I'm so thankful they allow families in to eat and that we found this spot in Yelp! It's a sports bar/restaurant that also has live entertainment on Friday's and I bet would be a lot of fun! It has this old world feel to it, like it's been around since the 1900's. Although it isn't that old. Several TV's available to watch sports. Pub food at its finest. I enjoyed my Club Sammy - it was filled with meat and I could barely get through half of it! The fries- superb! Best fries I've had in a long time. Walking into Melvin's feels like walking back in time, not in a bad way. It just feels like this would have been THE local Heber hangout in a slower simpler time. Although there is a bar there is also family seating, which is super nice for our family. I got the chili burger, I'd be torn between getting it again or trying something else. It was really good, I wouldn't be mad at having it again. Our waitress was super friendly, it wasn't particularly busy when we were there so she had plenty of time to check on us. I could definitely see this place getting busier later in the evening. This is a nice in between of what is offered for food around here. Either fast food or restaurants trying to be too high end. Stop trying to make Heber Park City. Some more "normal" restaurants for people who want a sit down meal but one that doesn't cost $200. Prompt , friendly service, nice draft selection, cold beer, and 10/$10 wings that were meaty, properly crispy but not dried out, and delicious. Normally this is one of my favorite places to eat and have a beer. However, tonight was weird. I ordered the Reuben sandwich for the 20th time in the past 6 months. This was the first time it was severely lacking in both meat and saukeraut. My sister ordered the same and we agreed that they must either have new inexperienced chef or they were running out of ingredients. We mentioned it to our waitress, and she acted like it was no big deal...very matter of fact. I was hoping she would pass along our displeasure but after we complained she was nowhere to be found. Decided to swing by for a linner (late lunch early dinner) after spending the day playing golf up at Wasatch Park Golf course. Brother recommended it since they are Steeler fans (and Browns--it's a house divided) and they have great pub fare. Hubby ordered the Melvin with Velveeta and I got a turkey burger with cheddar and side salad. His burger was covered in so much goodness he knew he had to eat it with a fork & knife. He loved how the flavors all compliment each other and he couldn't get enough of that cheesy goodness. Once I tasted one of his fries, I knew I had to order a side of cheese fries! They are thin slivers of potato wedges so you get the best of both worlds (wedges and crispy fries), and dunking them in the oozy cheese sauce just capped it all off! I really liked the flavor of the turkey burger and devoured every bite. The side salad was tiny and just lettuce, tomatoes, shredded cheese and croutons, but still good. Took a ride to look for some hiking opportunities around Hebert and saw this beautiful lake called Jordanelle off 189. It was about 14:00 and found out it was $20 to get in, without a boat or swimming trunks and craving food, opted for a late lunch. Sat outside on a long picnic table with plenty of elbow room and in short order the waitress was there to take our drink order and with a water dish for the dog. Gave it a 4.5 Lunch was an appetizer of chips and salsa which was not that great and asked the waitress for the cheese option that was of a canned variety e.g. processed, gave it a 2. The main was a Corned Beef Reuben and told the waitress I was Irish (they don't eat much corned beef in Ireland but it was the cheapest USA cut of meat back in the day and became synonymous with St Patrick's day for everyone else) so I told her it better be good, doing her job she didn't steer me away. Haven't had good corned beef yet in Utah (Except my own) so I was taking a chance! Having cooked hundreds of pounds of this meat over the years both at home and for large Irish gatherings of 100 plus, I know my away around this meat. Needless to say, it was what it was, a sandwich thin sliced deli meat and over cooked with the only juiciness coming from the sauerkraut, gave it a 2. Maybe a local favorite because they don't know any better. The other meal was a Chili Cheese Burger that was cooked to order med rare and the chili had the right amount of spice, gave it a 4. Ordered a plain burger for the dog without a roll medium rare and he loved it, he gave it a 5. Both dishes came with thin sliced steak fries that were great and had enough to bring home and make some hash browns the next morning. The waitress was great, good crowd and food was served with the right timing. If in the area again we would go back but will order a hamburger instead. Worst BLT I have ever been served. Plain, apparently un-toasted white bread. Not Wonder Bread, but pretty close, dried out on one side like it had been sitting on the counter instead of actually toasting it. There was a ton of bacon..:but it was cold. Shredded lettuce and a half ripe tomato. Redeeming things about the place: The location is great. You can walk here from most places in town, sit at the bar, enjoy a few beers and walk home with no worries. It's also one of the few places in Heber you can walk to with kids or a baby stroller and sit outside to enjoy a beer. The bathroom is fairly clean for a bar. The pickle fries are good. The rest of the interior could use a good facelift. The actual old bar is kind of neat, but it needs to be refurbished and the tables and booths need some work. read more

Been here several times over the years when camping in Heber City. This time we came with friends and the place was really busy for a Thursday. I had the chicken fingers and fries. The fingers were pretty disappointing, flat and dried out. They could have been improved if they'd had a honey mustard sauce but that wasn't included in the condiments selection.The Ore-Ida crinkle fries were cold and not the nice house made steak fries they used to have. Hubby had the fish hoagie and was really happy. A friend had the chicken wings with Korean Bbq sauce and was really pleased. Another friend had the fish and chips . The fish was good but again he was disappointed in the cold Ore-Ida crinkle cut fries. I hope they get the good house made steak fries back because I don't expect to pay for Ore-Ida grocery store fries. Parking is a bit of a pain but if you're creative you can make it work. We rolled in at lunch time though during a roadtrip that brought us to this public house. They had quite a skeleton staff at the time...just one server (who was super nice) and at least one person in the back cooking. Here is the latest review from our current visit. Waitress staff was fantastic, bar tender was pathetic. I waited at the bar for 7 min while this bearded wonder wrapped up his sad convo with a couple that had no interest in his non sense. After realizing I was waiting on him he came over to me and said " if you're looking to place a take out order you need to talk to the wait staff." I said I'm here to ask if you can turn on a different game. He huffed and puffed ( breathing easily is not this guys friend) and said what channel? I responded I'm not sure, pop up a guide. This dip sh1t then said "you could ask nicely!" Needless to say this is the last time we will ever go back to this sticky floor dump. All food is fried and cooked in a closet. Enjoy! read more
