After reading the reviews, I was extremely apprehensive when LG assigned my repair to them. In fact I tried to decline services, but Eduardo told me he was around the corner and I was desperate, so I let him stop by. I had already had a repairman out from another company and they didn't know what to do. Eduardo was professional and knew what was wrong with my fridge. He told me ice has built up in the pipe and to allow my fridge to defrost for 72 hrs and then plus it back in and I would be good to go. He did try to defrost it manually but to be on the safe side we did the 72 hours. Worked like a charm and has been going strong for the last two months with zero issues. This company was hired by third contracted party LG for services repair claim on Saturday, May 10, 2024 for a refrigerator not working. The date was set for Wednesday, May 15, 2024 and GVC gave a window of nine hours to be home 8 AM to 5 PM. They never came nor did the company call or email or return any calls that day when I was calling to find out how much longer they arrived at 5:10 PM walked up to the door, took a picture of himself at the house and doesn't wait or want to talk to the camera(ring) away. The tech doesn't call to say he arrived or leave a note and never got an email to reschedule. And told the LG company, let them know what happened and told them about the timestamp He showed up the next day without notice at all, was there for two minutes and said the motherboard part will take 5 to 10 days It's May 28, 2024 and they won't return my phone calls. They won't keep me updated. I only got one call from GVC asking for proof on May 21. It's been 18 days without a refrigerator freezer and all I want is an update Horrible company!!! kudos to these guys for the awesome repair! So i have an LG refrigerator that have been purchased new just a little over a year from best buy and already have problems with the temperature inside the refrigerator. Notice that my food, drinks and vegetables would spoil not past their shelf life and felt it's not cold enough So i called best buy and they gave me LG repairs no. and called these guys. They checked to see what's wrong and ordered the parts for the unit and repair was done within a week. It didn't take that long for them to install the defective part, in this case, it was the motherboard or main board I think it's the brain of the refrigerator. Called GVC a little after hours and was surprised (but relieved) when I got through to someone. Compressor on our 5yr old fridge went down so we were hoping to be able to get someone in to fix it sharpish. Gus answered the call, and in hearing the desperation on our voice he agreed to be at our house first thing the very next morning. True to his word, Gus turned up a little after 8.30am and got right to work. He diagnosed and confirmed the compressor was indeed broken and thankfully had another on hand so it could be fixed on the spot. Other vendors and we heard back from mentioned a 2-3 week wait period if we wanted the repair done under LG warranty, if not an additional charge of $300 to have it in 2-3 days! I've filed a small claim court against this company for not fixing my ice maker. Mr Gus had missed numerous appointments and his technician is not trained technically. Both of them did not know how to fix the ice maker issue. Whirlpool needs to stop using this company. It's a waste of the consumers' time and money. The court case will be in Stockton Supreme Court tomorrow. I will update the outcome. No one should even call this company or Expeditious Appliance Repairs. Mr Gus owns both of them. The verdict is in. The judge ruled that the owner, Gus has to refund all the fees I've paid him plus the filing fees of $85. The owner, Gus admitted his wrong doing but blamed his technician (Don Cheng) whom he said he has hired by mistake. I believe Don is still working for him. This guy is running a scam business. He changed the company's name to Expeditious Appliance Repairs because the reputation of GVC is so bad that no one would call again. It seems like he's advertising all over the bay area and central valley. Every where he goes, there's customers' complaints. Beware, don't fall into his trap. read more

GVC was contracted by LG to fix a warranty issue on my fridge. They came to do an initial diagnosis and to order the parts for my fridge. During the first visit, one of his technicians completed part of a repair on my fridge and broke the water dispenser during the process. Guss, the owner, advised that he would order me a new part and would be back to fix this along with the other issue with my fridge. After a couple weeks, I still did not hear anything and I had to follow up every few days. When I finally got in contact with Guss, he seemed annoyed that I wanted to know what the status of my repair was. He was abrupt on the phone, and said he will contact me back. I contacted him again after another week and he advised he was still waiting for parts, which I thought was strange since it had already been several weeks. I finally decided to get LG involved to see what the issue was with GVC and why the parts had not arrived. They advised that Guss cancelled the work ticket because he wanted to get paid for the parts before he completed the work on my fridge. He totally lied to me on the phone and was not waiting for any parts to arrive. Not to mention, he was dodging my phone calls because he didn't want to fix the the dispenser his technician broke. I am working with LG for resolution and currently have a damaged fridge that he wants nothing to do with. I have wasted many many hours of my time because of Guss. Gus and his son in law were GREAT. My 3 yr old LG refrigerator stopped cooling and GVC is contracted with LG to do repairs. Gus texted and got the appointment set up. His son in law is the LG specialist and he came out to diagnosis and fix the problem. LG told.me they thought it was the compressor, but it was actually the evap system that was leaking per the hands on testing. GVC ordered the parts and came back to fix it as quickly as possible. They stayed in contact with me and arrived on time to each appointment. Very professional, gave me good advice and pleasant to deal with. Absolute worst customer service and not getting the job done. They've been out to my house 6 times, only two of which they actually confirmed appointment times. Have an ice maker issue with a new LG fridge and they've replaced every part under the sun, I'm sure to get the most money outta LG, and it's now even more broken than before. Gus came that evening at about 6 and diagnosed the issue, but didn't have the correct part, in his truck...the compressor. So we rescheduled for 2 days later and he showed up that day at 7:45 am with the part that was air shipped to him the previous day. About 2 hours later he had the new compressor installed, the R134 replaced and our refer was up and running. Gus was prompt, personable and knew his stuff. You just can't find a top notch appliance repair anywhere. GVC was my 2nd call to fix the same problem on our washing machine. The 1st company went sideways and did not solve the problem - hence my call to GVC. They earned a star for being professional and quick to come out and get the part in stock we needed - just 2 days. That's the good. Now the bad. The follow-up appointment had a 3-5PM window, working around my kids' school pickups and taking time away from running my business. GVC never showed up. No call, no voicemail, nothing. I called Gus at 5:15 to inquire what happened. He said no one was home when his guy arrived - baloney. He then said his guy was in Mountain House and could come in 30 minutes - and I had told him I could not wait, as I had a prior commitment at 6PM. No apology, no follow-up with his tech - he could not even answer what time they came by, when I supposedly was not home - I was home at 2:45. He said he could come the next morning, and I told him it would have to be at 8, since I had plans for my Saturday morning at 10. Gus came out personally on Saturday - again no answers when asked about the previous day, Clearly, he did not follow up with his guy and did not care to try. Then, Gus did not even have the right tools to work on the machine, needing to leave for 15 minutes. Once he finally fixed everything, he asked ME which line was hot and cold water going into the machine. Shouldn't a repair man, with experience, be able to figure this out? If not, know the answer by heart? I doubt he's never worked on a Maytag before. They're all similar. He then said he had figured it out, based on the water line to the dryer for steam. I was charged full price for the repair - not even sure he deducted the service call as promised. Then after he left, I did my first wash. I was rewarded with code HC at the end - code for reversed water lines, per internet search. Just lovely - I had even questioned him to make sure he had it right, and he did not. I had to take time out of my busy weekend to fix the problem thanks to his poor labor. I could clearly see, once hooked up, that a hot water cycle pulled from the hot line, and cold from the cold. If Gus was not sure, he could have done the same test I did.....and seen he had it backwards. I may consider GVC for future repairs if needed.....however, I'll certainly be on the lookout for a more competent and well-reviewed repair shop. As the owner of a marketing business, and being asked for referrals all the time.....GVC failed to earn my vote to add them to my library of references to preferred vendors. read more

So I was foolish and tried another appliance company when my Sub Zero fridge started losing it's cool (get it?). They claimed to specialize in such appliances. They did not. They came out and charged me $85 to tell me they wanted $1400 to recharge the fridge and get it working so they could diagnose it... I could not get a straight answer out of them as to why that was $1400! I called GVC back. Greg came out and recharged the refrigerant for $100. Bam! Fridge is working now He knows that a certain type of slow leak is common on this model and told me what parts they need and how to fix it. Their estimate, parts and labor, for what is essentially a two man rebuild of the cooling system is $600 less than recharging the thing with the other company. I then noticed that the other company is up to some shady shenanigans to try to inflate their Yelp rating... Take your repair business to GVC. I highly recommend GVC. After a large Costo run, our refrigerator stopped working on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. We called Sears, The said they would be out on Tuesday between 8am and noon. We called Sears 2pm on Tuesday after they did not show up or even call to say they were not going to make it. They said "maybe they'll be out after 6:30pm or FRIDAY". We then called Gus. He was at our house by 4pm. He identified and fixed the problem by 4:10pm. The refrigerator is now working fine and our Thanksgiving has been saved :) Thanks to Gus. Our Samsung dryer stopped heating making it difficult to get our clothes dry;) We called GVC after hours intending to leave a message for a call back the following day and to our surprise Gus answered. He told us it would be $40 for a service call and if we decide on repairs 50% would go toward the repair price. I know that may not seem like much but it's better than nothing or a higher service call, right? We had an appointment time between 12 - 3 and Victor showed up a little after 12. He quickly assessed that we needed a heating element and quoted a reasonable price. The best part was he had the part in his truck and my the dryer working in about 1 hour start to finish! TOTALLY disappointed with the level of service and the advice I got. Ethics and discretion could go a long way with these guys. I have a Maytag washing machine that is only 7 years old and has started to make some funny noises while being used. I called GVC because they came highly recommended and I was told they were fair... Couldn't be further from the truth! I made an appointment for a tech to come out and look at my machine with-in a week, I was told there would be a $70 Service fee and that could go towards any repairs that would need to be made. The technician showed up on time as promised and finds a bad drive belt and says I need a new thrust bearing. He told me the cost for changing the thrust bearing would be $300! I told him no thanks because I can buy a new washer for about the same price. When it was all said and done I owed this guy $242.00 for a new belt and 30 mins worth of work!!! What this guy failed to tell me over the phone was that in addition to the $70 service fee, they also charge $130 an hour for labor!!! So my bill broke down like this. $70 Service fee. $130 Labor. $42 New belt = $242. When I was horrified with the bill and after we went back and forth for about 10 mins on how he could justify charging that kind of money for the amount of work he did... He then said, "Well I'll knock off $45 to bring it down to $197." So there you go... $197 for a new belt and 30 mins of work... It's Unethical and not good business. If you are planning on using these guys for anything, make sure they give you a breakdown of their fees upfront. It's not just a $70 visit fee; that $130 an hour for labor will be hiding too. read more

l called to see if I could get someone to come take a look at my fridge and Gus was able to get me scheduled for an appointment for the next day. Phil called an hour before my appointment to say he could come out earlier if I was available, which was great. He was able to quickly assess the problem but unfortunately didn't have the part on hand. He called and found it close by and said he could go get it and come back, or schedule a time to return. I opted for same day repair, so off he went, and he returned about 40 minutes later. The repair was quick, very reasonably priced and now my fridge is working perfectly. Normally it doesn't pay to repair a microwave oven, just replace it. But this time I had a 36" over the range microwave that wasn't going to be easy to find or cheap to replace. My dryer stopped working and my previous repairman is apparently no longer in business. I came to Yelp, found GVC and called Gus. He called back right away and came out that day. I needed a new heating element and some other assorted parts. He got the parts the next day and came out and installed them. He ran a load and made sure it worked. I wrote a check and off he went. As he drove off, I started a load of laundry that had piled up. Within minutes, my WASHER went out. I called Gus back and he sent a guy out and we repeated the process on my washer. I did get a small discount because I'd done so much business in a short time. I did find the labor rate a bit high but will most likely use them again if I have a need. read more

GVC called me back and sent a technician out quickly, so I will give them an extra star for that. But, here was my experience: My 1990 built in sub zero was not cooling well. So, I called GVC Appliance Repair to come look at the refrigerator. I was traveling at the time, but my girlfriend was home, so I had GVC come to our house as quickly as they could to look at the fridge. I recieved a quote from GVC, while on the plane, and it was for $1,100. Oh no! The quote said the fridge needed $400 worth of parts and $700 worth of labor (even though the repair was going to take only 1.5 to 2 hours...). I immediately emailed them back, said thanks for the quote, and to have them forward me information on their warranty for service. I never got a response back... When I got off the plane I called me girlfriend to see how the initial review went. She said the technician opened the refrigerator's door, saw the small amount of ice build up, closed the door, and quoted that price. The technician did not open anything else on the fridge up! The technician was also only there for about 20 minutes. So, we decided we needed a second opinion. We called HD Home Services, Mario, and recieved some amazing service. GVC cost me $40 up front with nothing but a $1100 quote. Mario cost me $60 up front and in total it was $150 for a now perfrctly working refrigerator! GVC is an extraordinary company. I called them to help address a problem with my GE washing machine. The first repair technician identified a problem with the motor. We obtained a motor (under warranty) from GE. A second repair technician installed the motor, and then discovered the problem extended to the control board. *GVC did not charge me for the installation of the motor when that didn't fix the problem.* Instead, I ordered a new control board (also under warranty) and GVC came back and installed it. However, that still didn't solve the problem and the GVC technician tried a bunch of different things, ultimately recommending a new outlet. *GVC did not charge me for this visit, either.* GVC came back a fourth time, addressed the new outlet issue, and fixed the washing machine. Hooray! I really admire GVC's commitment to getting the problem resolved. Rather than expecting payment for just showing up, GVC works until the problem is fixed. Also, GVC scheduled our appointments the same day I called, which is sort of amazing, in my experience. read more

Talk about service! Our dishwasher wasn't cleaning and it appeared not to be heating so we called our "warranty" company and they set up a company who shall be nameless to repair. Let me just say without going into too much detail that after 3 service calls and 2 months nothing was fixed!. I finally got fed up one day and found GVC on yelp. The very same day I called they came out. I spoke to Gus on the phone and he sent out Victor who was very pleasant and knowledgeable. I told Gus that we were told the pump went out, so Victor had also driven to Tracy to pick up a new pump. Once he arrived, within 30 minutes he not only fixed our dishwasher, but he said our pump was not broken. I will be using this company for all of those types of repairs! read more

I was able to secure an appointment for 9 AM to 1 PM the next day. The technician arrived at 9 AM and determined that the issue was the compressor. Our refrigerator stopped working in October 2020. The manufacturer called GVC Appliance Repair to fix it. They finally got it working again after three day-long attempts over the next weeks, and we had our refrigerator back in December. In the process, the technicians broke a crisper and the housing it fits in and they have been promising me to replace it. I have attempted to get them to honor their promise on many, many occasions by calling, texting, and contacting the manufacturer and I am still without a functioning vegetable crisper. It's been four months guys! I generously gave them two stars because after much struggle I do have a sort of functioning refrigerator again, but I want them to replace the part they broke. I can't recommend this business to anyone until that happens. read more

All I can say is WOW! These guys are great... The ice maker in our freezer decided it was time to stop working so we called GVC Appliance to come take a look at it. The repair wasn't cheap (about $250) but the motor had gone out and needed to be replaced... we were told it could take up to 24 hours to start making ice so we didn't worry about until the next day, when I got home from work... still no ice! We called GVC and they showed up (NO CHARGE) to diagnose the problem and see if they could get it working, swapped out a couple parts and told us to check it in about 24 hours... the next day, still no ice! GVC called that morning to check in and came out that afternoon (again NO CHARGE) and swapped out a couple other parts... 2-3 hours later... ICE! (It turned out that not only had the motor gone out, but a sensor was bad as well) There are very few companies I've ever dealt with that would stand behind a repair like GVC did and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. GVC = excellent service! Based on Yelp reviews I called GVC when my gas stovetop stopped functioning. The reviews did not disappoint. Not only was I able to get next day service, the cost to come to house for estimate was applied to the repair. Repair costs were surprisingly reasonable and Gus, the owner, was very nice. Gus left my kitchen in the same condition as he found it...except that the stovetop is now working perfectly. Definitely keeping GVC magnet for future repair needs! The technician came out on time and was very friendly and professional. He had to take the dryer panel apart to diagnose the problem and was actually able to fix it just by pulling off a piece of metal that had gotten stuck when the timer knob broke off. Since he had fixed the problem in the time it would have taken to diagnose it he only charged the service fee and did not charge for labor. I'll definitely call GVC again if I need an appliance fixed! read more

Gus came by for a 2nd time as our dryer's burner coils had gone out-ie. no heat. He completed the repairs within 20 minutes and the dryer has been taken off of life support and is breathing on its own. Hopefully we'll get a few more years out of it. Had a problem with my Kitchenaide dual oven. Called around to a few places and Gus was easily the most helpful and professional and even spent time trying to help me diagnose the problem over the phone. Unfortunately for me, this problem was going to take a professional and Gus easily fit that description. Arrived on time to our appointment, was thoughtful about keeping the area clean as he worked, etc. In short, you can tell he understands the 'service' end of his business. I agree with all the other reviews except one thing. When I called to make the appt they said it would be a $40.00 service fee. I asked if it went towards the visit repair and they said yes. When the technician got here he tried to charge me for the 40.00 on top of the 90.00 to fix my problem. I told him about the conversation on the phone and he started making all kind of excuses why he tried to charge me the 40. I really don't like that. Also, my problem was a sub-zero ref. with a leak underneath. I had the same problem 2 yrs ago and they gave me a new drain pipe. This time it was a matter of cleaning the drain pipe and he told me how he did it. He actually used a turkey baster,water and windex. For this I was charged 90.00. That seems excessive but he did tell me it would cost that a head of time. Next time I will do it myself or have my hubby do it. read more
