I needed a bang fix (don't ask!) and a trim. Most places will take appointments only and it's also a Saturday. This place is by appointment only, but I called to ask if they will take walk-ins. You never know if you don't ask right?? A gentleman answered the phone and said they don't normally take walk-ins but since they are slow, I can come in today depending on the service I wanted. I said haircut and he said that's fine. So excited to get my hair fixed and trimmed, I hopped in my car and drove there. This place is easily missed! It's in the middle of car body shops/car lots. The parking area is a little narrow and slightly steep. Be careful pulling in. I walked in and was greeted by a friendly gentleman. He said he'll shampoo my hair first. Nice guy. Keeps the conversation going. Afterwards, a lady came out and started brushing my hair. She asked if I had a picture to show her. I showed her a picture I found on the internet. Really, I just wanted to fix my bangs and trim my roots. She suggested about 3 inches for a healthier root look and I agreed. She didn't tell me her name or asked for mine. She talked about current events and shared some personal stories. Once it came to the blow drying, the "shampoo guy" came out again and helped her blow dry my hair. I asked if they were married and she said yes. They're both so sweet and cute! My shampoo, cut and blow dry/style was $50. It is a little pricier than most places. I came here because I was looking for a cheap haircut but haven't had good experiences with TGF or Supercuts. I paid $54 for long hair shampoo, cut and style including 20% tip. The haircut was quick and I am very happy with it. The location is in a not great area off Richmond. It has a small private parking lot and the inside is incredibly modern and cozy. I waited for about 10 minutes after my appointment time but compared to other places that is great. My only complaint is that the parking lot was full when I arrived although I'm sure that's not always the case as this was a Sunday afternoon. Update: So sad that I have to update this review and say that I will be looking for a new hairdresser. I came in and asked for a natural look that matched my root color. She gave me two options of darker blondes and I chose the medium blonde that she claimed would match my root color. As soon as it was washed I could see that it was strawberry blonde.. so instead of going darker it was several shades lighter. My hair now requires the maintenance I did not want. When Candie could tell I HATED it she tried to justify it by saying that I asked for this color... for five minutes. Didn't even bother offering to fix this mess. read more

I go in either telling her exactly what I want or by showing her a picture and she will deliver every time. I was very impressed with LN Hair Tech. I arrived a bit early for my appointment (about 15 mins) and they got me started almost immediately. They were so fast! I got my hair washed, cut, and blow dried all in less than an hour! The shop is very small and cozy and their dogs wander in and out - which I liked. Daniel and Candie are both very nice and friendly. Daniel is more talkative than Candie, but they are both kind and Candie gave me a very good haircut! When they were blow drying my hair, they both dried it at once - I had never had 2 people drying my hair at the same time. It was kind of cool and definitely more efficient. I've been wanting to get a haircut for months and I finally mustered up the courage to chop off most of my hair. I'm glad I chose LN Hair Tech! I walked in without making an appointment and only had to wait about 5-10 minutes before Candie saw me. I brought a few photos of celebrity haircuts that I liked and Candie chose one for me. It took her about 25 minutes total to recreate a great look on me! While she worked quickly, she was very meticulous and focused on getting everything perfect. The haircut cost me $30 (before tip) because I didn't have my hair washed or styled, which is cheaper than any other haircut I've had at a salon. I've gone to Ms. Lan (Candie) consistently in the past. She's not the most personable person, but she gets the job done. Now she has her husband that helps her, so sometimes you might have both of them blowdrying your hair at the same time! I don't think she straightens your hair unless you request it. I usually do walk-ins after work, and most of the time she's available to cut my hair right away. She's very quick with her cuts, but if you are her only customer in there, she will take more time on your hair. I haven't gone to her in about a year now. The last time she charged me $25, and my hair was about shoulder length. It seems like every time I would come in there, the price would go up a few dollars. So I don't know if it's just the economy that makes her keep jacking up the price or she's just charging whatever she feels like. I'll admit, I'm a cheapo when it comes to hair cutting just b/c most of the time I just want to trim the ends and my bangs, so I don't want to pay big bucks for it. Granted this place is pretty darn cheap compared to Toni and Guy and such, but usually with Asian places, it's cheaper than $25. So I'm on another mission to find another stylist but I know I can fall back to here if I can't find another. Not sure if they have moved to their new location but it would only be like a block or two down from this address. read more

Either the price was too high (though I love the stylist and the results) or it was priced right but underwhelming results. After putting off a haircut for several months, I was in desperate need. In fact, my mom and my sister also love to get their hair done here, and for three very picky, very different women, that's saying something. The place is run by Candie and her husband who are always really nice and welcoming. Sometimes Candie's husband will shampoo my hair, and then Candie will take over and begin to cut and style my hair. Overall, the process is quick and sweet. They are efficient with their time and you get the best results for the best price possible. I've been to salons that charge way more for the results I get here at LN, and the service isn't even as nice. I've been going to Candie since 2009, and I haven't trusted any other hair stylist since. Even after moving away to Austin for college, I refuse to get my hair cut anywhere else. I like that I can bring in a photo of a hair style and she'll emulate what I want to frame my face. Even after 6 months-1 year of not having a hair cut, my hair still keeps its shape when growing out. The salon is really cute, clean and quaint. So I went back to LN Hair Tech last week to get my hair cut before going on vacation and unfortunately this cut was not as good as my other haircut in the previous review. When I arrived it started raining and the owner man came out with an umbrella to help me which was nice. I told them that I only wanted a cut (not a wash like last time). I told the lady I wanted a gentle V shape in the back with the left front side stopping at my cheek and my right front side stopping at my chin. This is what I usually get so I know it works for me. I also told her I only wanted an inch or 2 off (though I understand with a V the sides will have a bit more). Unfortunately, I don't think the woman who cut my hair understood 100%. My hair is about 3-4 inches shorter at the longest part. The sections near my bangs are choppy, messy, and the ends look frazzled as if I cut my own hair with a knife but the worst part is that my left and right side of my hair are now uneven. My left side naturally has a slight wave while the right is stick straight. The lady pulled the sections taunt to cut my hair and now my right side is obviously at least an inch if not more longer. I feel so self conscious about my hair now that I'm going today to another place to get my hair fixed. I really wanted to like this place since it's a small business and nice people. However, the lady needs to get a little more training on how to properly cut hair. read more

This is more of a 2.5 star review. I've gone to get a haircut from Candie three times. I was not impressed with any of them. The last hair cut is what made me decided to not go back again. Look, I am really not picky with hair cuts but last time I asked her to trim my side bang using her professional judgment and now it just looks like little chunks of hair on the side. For the record, I have long, thick straight Asian hair. She's charged me $25 twice and $35 once. Not very consistent. I know I said I just wanted a cut and not a fancy styling at the end, but it's a little rude after the hair cut that the hair dresser doesn't even at least comb your hair out from your face and help you find where to part the hair. I'm always struggling to comb my hair out from my face with my hand, while covered in hair and looking for my wallet in the same time. Candie is not very talkative. I really tried to talk to her because I like to get to know people. Frankly, 20% of a hair dresser's job is chatting with people. So service can be better, and cuts needs work. Ugh, need to look for another place for haircuts. read more
