To celebrate my 67th birthday my girlfriend and I opted for the casual feel of the sleek bar and had a fabulous experience from our first cocktail by bartender Peter to the last dessert! We decided on appetizers: firecracker shrimp and lamb lollipops had me moaning with deliciousness so it's good the place was virtually empty! My friend's scallop risotto made me jealous once we each tried the other's food. Cannot stress how good the food is. Delicious cherry cheesecake and one of the best creme brûlées I've ever had, with enough well torched sugar on top and impossibly creamy custard below. A terrific meal! read more

I was very disappointed with the service we received when we had dinner at Moxie recently. Although our server was very friendly and pleasant, she would often disappear for long periods of time after one in our party had asked for a glass of wine or club soda. At one point, my husband got up and went to the bar to get his own refill as it had been 1/2 since he asked. It appeared that the bar staff did little more than clean glasses behind the bar. It took a VERY long time for us to receive each course of our meals. Additionally dirty dishes and glassware remained at our spots long after they were empty. There appeared to be no bussing. We sat down at 6:15 and finally got our checks at 9:30pm. Unfortunately, those 10 people vin our group will not return. read more

Food was great. Our family includes meat eaters, seafood fans and a vegetarian. Everyone was pleased. Our server James was friendly and helpful without being intrusive. A wonderful dining experience. Will definitely go again. Great but bewilderingly large drinks menu. Need to work my way through that over time. The old fashioned variation. I had was very good. Ask for the steaks with a little extra char on the outside with inside as you prefer it. My Delmonico steak was excellent as was the filet with a shrimp Sheree that my daughter ordered. Ok, another awesome dinner tonight at Moxie. We noticed during our last trip they had wagyu steaks on the menu so we had to go back to try. I've never had such a tender steak before... Ever. This literally almost melts in your mouth. I had the 14oz, my wife had a smaller cut Manhatten filet about 6oz. Lamb chops & Shrimp for appetizers, Lobster mashed potatoes for a side, Strawberry Cheesecake & Chocolate mousse cake for dessert. If you've never had one if these steaks, I seriously suggest you try one. A bit pricey perhaps for some budgets, but well worth it. read more

I've been to Moxie Wood Fire grill twice and it's an interesting venue. The ambiance is very nice. It's modern, warm and inviting. The kitchen is out in the open with a wood fired grill and it's fun to watch. The greeting at the door has been a little cold but the service once seated is top notch. This is a high end eatery but the drinks and appetizers are very reasonably priced. They do a variety of steaks starting around $40 and heading north depending on what you order.the appetizers are great! Very delicious and they make the best calamari ever! My wife had the Ribeye last time we went and it was perfect. I'm giving it 3 stars because of the Moxie Burger I ordered. If you are going to serve me a $26 hamburger, you really need to get it right. They asked how I wanted it cooked so I told them; medium rare. What I got was well done but I didn't complain, it was ok. The bacon was more like beef jerky but I don't think hamburgers are their specialty. I was really looking forward to the shoestring fries which are fried in beef tallow but those also were over cooked. I do expect restaurants to do the easy things right--especially if you're going to charge $26 for a hamburger. A bacon and cheese Whopper at Burger King is 1/4th the cost and in the 20 years I've been getting those, never once was I disappointed. So I guess the message is stick to the steaks. It's pricey but they do great with their focus menu items. I certainly will go back. read more

What a gem in our town! Moxie offers a fine dining experience unlike any other in the area. We were easily able to make a dinner reservation online for the same day. The restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside, but don't let that fool you. Parking is ample. My husband and I found the entrance on the side of the building. Once we walked inside, we were met with a warm, cozy environment, friendly greetings from the hostesses, and delicious smells from the wood burning oven. We were promptly seated in a booth and greeted by our server, Bobby. He was funny and attentive. The menus are presented on a tablet. There are photos of every food and drink item offered which makes ordering easy. The food was pretty great. I opted for the salmon. I asked for it to be cooked in the Milanese butter instead of the apricot glaze, which they were happy to do for me. I highly recommend trying the barrel aged old fashioned. We look forward to returning to Moxie time and time again. read more

I've been there twice, once for my husband and I's first anniversary, and then again when my parents came to town last month. Both times the food was *amazing.* Their delmonico is amazing (and when you say "hard sear the outside, bloody on the inside" - they do it right!) as is their creme brulee. They are also really helpful if you have food issues (I have to avoid onion and garlic due to a fairly painful intolerance - and a lot of places just won't even try to minimize their use, these guys are happy to talk you through the options and where they can and cannot cut it, and they never make you feel like you're being difficult for asking). Service has always been perfect, and although the outside makes you think it's going to be a bit of a dive, it's *beautiful* inside, and is a much classier restaurant than you expect when you first walk up.. It's not a cheap night out, but it's worth every penny, and is not one of those "fine dining prices but you are paying for the ambience, not quality of food" places - it's legitimately beautiful AND delicious. It's absolutely top of my list of favorite places in the Binghamton area. read more

The food is absolutely delicious. I wish I had got the delmonico but I got the filet instead. I'm always more of a delmonico guy. The lobster mashed potatoes are a must. They are heavenly. The French onion soup was good too. My wife got the tenderloin and shrimp skewers and she loved them. The shrimp was very well seasoned. The service was great. The food here is amazing. I had escargot for an app, the garlic butter was perfect and the bread croutons went perfectly with it. My wife got the ahi tuna. Fresh ground wasabi was awesome with it. I had the 32 ounce tomahawk. Cooked perfectly medium rare. The mushrooms and onions were delicious and it even came out with a burbon old fashioned on the cutting board. My wife had a fillet with lump blue crab. It was so good, expensive but very classy, the waitress was fantastic. We will be going back for sure. Oh...the coffee and dessert was fantastic too. We split a peanut butter pie. Can't wait to go back here to this local gem. The wood fire is for real. 6 stars on this one read more

Ok, so the VP took the IT boys out our second night and she tried to out do the McCoys Chop House but I feel they fell short, but not by much. The ambience is very nice, I really like the two story layout. I didn't like sitting at a high top type of table and I didn't like that they split us up into two tables, but there wasn't much I can do. Our mission was to try a Wagyu steak. They didn't have enough in inventory for all of us, which was disappointing. Me and the other manager, as well as theVP, all gave up the opportunity so that the real hard workers could indulge. The wine flowed and we were drinking a Malbec. It was dry and delicious and went very well with the steak. Everyone tried some appetizers and was told to surf the turf. Overall the meal was great. A few things knocked the score from a 5 to a 4, but I can imagine that on a different day they would reach the 5 star rating from me. read more

Could have been a lot better.... Valentines Day dinner was a big disappointment. Steaks ordered medium rare and served red/raw. Sent back to the grill, returned crispy on the outside and still raw inside. Quality of beef not worthy of the price charged. And to make it more appetizing, order a gin and tonic. You will be charged for the gin and for the water separately it is mixed with. We felt bad for the staff who tried to compensate for their employer's poor food quality, but I left with my wife and returned home hungry. read more

First time back since the pandemic and this may be one of the best meals that I have had at Moxies. Firecracker shrimp with bang bang sauce were perfectly cooked and sauced - a long time favorite and worth ordering every time. Followed with featured duck breast appetizer - best when you can experience a complete bite. Thrilled with the grilled halibut from the special Alaskan menu - a chef-narrated dish served with a cucumber and heirloom tomato salad and spinach feta couscous - the spicy sriracha mayo drizzle is similar to the bang bang sauce. And if you think the red wines are too expensive - select the Cline Old Vine - a lighter and peppery match to the halibut. Why not a perfect score? A) this is a nice restaurant and the tablet menu is a miss. Too many clicks to identify a dinner choice, too difficult to identify the a la carte items vs thoughtful pairings and weak graphic design (bad design, confusing layout, typos, erratic alignment). B) it's loud. Always has been but it remains a disappointment. C) one piece of duck was raw (not even blue) and you are expecting a lot. D) most damning? Uninvited, the bartender added a lemon twist to our sparkling wine starters... why I have to ask. It's not a champagne cocktail unless you add bitters and sugar. And we didn't. Then you can add your twist of lemon. But it's not what I ordered and it's not right. And did I mention that a half pour had a new bottle added to it? And then some crazy back and forth dumping from one glass and topping up to make them level and match the fizz? Never seen such a thing and never cool to top a glass with a different bottle. I won't sit at the bar again. But I will go back. read more

I ordered an old fashion which was on the specials list. i was not told there is a $15 version or a $40 version. When I asked about it - the manager tried to educate me on the difference in cost of elite liquors. I get it sir what I'm upset about is that you're deceitful about costs. maybe hand your customer a digital menu and have your staff simply say this is how you use it so they can see for themselves what cost is instead of letting your wait staff (who will be tipped on final bill) to decide what customer wants. read more
