Exterior (the old Tipsy Pig)

Lobalita, we can't wait to come back soon! If you ever went to Tipsy Pig back in the day for those Strawberry Fields drinks (IYKYK), there's a new restaurant concept in the same building called Lobalita ~ a Mexican cantina focused on shareable dishes and unique cocktails in a modern indoor/outdoor space. We came here after a street festival in the Marina during a recent weekend where the vibes were high and the city was alive. The place was full, but we managed to grab a seat outdoors with the kiddos. They also have a full bar if you're in the neighborhood and just want to grab a drink. The cocktail menu is so fun! I ordered the LoLo-Lito (gin, roasted corn, dry vermouth, lime, mini elote) and not only was it refreshingly delicious, it really did have the cutest little corn piece atop! Food-wise we did it all: Ceviche tacos (so fresh), Fundido (a black bean dip with goat cheese), Guacamole, Taquitos (omg they come with a peanut-coconut milk mole that you could literally bottle up with ground chicken as the protein inside), two orders of the Gordita, and the Cochinita Cakes. They also have a kiddo menu. Ok, the Cochinita Cakes were so cool..they essentially were a twist to an Arancini ball ~ crispy rice with a bed of chipotle pulled pork and cotija cheese sprinkled atop, and an avocado aioli. Hands down the most satisfying bite I've had in quite some time. Every dish we ordered had quite the sauce ~ the Gorditas had a crema that was the perfect topper..again, could bottle and sell that separately! Also those chips..perfection. We can't wait to come back again for some summer fun and to try more dishes and drinks with good weather approaching!

Really cute bar and highly recommend sitting in the back patio. We went in early Wednesday evening and it was pretty empty but got super packed with run club coming in. Seems to be just the place large groups! I got the mas mas which was a really refreshing and delicious cucumber drink. Overall food didn't stand out though. Chicken tacos were just okay. Guac was fresh but salsa wasn't flavorful.

Came back for dinner and bites and everything was great again. Some of the drinks are too tart/sweet and the mezcal drinks are very strong. Haven't found a drink I love. But for the food, I tried the tuna tartare this time and it was amazing!!! And still a big fan of the quesadilla, the mole it comes with is delicious but definitely not your regular quesadilla (which I like). We decided to try the birria tacos and I really was not a fan. The birria was dry and it comes with arugula, just really not my vibe; but other people in my party loved those! Patio is cute but could definitely use some more heaters!

I was with some friends for dinner at a nearby restaurant and we decided to check this place out after. The staff were super welcoming and gave us a nice rundown of the menu and space. The bar is very spacious and comfortable, with a nice back patio as well. We only got drinks, but they were all great! I got the horchata colada, which was so refreshing and unique. I also tried one of the poco santo & it was so spicy - which I love! Prices for the drinks were also reasonable given how high quality they were. I will definitely be back!

Lobalita recently replaced the Tipsy Pig in the Marina on Chestnut St. It's a modern Mexican bar with some bites - which I always love. The decor was upscale and modern. I loved the unique cocktail options. I ordered the Mas Mas which was the most refreshing cucumber vodka cocktail I've ever had - the cucumber flavor just hits you right away! My partner ordered the Lolo-Lito which is a gin cocktail with roasted corn - also tasty and clever! For food, we ordered the Taquitos. I loved the crisp and the juicy ground chicken flavor. I do wish the portion was bigger for $14, but it was still tasty and nice to have paired with our drinks. Overall, I think Lobalita is a great addition to the area and I'm sure will be a very popular spot to meet up for drinks!

Came the third day of opening and enjoyed the food and drinks. We ordered the Guacamole with house made salsa and chips Birria tacos - more deconstructed with no crispy cheese & consume is a sauce. Pretty good Baja fish tacos - crispy and substantial Mezcal cocktail with tajin rim - strong and flavorful For now it's no reservations and was open seating which was a bit chaotic to snag an interior seat, but there is a large outdoor backyard space. Flagging down staff can also be tough but once you do, they are attentive. The decor is modern Mexican with weaved basket hangings and fun plates. It was packed on a Thursday. It can get loud, so recommend sitting at the periphery of the restaurant. Will be back.

Lobalita is a really fun spot for drinks and a little bite. I wouldn't consider this a dinner spot -- there is definitely much better Mexican food in the city -- but the chips and guac pair well with the cocktails and they have a mocktail option on the menu (not pictured) for those who don't drink. We got a seat at the bar Saturday afternoon, but it was very busy. They take reservations, so I would recommend doing that if you're planning to visit with a larger party or want to make sure you have a place to sit. I'd also recommend sitting out on the back patio if it's a nice day. It is not covered like the bar darling back patio, but there are heaters.

Lobalita's is a fun restaurant with a great atmosphere, service, and good food. We ordered the birria tacos and bean dip. The bean dip was delicious, and the chips were fresh and flavorful. The birria tacos were also very good and hit the spot. Overall, a great place for a casual meal.

Lobalita opened on March 17th in the old Tipsy Pig spot, and it's been great to see the space used again! The bill themselves as a Mexican Cantina specializing in Tostadas, Enchiladas, and Botanas. The food looks great, though I will say there are already a number of Mexican spots on the same block (Tacolicious, Las Mestizas & Bonita), so we'll see if they can all survive. L ooks modern inside O ffers dishes under $20 B ar is fully stocked A l Pastor is tasty! L ots of apps (Botanas) I nside and outside seating T ry the churros A ll ages can enjoy it

i loved the vibes of this spot, it reminded me of visiting mexico city. it's spacious with a great ambiance, and all open seating. we sat in the back on the patio and loved it. the appetizers were decent, nothing special but the tostadas blew us away! HIGHLY recommend the duck or fish tostada. the mas mas was amazing too. the service was slow but everyone was very nice. would definitely come back.

Noise levels are pretty low - perfect for a date night or a chance to catch up with friends. The bathroom is one stall and the hand soap smells really nice. They also have lotion for us dry handed people! Service: Offered zero water throughout the whole meal and drinks. By the time I was pretty thirsty and wanted water, it was near the time we wanted to leave and it started picking up, so getting the attention of someone to get water was challenging. Considering there's an automatic 20% service charge, the service is really lacking. Food/Drinks: It's like they have the drink shelves for show. All their drinks come pre-mixed and if you look carefully, they just pull it out of the fridge and pour the booze into it and shake it up. They pour it into a glass and add whatever oils and garnishes on top. It hardly feels "crafted" and doesn't warrant the $20+ price tag. They also heavily push their "signature drinks" maybe because they don't know how to make other cocktails? We asked to make a cucumber gimlet, since they have cucumber drinks, and that's when we realized their drinks were premade. Blush - refreshing, but a bit on the sweet side. My friend didn't finish it, but didn't want to ask for another, since they couldn't make the drink she wanted and didn't want another drink that was too sweet Mizuwari - The drink wasn't too whisky forward, but Japanese whiskys tend to be on the lighter side. Also a bit sweeter than I expected in a highball, but it was still pretty good Crispy Potato - Nothing more than a glorified tater tot. It tasted basically like any tater tot you would get in a freezer bag, air fried. It wasn't really greasy, so that was one in their favor. The sauce on the side was pretty good and the saving grace for the potatoes. 2.5/5 rating. Stroop Waffle - the waffle part was light and airy and fairly flavorless. The tuna mix inside was flavorful and fresh and paired well with the waffle. I enjoyed the presentation. 4/5 rating Lobster Rolls - The toast was dry and even the bearnaise sauce didn't save it. The actual lobster filling was pretty good, but the cut to the toast to stuff it was pretty shallow, but not terrible for the $32 price tag. And would have been nice if I had water to wash it down! 3/5 rating Overall super disappointing to pay $150 for 3 small bites and 2 drinks. I would not recommend the food here. Perhaps previous menus of different seasons were better, but this was disappointing for both of us.

On the patio, the heat didn't reach every seat leaving parts of the table chilly. Unfortunately, the food seemed to follow the standard set by the furnshings, and was equally mediocre. The short rib was a touch overcooked, though the mashed potatoes it sat upon were lovely. The mac and cheese had a delicious blend of cheeses, but the pasta was too ordinary. The fried chicken that sat upon it was also plain. Service was the bright spot. Our server was warm, gracious, and patient with our large group. For a big dinner group where seating and service matter most, the restaurant has its advantages. But overall I wouldn't give it a recommendation.

We started off with different wines, some that Tom recommended based on what we told him we didn't like or did like. He apologized for our previous experience and was genuinely a nice guy.
