Ate here because we stayed in the hotel. Service was a bit slow. Took a bit for our drinks and to order our food as well to cash out, though the waitstaff was very friendly and kind. We got the dark chocolate caramel mousse desert with beet appetizer to start then ate the burger. Food was very tasty! Overall experience here was good. I'd come back for convenience but not as first choice. Edit: Came back here a second night and sat in front of the fireplace. Server was very flexible and accommodated us. I was impressed in their emotional awareness to what we needed at our comfort. We did Easter brunch. A good variety of items, from cold seafood and shellfish to prime rib. The smoked salmon was a nice touch. They had an omelet station and a fine selection of desserts. Very very disappointed! My husband took me to Simon's restaurant at the homestead in Midway, Utah. My corn chowder tasted like it was from a can with a whole slice of bacon on top. My Franny's fried chicken was flavorless, not cooked all the way through, the corn bread and tiny scoop of potatoes tasted terrible. My husband got brisket with mac and cheese. I had a great experience here. My friends were doing the crater and I needed to get some work done, so they let me sit in the comfy chairs by the fireplace. We moved into the restaurant when I met my friends for lunch. It's a pretty space and our server was so nice. We were the only people sitting in there the whole time. I ended up getting a call I had to take and she brought my drink refill out to me by the fireplace and started to bring my hamburger out to me too, but then my call ended. My friend who ordered the biscuits and gravy didn't love it, but I have to get five stars for the service! I didn't catch the servers name, but it said Wesley B on the receipt. starting off a week long staycation strong! I brought my family up and we stayed the night at the Homestead. I was debating on where to go for dinner and decided it was destiny for us to eat at Simons! The menu included Schnitzel (my all time favorite meal) and butternut squash ravioli (a special dish we were introduced to on our honeymoon!) the food was spectacular! The views incredible! The service was so special! They brought the kids activities to keep them entertained. Live music really set the mood for a terrific evening! Great service and setting. Plenty of fresh, healthy options to please any palate. My fruit plate and veggie omelette were good but my husband got the oatmeal with roasted apples and the avocado burrata toast and those were fantastic. This restaurant is tucked away just past the registration desk of the hotel lobby. With no signage, it would be easy to miss it. But with a host kiosk up front, my wife and I approached and waited for someone to come by. We saw a couple staff members glance our way and then walk the other direction. Finally, a young lady appeared from the back, looked at us silently, and then after an awkward pause asked "table for two?" without any further conversation or greeting. She picked up a couple menus and turned around. We assumed to follow her. After being seated she mumbled something about our server and walked away. Although off to a rough start, we were optimistic about the menu-several dishes looked really good. Our server came and greeted us and was much more friendly than the host. She kept our drinks filled and checked on us regularly. We both ordered chicken and both enjoyed our meals. I finished off my entire chicken fried chicken. The vibe of this place is really odd. There's a sitting area with a big chandelier and ornate moldings on the walls and then an adjoining room has a more rustic, cabin-like motif. It's like they started a renovation and stopped midway through. Overall, food was good. Service and ambience were mediocre. Buckle in. "Breakfast with Santa" was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. I hope my review stops someone from spending a crazy amount of money ($32/adults, $14/children) for spoiled food, a mall-Santa experience, and zero service. First, the high price was clear when I made reservations and I was happy to pay it because I have high expectations of Homestead. Well... the expectations are dashed. Spoiled Food: The buffet had a variety of food items, but they were poor quality (muffins/danish tray from a frozen box, scrambled eggs from a carton, Bisquick pancakes, etc.). Worst of all, the sausage and bacon smelled and tasted rancid. The only redeeming food items were the breakfast potatoes and hot chocolate bar which our kids seemed to enjoy. Santa: Santa was not there when we arrived, and when we finally noticed him he was tucked in the farthest corner of the room. Santa was fine; kind and looked the part. But their was no experience. It was a classic "mall-Santa" set up. (Wait in line, sit on the lap, photo-op.) At this price point I was expecting more of an event or experience - maybe he could enter the room ringing bells, ho-ho-ho-ing, spend a little time talking to the children, etc. No Service The only service we received was when the hostess handed us our bill. We seated ourselves, served ourselves at the buffet, and even had to chase down one of the kitchen staff to ask for water. Price: Our bill had an added 20% gratuity. 2 adults and 4 children cost $177!! Typically, we can play on spending between $75-$100 to feed out family, but this worse than a complimentary hotel meal. I wrote a letter to the management of Simon's restaurant with my complaints. That was seven weeks ago and I have heard nothing from them. Please, spare yourself a horrible experience and a chunk out of your wallet! You'd do better going to Denny's and seeing Santa at the mall. read more

Was pleasantly surmised with this restaurant. Service was friendly and efficient during a lunch rush. I ordered the BLT with French Fries. This sandwich was loaded with Delicious crispy bacon, garden fresh tomatoes, crispy lettuce and just the perfect amount of avocado and 3 slices of yummy lightly toasted bread. Much like the rest of the Homestead resort, this restaurant is in desperate need of a renovation. I had the Jack Daniel's Bourbon steak dinner with potatoes and it left much to be desired. Probably the biggest issue with everything we had was that it all came out room temperature. Bleh! I like my food to be sizzling hot if I'm getting steak and potatoes. The spinach artichoke dip was actually really good. And the raspberry lemonade exceeded my expectations. The waitstaff was extremely friendly, helpful, and responsive. Beautiful dining room. Went for brunch. Had Homestead breakfast, scones, breakfast sandwich, Eggs Benedict, and Greek yogurt and berries. The scones were to die for-a must for all diners. There is potential at this property, but some of the kinks need to be worked out before I would return again. Our room was beautiful and newly constructed. I was surprised when we checked in and were asked if we would like to make reservations for Thanksgiving dinner. Reservations had already been prearranged for our party. We were left at the front desk while they checked on our reservation in the kitchen? The new Milk House was recently opened. It is a sweet little treat shop with a friendly staff. The Thanksgiving meal was good. Our server was kind and attentive. The biggest disappointment was having to stand in a line for over an hour and fifteen minutes to get our food! It reminded me of a church banquet. By the time we got to the food area it had been picked over and the presentation was disappointing. Then we felt rushed to finish our meal. Just had a family dinner there for 2022 New Year's Eve. We had a party of eight and ordered the family meal for six, and two orders of macaroni and cheese for the little ones. There was lots of food to go around and even had to take home the left overs. Fried chicken, pot roast/gravy, mashed potatoes, mixed veggies, salad and some garlic toasted bread (6pieces). It was worth the price. We will probably come back next year for the new year since Utah doesn't have any decent new year celebrations to attend. After reading all the reviews, I was nervous about trying this place. However my hubby really wanted to try it so we finally did. We were seated immediately and the host was very friendly. We sat by a big window where we could enjoy looking outside. They bring your bread in a big flower pot with butter balls. It was an interesting concept and the bread was delicious! We got buffalo wings as an appetizer and they were very good. We asked for extra blue cheese and were so happy when they brought two big bowls of it. We love our sauces! I got the Chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. The chicken was cooked perfectly and I loved the veggies. Simon's Restaurant at the Homestead Resort has recently reopened after a remodel with a new chef and new menu. Chef Roée is committed to using fresh, local ingredients and cooking quality food. Last night three dining companions and I went to Simon's to check out the new menu. We were seated in the quiet dining room next to blazing fireplace. We started with crab dip which was chock full of pieces of lump crab. We also tried the fried cheese curds featuring cheese curds from Heber Valley cheese. The cheese curds melt under the crispy coating and are served with house made tomato basil soup to dip in. Yum! For dinner I ordered the fish special which was halibut. The fish was tender and flaky and perfectly cooked. Accompanying the halibut was sautéed kale and mushrooms and 'cottage fries' which were crispy brown chunks of potatoes. My dining companions all ordered prime rib which is available on Friday and Saturday nights in 8 or 12 oz portions. All three loved the thick cut of meat. The prime rib is served with a baked potato and Brussels sprouts. We shared two desserts. I don't have much of a sweet tooth but the apple donuts knocked my socks off. Much like an Italian zepppole, the apple donuts were small pillows of fried dough rolled in cinnamon and sugar. We also ordered a 'Charleston Chew', a blondie served piping hot in a cast iron skillet topped with butterscotch and ice cream. read more

My spouse and I were at Simon's restaurant for breakfast this morning. We had a $40 gift certificate from a friend, who recommended the place. The food was okay (My homestead Benedict was good though very salty. Husband's biscuits and gravy was not good- biscuits were crunchy. He ate very little). We gave the waitress our gift certificate for a $24 check. Then we sat there for a long time. Eventually she came back and asked if we needed anything else. We asked about change, and she replied that they don't do change on gift certificates. We said okay, well how about a scone or something for the balance. She said okay, then didn't come back. We waited about 10 minutes, then left. Not giving change for gift cards is not an uncommon or unreasonable policy. Not to say anything about it though? That is unconscionable. That is stealing. Was that extra $16 a tip? Did the restaurant keep it? Do they regularly defraud customers? We tip well, but we like a choice. There was one other couple in the restaurant. It was not busy. There is zero excuse for this gouging or the poor service. I wouldn't go back there if someone gave us another free meal (and no one should do that since the place will rob them). Ps I tried contacting them through the website and received many "There was an error sending your message. Please try again later" Then I tried the email they have listed on their website. Dined here with a large group over the weekend. The waiter, bus person were perfect, friendly and patient. The food was good. Not great, it was boring maybe...I could have done the same at home. The bread was not fresh, not warm.. skimpy on the veggies which was mostly peppers and onions-yuck. The wine was good :) It was fine and it was expensive. We had low hopes for this restaurant because of the other reviews, but I'm happy to say we were pleasantly surprised! My husband has the pot roast and I had that filet mignon. It was so good and worth the price. Great service! We plan on going again next year. The only tiny downside would be that the restaurant could use some updating, and the smell from the pool kind of leaks out to the restaurant which is a little off putting. read more

Now that we have moved back to the area, we were excited to go there again for great food and service. The service was atrocious. Front desk staff and waiters have little to no personality... don't even crack a smile at you. Front desk girl asked me to swipe my card for a $90 charge without telling me what it was for prior. When I asked what it was for she just replied "it will be put back on your card when you check out" okay??? I killed 4 bugs inside our cottage. Room service came at 7pm. The hot tub smelled like boiled eggs and was extremely dirty. The grounds were gorgeous and well kept. Simons restaurant was overpriced for the quality of food we received.. my husbands halibut wasn't seasoned and covered in cheese sauce. My steak was over cooked and the waitress couldn't tell me if the "steak and potatoes" would come with mashed potatoes or a baked potato... our daughters fries were delicious and the artichoke dip was amazing as well. read more

If you like drinking PBR with your meal you might enjoy the flavors of Simon's. To start my mom asked to sit by the fire and we were denied because the host said "other people are waiting for it" but no group ever showed up. Our waiter was chewing gum while he gave us laughable service. We wanted deserts and ordered 2 slices of pie and a cookie sandwich. We thought about getting up and leaving because it took more than 30 minutes. Our expectations certainly weren't high but we were severely disappointed to be served old store bought pie and day old cookies that were hard as a rock.
