It's the kind of place that makes you proud to be an American. You walk in and immediately smell victory--crispy, golden, deep-fried victory. Now listen, I've had a LOT of chicken in my life. Some of the best. Some say I even had a secret McNugget button in the White House--totally true. But Lo-Lo's? Next level. We're talking perfectly seasoned, fried to crispy perfection, and the waffles? Oh, the waffles. Fluffier than a CNN apology and sweeter than Melania on Valentine's Day. Incredible combination. It's like yin and yang but with butter and syrup. I ordered the "Tre Tre's" special--three pieces of chicken, one massive waffle, enough syrup to flip Arizona red again. Beautiful. And the sides? Mac & cheese, greens, cornbread--so good it should be illegal, but don't worry, it's not. Very legal. Very delicious. The vibe inside? Cool, relaxed, a little soul, a lot of flavor. Great music. Great people. I shook a few hands, signed some autographs--tremendous support. And let's not forget the Kool-Aid of the Day. That's right, folks--Kool-Aid. They're not playing around. Our first stop for dinner anytime we visit AZ for a few days to find sun. Why you ask? We Live in Portland, OR. Oh, you're asking why Lo Lo's? Isn't it obvious? Did you check out my pictures below? Can't you smell the fried chicken through the picture? Ok, I guess not. The why is because I'm a connoisseur of southern food. Especially fried chicken, collard greens, Mac-n-cheese and cornbread. The fried chicken is hot, crunchy and has a great blend of spices. The chicken is moist and perfectly cooked. The Mac-n-cheese is cheesy and gooey. The collard greens are fresh and have a great spicy bite yet super fresh. And the cornbread is amazing, hot, moist and butter oozing over the top. The service tonight was mixed. It took forever for someone to realize we had been seated and were waiting to be served. However, once our waitress did show up she kindly tried to make up for the wait. She was a bit sassy but funny, which worked for me. You don't even have to ask if I will be back. I just wish we had a LoLo's in Portland! Hint hint! read more

We were wrapping up our trip and knew we had to have a meal with chicken & waffles. When looking on Yelp I found Lo-Lo's as one of the most and highly rated spots so I knew I had to check it out. I would say come early because it gets PACKED for brunch. We luckily beat the rush and got a parking spot but the lot gets full. I had to get the lolos and I loved the large waffle with a full heap of butter. The waffle was flavored well and paired with the crispiness of the chicken. The chicken was juicy and dip that in the syrup and yum! I thought the portions and price were appropriate. I don't think we got the full experience as they were understaffed so service was slow and did the best they could with the rush. This plays was SO GOOD. You can tell its good when its full. The seating time was normal; not super long but not quick either. My sister got an alcoholic drink and with a waffle and 2 pieces of chicken while i got chicken wings with a side of fries. They give you water too before you get your drinks. I ordered chicken and waffles and also chicken and fish with cornbread, green beans and okra. The okra could've been cooked longer to be more crispy and the waffle wasn't my favorite, but everything else was great! Usually one of my favorite spots but was disappointed in the service. Waited 30 min to be sat and another 20 to be helped. Then waited another 40 min for my food. If they ever offer to sit you in the back room dont do it! It was 82 degrees and was sweating trying to eat my food. I have frequented LoLo's since the days of the litte yellow house and today was a standout day. From the moment we arrived, we recieved prompt, outstanding customer services. Our server(s) Sir and T.J. were professional, hospitable, and made sure we were satisfied with what we received (and they checked on us often). The food! Every item we ordered came just as we requested (catfish, chicken and okra - fried hard (crispy). The waffles had a light crisp on the outside, but were soft and fluffy on the inside. The grits, the beans and rice, the greens - everything was perfect! The music was oud enough to make you sing along, but not overwhelming for conversation. Very impressive LoLo's! Today my husband and went to this restaurant to celebrate his 74th Birthday at lunch time. The chicken, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, fried okra, cornbread was outstanding and cooked just right. We had the sweet ice tea, and the cherry Kool-Aid. Our server was very nice. They had a wing special on the day we went so we ordered a few dozen for the table and some sides as well. The deviled eggs were delicious, along with the collard greens, waffles (so soft and fluffy), and mac and cheese (it was ok). The server recommended a cocktail (Hennessy and grape koolaid) that packed a punch. This is a very nice Southern food restaurant located just outside the heart of downtown Phoenix. There is a bunch of construction happening on the road in front of it so it is kind of difficult to get to, but they are still open. They have an adequate sized private parking lot available and a decent sized dining area with televisions placed around. There is also a patio area located on the side of the restaurant, just off the parking lot. The restaurant serves your Southern favorites headlined by fried chicken and/or waffles, and Kool-Aid. They also have fried catfish, gizzards and all the traditional Souther sides such as grits, red beans, okra, squash, collard greens, dirty rice, spinach, potatoes salad and string beans. I ordered the Soul food Platter, with 3 pieces of fried chicken, collard greens and baked beans. It took about 15 minutes for them to prepare my meal. It was fresh hot and delicious. It all was very good. The chicken was flavorful and well seasoned. The baked beans and collards were tasty and had a little kick, like I like them. My server was very friendly and helpful. I really liked her. This place also serves adult beverages featuring a few select signature cocktails. I do not think they have a bar tender and the drinks are made by the servers. Atleast mine was. the drink was ok, but definitely not my favorite. This is a very nice place to get your Southern food fix. The only thing I could complain about is how long it took for my food to get to the table...but the taste was definitely worth it. They Have Kool Aid!!! Lo-Lo Chicken & waffles was our first stop when we landed in Phoenix Arizona. We visited Lo-Lo's twice while we were in Phoenix visiting from North Carolina. The first visit we had KK or K as our waitress she was Awesome! She recommended the Waffle which was very good. I also got a chicken sandwich with fries ( lots of carbs I know but, we were on vacation) All the food came out in a timely manner and everything tasted amazing. KK also recommended we try Brunch & Sip restaurant as well. Our second time eating here was day of our flight home. This time we had Jelly as our waitress and she was Awesome as well. This time I ordered the Mac & Cheese dish which was really tasty. My wife ordered Chicken and Waffles which she loved. She also ordered the Kool Aid. The kool Aid was good, you may want to split it with someone. The Ambiance and Atmosphere hear is great a good mix of everyone. I love Lo-Lo's for the atmosphere, the menu selection, and the drinks! I have been to this location a few times and can say food is average and so is the service. All though I do enjoy the waffles it is more for non ethnic people to get the taste of soul food and I'm all for that.
