This was my first time using the Livermore Muffler Shop and I'm going to throw them 5 stars all the way! A long story short, I recently bought a very nice 2015 Chevy Silverado truck with a 5.3 liter Vortec V8 engine. It sounded like a quiet sewing machine and not like a truck should sound. (IMO) After reading all his Yelp reviews I knew this was the place to go here in Livermore since they are highly rated. I stopped by their shop yesterday morning and told the owner, Steven that I wanted my truck to sound like a V8 should sound and he installed a Flowmaster 40 series muffler that same day at a very good price. I mentioned that I didn't want to go to loud and he said "if the Flowmaster 40 is to loud, he would warranty his work and install a quieter muffler if I desire and comp his labor". After driving my truck overnight it was a bit to loud so I decided the Flowmaster Delta Flow 50 series would probably be better for me after watching Summit Racing Youtube muffler comparisons video and stopped by to see Steven this morning. I'll be damned, he is going charge me the difference in muffler costs since the 50 series is more and comp the labor like he said..... It doesn't get any better than that, Steven does super clean work, has a great pricing structure and is a man of his word! After reading all of the scary incidents of stolen catalytic converters on Nextdoor. I called my mechanic and he gave me a quote of $165 if I also purchase the Cat Shield from them or $225 if I purchased it myself. I went shopping around...talked to Dublin Muffler and their quote was also high. I then called my favorite body shop....California Reflections and Kevin said they don't, but he referred me to Steven at Livermore Muffler.... I did a quick check on Yelp... and he has 5 stars. No one has five stars.....maybe 4.5 stars, but he has five stars. He said he would put it on if I bought it. Maybe $150 or less depending on what it looked like.... so I ended up buying it from Ebay for $100. It took a couple of days to get here.... and when I bought it in..... he put it on for much less than $150. Along the way... he told me about how he got into the busy of putting cat shield and bar protectors over the catalytic converters. Someone stole his from his Toyota Sequoia.... so he got two for one... since my other car was a Sequoia ... he was able to do it for $250. read more

My car failed smog cert. and the place I originally went to charged me 75$ and said they would look at what needed to be fixed for another 200$ and then mentioned they could also fix it and it would probably cost 1,200$ for the part and labor. So I went home and called around and got ahold of Stephen. He said he could look at it real quick no charge. So I stopped by and he told me what needed to be fixed, he ordered the part and gave me a much better quote than the original spot. One person told me there is only one person to take my car to, Steve Porter at Livermore Muffler. He even dragged me over to meet Steve and then had me crawl under his 55 Chevy to look at the quality of Steve's work. Steve took his time and spend over a full day to do the work on my Camaro. When I picked my car up, I couldn't believe the quality of his workmanship and how much better my car sounded. For a simple muffler replacement, there are probably others who can do a competent job.
