Living with the Land at EPCOT is one of my personal favorites, and it has been since it first opened decades ago. I can't explain why I love it so much, but I do. It never gets old either, especially with the tour of the ever-changing greenhouse which is the best part of the ride by a mile. In fact, my family has lovingly called the ride "The History of Vegetables" for a long time (and it still makes us giggle). Living With the Land is educational but also fun. If you're a gardener, you're going to love it. The ride takes you through greenhouses and experimental farms, showing off innovative agricultural techniques and sustainable farming practices. You get to see everything from hydroponic vegetables and towering tomato plants to aquaponics systems where fish and plants coexist. It's fascinating to watch how Disney combines science, technology, and creativity to grow food, and it really makes you think about where your own meals come from. Supposedly restaurants throughout the park serve items that are grown in the greenhouse, but I find that claim suspect. Still, I always find myself wanting to hop out of the boat and pick one of the super red tomatoes and yummy looking organic lettuces that are growing (don't do it or you'll get banned from the park)! The set design and narration are classic Disney and the ride pace is calm, which makes it a perfect mid-day break or a way to escape the Florida heat. There's rarely a line, and I wouldn't wait more than 15 minutes for this one (just come back later if it's super popular). The ride is definitely better during the daylight hours because you can see a lot more of the greenhouse. It's lit at night, but more difficult to see all the plants that are growing. Most of our friends think we are nuts for loving this ride as much as we do, but I swear we ride it at least 3 times a day whenever we visit Disney World. read more

I love Living With The Land in Epcot. I go on it pretty much every time we're there, but I had never been on the Christmas version of it. The line is usually a lot longer for this version, but it was worth it. I was surprised just how many lights they had and how cleverly they integrated them into the displays. They were also playing Christmas music. Most of the "Christmas" version are the outdoor areas, where all the plants are growing, and the fish tank areas. The other areas are the same as they usually are year round. Really fun way to get in the holiday spirit. My family enjoyed it! I would definitely do it again next year. read more

This is one of the most popular rides in Epcot. Even within couple of hours of opening, the wait time was more than 40 minutes. I signed for fast lane for this ride, so we were able to skip the line and get to ride in about 5 minutes. It is a ride on a boat that floats through a water pathway. It goes through several sections illustrating the development of civilization from the stone age. Then it enters a wonderful space where we got to see indoor plantation of all the fruits, vegetables, flowers, and trees we all know and eat. Finally it went thru fishery station where some of the tanks actually had farm fish. Overall it was a nice smooth ride. Very friendly for kids. But as an adult it was okay for me. read more

Living with the Land is EPCOT's ultimate flex: a slow-moving boat ride through farming history that somehow became one of the park's most beloved attractions. Forget roller coasters--this is 20 minutes of crops, greenhouses, and animatronic farmers who look like they're one bad harvest away from unionizing. It's not a thrill ride, it's an agricultural hostage situation--and I love it. It starts tame, with dioramas about farming: buffalo grazing, settlers plowing, and storm effects that feel like a high school science project. But then you glide into the greenhouses, and suddenly it's Future Farming Central. Hydroponics, vertical growing, Mickey-shaped pumpkins--it's the only ride where you spend half the time thinking, "Could I just jump out of this boat and eat everything?" Forget food and wine festival--I want my fork right now. History flex: when it opened in 1982, it was EPCOT's answer to the question, "How do we make farming sexy?" Spoiler: they didn't, but they did create the world's largest greenhouse attraction at the time. Disney actually grows real produce here, and some of it gets served in EPCOT restaurants. That salad you paid $22 for? Yeah, it came from the ride you just ignored. The greenhouse is pure Disney magic: nine-pound lemons, cucumbers growing like jungle vines, fish farms that look like Nemo's nightmare. 10,000% my favorite ride in all of EPCOT. It is old school EPCOT. It has changed, any many times over the years and admittedly it's currently (2025) watered down ideation is not my favorite of all the versions I have experienced in my 33 years, it still has a very special place in my heart (bring back Mickey shaped fruit & veg) It is iconic. It is a bit dated. It so fun and unlike any other ride on property (or at any other of the parks) It is educational, unique, pleasant, air condoned, and calm. Just a note: if you are going to ride it, please don;t make fun of it the entire time - you will not be the only eprson on your boat. If you think it is hoaky, others may not (there is quote a dedicated fan base) and for the love of whatever you worship, PLEASE DO NOT JUMP OFF & GRAB FOOD OFF OF THE VINES! It's not cool. It is not safe. It is not funny. Big tip, ask to be seated in front. It does make a big difference to see it all without anyone in front of you and really will not add to your wait in any real sort of way (maybe one boat?) read more

Wow....such a beautiful greenhouses, fish tanks and plants, flowers to cruise through history of farming. Its worth every minute waiting in the line. When we were line it was fun to read all wall arts which it was great quotes...it is very unique experience and it was fun to sit back and enjoy the ride while learning interesting objects! I think it will be fun for everyone despite the age. Waiting line was long as the other games lines so no complaints! This is classic, family friendly boat tour of the history of horticulture, the greenhouse, the fish hatchery, and a glimpse of the Garden Grill. The greenhouses are in my opinion the best feature, especially during Christmas. Just expect the usually short lines to be upward of an hour during the holidays. read more

it's been forever since I have been on this ride. I have been meaning to try to go on it during the Christmas holiday season, but it never end up making it. The first half of the ride is similar to spaceship earth with the fake scenes and video descriptions of different parts of the world. The interesting part is when you get into the gardening area. They have all different types of agriculture, and plants growing. They talk about some of the plants being used as food at the restaurants on Disney property. It's good if you're trying to get out of the summer heat for some air conditioning. read more

Epcot day ride #4: It's a good ride. Half a dark ride, half a light ride, and on a boat. You begin in the dark. I forgot about that dark/inside portion this time. Then you get the better part of going to a greenhouse. You can see all sorts of things going. A narrator explains what's what, but I rarely pay much attention. I just look at pumpkins hanging on vines, flowers, and so much green. read more

This is one of our favorite rides and we go on it every time we visit. We went in June this year and so many of the crops were in bloom or fruit which was a wo derful experience. There are so many layers of details that you could do this ride o er and over and glean something new. read more

This is one of my favorite rides. My husband makes fun of me but my 7 year old agreed. Granted, he's interested in farming, gardening and food. Boat rides are so classic Disney to me and fun education is what makes Epcot so great. My friend did get a little nap in on this one but that's on her. Sure. It's not thrilling but it's wonderful. Oh and they have plan souvenirs at the end of the I got my son a cactus because they said it was the one that transported best. read more

Living With The Land - Amusement Parks Near Me - Orlando, Florida

I remember thinking this ride was boring as a kid, but as I get older, I only enjoy it more and more. Going through the different biomes in the beginning is still kind of whatever, but I now love going through the greenhouses and seeing all of the different plants and animals that Epcot is taking care of. It's especially nice when Christmas season is coming up because they put up lights and decorations everywhere. But it's also a great ride to go on in the summer when you're trying to escape the heat since the temperature is cool and regulated inside. And the wait time is never too long. read more

HOLIDAY OVERLAY BEST SEEN AT NIGHT (of course :o) One of the big holiday attractions at EPCOT is the Living with the Land ride with its holiday overlay of twinkling lights and holiday touches (aka Living with the Land Glimmering Greenhouses). Living with the land is a boat cruise ride located inside Epcot's Land Pavilion. It's on the first level and typically has a low wait time. It's one of my favorite attractions inside Epcot. Soarin is also in the same building. It's a educational ride, discovering the history of farming. You'll also learn about new techniques such as hydroponics. There are some dark areas throughout the ride. During those areas, you'll listen to the history of growing crops. Throughout the ride, you'll see some of Disney's greenhouses and learn about sustainability practices. It's a really neat ride and It's quite beneficial to ride it at least once! There are no height restrictions for this ride and it's family friendly, especially with all of the rows in a single boat. read more

During the Christmas season Living with the Land boat ride receives a holiday overlay. The overlay adds to the popularity of this ride. It is a slow boat ride that introduces you to the ecosystem and then takes you to see the greenhouses. The addition of the lights brings out the holiday flair. They have lights in the working areas as well as along the greenhouses. Riding through the tunnel adds to the effect. Yes, you will see a topiary Mickey but you have to be quick to catch him. He shows up so fast. It is very educational and they do offer guided tours of the greenhouses for an additional fee. Garden Grill restaurant sits above the attraction and some of the food they serve are grown here. The ride focuses on solar energy and conservation. Expect longer wait times for this attraction during the holiday season but since the boats hold a lot of people it isn't overly long. Living with the land is one of EPCOT's original attractions and I love how they decked it out for the holidays. Check it out if you are in the area. Enjoyed this ride much more than expected. The first part of the ride was a little more dull, walking you through the biomes, and felt a bit preachy with the videos about environment protection (which is important!) and what not. But the second part where they take you to a boat tour of the greenhouses and aquaculture was very cool, and really made you appreciate the work that goes into making these agricultural practices sustainable. Knowing that some restaurants use the produce produced in these facilities in the park was very cool and eye opening! read more

This is one of my favorite rides when I'm in one of my favorite Walt Disney World parks. I love that EPCOT has different areas of expanding one's mind through immersive areas of the land, the sea, and the universe. My family and I always make a stop in the Land to learn about the newest and tried and true methods of growing vegetables and flowers. My most recent visit was in June and our group had seven people. We eagerly walked through the line queue to wait our turn. Once we got on the boat ride it was smooth and comfortable. I love that they updated the the first portion of the ride, taking us through different forests, a desert, and an American prairie that gives me all kinds of Nebraska/Midwest vibes. Like all things Disney, the way they incorporate nature sounds, familiar scents, warm and cold temperatures, and hugs of precipitation enhances the importance of the environment and how we impact it. As we continue through the ride you move through the aquaculture area being able to see first hand how the different fish are contributing to the growth of certain vegetables. We then move into the greenhouses where we get a chance to see different fruits from around the world right there in front of us! I especially love the hidden Mickeys you can see throughout the ride. I love the vertical gardens that we get to see and the efficient innovative way to maximize space while growing the most they're able to. This ride is educational, gives you an idea of how we are impacting our environment, and ways we can grow food in a beneficial way. Living with the Land is a lovely easy ride to take a break from the hot park outside and what feels like endless standing and walking. read more

This has always been one of my favorite rides at Epcot but recently it seemed to be picking up speed. Everyone's starting to get the memo that it's relaxing, has a 90s touch to it, and just utterly charming. It's also fun to do just come here frequently or you know even if you come once a year. Because every time it's going to be different. You could see how the plants have grown or have been harvested, see some background scenes of how Epcot makes their food and their efforts in conservation and recycling. I love Living with the Land! As a teenager, I thought this ride was boring. That has totally changed over the years. Being able to grow flowers, fruit, and vegetables brings joy and accomplishment, but it also takes a lot of work. EPCOT has been using sustainable agriculture for many years now. You see it everywhere as you're walking through the park. They make it look so easy. The relaxing boat ride takes you through a rain forest as well as through a scorching desert. There's a creepy looking farm with a corn field. I say creepy, because it's twilight when passing through it. It's dim and kind of feels like a tornado could drop down at any minute. No, it's not that kind of ride. I did notice some changes to the ride, but they were very subtle. The fruits and veggies grown there can change depending on the season. However, I do remember the papaya and breadfruit trees. The hanging eggplant was new to me. It's cool to see all of these different fruit and veggie plants growing together in one giant greenhouse. What I didn't know is that their partnership with NASA has brought about innovative systems for farming in space. The vertical growing technique definitely saves space, and the hydroponic & aeroponic techniques use less water. There were many more plant varieties this time a round. Although, the fish farm wasn't as populated. I remember seeing more types of farm raised fish in the past. I did see Tilapia and Striped Bass, and more plants growing on top of the tanks. Apparently, the fish fertilize the plants, and the plants keep their water clean. Huh! What a novel idea! It's a nice educational ride for all ages. It made me realize that I need to watch the Discovery channel more than I do. I also learned that Disney World has now installed a recycled glass pulverizer that grinds down the glass to make sand. They're already using it this year at the Flower & Garden Festival grounds. How cool is that? That is one awesome thing about these theme parks. There are recycle bins everywhere. It's great that they are putting them all to great use. read more

This ride was highly endorsed by one of the waiters in Sanaa who saw that we were first time WDW guests and so she spilled all the beans on everything we should do in the parks. She said this was her favorite. After having ridden it, I realize she's one of those Green Initiative types or she's a gardener who cares about ecology because this ride fascinated her, while for me, it was a ride through fish tanks and a garden. She said that the exhibit grows some of the food they use in the restaurants which is cool and I guess is one of the reasons why she's hooked on this ride, but it's not all that if you want to be entertained. Still, this is a good time killer if you're trying to find things to do in between Lightning Lane reservations or something. read more

I'm obsessed with Living With The Land and it's probably my favorite ride at Epcot, second only to Remy's Ratatouille Adventure!! Living With The Land is iconic and just so pleasant. If you enjoy Gran Fiesta Tour in the Mexico Pavilion, you're going to love Living With The Land because it's also a boat ride and 10x longer than GFT! You get to see all these different ecosystems across the world and specific to Disney, how they grow and propagate plants, and it's just so much fun! You will probably be extremely tempted to hop off this ride and go pick a fruit or vegetable here or that because it is seemingly easy to do so and that's just how close you are to everything, but DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES DO THAT! If you get off this boat at any time during the ride, you WILL be banned from Disney for life and that is not an empty threat that they issue at the beginning of the ride only. My friend group had a whole discussion about it and it's wild how many people try to hop off and back on during this ride. Everyone remain calm and just enjoy the SIGHTS that the ride has to offer and don't get greedy with it and try to take a little souvenir or something! All in all, I absolutely love this ride! You would think it would be a perfect time to take a little nap, but it's actually so engaging that you're awake for all of it, but it is lovely since you get to be off your feet for like 15+ minutes enjoying and learning! Make sure to also be on the look out for hidden Mickeys as there are plenty throughout this ride!!!!! read more

Living With The Land is a slow moving educational ride. It is a water ride that takes you in boats that shows you the benefits of farming and being responsible. They also touch on hydroponics which is an interesting approach to growing crops. The ride takes you through dark areas that explain the growing of crops and what the crops are used for. It also takes you through a greenhouse area where they are actively growing crops in the different types of approach. It's a nice cool ride that allows for you to take a rest in the midst of the hurry in the park. I feel bad that some people see this as too educational. I am by no means a farmer, nor will I ever be, but it was nice to have an understanding of what I can do if I have to. This ride sits off of a dining area and melds well with the surroundings. Not the fastest or most exciting ride in Epcot, but definitely worth a look if you want to get off your feet as the wait is minimal. read more

"Let's listen to the land that we all love, nature's plan will shine above!" Living With The Land - one of my favorite attractions in WDW, in my favorite pavilion, in my favorite park. You can imagine when I'm on this ride, I'm totally in my Disney zen. The reason why I love this attraction so much is that for me, it's peak Epcot - providing entertainment and education (yes - edutainment!). Living With The Land is a boat ride which teaches the importance of respecting the Earth while also talking about sustainable farming. While not technically original to the park, there's been a greenhouse tour boat ride here as long as Epcot has been open. The original incarnation, called Listen to the Land, had a similar concept and concluded with an original song. The biggest component of the ride is a tour of Epcot's greenhouses where a number of plants are grown. While you're floating along you learn about the innovative methods Disney is using to grow crops, and current projects that are in development; many of the plants grown here are used in restaurants throughout WDW. Living With The Land has never been a headliner attraction, but it has always had a cult following. Being someone who's science-minded and loves Epcot, I've always been a part of that niche group. If you're looking to enhance your experience, I recommend taking the Behind the Seeds Tour, which gives an even more in-depth look at the greenhouses. Regardless, if you're looking for one of the most Epcoty attractions in Epcot, this is it. read more

How can something so slow moving be so good? This ride is the epitome of calming - I look forward to riding it every trip. I love how the ride blends classic Disney sets with real-life greenhouses for a lovely 15min-ish slow boat ride to help relax those feet! The ride drives home the importance of sustainable, conscientious farming practices and how we have to live with the land, not pillage it as we may have in the past. Lots of fun facts about how some of the food grown in the greenhouses of the ride (and beyond on property) are used in the restaurants we all eat at while on our visit to WDW. Disney sure knows how to make education fun! Lines are usually short and move rather quick given that the boats can hold quite a few people at a time. Epcot (Orlando) FUTURE WORLD WEST We had an afternoon FastPass+ for this 20-min slow-moving boat ride. I don't know, but I thought it would be boring but there was a crowd ahead. Looks like Living with the Land can still pack them in during peak times. I'm glad we got a FastPass+ for this ride attraction. Came here after Soarin'. At the start of the ride there is a film scene that precedes the greenhouse section. The boat ride took us through farm environment and swamps and the greenhouse where real crops are grown using the latest agricultural technologies that are being explored. The fruits and vegetables supply the DisneyWorld kitchen restaurants that cater to the public. Crops such as eggplants, tomatoes, bananas, corn, rice, squash, hot peppers, broccoli, cotton, quinoa, and more-exotic foods such as Malabar nuts, pandan, caimito, and amaranth. I realize that there are a lot of attractions to see in Epcot and this may not be the most exciting ride but it is interesting and not to be missed in my book. Take a seat and relax in a gentle and educational boat ride. It is a dark ride and greenhouse/agriculture tour. No thrills here but still worth a ride, as there is a ton to see. Living with the Land is a perfect Epcot ride - educational and entertaining. I suggest running to the Land Pavilion first at rope drop. Living with the Land is housed within the Land Pavilion. The other super popular ride, is Soarin' and also housed within the Land Pavilion. My best bang for your buck tip is to ride Soarin' first and then hop on Living with the Land. Disney does a ton to show you what they are doing to be sustainable within the parks - I was really impressed. Mix of animatronic and real-life examples to show and teach guests. There is a lot for the eyes and brain to take in but presented at a level that is friendly to all ages. The ride is also decently long and got us out of the hot sun. The ride held my interest as there is a lot to see and different transitions/themes. Get a behind the "seeds" tour with an upgrade and reserve your spot to explore and get up-close and personal to what Disney is growing. However, unless you are really into growing/farming/agriculture then that extra $29.00 may not be worth it. Tip - Do not waste a Fast Pass on this ride, there are a lot of boats and the line moved fast. read more

I mean, it must be crazy amount of ingredients that they have to have handy to serve hundreds of thousands of people each and every day. For the ones who do wonder about this kind of stuff (like me), they actually show you and teach you all about it! This attraction is a slow boat ride that goes past their huge greenhouses and fish farm, showing us just how Disney World horticulturalists are innovating growing technique to help feed this planet. That's right, they do more than just serve the restaurants within their theme parks! It was cool to see the "integrated Aquaculture" where fishes and plants help each other grow in a healthy way by providing each other nutrients through water. I'm glad Epcot promotes positive environment responsibility with this ride. There's been significant additions and improvements to environmental safekeeping since the creation of this ride, however, and its time to update the ride to fit the times. Disney makes ridiculous amounts of money, so updating these rides should be a regular thing yet it goes so long between creation and updates that at some point this ride may become irrelevant. read more
