We started hearing extra tumbling noises and seeing our dryer shift when running. We weren't sure if it was time to get a new dryer or to repair it, but since we repaired our dryer once by ourselves, we thought we'd searched online for the issue and try to find the parts at Home Depot for repair. When I dropped by, I was really impressed by Jim, who when I showed him a video of our dryer and the model number, he was completely familiar with our dryer model, and knew what was wrong. He also told me exactly where I can find more info for how to repair, and was super patient to explain all the details until I felt comfortable. Because we were also experiencing another issue with the dryer needing several cycles to dry (even after servicing our dryer with a dryer vent cleaner company), he also explained how to clean the lint from inside the machine. Great experience with these guys. Our microwave was possessed...it kept running even when the door was open. After much googling, we figured out one of the door switches was bad. By the time we discharged the capacitor and removed the part, we had been microwave-less for over a week! Instead of ordering a switch on-line, I was able to get one here for just a few dollars more. Well worth it! The guy at the desk was very helpful, showing me what was wrong with the part, and gave me some tips for re-installing it. He also didn't laugh too hard when I asked about the "mandatory" RF testing for loose microwaves that the internet suggested. :) I replaced the door switch, put the cover back on, and the microwave worked perfectly. As many of us during any heat wave may experience with the ac unit, looking for a part/capacitor may come up during suboptimal timing is inevitable. With some YouTube help and Gil(?), we were able to find a matching part to try. Gil was professional and patient on the phone. The same in person and also checked our old capacitor part as well to confirm which portion was out. I would 100% endorse supporting these guys. Gil patiently answered our basic questions, how the new circular model should match up compared to our original oval top capacitor. My 11-year-old washing machine began to make an extremely loud and expensive sounding noise in the spin cycle. While my husband took a look at it, I began the process of researching new washers online. I videoed the machine and he took it to Apd. The salesperson was very helpful. He watched the video and said he had the same noise in his machine. He suggested changing the belt and also told us to oil the machine well before closing it back up. We did exactly as he suggested and for $18, it is fixed. No more noise - and we've washed 4 loads in a row. The guys that work the parts counter are amazing! They helped me trouble shoot why my washing machine stopped working and helped me fix it myself, not once but twice years ago! Now my gas dryer stopped heating and they told me there was 3 possibilities what part needed to be replaced. My Kenmore Elite dryer had an issue heating ... did all the YourTube videos ...showed up at Appliance Parts thinking I needed this one part ... the folks there (think it was Gil) patiently listened to me describe the problem ... suggested that I would need an entirely different part ... exactly how to change it out.
