I hate giving poor reviews but its a needs to be known. The restaurant smelled like a strong campfire, or it smelled like a smokehouse I guess. I ordered the pulled pork plate, it looked like a lot of pulled pork but underneath was a giant slab of greasy pork skin and fat, I guess some like to eat that but it was an instant heart attack if you ask me. The funeral potatoes were not baked or broiled, just frozen potatoes with cheese soup on them 'nasty'. Coleslaw had a lack of dressing not good, the corn bread was the best part of the meal. My wife had the Cobb salad, she said it was way too smokey and was missing the blue cheese crumbles (smokey salad?), chicken was also way too smokey for her. We stayed here so we were a captive audience. We had two breakfasts here. Each time we enjoyed it. The food is good and priced right unlike other hotel restaurants. I had the biscuits and gravy which I liked. The biscuits are fluffy but not crunchy like I wanted more bun like. Another day I had the Wildfire breakfast- 2 eggs bacon toast and hash browns. Really enjoyed our dinner here tonight. I wasn't feeling like going out to eat tonight but my wife convinced me to give this place a try. Wow. Super fast! And friendly too! I really enjoyed the brisket and pork ribs. Anywhere that serves "funeral potatoes" outside of a funeral can't be all bad, right? I wish I would have take a picture of the cherry pie though. This past weekend we ordered food to-go from this restaurant. The food was fine, but a couple days later I noticed that my Visa card was charged for more than I authorized. The waitress (or whoever closed out our tab) changed the tip that I wrote in on the receipt and tripled it. This is very dishonest and not acceptable. You cannot steal money regardless of the amount, whether it is a big amount or small amount. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. I will not recommend this restaurant or go back because of this experience. read more

We were staying at the Zermatt and wanted a quick meal. There were not many options, but the restaurant inside the hotel was great. We ordered a BBQ meal for two and there was more food than we could eat-and we were very hungry. The brisket was pretty fatty, but otherwise it was fine. Service was great. Friendly and attentive without being over the top. The ketchup and bbq sauce bottles were all sticky but otherwise the place was clean. We also had breakfast the next morning and it was good. For an escape from home with homestyle food Wildfire Smokehaus is where it's at Customer service: 9/10 Service was great at Zermatt, they had hostess right there at the door ready to greet everyone coming in. They checked on us frequently and always made sure our water was filled. Environment: 8.5/10 What makes Wildfire Smokehaus so special is that it is located inside the Zermatt resort. The location and environment feel like an escape from reality. Menu: 8/10 For a smokehouse they have everything you could want and more. They even had some local specialties like funeral potatoes on the menu to make it feel personable to utah! They had nearly ever side dish imaginable-- except for corn and I love a good side of corn with my bbq Price: 7/10 The servings are really big, but we do feel it's on the pricier end. But the environment and location makes the price worth it! Taste: 7.5/10 We felt that a lot of the meats were dry except for the Ribs. We were also obsessed with the cornbread. This place needs some work. While the food is good, the experience isn't great. There was around a 15 minute wait for 2 people when we stopped by here. Not too bad...and since the only other option is the bakery, you're pretty much eating here. We were seated, treated to the fire alarm going off two separate times, and then ordered our food. The food didn't take too long to eat, and was fine. I thought the french toast was great. The sausage was pretty good as well. The bad part was watching the rest of the restaurant...two people that were seated before us didn't have ANY server approach them until well after we were about done eating. They finally grabbed someone and asked where their server was. Then two other people eventually got up and went to the front to order their food because again, their server was also nowhere to be found. We waited a bit for our check, never had our water refilled, and were about to just walk up to the front when it finally came. Luckily we had cash, otherwise I'm sure it would have been another 20 minutes to take our card and charge it. We popped in here on Saturday morning for breakfast during our stay at Zermatt. We were seated promptly and offered menus and drinks, which also arrived quickly. The menu is rather limited to classic American breakfast fare so it didn't take long to decide and order. I went with the Wildfire Breakfast--2 eggs, hash browns, bacon or sausage and toast. I asked for eggs over medium (a true test of any breakfast place) and bacon. My husband got the eggs Benedict. Once ordered, our food arrived without too long a wait and it was delicious! The eggs were nearly perfect, the bacon was super yummy, and the toast was well buttered. I absolutely have nothing to complain about. My husband inhaled his meal without me even getting a taste, so I'll assume he approved too. Especially considering this is an on-site restaurant without a lot of competition, I was impressed. I love Midway. I love the Zermatt Resort in Midway. And today I'm a fan of the Wildfire Smokehaus. I honestly had low expectations coming in and walked out pleasantly surprised. The ribs and brisket were tender and flavorful. My sides were the baked beans (more like smoky beans, delicious) and funeral potatoes (only in Utah). And while it seems like a minor detail, much respect to the beer-battered fries. Josh was our server and perfectly explained the menu like it was his own. We finally cleaned our own table and sat for another 30 minutes waiting for food. Yup an hour and a half to get basic bbq food. When we finally received our food it was meh at best. The chicken was somewhat bland and dry. The coleslaw wasn't coleslaw. It looked like shredded iceberg lettuce drowned in mayo and vinegar. I tried a little bite and immediately spit it out. For a $14 meal, you should get more than a child-sized meal, which is what we received. I'd expect higher prices at a resort, but the food quality should match the higher bill, and this place doesn't meet that expectation. Then the toast-with butter on it , fruit last -eggs were only barely warm by the time the toast arrived. Chopped brisket should have been the burnt ends portion/ the tender part of the brisket usually cooked down in bbq sauce for burnt ends . I got a chewy roast.
