Great spot for a burger and a beer. Ordered at the counter and got food pretty quickly. Decent beer selection too.

    Yes, it's glorious.

Best burger I've ever had, hands down. Awesome staff and relaxed ambiance. I take my family from several towns over to come here, grab a beer, and enjoy the manliest burger in existence: the Big Ed. Don't listen to the weenie on here who's big mad because he didn't look at the hours of operation. This place is one-of-a-kind.

Definitely a must try if you're passing through town. We stopped in for quick bite to eat and we weren't disappointed. Staff is very inviting, the place was packed with customers young and old which made the environment feel family friendly. Mac and cheese bites are absolutely to die for they're perfectly ooey-gooey. I had the bacon cheddar burger with red onions added and the temperature of the burger was cooked to perfection. Fries were also superb. My fiancé had the cardiac trail, it genuinely looked like the juiciest burger I've seen. We also ordered a few shakes, they weren't my personal favorite only because the chocolate shake tasted like Hershey syrup added to vanilla ice cream BUT the fiancé loved it so it all depends on tastebuds.

Great local place for burgers and micro's, If you feel adventurous try the Auburn City Fire chili cheese burger with smoked ghost pepper cheese, to die for!

After a morning hike in Colfax, California, we found ourselves absolutely starving for a satisfying burger. That's when we stumbled upon Local Heroes in Auburn--and we were lucky enough to walk right up to the counter without a wait. The restaurant was clean and modern and we had no issues finding a seat. We went for the California Burger, topped with pepper jack cheese, crispy bacon, and avocado. It was, without a doubt, fantastic--juicy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Being a fan of fried pickles, I couldn't resist ordering a small order, along with a side of onion rings. Both were crispy, hot, and the perfect accompaniment to our burgers. The service was quick, and everything was served fresh and delicious. If you're ever in the area and craving a top-notch burger or simply a great variety of options, Local Heroes is definitely worth a visit. Plus, they've got a selection of local beers on draft, so you can enjoy a cold one to pair with your meal. Highly recommended!

Local Hereos, located in downtown Auburn, CA has achieved quite a reputation among the area locals for serving some of the best burgers in Placer County. The Auburn area is a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts, so the word of the delicious burgers has spread to the Bay Area, Sacramento and beyond... Local Heroes has derived the name from local heroes, including first responders and military personnel. As I served in the U.S. Navy, I received a 10% discount on my order, as it happens with all military and first responders. I didn't even have to show my V.A. card as I was granted the discount without question. No, I'm not a "local hero," as I'm a simple enlisted sailor that simply did my duty and was discharged with full military honors. As you enter the main dining room, you walk up to the counter, grab a menu, make your selection, and pay for your order. They will ask your name, and when you're order is ready, they'll call your name and you'll pick up your order. The main dining room is sparsely decorated, as it's mostly tile floor, pine waistcoating and white painted walls. The furniture is simple tables... hey... this is a restaurant that specializes in hamburgers, so there is nothing fancy! The layout of the restaurant is interesting, as it's divided into two sections, with the open kitchen and the order counter in the middle. You enter the restaurant through the main dining room, which is spartan and pretty much like any other diner that specializes in burger, but past the order counter, you enter another room that features a small beer bar, with beer on tap, high tables, and a sports bar-like atmosphere. There is also an extra order pick-up window, along with a giant container of ketchup with a pump, so you can fill little cups full of ketchup for your burger - if that's your interest - or to dip your fries into. From the "Burgers" section of the menu, I went with a "Villian Triple," along with a large order of fries. Triple beef patties? Of course! The menu describes the delicious "Villian Triple" as, "100% lean Angus beef patty, crisp lettuce, tomato, red onion and our house sauce served on a fresh Brioche bun with a pickle wedge on the side." Along with the burger, I ordered a large side of fries. There were many options that I could have adorned my burger with - for extra cost - such as cheese, avocado, bacon and mushrooms. Today, I simply looked forward to a delicious, "old school" hamburger and fries, and that's what I enjoyed. The "Villian Triple" will satisfy the appetite of a lumberjack or a NFL linebacker as it has THREE one-third pound beef patties, so do the math, and it adds up to THREE QUARTER POUND of 100& lean Angus beef! Where's the beer? ... it's here! The beef is grilled to medium, but if that's not in your interest, just ask and the accommodating staff will grill the beef to your specification. Burgers cooked medium works in my direction, and my three beef patties were seasoned, juicy, and were perfectly grilled to medium perfection. Did I mention three?... Yes, I enjoyed a whopping triple hamburger on this late Thursday morning. A hamburger is all about the meat, but to be complete, the burger must have a good bun that tastes great, you can hold in your hand, and supports and enhances the burger. No surprise, as my burger was wrapped around a fresh, slightly toasted Brioche bun, which held things together and made the burger experience supremely delicious. Fresh lettuce, tomato and red onion added to the deliciousness of this burger. I noted the meat and bun were hot and the lettuce, tomato and onion were chilled, which adds an extra taste dimension to an outstanding hamburger. The fresh, chilled slice of dill pickle on the side added a bonus and a taste sensation. I must add the bun, along with the meat, was basted in "house sauce," which was simply a variation of "Thousand Island Dressing." Actually, that is a compliment, as the sauce made this for a juicy, all-you-can-napkin "old school" burger experience, which is what I love. ketchup... mustard... dill pickle relish... simply were not needed, as this burger was standalone delicious. In my "burger opinion" you can enjoy a burger without a side, so I ordered a large side of "Fries," which complimented my "Villian Triple" in every way, including a small cup or two for dipping. The fries were cut thinly, and to my delight, the fries included potato skin! Yowza! The fries were deep fried to a medium golden brown on the outside, and were tender and juicy inside. What really made me smile is the fries were perfectly seasoned, and not salty, oily or mushy. Complete with the potato skins, the fries served at Local Heroes were perfect and made for an excellent side dish. Five Star Dining in downtown Auburn!

BURGERS, RINGS, & SHAKE! Yes please! Insanely good burgers, the staff is on another level of awesome. I had to finally post, every time we go the staff is happy, getting along and working hard. Cool outdoor seating is cozy with a small bar. One of our local favs for sure.

It had a touch of spice and was garnished with celery, a green olive, a spicy green bean, pepperchini, a lime, and a pearl onion. For lunch, we decided to order of the weekend specials menu! I ordered the Carnitas & chorizo Huevos Stack and she ordered the Chicken Fried Steak Dip... service was good. While we waited for our food, my client had to use the restroom twice. From where we were sat, it was quite a long walk, but it was an accessible ramp she was able to use since she has a cane. The steps would've been too much for her. When our meals arrived... both were stunning. My huevos Stack was not all it was cracked up to be. Although they had great crispy tortillas underneath, it had a lot of other soft foods on it that didn't give it much texture. Refried beans, over medium eggs, pico de gallo, red enchilada sauce, and not much meat on it to go around the plate to even it out. Dianne's Country Fried Steak Dip looked and tasted like it was created by someone that knows their breakfasts! Between 2 slices of parmesan toasted bread, there was a thin country fried steak, with over medium eggs, cheese, and BACON!!! And a side of gravy to dip into. That was a million times better than the huevos Stack! So I politely asked our server if I could switch to that special. She got the order in right away and it was out fast. Every bite had the perfect amount of flavor and their sausage gravy tasted insanely good! Both my client and I went home worth half of our meal. She was so happy and it melted my heart that I helped her have an amazing birthday. With the help of Awful Annie's, they helped her birthday become a home run!!! Delicious bloody Mary's, double delicious on our Country Fried Steak Dips, and fine service from the best in town! Thank you Awful Annie's!!

But stuff isn't viral online for no reason.. the Dutch apple pie was incredible. Perfect even. Not too sweet apples perfectly tart. I also got a Peruvian marinated whole chicken, marinated hangar steak and lemon pepper marinated chicken thighs. Meats are vacuumed packed and are easy dinner options. We were in the area of Auburn coming back from a Father's Day weekend trip, and I was looking for a few easy meals to have in the fridge for the rest of the week. It was busy! But plenty of staff on hand to help move everything along. I suggest having one person wait in the car and sending one person in to stealthy acquire the goods. Also they offered me a bag of ice to keep my meats fresh for the ride. Fabulous touch. Don't be scared of the crowds and new found popularity. Go in and grab a pie and more! I love pie & was on a mission to try theirs. We stopped by on the Friday afternoon after they got recognized. The parking lot was packed. There is a lot of covered outdoor seating, but it was also pretty filled up. The market was busy & bustling with customers & staff going to & fro. A hamburger restaurant adjoins the market with some indoor seating. You can enter & exit either door to get to both areas. The doors directly to the market only had one you could open because the other door was obscured with a display & it caused such a traffic jam to get in & out. The supply of pies/cobblers & variety was plentiful. They have fruit pies as well as cream pies in whole, sliced, fresh, & frozen form. NOTE--you can find whole pies (fresh or frozen) in the market, & packaged individual slices in the restaurant. The market also has lots of produce, dips & sauces, dressings, pickled items, wine, other baked goods, honey, snacks, store branded merchandise, & lots more! Samples of products were out & available to try, like fruit, dips, & granola. The circumstances of the award created an understandable commotion that took a little charm away from the shopping experience. The market has so many neat items to browse, but it has narrow aisles & it was hard to look around comfortably & not feel in the way because of the flurry of activity. I even heard audible disdain from another customer (my sense is a local or regular) about everyone being there because of the award. Customer service was fine. Staffers seemed busy & didn't welcome or proactively acknowledge customers. We were able to find someone who was helpful with a question we had. Checkout was straightforward with staff trying to keep the line moving. Back to the pie mission! Peach Pie--delightful fresh peach taste, the least sweet of the 3 Razzleberry Pie--really delicious berry packed flavor payoff Strawberry Rhubarb Cobbler--this is my favorite kind of fruit pie & their very tasty execution stood out because the rhubarb was really present in big tart chunks, (also the fruit & veg combo practically makes this a health food, right??) My verdict-- My ideal pie is a combo of yummy filling & a great flaky, buttery crust. While the fillings were bursting with amazing fruitiness, the crust brought nothing to the table & was just bland & meh. I prefer the cobbler version because the dough brought some sweetness & flavor. We also got a loaf of coffee cake. It tasted fine, but felt like it was basically a simply flavored cake with some streusel topping that had bits of walnut & barely any detectable cinnamon. I would go back again down the road on an obscure weekday to try to experience a less busy time to shop more items. The pie fillings I tried were spectacular, & despite the mediocre crust, I would happily have more.
