on the menu is: "our famous sauce stir fried with onions, scallions and topped with peanuts". When I looked at my food when I got home I saw a pile of just beef which was stuck together with some sticky sauce. No onions, scallions, chilis or peanuts. Let me start off by saying I did not go into this restaurant, I ordered it for delivery at my place of work. They were 40 mins later than their expected time dropping the food off because the kitchen was backed up. This was even though I had ordered my food 2 hours in advance. I got the chicken fried rice and egg rolls. one review left on here said the chicken fried rice tastes like regular rice just dyed and I should have listened to them :,( they were right. The rice had no flavor. I ordered two chicken egg rolls and for some reason they were both different? Im not sure how they managed to give me two chicken egg rolls with completely different fillings but they successfully did. The first one was mid at best and the second one left a chemical taste in my mouth. They were also dripping in oil. I am leaving 2 stars because I am sure the staff is very nice and the service dine-in is good. read more

We stopped in here after being stranded by Delta for the night. I am almost boy am I glad we did. The food was outstanding. We got the mandarin dinner for 4. The egg roll was tasteless and don't even get me started on the crab rangoons.. they had literally no cream cheese and no taste. The creams cheese tasted like sour cream, smh. The hot and sour soup had NO additions. No mushrooms, tofu, nothing. So disappointed in this food and such a waste of money. I know it's COVID time, but I hope they were just being lazy. TL;DR - Everything was ok or less than ok. I won't be coming back. I ordered: the orange chicken dinner combo and the Mongolian beef dinner combo. The dinner combo comes with white or fried rice, lo mein, two lil crab rangoon guys, and a spring or egg roll. The crab rangoon really did not have much filling at all, BUT it was fried. And frying food items disguises most culinary sins. So I would say they were just ok. The spring rolls were your basic generic, gummy, previously-frozen spring rolls. Did not have the satisfying, crunchy, thin wrapper I was looking forward to, and the consistency of the veggie filling was remarkably gummy. You could squeeze out the filling like toothpaste (I know, I tried). Still, not the worst thing in the world. They were serviceable: I ate both of mine. The lo mein noodles were lacking for me. To be fair, I don't really like lo mein even on good days, but I found the noodles to be soggy, and lacking in flavor. Additionally, the veggies were very mushy and just contributed to the sogginess. The white rice was white rice, as advertised: good texture, nothing out of the ordinary. Good. The orange chicken itself was the most flavorful thing of the whole experience. It was fried well, and the sauce did taste artificial, but isn't that the goal with the classic Chinese takeout experience? I ate the most of this item. The Mongolian beef was drowning in juice? Gravy? Slurry? Not sure what it was, but it meant the beef had the structural integrity of wet newspaper. Not a pleasant mouthfeel. The veggies were less offensive than the beef, but they were also drowning in slurry and their texture was, astonishingly, worse than the beef. I would expect this dish, even if delivered, to retain some level of crisp/seared texture on the beef, and the veggies to be wilted versus soggy beyond all recognition. My plastic bag full of food had a nice little packet of a variety of sauces, and a fortune cookie, which I appreciated. Additionally, they did not tie my bag so tight that I had to cut it. It was in a loose little knot, which made unpacking it all very easy. (Also, this is gross, and probably speaks more to my intestinal fortitude than Little Szechuan's food, but the gastrointestinal repercussions? Immediate. Swift, groundbreaking, and possibly a punishment from God. I am still in the bathroom.) read more

I have had trouble finding good Chinese food in Arizona and this place continues my search. Let me also state that if you're Chinese this place will probably not suffice. I ordered the Mongolian beef dinner combo. The noodles were alright, the rice was stiff, and the beef itself had good flavor but there was only 7 pieces of meat. However, the noodles and 2 pieces of meat made great leftovers the next day. I also ordered a side of potstickers which was also very disappointing. It was very doughy and the meat was weirdly compacted. I've had potstickers before but I'm telling you the meat was like a literal golf ball in terms of consistency. Since I couldn't get past that I don't know what it actually tastes like. The waiter was kind but service was very slow even though it wasn't very busy. read more

I found this Yelp, I was in mood for Chinese. I ordered Kung pap beef dinner. Received it highly disappointed. First the food wasn't seasoned, the beef doesn't taste like beef, nor does it have a typical beef texture resemblance to it. It has a gelatinous texture to it. Secondly the description was incorrect, wasn't spicy. And i order fried rice, it was plain rice to me. Also noodles were included, I didn't read noddles in the description, nor did i order it after review receipt. I called location no answer, by the time i began to eat, there was no way i was going to return to restaurant to question my order. I was home. The only plus was the workers were friendly, which i do appreciate. But this is unacceptable. Love this place. They treat you like family here, amazing service and great authentic food. Growing up with my oma and halmoni cooking for me I was scared I wouldn't find any good authentic Asian food after moving to Tempe. But luckily I found Little Szechuan!
