Found Little Venice last minute while attending the Orchid Expo in Johnson City. How did we do ? Crowded for a Sunday with lots of groups and families. I wanted to see some mafia guys holding court .. Ok the bread was cold - wahhh! The Calamari was light and crispy and not chewy! We had Ravioli with meat sauce (was delicious- not heavy) Pasta Trio with Fettuccine w/not enough Alfredo sauce (making it lumpy and dry) Ravioli (light and fluffy and very good) Lasagna (best I've had in ages! not heavy, the ricotta was so fluffy, the pasta super thin and light). The Caesar salad was huge with big chunks of Parmesan Service was excellent and a nice way to close out a week ! read more

Exceptional food! Recommended by my customer, this place is a gem. Lunch visit, half portion ravioli with red sauce and meat log, wow! My customer had wedding soup (big bowl!) and meat logs with red sauce. My colleague had a full portion of ravioli and a Caesar salad. The shaved parm cheese on the salad was a terrific bonus! By far, my favorite local Italian restaurant. Nowhere else even comes close. I absolutely LOVE Little Venice. I have for almost a half century. It was where I used to take my first girlfriend out to dinner...where I bought my first bottle of wine (Lancer's Rose')...and where I always, ALWAYS order the same thing: full order of ravioli with lots of extra sauce, meat logs, salad with the French dressing, and Lambrusco. If I make it to heaven, I'm hoping THAT will be my meal for eternity. Keep on keeping on, Little Venice. It's honestly upsetting to write this, because Little Venice used to be one of the best restaurants in Binghamton. Unfortunately, it's not even close to what it once was. The last few times we've been here, the food has arrived like warm or cold. The quality overall has gone downhill, some in our party couldn't even eat their meal last time we went. Service is just meh--not terrible, but certainly not attentive or memorable. What makes this especially disappointing is the contrast between what Little Venice was and what it is now. This used to be THE BEST, a place you'd confidently recommend to anyone. At this point, I would honestly choose almost anywhere else. First impressions are everything, and unfortunately, mine was disappointing enough that I never even got to try the food. I stopped in between work shifts hoping for a nice Italian meal, but my experience ended before it really began. During the quieter 4-5pm hour, with a steady stream of waitstaff moving in and out and other diners being served, I sat at my table for 15-20 minutes without a single acknowledgment. The guest seated next to me was promptly greeted, given bread service, and had his meal served, while I sat invisible. At one point, a waiter rushed past and dropped bread on my table without a word. The bread looked hard and unappetizing, and despite trying to flag someone down, no one noticed me. I've dined out countless times, but this was the first time in my life I felt so ignored that I walked out without ordering. I left disappointed and grabbed fast food instead. Sadly, I can't speak to the food itself, but I can say that service--or lack of it--can make or break an experience, and in this case, it ruined mine. read more

Been 7 years since my last review so last night's experience needs an update. My bride and I arrive at around 5:15 and then waited 15 minutes for the server to take a drink order. So okay, not the worst offense but it's becoming clear that we're moving at the speed of smell here. 20 minutes later we finally get our order in for a calamari app, Philly cheese sandwich and spaghetti and meatballs. 20 minutes later we get this plate of slimy rubber O-rings with fried crumbs all around (I'll post a picture) but this was embarrassing calamari. So we're now an hour and 5 minutes into this adventure when our dinner finally arrives. To be honest, it was pretty good. The spaghetti and meatballs were to die for. I love their marinara but some people say it's too sweet. It is sweet and not my preference but it was delicious. I looked at the reviews before we came here and I always get a kick out of the negative reviews where someone comes with a group of 25 and complained that the service was slow. Or the vegan that didn't see a bale of hay on the menu. Then there is always the snowflake that didn't like the way the server wore her face diaper during Covid so I was looking forward to giving a rave update review. We've had a great time here for the past 20 years. Sadly, I can't do that, the food has gone down hill and the service was glacially slow. This was one of the worst meals I have ever had. I was with a large group of seniors and we were placed in one of the side rooms, because of our size. The two people assigned to us were pleasant and helpful, but even though bread and butter were served, we had no cutlery on the table. The meals were late in arriving and sub par. I blame the kitchen. Two of the pizzas ordered were served after everyone else had eaten. One of them was not even fully baked. I ordered Mamma's chicken and the cutlets were burnt on one side, so they were dry and tasteless. The "side" of roast potatoes were so charred they were like charcoals. Several people commented that their entrees were overcooked and dry. If they could not accommodate us they should have said so. To serve us such poor quality meals, at regular prices is inexcusable. read more

I recently tried Little Venice for the first time. I loved it so much I came back again a second time that week and that time, I brought family members. Both times the service was spectacular. The food is great! They have all of the Italian standards. There is a great selection of wine. The ambience is very old school, but in a good way. It's very brown and there are old portraits hanging throughout the restaurant. Clean restrooms. All in all, a great neighborhood place! read more

My brother and I went there and it was disappointing. Their "meat logs" looked like turds and their chicken Alfredo dish looked like the sauce came out of a jar. Huge portions for spaghetti dishes. I got to watch people eat for 25 min while waiting for my take out order that was put in 45 min prior to that over the phone. Pizza was fine, chick parm sandwiches were a hit, and if I can tell you anything, DON'T get the MEAT LOG. I was feeling spunky and thought I would try it. Gross. I don't even know where to start with this place. I'm over 50 years old and I can honestly say I've never felt more disrespected in a restaurant in my entire life. We waited ten minutes just to get a table, another twenty before a waiter even looked in our direction, and then forty more before we had silverware. Not because they brought it, but because we had to specifically ask for it like beggars at a medieval feast. At that point I was ready to whittle a fork out of the chair legs. The first sign of the disaster should've been the bread. They dumped down a cold, half-cut loaf like it had just been stolen from a gas station shelf and tossed it on a plate with a pile of little butter packets. Italian hospitality? Please. It looked like they raided an airplane galley. And then came the food. We ordered three pastas, chicken parm, lasagna, calamari, and a salad. The salad was literally a mound of shredded lettuce with three whole tomatoes sitting on top like bocce balls and soggy croutons that could double as sponges. The calamari was the only edible thing but came without lemon, like giving someone a bicycle with no wheels. The pastas were just sad, clumpy piles of refrigerator noodles with barely any sauce, a couple shrimp tossed in like they regretted buying them, and the texture of old rubber bands. The chicken parm was a pale block of boiled chicken breast drowning in tomato sauce with a pathetic little side of cold spaghetti that tasted like leftovers from a hospital cafeteria. And the lasagna... dear God, the lasagna. It was a soft slab of dough smothered under a gallon of watery tomato sauce and a sprinkle of cheese. I've had frozen lasagna from Trader Joe's that could win awards compared to this monstrosity. But the cherry on this rotten cake was the bathroom. I walked into the men's room and the toilet literally had pee sitting on the seat, like a shining warning from the universe that I should've left hours ago. I don't care if the food was bad, how do you run a business where your customers have to hover over a public toilet like it's an Olympic sport? I've been on road trips in sketchy gas stations in the middle of nowhere that had more respect for cleanliness. I left feeling like I had just survived a social experiment. The whole thing was an insult to Italian cuisine, to dining in general, and to anyone over 50 who deserves basic dignity. If this place is still open in a year, it'll only be because people are too polite to run screaming after the bread hits the table. read more

My wife and her family have been talking up Little Venice for nearly 10 years and I finally was visiting the area and got to try it. I think it mostly met their praise. First thing, this place closes at 8pm on most weeknights and 9pm on weekends which is a bit early. Keep that in mind if you're going out. We were seated and put in our order pretty quickly. It took a bit to get bread but our server was very busy so I get it. The food took quite a while, nearly 50 minutes, and unfortunately it was not hot. I think it had been done and the server was just so slammed with tables that it sat and cooled a bit. I ordered the spaghetti with meat logs because I have heard mythical tales of these meat logs for so long that of course I had to try them. I have to say, the spaghetti was pretty good, I really loved the sauce, but the meat logs were just okay. They were a bit salty and I think I could have done without them. The portion I received was HUGE (see the picture). Definitely the thing to order if you're hungry and want some leftovers. We also ordered cannolis, which were pretty good. Everyone else enjoyed their food in our group. I get the hype that my in-laws have for the pasta sauce and the overall food, but not for the meat logs. Next time I'm back in the area, I'll try something else, but will definitely get a side of spaghetti. read more

Everything I had was fantastic and I could drink the sauce I had wedding soup to start and they gave me bread with the marinara sauce. The portions are huge. I got the chicken parmigiana with a side of homemade ravioli. Worth the upgrade. To go, I got the spaghetti and meat logs... yes meat logs. They were great. Loved it! I came here with 15 women besides myself during a weekend getaway for an affinity group I belong to and we were put into the Venetian Room which was perfect for our needs. Morgan was our server and I cannot say enough good things about her. We were not her only table, yet she was attentive and took very good care of us. You can tell when someone is good at what they do and she obviously is. She was very methodical with how she waited on us and made it seem effortless which, when you're dealing with 16 rowdy (but loving and kind) motorcycle riding women, I'm sure it was anything but lol! She took our drink and appetizer orders and in the time it took for her to come back with all the drinks, we were all ready to order our entrees. She took each order, keeping everything separate right from the start so that we could have separate checks (which I don't think is a regular thing there because who even does that for a party of 16!!! and I think she might have "gotten in trouble" for doing that so don't go there expecting that) and got us refills and arranged for substitutions for the more particular individuals in our group. The food was great and fresh and didn't taste like a certain Italian chain restaurant (you know which one) where things can taste like they were frozen. Their sauce is on the sweeter side (I had the rigatoni with Italian sausage) and I loved it. Everyone loved their choices too and I didn't hear a single complaint. We had an amazing experience and the highlight of our visit was Morgan who made the whole night just perfect *Italian fingertips kiss* Muah!! You know you're in for a treat from the minute you walk in to the big (really big) place. The main dining areas are really large and there are many private rooms surrounding them. The place is bright-vibrant filled with people who are all really enjoying the experience. The artwork hanging every is all worth looking at. Our dedicated server hit the ground running and was extremely attentive to our group throughout our dinner. We all started with some drinks. I am always impressed to see people carrying so many [filled] glasses at once on one tray. After a traditional toast, it was off to the races. There was so much food here and such an incredible variety. The one common item that everyone wanted to try were the meat logs here (vs. the traditional meat balls.). The most orders were for the Shrimp and homemade pasta, lasagna, chicken and Veal Parm. The nutshell version was that everyone enjoyed their meal. I had the Lasagna, made with a perfect mix of pasta, meat, cheese and lots and lots of sauce. Plenty of flavor packed into their meals. They are unusually large dishes so if you plan on any of their impressive deserts... save space. I was happy just to have that cup of coffee. This is just a fun place to be with lots of good food and friends. Reminded me of the old Mama Leones in Manhattan. I think their slogan was "Come, Manja, Eat." First time customer driving through was in the mood for Italian. First off by waitress Gianna was spectacular. Spot on service and a great smile very polite. I got the breaded mozzarella for an appetizer and it was just ok. Dinner I ordered the chicken cutlet parm. The chicken Parm was a little dry and not a lot of cheese as you can see in the picture. Little disappointed with that, but the sauce was very good. The absolute star of the show for this meal was the homemade pasta. Had no idea it was homemade. I would absolutely come back here and get pasta with marinara sauce again and again. 10 out of 10. Also, the plating was a little bit dated. As you can see the chicken cutlet came out on an aluminum tray. This is a restaurant not a little pizzeria. I thought it was a nice restaurant inside as well. This place could be spectacular. I need to preface this review with the fact that Little Venice has been TRADITION in my family for decades! Our family grew up on the Northside of Endicott. Mom and dad have received numerous gift cards over the years because it has ALWAYS been their favorite place. They have stock piles of Little Venice's amazing sauce in jars (available for purchase) in their pantry! The number of take out meals they have gotten (mom and dad are in their 70's and 80's) is impossible to count! We have had numerous family/friend events in the "special gathering rooms" in the back of the restaurant, ranging from holidays to wedding anniversary celebrations to the celebration of my brother's 50th heavenly birthday after he passed. And all of these gatherings have drawn family together from multiple states and even countries! That said: the salads are super fresh, the wine is decent and affordable, and the quality of food and service has always been outstanding in the past. Unfortunately, in a recent gathering 12.27.24, our experience was not what we have come to expect. We were a group of at least 12, on a Friday evening with a reservation. To be clear, the servers were excellent, as always! The food - not the best. My husband and I got the shrimp Parmesan (we always get this)- this time it was overdone and gummy. My daughter ordered the chicken parm; also overdone. She upgraded her side to ravioli. Her chicken entree arrived several minutes before her side. When it finally arrived, she got 2 ravioli. TWO (with an upgrade charge??). Let me paint the picture of our drive from Rochester to Binghamton 2 hrs 20 min) for this dinner: My teenager talked about this ravioli like it was "food of the gods!" That's what she experienced on previous trips. She was pumped!! To upgrade her side and to get 2 ravioli .... Just disappointing (and we know, teens take their food seriously!). Add in the awkward wait time when she finished her "just chicken" ....it would have been appropriate to compensate in some way. I think that's fair. Instead, we were told that the kitchen was slammed. ‍ok, I get it. But it was a large party and a very large bill. I'm hoping management will reach out. We really love this place and hope that this is not what we can expect in the future. As the kids have grown up and now have their own kids, Little Venice has continued to be our family's favorite gathering place. But this visit didn't feel right. Have eaten here many times but tonight they were really off. My wife and I both had veal parm dinner. The veal was very thick, heavily breaded and not very tender. I asked for spaghetti and was served linguine which was so al-dente is was almost hard! My wife had ravioli and they were good. Sauce seems way too sweet on this visit. The best part of my entire dinner was the salad with crumbled blue cheese. Very good! My grandson had calamari and again very heavily breaded with large pieces, hint of fish odor and quite tough. He also had mozzarella triangles and they were good. Going to have to think long and hard if we will return. We were very disappointed from a restaurant we previously had loved!
