This counter service Vietnamese restaurant was a lot bigger than we expected, and it was surprisingly empty during dinner time. The vibes were nice inside. I got the chicken pho, and it was alright. I felt like the amount of noodles was small. The banh mi fries were okay and had an interesting taste, but the pork was so hard and did not taste very good. The prices are reasonable, so if you're in the area, it's an okay place for a basic pho. However, I was a bit let down. The chicken pho had a small portion of both meat and noodles, and the toppings--like Thai basil and bean sprouts--were really sparse. The broth was also too sweet and had a strong anise flavor. I bought the tofu spring rolls and it was fresh on the inside but the wrapper was hard instead of soft as it should be. The pho soup was pretty good but it didn't have an equal balance of chicken and noodle. My sister bought a chicken pho as well but she had too much chicken. She also purchased the fried egg rolls and the it did not have a taste to it. It was bland. The service was not great either. The workers did not want to help you and seemed bothered. Omg! This is the most horrible Vietnamese food ever. I can't even imagine how they got these 4 star reviews. Service was fair. Beautiful well appointed interiors and very clean. But the biggest problem was the food. We ordered the pork vermicelli and was so disappointed. The pork wasn't seasoned at all and it was very tough and dry. The sauce lacked proper seasoning. Although this place provided various condiments on the table the dish should have already have the Vietnamese taste. The pork should have been barbecued with Vietnamese seasonings. The spring rolls were a very dark color and we were told they were fresh. We decided to cancel that order and got fried egg rolls instead. Unfortunately they too were very bland. My husband and I first went to Local Pho when it opened and have gotten it to go a few times! We were craving pho after attending such a fun wedding, so went to Local Pho since we knew parking is never an issue and they are pretty fast. We got the combination pho, egg rolls and grilled pork banh mi to share. Food came out within less than 10 minutes and was hot and steaming. Grilled Banh Mi was good. Definitely could have had a little more grilled pork inside, but was in a crispy baguette and veggies that gave a great crunch. Combination Pho: My husband likes sweet broth and this definitely was sweet and made to perfection. Full of flavor as well. It had well enough noodles/meat & was good for two people to share. Egg Rolls: We got 5 egg rolls and it came with a side of dipping sauce (fish sauce I think). They were hot, super crispy and filled with savory filling. Definitely enjoyed these. Price is a little high for your average pho, but it was nice to not have to fight for parking and be able to get our meals quickly. Service was super efficient too! read more

I ordered 2 meatball pho with fried tofu added as well as the banh mi fries with a fried egg. The broth in the pho was good, the meatballs were plentiful. The banh mi fries were like a deconstructed banh mi with fries, the bf liked them. Price point was a bit on the high side, plus they forgot my vietnamese coffee. Can't say I'd be in a rush to come back as there are other good pho places that don't cost as much. read more

Not bad. Doesn't seem to be Asian owned but they provided surprisingly traditional flavorful Vietnamese food. Located in a plaza, there were plenty of parking available. We ordered two bowls of pho and when brought out, they were a nice large size. My eye round steak was cooked a little too long. Might have been easier if the eye round steak was rare on the side. After tip/tax, it ended up being around $30. Pho was sad. Very small portion for price. Broth was not flavorful at all. Noodles were mushy. Meat was okay. I asked for extra lime and basil in my order which I did not receive. Bag of toppings include bean sprouts, one small lime wedge, and little basil. Egg rolls were good. Just like the pho, the service is also sad! No greetings when I walked in. Asked the girl working as the cashier for extra lime and basil since it was not in my order and was handed another premade bag of toppings. She also rolled her eyes when asked like it was that much of an inconvenience to grab a premade bag from the fridge. Sorry girl, maybe a restaurant job isn't for you if you can't give an ounce of customer service. For an outrageous $30, I would expect better quality and service. Pretty good broth - and it comes in a large bowl. I was, however, disappointed in the amount of chicken in the broth. I think for almost $12 a bowl of chicken pho you would expect a little bit more than what I got. They also have rice bowls, noodle bowls and banh mi which we didn't try this time. Service was ok - workers didn't really talk much. We didn't really get greeted and the girl that brought us our food didn't say anything to us. This was just OK. Vietnamese food is one of my top 3 favorite cuisines, so I jump at the chance to try new restaurants. Hungry after an appointment, I decided to give this place a try. I ordered the grilled pork Bahn MI and egg rolls on the side. The meat on the sandwich tasted old like they reheated old meat. Oddly enough, the bread was fresh, and the sandwich was large. The egg rolls were salty and really had no meat, supposed to be shrimp and pork. I'm not shocked at the price considering the area, ~$13 for everything. Overall, I'll give them a try again if nothing else to see if they are better at other things, especially because the location is close to where I frequent. We had been meaning to check this place out and finally made it here after our refrigerator broke and we lost a lot of our food! I really enjoyed my food, and I especially enjoyed the bubble tea I got, which I sadly forgot to take a picture of. I got the chicken pho soup (phở gà), which was yummy. They also brought us a plate of extras you could add to your soup (bean sprouts and one or two other things). My three-year-old loved absolutely loved his pork meatball banh mi and ate most of the insides of it out with a spoon. (Never seen anyone eat a sandwich with a spoon but now I have!) The vegetables on the sandwiches were crisp and fresh and the baguette holding these toppings was soft on the inside and chewy on the outside, as expected. Came in today and had vegetarian pho. I also ordered a Thai green tea. This is the first time I did not have to use hoisin sauce with my phone. With that being said, this did not taste like pho. I understand it's hard to mimic the true taste of pho without any bone marrow or spices, but I felt like I was just eating Vegetable soup. just soup, not pho. Also, super disappointed broccoli was a little sprig and not a few crowns. If they wanted to rebrand this as just vegetable soup, and not pho...it would be better. When I asked about the brisket, bánh mì, I thought they would use like barbecue brisket. But they're just using brisket they use for their pho. Which is flavourless in my opinion. The views here are gorgeous - you get the skyline of downtown Houston. The prices here probably reflect on location - between the Heights area and downtown. $9ish for a bowl of pork vermicelli is probably the most I've ever paid. A friend invited me out to lunch and while the food wasn't bad at all, it wasn't filling nor outstanding. The grilled pork in Vietnamese dishes tend to be more fatty but this one was definitely lean. The portion of noodles was tiny (gave plenty of veggies). My group had good things to say about their pho so maybe I should've gotten that instead. The atmosphere here was great - modern, clean, and had indoor/outdoor seating. If I were to come back I'd get the pho and see how that goes. To me the best Viet places are definitely in Chinatown, but not everyone has that convenience of going. read more

We love pho but it can be hard to find a place that does vegetarian pho that is flavorful. My mom and I walked past this place while in Sawyer Heights and decided to try it after reading the reviews. We shared the banh mi fries with tofu, the sauce and egg were so yummy with the crispy fries. My mom had chicken pho and she said it was great. I tried the vegan pho. What really stood out was how flavorful the broth was, it can be hard to find vegetarian pho broth that isn't bland. They put lots of fresh veggies in the soup too. I love Pho and really wanted to love this place, but it was just ok for me. I'll give you the location is awesome and has great views and a good atmosphere. However, it was just bland. I tried the fried egg rolls and they had a really odd taste to them. I'm not sure if it's the type of oil they were made in or what it could have been, but they just tasted weird. The pho broth I'll give you was good, I got the beef combo, but the noodles were bland and the meats were extremely fatty. I spit out a few big chunks of either fat or tendons. That was kinda gross..everything besides the broth was just not really up to par. It just was not a great experience. Also, the restroom toilet was clogged. I just wasn't very impressed.
