I have to admit I was skeptical considering there are some very good taco choices in the area...but I am very glad to report that this place is a contender. Greeted as soon as you walk in, this place has a chill vibe. We sat at the bar and the awesome bartender gave us a rundown on the menu and drink specials. I had the guavalajara(non spicy) and it was well balanced, not too strong. Once we saw the market guac come out, we knew we were starting with it. We were initially skeptical on guac served in acorn squash but the combo worked surprisingly well! It was also a very nice portion and they came out with more tostadas when we ran out (no charge for extra, thankfully!) Now for tacos... the shrimp with coconut was not what I expected. I thought it was going to be a coconut crusted shrimp and I wish it was because this didn't do it for me. The crispy chicken was ok but the cabbage slaw on top was ehh. The fish taco though..... this was a home run! The batter on the fish was easily the best flavor I've had. Fish was cooked perfectly as well. Kim had the carnitas, chicken and carne asada.... they all were extremely wet, causing the shell to break down, however, she liked the flavors. Would be happy to return here!

I had been wanting to try No Mames, and I finally had the chance recently...absolutely did not disappoint! From the moment we walked in, the service was incredible. Our waiter guided us toward dishes we'd enjoy and we loved every single bite. The vibe of the space is beautiful, and the food... wow. I've been dreaming about it ever since we left. Truly a must-visit spot!

This was our second time coming here. Our first visit was a disaster but that was several months ago so we wanted to give them one more shot. So glad we came back. It is clear that management has stepped up and things are running much more smoothly. Our cocktails were mediocre at best during our first visit. This time they were excellent. My only regret is we didn't have time to have another one! I enjoyed the "It takes two to mango" - I asked for it spicy and it was incredible. We shared the queso fundido and elote. Then we tried some tacos. Everything was excellent. I forgot to take more pics because I was too busy enjoying our food. Also, we had our daughter with us and ordered her a cheese quesadilla kids meal. It came out as a bento box style meal with rice, beans, guacamole, chips and of course the quesadilla. I really appreciated the extra effort and thought they put into a kids meal. Usually kids meals are just thrown on the menu to appease parents but there's nothing special about them. My daughter loved her food and I think the presentation is what motivated her to eat more and try new things. Not for anything, I would even consider ordering a kids meal next time lol. Our server was attentive and you really can't beat the ambiance and decor. The restaurant is gorgeous and comfortable. I really appreciated seeing a manager walking around and checking in with patrons and also helping the servers. So overall I am so glad we didn't let our first visit deter us from returning. I think they were experiencing some growing pains at the time and now they have found their groove.

My wife and I arrived on Monday at lunch time to find the restaurant completely devoid of customers. The exterior may be mundane, but the interior is amazing. We were warmly greeted by Phil, the manager, on entering and offered a few options for seating. We chose a booth near the bar where Nico, bartender/server extraordinaire, provided us with excellent service throughout. We were seeking a light lunch so tacos were ordered, 2 pastors for her and a pastor and a chorizo for her companion. These "street" tacos proved to be delicious, but would have benefited from being wrapped in a second tortilla as the single tortilla on 2 of the pastor tacos started to shred after a few bites. Overall we were very happy with our meals. A return visit for dinner is in the cards - literally. This restaurant is part of the highly acclaimed Doro Group which is currently offering at any of its several restaurants a free $20 gift card to anyone who in-person purchases a $100 gift card prior to year end. Note: these are valid from January 1- March 31, 2026. We took advantage of this offer before departing.

I've been wanting to go eat at this restaurant and I am so glad I was finally able to stop in. Everything was amazing! Perfectly flavored, no item that we had was dry. My favorite was the gringo Gordita crunch, had an abundance of cheese and flavor. And if you're going to get an appetizer I highly recommend the taquitos, comes with 3 decent sized taquitos and the were so juicy. Staff were welcoming from entering the restaurant and leaving. There's plenty of space to seat, whether that be at a table, booth or around the bar, I will definitely be back.

Interesting name for a MX restaurant We had a good time and enjoyed the food , the service and the ambiance. The place is very well done and has a swanky impressive vibe. The red Sangria was very good. We had a number of different tacos, street corn , guac and the pollo asado. Our server was fantastic and fun Glad we stopped in. Try it , you will enjoy !

"Oh, it ain't no way I tell you that it ain't no way It ain't no way for me to love you If you won't let me" (Aretha Franklin) What on earth does No Mames mean? I had no idea, but the old Google machine just told me it's a Mexican Spanish expression that translates to "no way" or "you're kidding me." OK, not sure how that connects to the name of another Doro Restaurant Group's locations, but we just had a very nice lunch there. Doro has become quite a juggernaut in the Hartford Metropolitan area, with highly regarded eateries including Treva, Àvert, Artisanal Burger Company, Doro Marketplace, Zohara, Casadoro, and now No Mames. No Mames is a Mexican restaurant, but you won't find a lot of the familiar things on their menu that you might be used to seeing in your usual Mexican restaurant. For example -there are no enchiladas, fajitas, or quesadillas. What you will find is a deep menu of authentic Mexican dishes. The three-column menu is organized into a theme- cold appetizers and salads on the left, hot appetizers and tacos in the center, and main courses on the right. We started off with something from the left side under the Antojos (Little Cravings) section. They offered three guacamole choices, and we split a Guacamole Tradicional ($13) served with Housemade Totopos (chips), tortillas, and Crudité (Mexican carrot, jicama, and rainbow radish. There was plenty of guacamole in the serving, so we both had plenty to enjoy with the crunchy vegetables and chips. We both ordered a salad. My wife chose a Shaved Broccoli Salad ($11) with Fennel, Celery, Pistachio, and Goat Cheese. She chose an Orange Vinaigrette for her dressing. I went with a Chopped Salad ($11) with Avocado, Radish, Jicama, and Corn. I added 8 Grilled Shrimp for a $9 add on and went with their Jalapeno Crema dressing. Both salads were large, and we each took home half. The added shrimps were excellent and grilled just right -not overcooked or tough. And I gotta tell ya, if you like spicy, that Jalapeno Crema delivers a wicked slow burn. Another thing I gotta tell ya about was our server, Zoe. She was one of the best we've encountered in months. She was engaging, friendly, helpful, charming, and downright terrific. She gave us some great insight into the menu, refilled our waters automatically, and packed up some extra dressings for our left-over salads. We had a very enjoyable lunch, and the combination of décor, service, food, and value made No Mames a five-star experience for us. PRO TIPS #1 - You'll find it in a big shopping plaza in the space previously occupied by a Pasta Vita. There is tons of parking. #2 - They have a Happy Hour from Mon-Fri / 3pm-6pm with reduced process on food and drink. #3 - The hot rumor is a new Doro Marketplace is coming to Avon, CT.

I've been wanting to try No Mames since they opened and tonight, after stopping at Marshall's, I finally did just that! My daughter and I came in before the dinner rush. We sampled a few menu items like the chicken taquitos, ceviche, beef tongue taco, beef kids tacos plate and the spiced pot de crème dessert with vanilla churros. Everything was truly amazing and we're so glad we got our taco fix this fine Tuesday. Will be back since we were seated next to the open kitchen and happily watched delicious dinners coming out. Thank you No Mames!

Spicy pot de cream with churros. I wish I was having this right now!!

My husband and I came here for my birthday, continuing our tradition of trying a new Doro Group restaurant (Casadoro last birthday). The service was some of the best we've had in a long time--our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely fun, and the manager was very visible. The food was amazing--easily some of the best tacos we've ever had (and we've had a lot!). The market guacamole and spiced pot de crème were standouts and worth coming back for alone. Drinks were some of the best too! Highly recommend--hope this place is around for a long time!

Fresh and full of flavor! And Phil the manager was so much fun! I went to No Mames in Wethersfield with a couple coworkers for lunch. This New Mexican cantina was everything we wanted and more. The margaritas were on point, the tacos were delicious and the vibes were just right. The ambiance was also great. Very trendy and the lanterns that were hanging from the ceiling were so beautiful! My favorite appetizers were the acorn squash guacamole, and the plantains. I also tried the fish taco and the carne asada taco with the chimichurri. Both were delicious. Dessert was also amazing. Being a part of the Doro company I didn't expect anything less. We had the warm churros with a chocolate mousse and whipped cream and a white chocolate dessert that looked like a piece of elote corn. It was created so beautifully, I didn't want to eat it! But I'm glad I did because it was phenomenal. What a great experience, I'll definitely be back!

My first time at no mames was amazing! We got the El Festin with steak for 3 people. The board that came out was just beautiful. While pricey, it's definitely worth the money. The steak here is so good, I'll be back for it! Our server Michael was great, very helpful and energetic. so was Phill! This restaurant has a great feel to it and I think it's largely due to the staff.

Fine dining Mexican, needs some polish for the price Saw this place come up on my feeds, so I decided to make the trek to give them a shot. We came in randomly for a lunch and were able to be seated right away. We were seated dead center in the restaurant, with a large bench seat to or left and the kitchen to our right. Decor was very clean and modern, staff were very friendly, and they were able to accommodate special requests easily, We got a lot of items, tacos, aguachile, what was described as a tortilla pizza, and their salsa trio. Food came out quickly and paced well. First was the salsa trio. That was interesting in terms of preparation. It's not what one would normally associate with salsa, but they were varied and tasty. I usually expect salsa verde to be spicier, but it was fresh, acidic, grassy, but balanced. The macha was very oily, but the sesame and smoky ancho pushed through. The Roja had a bit of the tomato paste mouthfeel, and kind of muted the spices. The trio was good, the display of "chips in the drier rack" was neat and very artistic but not very functional. The Elote was next. The spicy aoli and cojita cheese combined with fresh charred corn was a nice little bite. I like it as a rendition of Elote, but it's not what one would consider "authentic". It's tasty, I like the spice mix on the corn, but it's very much a fancified American version. The Huitlacoche was a random pickup and it was surprisingly good. Cheesy, truffly, crispy and just plain good. I really enjoyed that one. Next was the aguachile and tacos. Those were not as successful. The aguachile was presented beautifully, everything is fresh and the individual elements except the tuna and the jalepeno was flavorful. The tuna was unable to stand up to the strong flavors of the sauce and even the other elements. It was literally a textual part with no tuna flavor beyond a light fishy aftertaste. That and the jalepeno was very fresh and very spicy, which obliterated the pallet when we got a piece. The tacos were good but imbalanced. The meats were a little overcooked and dressed heavily in oil. This lead to very drippy bites of greasy pork and steak. We made the manager aware of our issues with the aguachile and tacos which were removed from our bill. The customer service was top notch and our input felt impactful. We opted to get the churros and a crab tostada to replace. The crab tostada was creamy, crispy, and laden with crab. The pot de crème and churros were sweet, chocolaty, with a healthy amount of cinnamon sugar coating on the warm vanilla bean churros. Those bites were very solid. Pricing was high for the portion, but the bites were did have and paid for were pretty good. Nothing beyond the Mexican pizza really wowed me, and the flavors advertised were present in each dish but lacked polish to make them shine. This place seems to have two potential identities - a fine dining American Mexican restaurant or a fancy bar with classes up bar bites. I don't equate this out to a bar-focused establishment just yet, because it tries to do very good food while a bar doesn't usually focus on the food so much. If it is fine dining Mexican, it makes more sense but needs to refine its standards to meet that level of expectation. Right now it's skirting that line, and it's well executed food for a bar but as a restaurant it's higher price point makes it not as good of a value as other restaurants of that cuisine. The prices and portions are suitable for someone getting a cocktail after some white collar office work, but not suitable for a family of four picking up dinner nor a unique enough experience to entice the adventurous or the connoisseur to make a trek to try. It is good food, hence the 4 rating. But it's also not quite there as a foodie destination. It's a fine place for some upscale bites with the appropriate price point, but there's still some work to do on its execution.

Decided to stop by No Mames Mexican cantina after hearing it's a popular spot for Mexican food ! I heard so many great things about the new restaurant and super excited to try it out ! And we were already in the area so why not ! It was absolutely packed on a Saturday evening so make sure you have reservations because you may not be able to get table ! Thankfully we were able to secure a spot a the bar after a few minutes! ( the host were amazing doing everything they could to help us get a table even though we didn't have a reservation and being fully booked ) ! The service was phenomenal I can't say enough about the staff ! Once we sat down at the bar to get our drinks. The bartenders quickly checked on us and took our order. I ordered the red sangria which was good . And the margarita which was okay as well ( small portions not very strong) . Next we ordered the Barbacoa and chicken tacos which came pretty quickly which was great! Each order came with three small tacos and a small portion of black beans on the side. However the barbacoa tacos were very soggy which we didn't enjoy . And the chicken tacos were on the dry side and personally felt like it lacked flavour . The portion sizes were small for the price. We didn't get the pineapple guacamole but i heard that's a must try if you go ! I will try to come back and maybe on a day not so busy and try some other popular dishes and hopefully have a better experience!

Our waitress was absolutely amazing. She was kind, attentive, and whenever something was forgotten, she immediately went to speak with the kitchen and tried to make it right.
