Came here and i just felt a weird vibe, first order a ice green tea, the server right away said no refills. Ok then was going to order some sashimi when i notice no chef at the bar. Server says they dont server sashimi, what kind of sushi place dorsnt sell sashimi and lastly a bug fell on the server and her reaction maybe me just want to leave. I tried Little Tokyo on a whim. I'm a fan of the sushi offerings in Ashland, but the Lithia Roll here might be the best of them all! Plus I loved the Avocado Bomb! Service was fast & friendly. Cool decor inside too. I wish they had a more extensive craft beer selection. read more

I was greeted and offered a seat right away. The Japanese waitress was very nice. She helped me decide on the rolls I might like. The rolls are very fresh and delicious-like sushi in Japan. This is the real deal! And the prices are very reasonable. The place is quiet and relaxed. It exudes a calm vibe, which is complimented by the warm wood decor and friendly service. It is also much better lit than some of the other sushi places in Ashland, so older eyes will have no problem reading the menu . read more

I came here while I made a pit stop in the town for a lil break on my drive home from San Francisco to Portland. It was empty. I was a little worried that it'll be bad! So, I was wandering around Ashland thinking, 'What should I eat?', when I came across this gem. I was greeted immediately, and given a table and a menu. My drink came soon after. The waitress was very attentive, and could tell when I needed something right away. It was definitely a nice surprise. I ordered the tempura plate, as I haven't had tempura in such a long time. The food came out piping hot. With the tempura came a salad with an Asian dressing (the kind you always get at Asian restaurants - you know tangy sesame like and delicious). Also a side of white rice was accompanying my food. The tempura itself was spot on, and for the price, the amount of food was just right. The only reason this place gets 4 stars instead of 5, really, is that the tempura sauce was a bit more sour than I enjoy. I would have rather had the light, slightly sweet sauce most places offer. For dessert, I had the Mochi Ice Cream. All I have to say shut up and take my money!! So good! I will for sure come back here next time I am in town. read more

This was our second visit to little Tokyo, which is new to the Plaza. We were delighted with the quality of the sushi. Stopped here on a hot day with our two boys. Staff was nice and we enjoyed sitting by the river but the food was just so so. Basically every roll is spicy which isn't that great if you're not into spiciness. I actually enjoy spicy sushi but appreciate having different flavor options. This was a really good place. Only went once, for an early dinner, but the staff was friendly and efficient, making me feel immediately at home, just like other top-notch sushi bars. Had a tall cold sake, some great eel with rice, some yellowtail sushi, and was even given a complimentary appetizer to start me off. I am trying to get in touch with the manager. I went for lunch. And wanted to have a nice pleasant meal. I told the waiter very explicitly: NO MAYONNAISE on ANYTHING as I ordered the Tokyo Special. The waiter brought out my meal and there was mayo mixed into the crabmeat in the rainbow roll it came with: I explicitly said no mayo. I told the waiter kindly that I had asked for no mayo. And if I could get a replacement roll. This is a 30.00 meal -- the least I can get are the accommodations for the dietary restrictions I explicitly asked for. I ask if they can remake the roll for me as I can't eat it: instead of the crabmeat to do cucumber or avocado inside. The waiter brings me out a replacement cucumber and avocado roll: not a replacement Rainbow Roll (which I had ordered but couldn't eat because he brings me a roll with mayo in it when I explicitly said: no mayonnaise on anything). So now I'm paying 30.00 for something I didn't order. He brings me the bill: at it is 34.00: I ask what the extra charge is for: he says it's for half the price of the cucumber avocado roll and I'm like: ABSOLUTELY NOT. I asked explicitly for no mayo and he said he misunderstood me and thought I meant no spicy mayo: No, I meant no mayo which is why I explicitly said, "no mayo on anything please." why bring me a roll with mayo mixed in it? I was very clear, kind, and communicative. If i say: no mayo on anything then I mean no mayo on anything. He then chastises me and defines what a Rainbow Roll is to me. No. Where i come from a Rainbow Roll doesn't have mayo in it: and especially when I say: NO MAYO, that is what I mean. The restaurant then charges me 30.00 - the full price of the meal that I would not have ordered if I knew I was just going to get a cucumber and avocado roll or a roll with mayonnaise in it. I'm stunned at this point - I can't believe the way I'm being treated -- and for paying 30.00 for this meal and this treatment. The waiter tells me that I got a free cucumber and avocado roll out of it and I'm just appalled. I didn't even want to give them my money and will never return. I can't believe I was gaslit by a waiter here to make me feel crazy for wanting what I had asked for and then be charged extra for a misunderstanding and a mistake he made. I'm going to dispute the charge on my credit card. Mediocre food, expensive for what it is, condescending young waiter who misunderstood what I explicitly asked for: TWICE. And no one from management makes a move to offer a discount in fact, they try to charge me extra. Never again. read more

This place may be called Little Tokyo, but the spicy ramen has BIG flavor. Ya know how the noodles in ramen don't usually have flavor? The only flavor is in the broth? That sucks. This ramen is not that way. The flavor has somehow been injected into the noodle. I'm a very satisfied customer. Good ramen. Very VERY good spicy ramen. Trust me. Middle-pack sushi place with good location. Outdoor seating in the back is very nice with views of the Ashland creek along Calle Guanajuato. Food was pretty good. Typical of the modern American sushi, lots of sauces hide the true quality of the fish. But this American prefers that and the fish actually seemed pretty fresh anyway. Service was a bit slow as the staff seemed new. But I've noticed as a whole that the summer staff of most Ashland restaurants seemed to lack experience. Maybe that's just a thing here. read more

I tried ordering food for pick-up, and when I arrived, they hadn't even started on the food order. It wasn't busy, and the staff were just sitting down at a table on their phones. They apologized to me, and said "they forgot about the order, we'll go ahead and get started on it". I just came back in 20ish minutes, because I was trying to grab a quick bite on my "lunch" break at work. Other than that mishap, the food was pretty good! A little expensive, but definitely worth it when you compare the cost to other sushi places in town. Sushi rolls were tasty and creative, but the real standout was the straight-up sashimi. Some of the freshest fish I've had in the valley.

Went there for lunch on Monday, which wasn't the plan. The plan was foiled by an unexpectedly closed restaurant, so after some aimless wandering, we ended up at Little Tokyo. We each had bento boxes with potstickers. I had the chicken katsu and Mark had the chicken teriyaki. We shared a large Sapporo. I asked to substitute avocado maki for the california roll and they were fine with that. The potstickers were fried perfection with a sweet, salty, slightly sour dipping sauce. The katsu was crunchy, but the sauce was like no katsu sauce I've ever had, more savory than sweet, with onions and mushrooms. At first I was pleased and intrigued. But after a while the sauce couldn't compete with the other strong flavors and I found myself dipping the chicken into Mark's teriyaki sauce, which was delicious and plentiful. We enjoyed the meal so much that we went back for dinner last night. We both got the same thing, only this time I asked to get the katsu with no sauce and some teriyaki on the side. They were very accommodating and again, the potstickers was perfection, everything was so yummy. Little Tokyo will definitely be added to our list of favorites on our yearly Ashland vacation. read more

One of the best sushi I have in the US! The temperature of their sashimi was spot on which made the texture unbelievable, the chef also master the size and thickness of the fish... they were just perfect in every aspect, melted into your mouth the best of the best sashimi experience. The presentation of jalapeños poppers was beautiful, and it tasted just as good, none greasy in any way, light, thin and crispy tempura coat covered with still fresh green jalapeños.
