Saw this place as I was driving by and wondered if it was any good. Sat at the bar for a beverage and some cheese curds. Beverages were good. Cheese curds were tasty. Place seems like a family friendly tavern. Probably go back.

Tasty but needed it hotter. Seemed cold in places. Want my ramen piping hot.

It's under new management, but not sure it's much better. Service was very, very spotty. I think she was new. But lag times were long. Waited about 20 minutes to be told the Porter I wanted was not available (but it ended up on the bill) The shrimp spaghetti squash was mushy and salty. I sent it back. The Manager did come out to apologize. Brussels sprout were tasty but maybe a little overdressed. Hubby's fish and chips were edible but looked a little sparse on the large black plates. I'd increase the price and fill the plate with more fries and another piece of fish. My beans and cornbread appetizer was pretty tasty but cornbread was more like cake. Had a big drizzle of molasses, maybe?

This is a tenderloin sandwich that was supposed to be thin. Watery cocktail I was punished at the end of my visit

Worst food. Worst cocktail. Rudest, nasty bartender. Not only does the food suck, for example the tenderloin was soggy on one side, the drink, that was so inventive, was tasteless.full of ice, no alcohol. We were there to have a tenderloin and watch the Fever. The game was 3 minutes from the end when the bartender/ manager (so he says) turned off all the TVs. We told him the game was almost over and he said the place was closed, as it was 10:00. Then he went to the bar. I told him that was the worst drink I have ever paid $15 for. What a rip off and an emotionally shocking treatment. If we had come in to eat at 9:30 would we have put out?

Out story: We were looking for a quick Sunday-after-church. We are foodies and steer away from chains for this meal. We didn't want the usual places we go. We decided to stop in at the Local. Luckily, they just restarted Sunday service. Their story: They just restarted Sunday service and have a very limited menu and staff. Our server told us that if there was something we wanted from the standard menu, she would see what they could do (time, ingredients, etc. - being a cook myself, I know sauces, etc. could be impossible...). They are in the process of addressing customer feedback (complaints) with concerns about noise level, etc. Since Sundays are slow, they had unfinished decorations and rolls of paper. They left us to eat and socialize and didn't work on these tasks in the front. The experience: we were the only people in, so service and sound level (a common complaint) were perfect. They have a wonderful drink and cocktail menu that is innovative. The mock tails are just as creative and enticing. The sandwiches and salads are the Local menu standards. No surprises for customers, so comfort for returnees looking for their favorites. The loaded tots have all the best on one tray. A real winner. The Ham and bean soup was good as well as the house salad. My husband was a little disappointed with the size of the patty in his lamb burger. The Bottom Line: we will return on Sunday. The food is good and not the usual Sunday brunch eggs and.pancakes (although they have beignets so you can go sweet if you wish and still enjoy something new). What I like about the Local is the opportunity to enjoy something different, and hopefully they can create that slice of special on the menu for Sunday.

Heated up next morning with garden fresh hot peppers and eggs over easy---YUM!

It's been 10 years since we last visited this restaurant, but sign said new owners..........so we tried it and we will be back. Hopefully next time I can give 5 stars. Handsome husband had BBQ sandwich, NOT soaked in sauce which is a good thing! Fries were crispy and fresh. I had shrimp protein bowl. Shrimp were blackened perfectly and tender, not chewy or tough. Quinoa was a copious serving, but squash was cubed, mushy and tasteless...???frozen. Fresh roasted would have been ideal. Walnuts were nice crunch. Kale only made a nominal showing....so disappointed....BUT had so much to take home, we had breakfast. Heated up, added fresh garden hot peppers with some Havarti cheese, eggs over easy and it made a tasty brunch for us today on Sunday. Thank-you

Chicken wings - the hubs said they were meaty and moist. Not quite five star, would have preferred buffalo style BUT he said he would order again. The real highlight was the service! Our rockstar server was incredibly attentive and personable, so much so that I made a point of calling it out to the manager. Sarah, our server was phenomenal and a true ambassador for Upland. She told us that Upland started in Bloomington and, now, there are five locations in Indy area. The food is locally sourced and Upland supports the community. She stands by all of their food! We ordered off the Devour menu so we could try a variety of foods. We didn't have a craft beer because it was early in the day, even for me. We started with the Spinach Artichoke Dip, which is large and shareable. The dip is delicious with lots of artichoke. The dip comes with really fresh blue tortilla chips and toasted pita bread. The portion was so generous that we took half home. For entree, I had the Blackened Salmon BLT sandwich with blue cheese slaw. The salmon was a large portion of fresh, perfectly cooked fish. There was thick sliced bacon on top with lettuce and tomato. A spicy aioli sauce was on the salmon. The sandwich was fabulous and I would highly recommend. If you like blue cheese, you will like the blue cheese slaw. The slaw is fresh and tangy. My husband had Bad Elmer's Fav burger with fries. His immense 1/2 pound burger was perfectly cooked medium rare (as ordered). He raved how good the meat tasted. The burger was topped with two slices of thick cut bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce and tomato. His fries were excellent, large and crispy (I ate half of his fries). We took the Chocolate Brownie dessert home. They had packaged the caramel and whip cream separately, so it was easy to assemble. The brownie is really rich and chocolaty. We loved the dessert. Sarah was kind and proactively brought boxes out for us to package leftovers. She thanked us for coming. The service is amazing. The bartender showed me the Happy Hour menu. From 3:00 - 5:00, beers and sliders are $4 to name a few of the great deals. In addition, a featured daily beer is special priced. Growlers are discounted on Wednesdays and Sundays. Television monitors are playing various sporting events. Parking is available towards the rear of the restaurant. We did not find close parking early on a Thursday morning. I highly recommend. I'll be back for Happy Hour. This is an easy 5 stars.

We sat at a high top table in the bar. Our server, Bailey (the bartender), was friendly and super attentive. She made recommendations and kept glasses filled. The craft beer selection is excellent with about 16 local options on tap. My husband had a Fall City "Hipster Repellent". The name alone is interesting, but he loved his beer. I had the Espresso Martini which came with roasted coffee beans floating on top. My cocktail went down easy. I also had a glass of the Berringer Chardonnay. The pour is generous. We shared a plate of Loaded Tots, which was wonderful. The tots are made from scratch in-house and covered with roasted bits of pork belly, cheese, a sauce and green onions. We LOVED the tots, which came out super hot. We also shared a plate of the Loaded Hummus. The plate is beautiful and colorful. The hummus is fresh made and loaded with bits of tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and is delicious on a balsamic reduction. The hummus is served with a generous portion of fresh in-house made focaccia bread which tasted amazing. The Loaded Hummus is a winner in my book. Bailey our server was fabulous. She worked the entire bar and was an ambassador of the chef and menu. I wish we had time to stay for dinner because the food is outstanding. Each dish that we saw pass by looked delicious and artistic. I highly recommend. We will be returning for dinner soon. Easy 5 stars! We found street parking, but parking was limited.

We always enjoyed the blue cheese potatoes, gnocchi, and perogies, but in particular we very much miss the crab and roasted artichoke toast, which was unlike anything we have had anywhere else and may have been my favorite dish going anywhere. We are grateful at least that they haven't eliminated the pretzels, which are also unique from any other (although we miss the cheese ball it used to be served with). No sauce necessary. I tried the teriyaki but it wasn't to my liking and the wings don't require anything extra. They are perfection straight outta the kitchen as served on butcher paper. The fries are probably the best fries I have ever eaten. Seriously. I'm a fry connoisseur - I know my way around a fried potato! Best part: the price! They are priced appropriately.
