Shady business practices. Item price is listed and their cash register lists a higher price on some items. I purchased something that's $12.99 and their system lists it as $14.99? Another item that was $14.99 comes out to be $16.99?? Happened to me on multiple items. All these extra dollars add up. I trusted them and didnt check my receipt when I left. Now I have to drive back over 1 hour due to LA traffic to get a partial refund on what Im owed because they cant do it electronically or over the phone. So disappointed. read more

Terrible client services. I bought a mug as a gift on 1/10/26 that had a price on it of $29.99 and do not realize until I got home to prepare the gift that I was charge $32.99 for it. I went back today 1/12/26 to get a refund for the difference. I was told by the manager/claim owner if the franchise he can not do anything and it's not his problem. He can not refund me the difference and it's a Hallmark corporate issue and not his problem. I told him that makes no sense and he said that Hallmark changes prices and they don't always tell them or send him price labels. I stated it's not my problem and I wanted my refund. He said he could refund me the entire amount but needs the product back. I told him it was a gift and that's not going to happen. He said he can't do anything more for me. I told him I would take it up with them and I would not ever shop in his store again and he just said okay. Poor example of client service and brand reputation. With all the other options there is no need to shop here and I advise every to shop elsewhere! read more

I love a good card unfortunately sending greeting cards is becoming a thing of the past. I hate that for the world. Thank God we still get them in our birthday gifts. Just know all you people that send Christmas cards birthday cards thinking of you cards are people that I personally cherish the most. I hate that our store in my city got closed down. So I had to pop in to get that good Hallmark feeling . First thing I see when I walk in ....precious moments so cute. There's a huge TikTok craze going on where you paint your precious moments into emo kids or Halloween inspired and they're calling them altered moments. To my excitement, they happen to have all the Disney princess precious moments. Of course my favorite Snow White yes! Seconds of being in the store I'm already going crazy ! Moving down to the next cabinet Disney .....it's OK Crystal try and contain yourself! Turns out they have snow white trickled all over the store. Did I find the jackpot. My favorite place. They have a great selection of cards, gifts and ornaments at different price ranges. Friendly and helpful staff. I really wanted the Wonder Woman ornament and it was sold out. They found it from another store, had it sent over and called me when it came in. I know we are all busy but their kindness made the little girl in me smile. Hallmark shops are still a thing! A day before the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown I was looking for the closest Hallmark shop since the one in Downey (used to be on Lakewood Blvd) closed ages ago. Well you can guess how that went. I finally brought my daughter's here on 5/1/22 because they wanted to pick out a Mother's Day card for me plus I needed one for my own mama and my mama-in-law. This particular store teases you with small displays at the front, then bigger ones as you move further inside. Then BOOM... the card racks are all lined up towards the back. "Control! Control! You must use control..." (This ties in with my favorite green Star Wars character further below.) The urge to open every dang card (mind you, with clean hands) is beyond both of my children's control. Lol. There were really cute American made cards for $2. There were also several musical cards for under $7. Jen's Hallmark Shop had a pretty swell selection - and organized! There were also a slew of gifts for a wide variety of folks. It's in a shared plaza lot with free parking near Trader Joe's in Whittier, CA. I dropped a star because the two young ladies at the counter did not welcome anyone to the store or to my knowledge ask customers if they needed help. I would really despise if any other Hallmark stores near me including this one permanently closed ... Terrible customer service. Walked into the store to look for ornaments and the old lady with glasses at the counter blankly stared at me as I walked in and made me feel unwelcome. A basic, "welcome. Is there anything I can help you find today?" Would've been preferred rather than silence and with a glare. I'm not entitled for any special treatment, but low EQ from any sort of business is unacceptable. For those who live in the area, I'd recommend the Hallmark store in Motebello. Cute selection with a little bit of everything. I stopped in to grab a birthday gift for my mom and figured this would be one of the safer stores to visit in the area since it usually isn't crowded. I was very pleased with their selection and customer service. They also did a great job at visibly wiping down surfaces and keeping the store clean. We found what we needed and even purchased a few masks from their mask and hand sanitizer stash behind the counter. I will definitely be back! read more

Jen's Hallmark Shop is located right next to Trader Joes. I frequent this Trader Joes a lot almost weekly when I'm back in the area. So I decided one day to check out this Hallmark store to get a card for one of my friends mother. She had sent over a card to the house wishing my family well and it made my parents pretty happy. I wanted to return the favor back and get a wonderful card. Not that many card stores anymore, they are practically all closed down but this one is still standing strong and they have a large selection of cards, gifts and just things you might not think you need but honestly you probably will buy because it is so cute! I ended up buying a 2015 small diary calender that I can write all my things that I will be planning for next year and I can't wait. It was Minnie Mouse and yes I do enjoy a little bit of Disney characters, it makes me smile even if I am a little bit old to be into it. I can care less! Seems like Hallmark shops are disappearing off the face of the Earth. Glad to see that this one is still around. Used to go here quite often when I was dating my wife. Nowadays, it is quite rare to go here. It looks pretty much the same as it appeared 13 years ago. With one exception, there was an aisle with no greeting cards. It was completely empty. Maybe, they were in the middle of reorganizing? For the first time ever, I did not find a Hallmark card that said what I wanted to say! This is the worst Hallmark store I've ever visited. The employee has NO knowledge of customer service! As I walk in to the store, the fat short lady behind the counter yells towards the door, "we close in 10 minutes". No hello, welcome or good afternoon. I reply with, "I'm just here to pick up an order". Her demeanor slightly changed when she realized I wasn't there to shop around. I just felt like that was extremely rude! I've worked in customer service all my life, and I know you say, "hello, welcome, good afternoon" no matter what time that customer walks in that door. I was trying to be a good customer and patronize their store since things have been kinda crazy with COVID. I had ordered some cards from Hallmark online and had them delivered to my home. Then I thought it would be a good idea to order some more things I needed, but have them delivered to the store. I figured, I can pick it up from the store and maybe shop a little more while I'm there. Big mistake. As soon as I walked in, it's literally empty and you think the employee who was there might turn around to greet me, but no. She kept fixing whatever she was fixing on the display and didn't turn around until I reached the counter. I'm the one who said good morning I'm here to pick up a package. Absolutely zero customer service skills and not only that, but the box I picked up was totally smashed, opened and retaped. I will NOT be going back to this Hallmark store. read more

Some cards can get pricey but there's a value section where you can find cards for 99 cents to $1.99. I came here yesterday before I stopped at Trader Joe's, and I had never been to a hallmark store but my sister and son wanted to look for squishmallows. As soon as we enter the door, my son says 'oooh look balloons' (he's 8) and the old white lady behind the counter yells in a rude manner, "we don't have balloons!!!" No hi welcome, nothing. I was not there for balloons. I told her, "I'm not getting balloons, my son was making an observation."And she replies in a smart ass manner "okay well I'm just telling you don't think about it cause the helium is for the hospital" Okay???!And???? We felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome I wanted to leave immediately. They had quite a few squishmallows but I refused to buy anything after how we were treated. On Saturday 6/20, I placed an online order for three mahogany collection greeting cards for Father's Day. Order was submitted successfully and payment was confirmed for same day pick up at Jen's Hallmark Store in Whittier, California. I arrived at the store and inquired at the front desk regarding pick up location for online orders. Sharon, the store associate states that didn't have any of the three cards I ordered online and indicated that my ordered had been cancelled. Disappointed but optimistic that I would find an alternate Mahogany card, I asked Sharon if she could direct me to the section where I could find other Mahogany cards to select from. Sharon stated she was unsure where that section would be and pointed to the Father's Day section and stated "if there were any they would be over there". I proceeded to the Father's Day section where another associate was and asked if she new where the Mahogany Father's Day cards were. To my surprise, there was a very pronouncedly-labeled Mahogany section with not one but all three of the cards I had purchased online that both associates said were not in the store. I didn't had to move anything around to find them nor was there only one or two of each on the shelf. So I asked why did you tell me you guys didn't have any of the cards I ordered. The associate Sharon indicates that there was no way from them to know what cards there were from the online order. So I asked them if the card description which begins with "Good Black Men are strong romantic Father's Day Card" didn't give them a hint that this could potentially be from the Mahogany collection. Both associates looked at each other and stated "we were too busy to look for it" so we just cancelled the order. Let's level set here, there were no more than 5 people in the store when I arrived. I placed the order around 3pm. The store closed at 6pm. The order cancellation notice arrived in my mailbox around 4:30. I drove to the store and arrived at 5:15 not knowing that ordered had been cancelled until the store associate told me. Since the order confirmation states "don't head to the store until you receive confirmation that your order is ready", it is very clear that they never counted on me driving to the store before receiving the notification and determining they had falsely indicated in-writing that they did not have any of the three mahogany cards I ordered. This is a problem for me and it should be for you as well. I am disgusted, disappointed and down right angry to have experienced this treatment and fed a lie. I will contact the store management on Monday to discuss as well. read more

Hallmark the business that provides you with the best cards around. You can go to Target and other places but going to the original store feels so much better! This location is in a terrible yet perfect spot. Terrible for customers but perfect for the business. The parking is crazy! Hallmark shares their already small parking lot with Togos and Trader Joes. Also, to top it off it is on the most busy corner of Whittier Blvd and Colima. Sometimes it's hard to get out due to so much traffic but it is always flowing. The inside is small but perfect for what they have. They have really cute figurines, lots of cards, stuffed animals. So many cute things to look at for different occasions. Not too pricey either...depending on what you are looking for. I had great customer service from Rose who was such a sweetheart. She was very helpful and knowledgeable of their products. I was in and out very quickly. A smile goes a long way! I enjoy coming here. read more

Stated I could buy their annual Christmas stuff musical animal for $19.99 with purchase. When I got to the store was told I had to buy 3 cards or it was $32.99. Didn't need ANY cards, brought 3 $.99 cards (cheapest) to get the discount. Ripe them in half after I paid for them. Bought 2 series ornaments for $29.00. Would have bought 2 more series I collection, but after the cards decided not. Have 4 series and every stuff animal they've issued. Last year for these traditions. read more

Always a very friendly staff. I usually only go here once a year, to get ornaments at Christmas time, and always see new faces, but they make a point of treating everyone like family. Some Hallmarks are just about making the sale, but employees here ask how you're doing and have an actual conversation with you. I started coming to this Hallmark Card shop this year. Today, there were 3 employees talking loudly and telling stories around the register. After I paid, I stood there waiting for the cashier to give me my paid merchandise but they kept talking amongst themselves and it was happening as this cashier was holding on to my item. Finally, I got my purchased item with no thank you since they were still laughing at their stories. Then, halfway to the door I heard a "thank you" behind my back but that's after I said "Thank You" after I got handed my merchandise. What a rotten bunch. The last time I was there, the cashier handed me the card I bought with no acknowledgement or thank you. This store looks like they want your business but they don't want to see you again. I'll definitely go somewhere else for greeting cards next time. And I can even buy greeting cards at the 99 cent only store for 99 cents! Oh by the way, they have this usual question of do you have a rewards card. This time I asked what is it good for. This cashier was definitely discouraging me from applying for one because her response was that I really have to be coming to the store at least 3 or 4 times a week for it to be worth my time. I normally don't write too many Yelp reviews but given I couldn't actually get a manager on the phone (I was told she wouldn't be in until Monday - today is Tuesday) decided to write a review of my recent visit. This is my second time visiting this store within the last month and both times were disappointing. However, today I am just downright angry. Having conversations on the floor in front of customers is just plain rude and should be saved for a break or outside the store. A certain actress from Star Wars passed away recently and of course everyone is talking about it. But this particular employee went further to say 'she had it coming.' WHO SAYS THAT? I made the mistake of buying an ornament and discover my wife had brought the same ornament already & given it to the same person. She tried to return it at same store she bought it at. She was told I had to return it at the original store. I went 2 days after purchase. They refused to return. I buy 5 to 6 ornaments each Christmas, cards and for the last 14 years their electronic stuffed animals. This is the last Hallmark product I will ever purchase.
