Don't get anything else...nothing on the menu is even remotely comparable to their burgers...trust me...I and many have tried...and everyone comes back to one undeniable fact. Came here to get what we hoped was a reasonably priced but decent bar type meal. Got nachos & a bowl of chili. The nachos were disgusting and hard to eat with the liquid cheese poured all over them. The flavor was not good. Ditto for the chili. For a chili that's called 'Carol's famous chili' it was completely lacking in flavor and ingredients. It seemed to be mostly tomatoes and tomato sauce. We're regulars, and it truly is our "Cheers" for a neighborhood place that you can feel just am comfortable taking guests as you can going in T-Shirts and Jeans after watching your kids hockey or baseball game. As for beer selection: The Molson on tap is always perfect, and much appreciated as many restaurants don't stock Molson. I was here with my brother and I had a pleasant experience. It was a bit slow when we went in but it was the middle of a weekday if memory serves correctly. The way this place is decorated is very cute and unique for Grosse Pointe. The food is decent for bar food and they seemed to have a lot of drinks to select from. Was not impressed with previous visits before new owner took over but dinner tonight was REALLY enjoyable! Tried my husbands chili and it was easily the best chili outside of my own that I've had. Wings were good, fried cauliflower was good; nothing fancy just doing a good job with bar standards and that's what I was in the mood for. Side of fries was a really big basket to share, hot and crisp but not overdone. Known for their burgers but I've had a couple recently and wasn't it the mood for that on this visit (husband enjoyed his!) Definitely a nice little spot. A smaller menu focusing on mainly sandwiches and burgers, the food we ordered was very tasty. They have freshly ground meat delivered daily, which is a nice touch and surprising given the prices on the food, which I found to be very reasonable. It's a small restaurant and bar, kind of dark, which contributes to it feeling like a hole in the wall. It's also set a little back off the street and next to a bigger restaurant, so I can see how this place might go overlooked. Our server was really nice and personable, and chatted and joked with us the whole time we were there. Their drinks are a touch pricy, but it does look like they run specials, and I don't often drink alcohol when I'm eating a meal, so this isn't a big deal for me. For sure will be back. read more

Garbage. Ordered Togo a veggie sandwich fries and onion rings . Subbed cheddar for Swiss they gave me American on a dry piece of rye with no thousand island 1 piece of lettuce and soggy tomatoes. Fries and rings were cold. I called to let them know the order was messed up and was told I don't know the difference between American and cheddar ( I have worked in hospitality for 15 years idiot) and that everything was fried fresh! I understand it's made fresh to order but was cold when I arrived ( which was within 20 minutes of ordering) reality is when I called to let them know I didn't call because I want something for free . It's to make you aware orders are going out wrong and we are paying for it not you. So keep you dry a$$ sandwiches and cold sides I will spend my money elsewhere no problem! I moved into grosse pointe in September of 2015. I'm moving September 2016 and the main reason is I feel not welcome. I stopped dining in the gp area shortly after moving here because of always being felt like I was being mistreated because of my skin color. So I had a hankering for a burger and fries and was fed up with the local coney island seen. So after a long hard day of work I wanted beer and burger and since its my last week in the area I decided to yelp best burger and bar and little Tony's popped up. Being established for over 40 years and voted top 25 burger places in the area,you'd think there would be more than 40 reviews. So I started reading and they had really good reviews except one. The thing that made me go was the owner responded to the disgruntled customers review and respectfully might I add. I was sold! So I Google my directions there and found this nice little patio with plenty of tables with umbrellas and very spacious that leads right to the inside if that's your choice. As soon as I get in I think"nice little getaway spot!" I was greeted instantly and respectfully by the cook letting me know the bartender would be right with me. Now the bartender approaches me as if I've been coming here for years. Very nice and asking what all he can do for me. I asked for a draft and it was there with a smile followed by can I get you a menu? When I ordered my food not only did he ask how I wanted my burger cooked but he wanted to know how I liked my fries as in crispy or not. Also had conversation and not just am I new in the area stuff. How's your day going? Watch the tigers? The staff all spoke with a smile and the bartender told me I could call in my orders just ask for him and he'd take care of it. I forgot his name because I was so impressed with their hospitality here. My only hangups are,they close at 11pm and the gnats at the bar. Please use a bowl of apple cider vinegar out at night and saran wrap all liquor bottles. Also there are only 3 beers on tao but a nice full bar. My food,amazing. Burger nice and juicy and fries nice and fresh. I'm am gonna travel back to little Tony's in the future just for the fact the chili needs to be tried. I have been going to Little Tonys for years and it never disappoints (well unless you have a large group ...) If you are going to come here then order a burger! They are great!!! Serve them with fries and a cup of cheese and you are in heaven!!! My husband and I stopped at Little Tony's today for a nice alfresco lunch and to order what was touted as the best hamburger in Detroit. I ordered my favorite, Blue Cheese Burger, medium rare and paid extra for the lettuce leaf and 2 tomato slices. My husband got a regular hamburger and onion rings. Now, I love Blue Cheese and its sharp, chunky, creamy taste against medium rare beef and I was really looking forward to this. Should have stayed home! The 'cheese' on this one was a splat of thin, runny blue cheese-flavored salad dressing. I cook so I know salad dressing when I see it. It was also slopped and pooled over the side of the burger, soaking into the bun. It hardly resembled a Best in Detroit burger. Hubby's onion rings and hamburger was ok, but then so are similar burgers almost everywhere--even Irish Coffee's burgers just up Mack Ave. No refill on my cola, either. It's as if they just don't care. On the other hand, Libby, our waitress, was personable, polite and professional. When we asked if the hamburger was sirloin or ground round, she honestly said she didn't know because she was new. But she quickly found out and came back to tell us it was ground round. She, unlike her employer, did seem to care. Won't go back and can't give it a good recommendation. I can make better myself or go somewhere where they do care. read more

Really good burger! I am fairly new to the area and co-workers were talking about best burger places and Little Tony's popped up. Listening to their description made my mouth water. So I had to go and get this great burger. Burger was juicy and delicious! But! it's not just the burger... French fries were amazing! I am very picky when it comes to fries. I like them hot and really crispy. It is rare to go to a place and get them the way I like them. Little Tony's fries were perfect! The fried pickles were good, but not as expected. I am used to getting the pickle chips that are breaded and fried. These though, were dill spears that were breaded and fried. Still fantastic, just different. Congrats Little Tony's! I must wonder what year it was that Little tony's was voted "Best Burger on the East Side." Was it 1979? We have been dining here for over 20 years and as I mentioned previously the food is just average. Not bad, but not great. Not every restaurant can make the "varsity team." Average is nothing to be ashamed of. And, if the "manager" does not believe that his restaurant does not nickel and dime charge for things like raw onion on the burger then perhaps he should take a look at what the waitresses are writing up on the bills. If rather than addressing feedback regarding value and slow service, on a weekday afternoon in a nearly empty restaurant, the only thing that the "manager" can think of in response is to suggest that we, as long time patrons, should dine at McDonald's then perhaps it is time to end twenty years of patronage. We will be sure to pass the "manager's" suggestion along to others with whom we have shared meals at Little tony's. read more

I was here 2 separate time this weekend and both were good and very close to being excellent. The first was Fri. and Sat. night ordered 1/2lb burger with cheese and fries. Both were awesome. The problem was Saturdays cook staff. I was sitting at the bar watching the Tigers game. The kids working the grill were so obnoxious. It was like romper room with one of them. After hearing the waitress ask the fry guy where her fries were he very loudly replied "I just cook this shit and put it up there" . If you bring your kids, they give you lots of crayons and coloring pages to keep them busy while you wait for the food. Treated my boyfriend and father to the best bar burger by far! They had the blue burger with bacon and said it was delicious. I made the mistake of having the third pound burger instead of the half pounder. Their burgers looked incredible. The service was excellent. We ordered ice teas and the waitress brought a whole pitcher to the table and kept refilling our glasses. My Dad has Parkinsons and had a little trouble ordering his burger, she was so helpful and patient. Don't miss out on the onion rings and clam strips when you go. This is my comfort food go-to. Really casual place with good burgers you can rely on. Their chili is also always good and a favorite of mine. I dropped one star because the service isn't always the best. I grew up coming here and have been relatively content in past visits. Every time I sit at the bar it is enjoyable however today I chose to sit outside. This was clearly a mistake for a number of reasons. After sitting down, the waitress comes out a while later and asked if I wanted to sit at another table because the one I was at was dirty. She opted not to wipe it down for me. I ordered a drink and indicated that I would order some food later. A good twenty minutes passes before she asked if I wanted any food. She happened to ask as she was closing the patio so I opted not to order anything. I'm sure I will be back but the complete indifference of the staff really did not sit well with me. They also lost about $10 in food and additional drinks as I opted to go elsewhere. read more

It takes her forever to take an order, she rarely brings food out when it's ready, and then she pretends like everything is just great when she finally comes by. As others have said, this place makes very good burgers. However, the service can be quite slow if you go in for lunch, even when the place is not very full. Additionally, the only food they manage to do adequately is their burgers, dont even bother ordering anything else.
