This place is the gem of Whittier. One day my boyfriend nonchalantly says he's gonna take me to get a coffee at his spot. We walk in and I'm kind of upset he hadn't brought me in sooner. Clothes, jewelry, books, hydro flasks, candles, plants galore and gifts for anyone on your list- this is the spot! The store is always clean. The coffee shop is at the back of the store so plan on always leaving with something even though you only came in for coffee. This little shop is a local fixture in Whittier. They stock several brands from other small businesses, even at their coffee bar. Pre-COVID, I'd stop in and head straight to the back for a lattè and sip and shop. I've been buying all my newborn-toddler gifts from this store. I think I fell in love!! This place had everything I needed for everyone on my Christmas list. I feel like this place is perfect for shopping even if it's not Christmas. It was expensive for it to just break right away, the claps wouldn't close all the way so it keeps falling off my neck I am unable to wear it, I don't work I don't have money to be just throwing away like that, the jewelry is final sell. I've been a fan from afar for a long time, the content on Instagram has always been super cute & kitschy! So I dragged my boyfriend after brunch!! However, my experience was so ODD. We entered & browsed the store left to right, wanting to take our time browsing at all the novelty items, but we were getting wind that we were being followed. He noticed immediately, however, I was caught up trying to find gifts for 2 relatives. Once I became aware, I was so let down!!! I honestly thought the lingering employees were little Gen Z shoppers, because their clothes & manners were super nonchalant & FAR FROM customer service. Looking super bored to be there, honestly. Even crowding up the aisle, because the girls were THAT close to us "straightening & dusting." Not once were we offered help, but how could they when all their effort was spent following us, switching off, then sipping frappes at cash wrap? I wanted to speak up, but chose not to let it ruin my Sunday. I've worked for so many retailers as a merchandiser, & secret shopper in my time, I've worked with Loss Prevention & know how operations work. Simply not it. When we visited on a Saturday morning, there was a table outside for making omelettes and other breakfast dishes. Inside, you can find something you will like even though you weren't originally looking for it. There was books for adults and kids, cards, potted plants, Patagonia clothing, scented candles, toys and games, and so much more! I've even got some hair product as a Valentines' day gift that was purchased here in the past. Is that a pair of socks with Bruce Lee on it? I just saw another pair of socks with Streetfighter characters! How fun! There's also a mixed drink bar inside and table that's usually occupied. We ordered an iced green matcha tea and sat outside where there are small tables. We didn't like the flavor of the drink but the server was kind of enough to add more green matcha powder. I don't give 5 stars to too many Yelp reviews. Maybe 10% of my reviews. Local Fixture unreservedly deserves 5 stars. Had a really bad experience here after being a local customer for a while. Bought a piece of jewelry that I needed to return and came back after Christmas and wasn't able to. I wasn't even given the option to return it. When I purchased the item I was told I could return it (I even had a receipt and everything) and then came back and found that wasn't the case. Wow, I just had the most awful experience here today. After years of being a loyal customer, having spent thousands here for gifts (& coffee), I will not be returning. Today being Black Friday, I had it set to come and do some holiday shopping. Since the moment I stepped through the door, I was followed every single step of the way. As I browsed the aisles, she adjusted right beside me. Eyes glued! It was completely unnerving, unnecessary and unprofessional. Even after seeing my husband and I purchase over $100 worth of items, as our gifts were being wrapped she continued to keep her eyes glued. Once I had enough, I asked to speak to the manager, who she claims happens to be her, Montse. Instead of being any bit professional or apologetic, she's outright rude even while not denying it. Saying "it's Black Friday and there's a lot of thefts". I did not see her or any employee follow anybody else. When I said I'd follow up with an email, she sarcastically said "Do it, want my full name? Here take this card with our information". I cannot believe just how unprofessional your supposed manager is. After years of loyal shopping, I will no longer support your business if this is how you treat your customers. read more

Loved that plants were strewn all over the store and the pot selection was amazing. Unique planters in various sizes paired with beautifully kept plants. As a Whittier local, I'm always happy to support local businesses. I heard about Local Fixture through friends and have gone back many times since my first visit. The staff are welcoming and helpful. They have so many novelties to purchase from that I spend quite a bit of time looking around. Since the holidays are upon us, I have been more than happy to purchase some gifts here. They also have a coffee bar from which I've purchased the Aztec Spices Latte and it's my favorite now. Get it with agave syrup. The atmosphere is inviting and friendly. They also offer gift wrapping on site and it just makes the whole process of gifting easier.
