I've been wanting to try this place for a while and sadly didn't have the same 5 star experience others had. Service took a little longer than I felt it should have as there was not many others in the restaurant and our server was standing in the corner for about 10 minutes making eye contact with us without taking our order. By the time she came to take our drink order, we had already decided on everything we wanted to eat. I'm not sure if the Brussels sprouts are meant to be EXTREMELY crispy but there wasn't a bite of the nice chewy vegetable. I definitely feel like they were burnt. I thought okay maybe this is how they're supposed to be but the chicken on my Mac and cheese was practically burnt as well. I know the chicken is corn meal but mine was basically black. I saw pics of it on here looking much better but was definitely disappointed. Not sure if they had an off night but wasn't the experience I was hoping for. read more

THIS PLACE IS A SALEM HIDDEN GEM!!!! I have driven by this place a few times, and always thought it was more of a "market" style of store. Finally stopped in, and WOW! I was so excited to try it for Father's Day, and we were NOT disappointed! Definitely a great spot to eat outside, and the menu is impressive! Really GOOD food is hard to come by in Salem, and this is going to be our NEW favorite spot! For Father's Day, they had a few specials not typically on the menu, but, let's DIVE IN! Let's talk burgers..... These are not your typical burgers. They are SMASH burgers, and the meat to bun ratio is perfect (if you're a burger person, you know what I mean... if the bun is too thick, you can't taste the patty, let alone get a good bite to really taste the flavors.) I had one of the specials for the day, it was a BBQ smash burger with bleu cheese, thick bacon and grilled onions... (you can NEVER go wrong with bleu cheese on a burger first of all....) IT WAS INSANELY delicious. Perfect marriage of salty and sweet with the cheese and bbq sauce. This, in my opinion should be a regular menu item (just sayin'!) The fries are REALLY yummy, and definitely not the "typical" fry. Handmade, spiraled-ish (but not curly) and you can customize dipping sauces. I recommend the sriracha aoli. We also had the corn flake crusted chicken sandwich, which was also amazing! Lastly, we got one of the regular smash burgers, which was also delicious! Now, the desserts.... Hospitality cookie is a MUST! Buy several. You won't be disappointed! read more

We ordered the steak and the rips, both of which had amazing flavor; however, the ribs came out cold. They were really busy and they didn't make me pay for the ribs and I just sent them back so I don't believe this is a common occurrence. The steak had great flavor and was cooked medium rare (perfection). Also the IPA on tap was delicious and fresh. Great atmosphere and even though the ribs were cold I'd still come back because they handled the situation promptly and professionally! read more

I really appreciate what the owners have done with this location. My wife and I have been there 3 times in the past 2 months and although the food is good, the service is not consistent. This place is great as is, but will be amazing when they get everything built out! We stopped by randomly on our way home from work when we had to take a detour. They have a good selection of reasonably priced wines and beers, local and not. We got the sweet potato chili and crispy chicken sliders with sweet potato chips. Having heard about the Lively Station for a while I was anxious to give it a try. I was a big fan of Robert's Crossing so having this space back on line was welcome. This morning I stopped by for a pastry on my way home and was fortunate to get the last White Chocolate Fresh Raspberry scone! Wow, it was great, moist but not soggy, a bit of a crispy top and ample size. While this is a small sample of what they have to offer it was enough for me to be anxious to return! Nice selection of specialty foods. Looking forward to a lunch opportunity. read more

Stopped by about 6:30pm on a Monday.. loved the market area has a great wine selection as well as great offerings for charcuterie boards! The food ordering was a little awkward the menu displayed was different than the one online and we felt like we were in the way trying to look at the menu by the counter. We ordered at the counter and were told to go downstairs to the green house, I wasn't aware nor was I made aware they offered table side service. I had the Eternally Grapefruit cocktail which was delicious! I also ordered the grain bowl without goat cheese and found it lacked flavor and portion size for being 12$ maybe the cider vinaigrette could have spiced it up? My friend ordered the chicken sandwich which was tiny other pics on Yelp showed 2 sliders but he only got one... he said it was super good and the fries were yummy. Our food and drinks took a while and we overheard from the table side side that the kitchen and bar was overwhelmed.. understandable but they definitely seemed short staffed. Great new spot in Salem. Have gone here 3 times already. They have tons of local products in their market area (meats, cheeses, wines, etc.) and also do coffee and pastries. This place is amazing! First you have the little store and coffee bar with bakery goodies, and then in the back a really neat bar/restaurant setup. The food alone earns a 5 star. I had the Smash Burger with a side house salad. The burger was perfect size with just the right amount of toppings. It came with lettuce, house pickles, grilled onion, tomato, and burger sauce. The flavors of the toppings and sauce with the meat was perfect! The side salad had mixed greens, delicious pickled onions, sliced grape tomatoes, cucumber and your choice of house dressing (I chose ranch, yum!). My husband got the chicken sandwich which was simple but packed with flavor. And he got the house fries as his side. Homemade spiral large cut fries with perfect seasoning and flavor. They have local beers and wine along with fun house cocktails. I am currently pregnant but I look forward to to returning and trying their cocktails. My husband found two delicious local IPAs that he was very pleased with. The atmosphere and food were wonderful but now the service was superb! Constantly Checked on by either our waitress or another employee passing by. Felt well taken care of but not bombarded to where it was awkward to eat. Overall this was an amazing new find for us and we can't wait to return and find other great dishes, beers, wine, and cocktails. read more

We were impressed from the moment we walked in the door! The store has a wonderful selection of wine and food! Lots of local product. We approached the bakery section and reviewed the lunch menu. We just had to have lunch. The host told us that the bar was not open until 11 am ( we got there around 10:45) but he said we were welcome to seat ourselves in the bar and order lunch prior to that. We entered beautifully restored bar area. . We were greeted by a very pleasant and efficient server. We both had the spiral cut fries and we split the BLT and a vegetarian cheese sandwich. The food was very good! The fries were amazing. The BLT was very good and the vegetarian cheese was exceptional! The bread was perfectly toasted, the two types of cheese were melted to perfection, and the pesto was the perfect compliment! The iced tea and coffee we drank were both fresh brewed. I had to buy a brownie to go, I was too full for dessert. A few hours later I warmed the brownie for about 30 seconds in the microwave. It was very rich and the chocolate melted perfectly! I still have 1/2 left in the fridge, the portion was very generous! We look forward to visiting again to try the Mac and Cheese and the Pork Ragu! We highly recommend Lively Station. read more
