My fave coffee shop rn :) I love popping in to work on my laptop and sip an iced Americano. It's a great environment for working, reading, or chatting- but note that they ask people not to settle in with their laptops on the weekends because they're v busy! For drinks, I'm a big fan of the coven cold brew, and you can't go wrong with any of their seasonal lattes. The vegan treats are pretty good, but their homemade bagels are my fave (omg, so flavorful, soft and perfect when toasted)! I suuuper appreciate that they have "for here" cups, plates & utensils to avoid waste (plus, sipping from a mug or a glass is so much nicer). Their rewards program is generous. What a cool and interesting place! A vegan friend of mine had recommended Loaves & Witches, and I finally was in the city with my daughter so we tried it out! We went there on a summer weekday morning. The place was bustling, but we were able to find a table outside. I was so impressed with all of their amazing vegan options, but finally decided on the sesame bagel with vegan cream cheese, and the spinach & cheese Danish. The bagel was literally the best bagel I've ever had, close to one I had in New York City. The Danish was buttery and delicious; I've never tasted anything like it. I feel like you can't go wrong with a latte with oat milk, and this one was sure to please! The staff were all hard-working and friendly. The ambience is quite unique and I appreciate the diversity of customers here. The bathrooms are gender neutral, which is an outstanding choice! If you love coffee, delicious pastries and all things witchcraft- this is your place. I was blown away by who wonderfully the place was decorated and how I was welcomed into the store. The cashier was so friendly and made me feel at home. There is a big display case filled with delicious and unique sweet treats. I love how they play on words for their coffee and treats. Every neighborhood should have a great coffee shop, and this is the kind of place that could easily become a daily addiction! The interior is super cute, and you'll see folks equally at home chatting away or flying solo. The staff was very friendly and welcoming as well. The shop offered super interesting flavors of coffee, and I really appreciated that they had a sugar free syrup option as well! I ordered the almond milk latte with sugar free vanilla syrup, the chocolate chip cookie, and the raspberry almond scone. The latte was super smooth and flavorful, and the cookie may have been one of my favorites in the city. It was topped with sea salt and loaded with chocolate chips, but somehow not too sweet. The scone was also buttery and light, with just a hint of sugar from the glaze and raspberry. I could easily have eaten another one! They have my beloved oat milk for coffee and OMG the blueberry muffins are so good! This place is hopping and for good reason. Coffee is great! Seating is comfortable on my bony butt. Here's a life lesson for all of us. This is what great nongender bathrooms look like. Sparkling clean and well equipped for everybody. The front one has urinals, the other is just stalls. If it's in use and you're not comfortable sharing with someone at the same time, just wait outside. How hard is that? Answer: It's not hard at all. Such a cool mix of young and old, quiet and bold. Brooms on the walls for transportation. Floating candles really got me going. I'm not over here often but I hope to go back soon to support L&W. This is how you do it right! Very cute coffee spot with great vibe and service. Execellet bakery choices - one of the best in the town. I came in a Saturday afternoon. The shop definitely reflects the "loaves and witches" vibe with very cute decor. Chairs, furnitures, menu fonts, all fits the atmosphere. I'm especially impressed by their bakery selections - so good! I think it's one of the best bakery selections of a coffee shop in the town (I've been to MANY). I tried their LEMON COOKIE - warm, soft baked, flavorful without being overly sweet. I liked it very much. Also tried their lavander score. If you have a slice of "Hex Your Ex" coffeecake, but don't have an ex, what happens? (haha, just kidding) As one might expect, Loaves & Witches is so delightfully witchy! It's not a haunted house inside, but the theme is very evident, from the decor to the names of products and even the snake candles. At the same time, it isn't overdone, and L&W is a comfortable space to spend some quality time with friends. Bonus points for plates and flatware conducive to such. The coffee cake itself was high quality and seemed to be made in-house. It is a little on the expensive side, but the price reflects the taste and the fact that it isn't mass-produced. The coffee, meanwhile, was strong and tasty! Finally, when it comes to the service, it was friendly, and while uncomplicated, everything was ready quick! I had the espresso tonic (in btw some of the cutest coffee cups i've ever seen) a 3/5. the tonic was not as fizzy as i would want it to be but i'm not eating the coffee shop based off of their tonic, that's not their fault. only reason i'm going with a 4/5 star review is because i wasn't able to try any of their food items. I've been eyeing this place since they opened a little while ago and finally stopped in to wfh the other day. It was a little busy, but I was able to find a table to work and they did a great job getting customers orders placed and out. I liked how they really leaned into the witch theme and how many menu options they had to offer. I'm not a big coffee girlie, but the staff did a great job suggesting something flavorful. Delicious, creamy vanilla latte. The decor and vibe here are so unique and relaxing. This is one of those cafes that I give thanks for because it has character. I drove down from Skokie to meet an old friend here. It was a Monday afternoon, it was full of students studying and other folks working at large tables in the spacious center of the space. Despite how busy they were, the cashier was extremely friendly, smiled the entire time, and answered any and all questions from every customer (and apparently everyone had plenty of questions that day haha). The ambiance and decor sets the mood right as you walk in. The tables had candles and their holders were adorned with metal snakes witch (haha) was great to see. It's a very welcoming atmosphere. There were people working on laptops, others reading, and people just there to enjoy food. Definitely a place where people are welcome to spend a good amount of time. The menu is witch themed. The barista was really nice, and gave amazing recommendations regarding the drink. We got the hawks chocolate, cinnamon roll, and pesto roll. The hawks chocolate is very much worth getting. It's a rich chocolate flavor with some vanilla and cinnamon. The frothed milk on top was a great touch. Not too sweet, and a great accompaniment to their food. The cinnamon roll was sweet, warm, and just the texture you want on a Sunday morning. The frosting wasn't too sweet and instead was a pleasant addition to the roll (I'm not a frosting person). My personal favorite was the pesto roll. Warm with a similar texture to the cinnamon roll, but savory instead. The pesto and balsamic glaze was amazing. A strong garlic flavor and possibly one of the best pestos I've ever had. The menu is very vegan and gluten free friendly. I've been to Loaves & Witches now twice and it's growing on me. I think since they're still new, they're still ramping a few things up, as the second time I went they had far more options than the first time (there were very few loaves the first time I went, for example). The vibe of the cafe is so cool: music isn't too loud, the staff aren't shouting, the decor is fascinating, and it feels like a place you want to hang out to work. They have a decent amount of table space inside and some outside on either side of the corner if it's warm enough. It's as advertised: very witchy. It's also a very queer space, and one that anyone can feel welcome and comfortable being themselves in. The first time I went, I got a rosemary bagel toasted with butter. I was a bit disappointed to see the butter come in a plastic to go container with a plastic knife, but the bagel was so incredibly delicious that I forgot about that. The second time I came I got a slice of pumpkin bread which I devoured quickly. I also had tea which they steeped well, although I wish they had more flavor options. They still offer water for patrons with plastic disposable cups, and I wish they had some reusable ones for people who are staying there. The coffee good. the pastries outside of the bagels looked great too. The witch element comes into play through cool design choices, a handful of art pieces, and tarot cards throughout the place. Unfortunately everything felt way too expensive for the actual experience. The space itself felt a bit uncomfortable, loud, and smelled like the sewage so I never felt quite at home or enjoying of the space. I love the concept, the community, and the vegan options which I don't find often-it just feels like maybe the space was rushed and they'd do better with some growth love and a different space. I've been wanting to try this place out since we moved to Chicago. I love the name, I love the idea, and I love the pride, flags, and stickers all over the place. It makes me immediately feel comfortable and safe. Beyond all that, the coffee and pastries are wonderful. I had the huckleberry pie latte today as well as the lemon lavender scone. Both were really flavorful, fragrant, with a little bit of sweetness. All of that together could be overwhelming, but it was done really well here.
