So after having a root canal done and a crown put in place, I continued to have pain on that tooth. Months passed by to no avail, I continued to have increasing pain. I went back to Livewell dental, they took X-rays of my tooth & The dentist said, "sometimes it takes longer to heal for some people" then shaved down the tooth. went to another Destist and they told me the root canal was done incorrectly and would need to see a specialist to correct this horrible destists work. My new dentist stated it was visible in the X-Ray done on their end that the root canal was not done correctly YET livewell dental told me after taking X-Rays post root canal it was just taking longer to heal!!! My mom and I visited Livewell Dental on 11/3/2025 we revisit back this office after a few months that she had been seen and having a awful experience and giving our feedback on the review of the unpleasant visit she had. The reason of her returned is that the same day she visited Livewell on 11/3/25 she had stoped by another dentist office and the dentist told her to go back to Livewell dental since her work was done there and had not been long ago of the time they worked on her and that they needed to fix her dental work, since it was not professionally and correctly done. We waited for them to open the office door at Livewell, after their lunch was over. We explained to Ariana what had happend, that the bridge had broken and James himself came out to the front desk to say oh that sucks.. that sucks. He said it's Karma and that he could not help her with what she had paid in the past. I was fooled by the 5-star reviews. Please know your rights as a patient and what they are charging you, because this place has a very UNETHICAL medical practice and they will try to take advantage of the unsuspecting. My experience is with Dr.Sung and Ariana. On 8/19, I had an appointment to come in for a regular dental clean, which is free and covered by my insurance. However, during my perio-chart Dr.Sung said that I had majority of pockets between 3-5mm and that I would need to have a deep clean for all 4 Quads. The front desk handed me the treatment plan. Assuming that insurance will approve and cover a portion of the deep clean, I would have to pay $540 out of pocket. I left without doing any procedures. Once I got home, I got a closer look at the "treatment plan costs" they gave me. I saw that there were 4 charges of dental code D9630 at $80 each ($320 total) that is not covered by insurance at all. Code D9630 is "drugs or medicaments dispended in office for home use"-- this to me sounds like something that I would be taking home. I decided to post this treatment plan to a website with dental professionals (general dentists, dental hygienists, dental office workers, etc) and asked if anyone knew what the charge was for, and if it was a common charge with a deep clean. Numerous dental professionals responded that this is not a common code with a deep clean and they were not sure what it was either, so I was advised to call Livewell to find out what this code was. I called their office and spoke to Ariana and was told that it was a charge to spray Peridex on my gums in each quadrant during the deep clean (gingival irrigation). I asked if I can do the deep clean without the Peridex rinse and was told that it was a required part of the deep clean and cannot be done without it. I relayed it back to the dental community, and received numerous responses stating that Livewell is trying to charge me $320 to spray Peridex when these offices sell a bottle for $10-15 for their patients to bring home. Despite Ariana telling me that the peridex spray is a required part of a deep clean, I was informed by the dental community that it is NOT a required part of a deep clean, and that I can reject the D9630 treatment. Even if it was used to spray the gums rather than water, it most often times will not be charged, and if it was, it'll be about $5/quad, not $80/quad. I was informed by the dental community that D9630 is the incorrect code for gingival irrigation, and the correct code is Code D4921. Code D9630 specifically says "dispensed for HOME USE", and that would be the correct code if they were prescribing a bottle for me to take home, not for spraying my gums. Even if this was the case where I was prescribed 1 bottle of peridex to take home, charging $80 for a bottle that costs $10-15 is a crime. On 8/23, I contacted a different dental office to get a 2nd opinion. They had me sign an X-Ray release form, which they emailed over to Livewell. On 8/25, having not received a response, my new dental office called Livewell and was told that they would be sending the X-Rays by the end of the day. On 8/30, my new dental office still have not received my X-Rays. During this time, Ariana called and left me a voicemail, stating that they could not accept the X-Ray release form from another dental office, and that in order for Livewell to release my X-Rays, I would have to sign Livewell's release form. Please know that this is a BLATANT LIE--if you sign a medical release form, whether it is at your new dentist or old dentist, it is valid either way. Livewell also wanted me to pay $30 in order for them to email my X-Rays, which is against CDA (California Dental Association) guidelines. Per CDA/HIPAA regulations, you can charge $0.25 per page for paper copies as well as REASONABLE clerical costs for those paper copies. As for electronic copy, "the fee charged MAY NOT exceed the labor and material costs of fulfilling the request, for example, the practice may charge for the cost of the flash drive. Emailing information to you should have minimal costs". Essentially, emailing would cost less to none than paper copies. I decided to keep all my correspondence with them via email in order to have a paper trail. On 8/30, I emailed them regarding the release of my X-Rays since it's been 7 days since they've received the request, citing the CDA/HIPPA (per CDA/HIPAA, they have 15 days to send the medical records). Ariana responded and mentioned she has to speak to my insurance about the release of X-Rays, which is sad to say, ANOTHER LIE. I wrote back restating my rights and asked for sources/proof regarding needing insurance approval. I never got a response, but the next day on 8/31, Livewell finally sent my X-Rays. I got a 2nd opinion and my perio charting is mostly 1-3mm and a couple 4s (no 5's at all). The new Dr. told me a deep clean was not necessary at all. Please stay away from this place. read more

Wow. I am in disbelief how this place scams patients. Don't be fooled by good reviews. Let me tell you why. 1. The dentist's white coat was very dirty. Can tell how unsanitary this place was. 2. My insurance provides one free dental cleaning per year. However, this office still charges you $80. When asked, their answer was that "different places charge different rates". I got it anyways because I was there already and didn't want to make another visit to another office. 3. Despite the wrongful charge, the cleaning was done in literally 5 minutes. I couldn't believe it. I have been to many dental offices in my life of 60+ and never seen anyone clean that fast. It should usually take you around one hour, if done properly. 4. During that short 5 minutes, the dentist stepped out leaving me with all the cleaned plaque inside my mouth. No water cup was given to clean out so I had to swallow everything. They don't have water cups to provide you for mouth wash. They are cheap. 5. The front staff came to ask for my credit card and asked me to sign while I was actively getting treatment, mouth open. Never experienced before anywhere else. Unprofessional. 6. Their facility is old and out of date. 7. Front staff is rude. 8. I also get deep cleaning free annually with my insurance but this place asked me to pay couple hundred dollars. Of course I will not get it here. 9. Extremely disappointed on the service I received. I always research and was confident based on all the good reviews I had read that this was a great dental office. However, it was the worse cleaning experience of my life. It was painful and rushed. No paste was use, no flossing no actual cleaning other than painful polishing. I wasn't even offered mouthwash afterwards. Literally walked out with so much pain, minor bleeding and a horrible after taste.
