This review is for the visit we did in mid-July (I know it's too late and may not count !) .This was maiden visit with family to watch FIFA world cup final event and we were happy to be there. The ambiance is unique, hip and trendy with feel of like a pub in midtown Atlanta. Being part of the strip their front is all glass with lot of light coming in for daytime which works against the pub feel from my point of view. Besides there are limitations to innovation in seating due to small area optimized for maximum tables. Lot's of TV screens for sports fans! Food and drinks are great. We had Pimento Cheese Dip, fried basket, Fried artichoke and Veggie sandwich. The overall taste and menu profile is catered towards young, hip and sports fan crowd. What's surprising about Local 7 is that food is very good for a bar that majors tvs and booze with some food thrown in. That's where the good stuff ends. I really don't understand that you order anything in the form of food, and the server asks if you want a side which normally comes with your sandwich. So far that makes sense. What doesn't make sense, is that you would be under the assumption that the side is no charge. This is certainly not the case at Local 7. If you want horseradish with your French dip, there is a tiny cup that comes with it, but they charge $0.50 for it. If you want a special sauce that would normally come your fish sandwich, there is an charge for that sauce. What they don't tell you when you order anything that has a side dish with it, there is an upcharge. There are a lot of bar type restaurants out that give you the side at no additional charge, but Local 7 isn't one of them. So when you come to Local 7, be prepared to bring extra money as I am not surprised if the charge you for the free glass of water, but charge you for the ice. read more

I wanted to like this place after it was recommended, but I was extremely disappointed. I support local businesses but won't be supporting this place. Came on a Friday and ordered a bacon egg burger. I ordered it medium, it came burned/charred. Sent it back and they made a new one the exact same, burned/charred. The service was extremely slow As well. This was truly an awful experience. On 7Feb13, my wife took both my daughter and myself to this restaurant. The atmosphere was your typical bar atmosphere with a small flare into the alcoholic drinks, i.e., Fat Tire beer illustrated by an old hanging bike and several other "beer related" props. The TVs and beer selections are fantastic and should contribute to a good draw for sports events. My only issue was the food. I got the Cuban sandwich. My wife got the Reuben and my daughter got the hot dog. The Cuban sandwich was horrible and actually the furthest thing from a Cuban sandwich. It was extremely small, bland, did not contain the ingredients necessary to be deemed a CUBAN SANDWICH. The same was true for my wife's REUBEN. If you want a REUBEN....go to the BLUE RIBBON GRILL on Lavista (absolutely excellent). My daughter's hot dog was not desirable. The hot dog was of very cheap quality (i.e., red dye number 2) and not what you would expect paying $5.00 a plate. According to other reviews, we probably should have stuck with the burgers. If you like beer (though expensive at $5.50/pint), HD TV and only burgers, this will be a great place for you. But as a warning, unless something changes and they either get a new cook or invest in better ingredients, stay away from the CUBAN and REUBEN and probably other sandwiches. We will not be going back. The establishment is too expensive ($40 for a family of three) and the food is of bad quality. read more

Decided to give this place a try since we were in the area. We tried the "Award Winning Chili" but it didn't really live up to the hype - there was no texture variety or bold flavors. The patty melt was solid although it probably could have used a little more seasoning and a better sear on the patty. Sweet potato fries were pretty good. This is a great local spot with stellar service! My party of nine came for dinner Friday night and with with limited space, they coordinated so that we could be seated together even if some of party arrived late. The tater-tots were the perfect balance of crunchy and soft, but were a little plain in my opinion, some extra spices might add more to these already great tots. I got the Veggie Melt, which was presented beautifully and had all the ingredients I typically love on a veggie sandwich (roasted veggies, tomatoes, cheese and arugula), but the bread wasn't toasted and the contents of my sandwich weren't warm when I was served. Their Raspberry Lemonade cocktail was sweet and delicious, not too strong so I wasn't even buzzed after eating my food. read more

This is a cool restaurant in the downtown Tucker area. The bar has plenty of seating and a decent selection of beer and liquor. They have a few tvs on the walls by the bar and some near the dining area. They have a patio on the side of the restaurant with outdoor seating. There's also additional parking behind the building. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich with tator toys and the fish and chips. The pulled pork sandwich didn't have as much meat on it as I expected and there was a drizzle of BBQ sauce on top of it. This was sandwiched between two slices of Texas toast. The fried fish was pretty good. read more

Local 7 is a small restaurant on the Main Street of Tucker. They serve up burgers, wings, hotdogs, wraps, sandwiches, and other classic bar foods. They also have a full bar with a fun cocktail list. Their rotational tap is a highlight for me, featuring local beers and various other craft beer selections. Recently they had an option from Birds Fly South, a small Brewery in Greenville, SC (where I went to college - so anything from Greenville is near and dear to my heart). I digress. The location, next to a functional train track, adds to the appeal. Parking is not the easiest as it is on Main Street, but there is a lot across the street you can use as well. This restaurant is all about community. To say that, I would not drive from far out to come here. I love the fried jalapeño appetizer with chipotle ranch dipping sauce. Buffalo Cauliflower tacos are also two thumbs up in my book. The cauliflower is fried to perfection, light and crispy, then coated in wing sauce. Mmmm mmmm. My hubs likes the Cannon Ball Express burger featuring jalapeños, cheese, and local 7 sauce. If you like SPICY, they have "effin hot wings," and lord have mercy they aren't lying. I ate one and thought my lips were going to melt right off my face. However, service here is not the fastest. Often during prime time you have to wait for a table....then for your server.....then for your food. If you are not in a rush, this place is "Tucker" and a good hang out spot. read more

I first took notice of this place during the Main Street Tucker festival. I am glad the Main Street Tucker area finally has a bona-fide bar & grill / tavern. There is a lot to like about Local 7. The management, kitchen staff, bartenders and wait staff are experienced and have worked at / managed cool popular places in Decatur, Little Five Points and Virginia-Highlands. But the place has not hit critical mass on the success meter just yet. But I like what I see so far. The folks running the joint should know how to cultivate and maintain a winning formula. I like the cool location next to the railroad tracks. Love it when the train rolls by. Burger with a side of tots is awesome here; I did not have the kitchen timing problem some others have mentioned. Burger and tots were cooked to perfection.I tried the Cannonball Express Burger with jalapeno peppers, jack cheese and special sauce. Chased it down with a Guinness and then a SweetWater IPA. Someday I plan on consuming the seven-patty John Henry Burger. Perhaps I will do it In one sitting and then chase it down with a couple of beers. I heard the Brunswick Stew is excellent. I will try it and update my review accordingly afterwards. Looking forward to good things here in the future and better reviews from others. read more

"New Tucker restaurant sells the sizzle, fails on everything else" The Local No. 7 has all the right parts to plant a permanent flag in the burgeoning downtown Tucker revival, but unfortunately, it will turn into just another crappy dive bar unless they get their act together. I've given this place 5 shots now to get it right, and each time it has let me down. I am done paying for shoddy service and food that is completely hit-or-miss, with a decidedly pronounced slant towards "miss". As a Tucker homeowner, I would love nothing more than to see this place succeed and become a landmark in the community. Instead, I am looking forward to the next restaurant to assume the space currently occupied by the Local No. 7. The restaurant itself is really nicely executed. Its always clean, and the decor is what you'd expect in what is billed as a gastropub that's a cut-above the norm. Parking is plentiful and easy to access, and the restaurant is nestled in a great location along Tuckers budding downtown main street. Before (or after) your meal, make sure to walk around a bit and wander in some of the other stores. There's a lot of "good" going on downtown. Walk in, and be seated. Then prepare to wait for 5-10 minutes until a waitress decides you're worthy of her attention. Last night, there were 6 people at the bar, and another 6 at tables. There were three servers working the restaurant. We waited 10 minutes to even be acknowledged. Once the menus were provided, our drink orders from their extensive beer list were taken, and then we sat for another 10 minutes until our beer was returned. So that's 20 minutes from the time we walked in before we even got our drinks. In a restaurant that was mostly empty. On the upshot, we were entertained by the colorful clientele seated at the bar. No eavesdropping necessary since they spoke loud enough to hear them over the train that passes by 50' from the porch. These folks may have been refugees from the recently torched Tucker dive-bar that burned to the ground a few months ago, but suffice to say, their vocabulary wasn't exactly extensive. Whenever they found themselves lacking for an adjective, inserting "F*&King", "Sh*tty", or both seemed to fit whatever tale they were spinning - and management did nothing to quell the river of loud profanity. Out of the 5 times I've been here, 4 of them consisted largely of the same experience with salty, decidedly NOT KID FRIENDLY language. Management - allowing this sort drunken debauchery doesn't do your establishment any favors. I'd expect this sort of thing after 8 or 9 on a weekend night, but at 6pm on a Sunday? "Image sells" folks. You're only going to be as acceptable to families as your clientele. Clean it up or you're doomed. "Ok, Dan, but what about the food?" you ask. I've had the French dip, the reuben, the patty melt, a burger, and the ribs. With the exception of the ribs, everything else was typical 'bar food', which means "marginal at best". If you're looking for gastropub level food, go elsewhere. This place has nothing on other places like Twains or the Marlay in Decatur. The ribs were a mixed bag. I ordered a half-rack on one of the nights they made them. Half of them were as dry and chewy as beef jerky, and the other half were actually quite good. Shame they can't cook a meal correctly that they only serve once a week... Midway through gnawing on my ribs, my water ran out and my beer was half gone. I'd have loved another one of each, but my waitress found something better to do because I never actually saw her again. By the end of the meal, both cups were dry and I had to flag down the bartender to even be noticed. "More beer?" she asked? "No, we're done here. Check please" I replied. My husband and I were pretty excited that a real bar finally opened on Main Street. Main Street in Tucker has potential to be really cute, it's just not there yet. We went to Local No. 7 on a Monday. There were a lot of people, but we didn't have to wait. It was an interesting mix of people - there were some tattooed hipsters, some older people that probably have lived in Tucker for 40 years and some families with young kids. They had just opened the previous weekend and seemed to be out of a lot of beers, but we gave them a pass since they had literally opened their doors days before. Our server was friendly and attentive. We started out with the hummus. I'm a huge hummus fan and I have to say that the hummus here was pretty top notch. It came with pita and veggies. The menu is pretty good with lots of different options including a whole build your own burger menu. We became fans and went back the following weekend. And that's when things went dowhill. The place was packed. They told us that there would be a wait and that was fine. When we got a table, I made the mistake of ordering wine. Now, I'm not a wine snob by any means, but whatever they served me tasted like windex. Our food took a very long time coming out and although our server warned us that they were backed up in the kitchen, he pretty much ignored us until our food came out. He never stopped by or asked if we needed more drinks or anything like that which was annoying. This time, I got the black bean burger, which was okay, nothing great. Meh. I wanted to love this place, I really did. I think they are probably just having some growing pains and will get better. I hope that they'll get some decent wine though! read more

The menu has some kitschy Tucker facts including the number seven so after a while of dealing with a low-talker bartender, watching the owner/manager and most of the staff hanging out in a booth by the kitchen, we started adding our own kitschy facts. "7, the number of customers at Local 7." "Local 7 has 7 employees doing absolutely nothing." ...and so forth. Made for some good laughs. Here's seven more fun facts about Local 7: The most prominent item in view in the kitchen is the microwave. Ugh. They employ a waiter that looks like Fu Manchu. Seriously, make him shave that nasty scraggly chin hair. If I got Fu Manchu as my waiter, I would ask for another server. If one of those hairs got into my food I would vomit. The prices for booze are too high. To get regulars you really need to have something on the menu that is more affordable. The view into the kitchen from the hall to the restroom will make you not want to eat here. Who the heck is "Little John" and all the rest of the people with burgers named after them? I was so looking forward to a revival of Tucker downtown's scene. But this place isn't going to be around very long. It has no edge and doesn't to want to be anything. Is it a bar? - No, not really. They have some liquor and some beers, but neither do they specialize on liquor drinks nor do they have a very wide or defined beer selection. Are they a family joint? Nope, not really. Are they specialized on a specific type of food? Nope. They got some sandwiches and Fish 'n Chips and all the standard fare. They mostly use standard SYSCO or Restaurant Depot stuff, like tots and fries, etc. Burgers are standard industrial patties. For god's sake, even Five Guys does those better. Don't get me wrong. The food is okay. It's not bad, but it's not that good either. Just average. Nothing stands out in this place. It's "Local Mediocre". Food, drink and service - Nothing sticks out. At least the "Grove" knows it is a bar and they have the liquor and the bar food to back it up. A lot is home made on top of it. Really good bar food. That sticks out. "Napoleon's" knows it is a foodie bar. They also back it up with some fare that stands out and you can't find everywhere else. On top of it, they have a drink selection that knows what it wants. Of course there is Applebee's, which is like Local 7, but with more bandwidth on both food and drinks. I just don't get that concept. Why would you invest hard earned money into a restaurant and then not stand for something? Trying to hedge in a bad economy? You went for a concept that clearly aims at the broadest audience. That audience, unfortunately, just has plenty to pick from. Dare to stick out and stand for something. It's better to have a smaller pool of people that's loyal. I wrote a five star review for this place after it opened. It seemed like a great new addition to the area that badly needed something like this. We've been going back at least once a month since it opened. And the service has gotten to a point where I wonder if they are trying to antagonize people. And it's not new servers - it's bartenders / managers / veterans of this place that seem to Make a sport of bad service to patrons wanting to spend money there. I really wanted to like this place. I love the location in downtown Tucker, right beside the railroad tracks. And the interior has a very trendy feel with brick walls and concrete floors. But the food and service were the downside to our dinner at this new establishment. First, our server was very sweet although perhaps too quiet . . . and aloof. We saw her very rarely during the meal, resulting in drinks that badly needed refills. And it took 45 minutes for the food to arrive after we placed our orders. Yes, despite the restaurant being nearly empty on a Tuesday night, it took at least 45 minutes to receive our order. The menu warned that customers should expect to wait the appropriate time for burgers, but unless the cow was freshly slaughtered behind the restaurant, this seemed excessive. And when the food did arrive, I think only my husband truly enjoyed his meal, which was the Little John burger (two pieces of bacon, white cheddar cheese and a fried egg). I did not enjoy my chicken salad sandwich (roasted chicken, diced celery, grapes, pecans, red onion, pickles, mayo and a dash of mustard). Any time I bite into a huge chunk of fat on chicken, it's pretty much game over. And the ciabatta bread it was served on had not been toasted, so that was disappointing. To top it off, the tots on the side were barely toasted. After 45 minutes, you'd think the tots would have at least been well cooked. Finally, my grandmother was not pleased with her Rueben sandwich (thin sliced corned beef piled high with sauerkraut and Russian dressing) because it barely contained any saurkraut and the amount of meat made it impossible to consume without taking the sandwich apart. Okay, good things first: The Soda Pop Cocktails (specifically the Creamfizzle). I can't stay away. They're a little expensive for my budget, but I indulge myself every time because they are. that. good. Hello Cornhole! Now that the weather is finally perking up all I want to do is be outside. Local 7's patio is the perfect place to fulfill this fantasy. Partly because it has benches that move (for optimal tanning) and huge umbrellas (to avoid a heat stroke). But mostly I love the fact that I can play my favorite mindless summer game, cornhole. Stacey (I'm pretty sure), the blonde bartender is wonderful. She's attentive, has a great memory, good timing, AND has real, full-on conversations with us every time we're there. We like her so much that I actually don't know much about the rest of the staff. Oops. The sweet potato fries. Hubba hubba, swoon-tastic, be still my beating heart. They're light and fluffy, but have a great crisp on the outside. The half&half basket (pickles & jalapeños) is gosh darn good as well. I can't decide if I'm up or down about this, but...the proximity of the train tracks. Woo woo shots (even though they make me cringe) are a plus, but halting our conversations every 20 minutes to wait for a particularly large or loud train to pass by sometimes puts a bit of a damper on our meal. I'm leaving it in the positive section because there's obviously nothing they can do about this one. Downsides: They seem have a hard time handling some of their weekend nights. We tend to stick to early weekday dinners or oddly-timed weekend lunches because we've had such a hard time getting good service on the weekends. The last time we attempted a Friday date night it took my boyfriend more than 4 attempts to get a beer refill & many more than that to actually put in a food order or get a check. The servers are still decent, just overwhelmed? Understaffed? Sad they're working on a weekend night? Beware, this next part is definitely snobby. I know this, I admit it, I sort of apologize. But I'm a total burger fanatic & I'm incredibly picky about the way my beef is cooked. I am a firm believer in the fact that the temperature of certain beef can change the entire taste of the meal. Since I already know how annoying I am about this (obviously), when I ordered the Hawaiian style burger I tried to make it as clear as possible to our server how I wanted it cooked. Sadly, my "warm pink center" ended up thoroughly well done and cooked until it was tasteless. It's hard to convey how disappointed I was. I think I'll stick with my BLT&A's from now on. My roommate and I have decided to make this out new spot. It's got good food and decent beer prices so that's all we need. Local 7 is located right in downtown Tucker on Main St. We didn't have to wait long at all for a server and when she did come over she was friendly and helpful. She also brought our food out quickly, which was great because we were starving! I ordered the Little John Burger with chicken instead of beef. It was delicious and super filling because of all the protein on it (two pieces of bacon and a fried egg). I barely finished it. I got tater tots as a side and they were great too. I want to go back today to get another burger for real... so good! We also ordered beer: Abita Purple Haze. It tasted like raspberry paradise and was under $5. read more

Solid 3 stars for Local 7. I love this place for being a "what you see is what you get" type of pub. I am a Tucker resident happy to have a place other than Applebee's to get a draught beer and tasty food. It wouldn't hurt to have another place or two like this in close proximity to offer a bit of competition-- The patrons always benefit from that. Nice offering of burgers, sandwiches and other pub staples. The tots are a no-brainer choice every time I've been. They aren't going to win any awards with their food, but it is always consistent. The servers are friendly in my experiences, but I've noticed thing get a little on the slow side. The place looks great and is in a great location, it's just not running on all cylinders. While just sitting at the bar having a few drinks, I noticed a server that looked a tad creepy and constantly stroked his wispy goatee. Nooooope, probably wouldn't order food from that guy. Our bartender was bored, boring, and obviously didn't have much work to do as we were some of the few people at the bar during the afternoon. Drinks were a little expensive, the beer selection was poor ( although pretty good for Tucker), and it was painfully obvious that this place doesn't know much about beer or are in a distributors pocket. Menu is boring from the look of it and just doesn't grab your attention with anything. I have'nt eaten here, although the first time i was here i tried to order some food but had to cancel it because it was taking so long. It was pretty soon after they opened and they were very busy, so the food might be good, I don't know. Doesn't seem like a chef is guiding the kitchen. A few changes in staff and menu and you could be sitting on a gold mine. Not trying to be all negative, but I'm not sure what would bring me back to this place. Been here twice, I'm good. read more

Stopped by with the wife and little man on a Friday night around 5:30-6pm and within 30 minutes the place was packed (good indication that people have been wanting something like this in the Tucker area for a LONG time). Menu was pretty simple - starters, burgers, and sandwiches. The had a small kids menu with standard kids fare - mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, burgers, etc. Wife had the black bean burger and she reported good things. I ordered a burger with cheddar and bacon. Bacon was thick cut and delicious. We also got a side of green beans which were super fresh and crunchy - not mushy like out of a can or frozen. They had Sweetwater IPA on draft which is always a plus. Service: She was attentive but not overly so, especially for being newly opened (just over a week when we stopped in) and the owner stopped by to talk to each table thanking everyone for coming. No issues here. Strengths: Love the exposed brick and the tie in with the rail road theme. With the location, there's nothing you can do about the trains and the noise so they embraced it. Even the kids menus had trains the little ones could color. LOVE the exposed brick and the set up of the bar area. They also have outdoor seating and as the first reviewer said a garage door they can open when the weather allows. Improvements: The kitchen was a little slow, but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on what may have been their first real busy night being open. My burger was a little over cooked but despite that, the quality of the beef and flavor were still excellent. Would like to see more locals on draft - Terrapin, Wild Heaven, etc. but that's just the beer geek in me. Overall, we had a good experience and we'll be back. read more

I like this place. I read some of the negative reviews, as I usually tend to do, to get a feel for the whole spectrum of feedback. I can honestly say that I've not had the negative experiences that some report. I find their food good. Not outstanding, but pretty darn good. I've had a number of items on the menu, but tend to gravitate towards the "bar" food when I'm there, i.e. hamburgers, etc. I love the ambiance of the place, and being that I live locally to it, I to go a good bit. I've yet to have a meal that I didn't enjoy. The Fish and Chips can be a little hit or miss, but not on taste, more on portion. Loved this place! They got us in and out in time for a show. Pork wings and and sliders (yes I ordered 2 whole meals) were awesome! Especially the vinegar mustard sauce. Burger my date had was bangin too! read more
