They do not seemingly update their website or their hours. We drove around for ages looking for the Norwalk and then the Fairfield location. All to finally find them and they're closed and the only indication is they'll be back in Spring hanging on the actual store. Stopped in recently for the first time. The cold lobster roll was really good, and had a good amount of lobster on it. The hot lobster roll did not have a lot of lobster on it for 21.00. I recently tried the lobsterrcraft food truck when it was parked at Two Roads brewery In Stratford CT. We ordered a LBLT roll. Average. Why? Too much butter on the roll. I had to hold it at a 45 degree angle to drip off all the butter because it was detracting from the fresh lobster taste. Not a good thing :( Plus I had to wait for 30 minutes for my roll. I hired Lobstercraft to cater my husband's surprise 40th birthday. Their signature "Heat Wave" roll is by far the best lobster roll we have ever had. Everrrrrr. They also offered us a pulled pork option for our non-seafood loving guests. Captain Mike kept in touch throughout the process leading up to the party. This is a new food truck in the area. Great lobster rolls in several varieties. Very generous potions - a good value for the buck! We search out good places for lobster rolls all over New England and we can honestly say no place gives you as much lobster not even Alison's in Kennebunkport. We tried the coastal which is the traditional Mew England lobster roll on toasted bun with just butter. You'd have to go to Branford to get one this good! They have three others the owners think are even better. Will try those next time. Not quite sure where the truck will be ... you have to check their website. I will absolutely have to come back. Lobster was cooked perfectly. No BS here. I ate the lobster roll so fast I forgot to take a picture of it. People find any reason to complain. Yes it is served with potato chips. What were you expecting gold plated potato chips? Fair pricing. Most places try to rob you with filler and crap. As a visitor to the area and lobster roll lover I went out of my way to try this place. I went to the Kitchen at Darien. It is not a restaurant - more of a takeaway with a bar and stools inside. The lobster roll is the best I've ever tasted - the coastal - a fresh, toasted soft buttered roll just loaded with tender lobster. They really know how to do it. The slaw was pretty average and the chips fine. I really enjoyed it. I did however think that the counter server was poor - unenthusiastic, unknowledgeable and pretty well let the business down. She didn't enhance my experience at all. I would have enjoyed it more had she offered more help. (And I'd have given it 5 stars). read more

Food is decent and quantities are good for the price. The lobster rolls themselves are about $20-$25 ish each, not cheap but a good amount of lobster is in each sandwich. I was in Darien this past weekend, and I had half of a hot lobster roll, half of a surf and turf roll, a sample of the lobster mac & cheese, and the lobster hush puppies. I was reluctant to shell out $26 for lunch, but may, oh my, was everything absolutely amazing. As much as I love flank steak, and Lobstercraft grilled up a delicious piece of meat, I'd actually recommend sticking to the traditional roll. Be sure to order the hush puppies, too. We love the Coastal hot-butter lobster roll and the TMLR traditional Main Lobster Roll. The inside is small but cute, it has a Nautical look. There are no tables, but you can sit inside and eat at the high table tops against the walls with bars stools. The only problem that we had is that the stools did not have backs to them, so it is not comfortable to sit. There is no bathroom, however the owner allowed us to use the restroom in back past the kitchen. Otherwise, we would come back here for a quick bit if we are ever in the area. read more

Just stopped by the new Lobstercraft Restaurant in Darien for a lunch roll. Chose the Classic Lobster Roll. The lobster was perfectly cooked (tender, not rubbery) and left no doubt as to its freshness (the lobster is cooked on sight and not merely re-heated). The roll was fresh, buttered and toasted. Lets start with the truck. Brilliant! and might I say the best lobster roll I have ever had. We waited for weeks for the restaurant to open and finally had the opportunity to visit. The decor is great. It felt like I walked into an old lobster shack. The parking was kind of crazy but we managed. The menu board had all things lobster with 6 different lobster rolls, a Lobster, Kielbasa Mac and Cheese and Lobster Hush Puppies (deep fried cornbread balls of heaven). There is a daily special board with more delicious lobster. I ordered the Lobster Taco's and the Mac. My wife had the LBLT (Lobster Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato) and the Hushpuppies. We went next door to the wine store to grab a bottle of wine that they had paired with our food. (a pleasant surprise) and dug in. The Lobster Tacos had a great blend of tender salty sweet lobster meat mixed with a spicy salsa lettuce and topped with avocado. The Mac was a creamy and rich blend of cheese and pasta, a smokey addition of kielbasa and chipotle breadcrumbs interspersed with tender lobster chunks. The LBLT was insane! a bed of lettuce with tomato, a pile of lobster topped with bacon and a tasty garlic aioli. "Wow!" was all my wife kept saying. Needless to say we will be going back. The specials, we were told, will be a weekly thing as they were just putting out the sign for Lobster Sausage, OMG! Joey D. to answer your question, I have seen the lobster taken out of sealed commercial plastic bags. Not very realistic to expect lobster to be caught that day. However, I did think they cooked and shelled the lobster, but that was not what I saw when I visited the truck at an event. You're better off to buy whole live lobster and boiled them yourself. I should clarify that I bought my roll at the food truck, which was parked in downtown Stamford on a weekday afternoon. Talk about an awesome lunch! Sure the rolls are pricey, but we are talking about lobster here, not chicken sandwiches. Know that going in. I caught the chef putting my lobster meat on a scale, presumably to make sure they were not over/under filling my roll; good news so you know you are always going to get a filled sandwich, but pretty much elements throwing a little extra on top. I also notice my chips were coming out of a kettle fried ruffles bag. Again, not a big deal, since the lobster is the main show. Also know this is a CT lobster roll, its not that salad concoction they serve up in Maine. Fresh Sound Lobster, butter, salt, and a damn good roll make an awesome lunch that is not terrible on the wallet, all things considered. You would be foolish to miss this one. read more
