We come from the pizza greats of NY and NJ. This is a true Great wood-fired style pizza. It's SUPPOSED to be a little burnt. That's what makes it what it is- if you don't like wood-fired then get your garbage pizza at any other terrible pizza place. Everything! Our family ordered 5 small pizzas. Of the 5, two were burnt! One of those was impossible to even eat. We spoke to our server and were told that was normal because their ovens cook at 600 degrees. The restaurant made no effort to replace the pizza or give any kind of credit. We were in limbo in between meals after a big meal at Hickory Tavern. I didn't want to spoil my appetite for Guiseppi's for later in the week, and pizza was still on our mind this night. Safe to say nothing will beat the classic Guiseppi's. Local Pie is a serviceable option for pizza on the Island, but its inability to pack a memorable punch is its biggest flaw. The pepperoni isn't bad, I would say it's middle of the road pizza chain. As a wood fire joint, it's not the best I have had, and I would rather see what else is out there before I give it another shot. However, this is from a take-out point of view. Perhaps Local Pie is better served in the restaurant itself. I'm sure it wouldn't be as room temperature as it was at home, so I guess I would give it another shot. But I am not running back there next time I'm back in Hilton Head, that's for sure. read more

We got into town late on 11/23 and opted for pizza to feed everyone a quick meal. Close to $80 for two pizzas, delivery fees, taxes, & tip....so not cheap. The crust was burned black on both pizzas & the flavors weren't good. Honestly, any of the chain pizza restaurants would have been better. Totally not worth the money & you should definitely skip this place when making a dinner decision. The pizza didn't blow us away, but it was good. We had a margarita, a supreme, a make your own with caramelized onions, tomatoes and ricotta. We ordered 4 large for 8 people and had 1.5 left over after dinner. There was also a calzone. The wings were a little bit of a disappointment. Honestly the pizza was just okay. Maybe we came on a bad day? Both my wife and I agreed that something was missing on each pie that we ordered as everything just lacked flavor. Wow wow wow!!! The best food I've had on Hilton Head Island!!! We were leaving the beach and decided we wanted pizza. This place had 4.5 stars so we decided to try it. Boy oh boy did we hit the jackpot! Ordered takeout on the way out and by the time we arrived the food was ready. Great service! The atmosphere seemed fun but certainly not a dive. We never knew that garlic knots could be so soft, buttery and garlicky. The spinach dip deserves a food choice award...creamy, smooth, cheesy with big leaf spinach...licking my fingers right NOW! The pizza crust was chewy good with a buttery taste. Loved everything about this place. This will be my favorite eatery whenever I travel back to Hilton Head Island! read more

We were there during tropical storm debby and staffing was minimal due to flood risks etc. it wasn't crowded so it didn't affect our service. the pizza was very very good, near perfect. our server and bartender were wonderful. mother/ daughter team i believe. would definitely go back if in town again. read more

We arrived at 8:20 PM. The sign said open till 9. There was a twosome sitting waiting to be seated. The place had empty tables. The hostess arrived five minutes later and informed us that the chef said they weren't seating anyone else after the twosome since they we're running out of pizza dough. She immediately walked away without even asking if we wanted a pizza. We are locals. We won't be returning after such rude treatment and recommend that others choose a friendlier and more reliable pizza restaurant of which there are many on the island. read more

Went to Local Pie in HHI at 6 pm. Hostess was kind enough to seat us outside immediately, versus a 30 min wait for an indoor seat. After being seated, and given (by hostess) menus for the 3 of us, a bartender type person asked how many were in our party. I said "3." He promptly separated the table that was adjoining our table. Very impersonal. Almost like he was irritated that the hostess sat us at a setup that could accommodate a larger party. Then, we proceeded to wait, without any server asking us for our order, or even acknowledging our presence, for 10+ minutes. Waste of time. Left for Mello Mushroom; a place we'd already enjoyed twice this week. Yes, we are waiting for a spot; the place is packed, and doing a very brisk carry out business, too. But guess what, the wait is worth it. Won't waste time with Local Pie again. read more

The hotel we were staying at recommended this local pizza place, so we decided to check it out. Staff was very friendly and answered our questions quickly. Our food amd drinks were brought out in a timely manner. The wings were ok, they were off the happy hour menu. The sauce that was on it was good, just not enough on it. The pizzas were a good size, but were brought out separately, like 15 mins apart. The mushrooms pizza didn't have much mushrooms on it, which was a disappointment. No acknowledgment or apology from the manager who just came across as annoyed. Toppings on a "build your own " pizza were insulting! Look, I am no pizza officionato , but I was not impressed with this place. We called at 6:47PM on Saturday. They sounded busy so we were not surprised when they said 45 minutes to wait. When I got there at 7:25 there was open seating all over the place, both inside and out. My pizza was sitting in a warmer waiting for me even though I was early and it tasted poorly. My mistake was opting for the garlic olive oil sauce. It ran off the pizza and soaked into the cardboard box. I wasn't impressed with the House mozzarella, it never melted even when I reheated back at home. The Meatballs were very flavorful and I would order them again. They must not like anchovies because I order them but I could not find any on the pizza. The veggies we ordered were the caramelized onions & banana peppers. Pretty much out of the can and throw them on the pizza. It is suppose to be a "wood fired oven" so I know that the bottom will be "done" but it was not a wood fired taste. Not impressed. Started with the Local Ball meatball app - YUM, then had the Parma Princess and Little Bear pizzas and they were perfectly cooked in the amazing wood fired ovens. The homemade Marzano tomato sauce was delicious. Finished with the calzones... can't wait to go back! read more

This goes out to the visitors deciding between the pizza choices on the island. After repeated years of eating Giuseppe's Pizza we thought we would try something new. Nothing against Giuseppe's at all, FANTASTIC pizza, just thought we'd try a new place. The choices were Pizza Baby's, Dough Boys and Local Pie. We decided to ignore the reviews of the former two and be somewhat frugal with the advertised pickup specials of the latter. Bad choice. Went with the 2 medium pizzas for $16. Shame on us for overlooking the 10" measurement. The 10" is more like a Small which they don't sell. As my wife walked to the truck with both pizzas I noticed how small the two boxes were and thought there was a mixup. These were exactly like Celeste pizza for one from a Food Lion. Oh well you win some, you lose some. Definitely lost here. The warning here is for the poor saps who come in and sit in a booth and order two "Mediums", they'll be charged $24-$28 for the two, plus tax, plus gratuity because they don't get the $16 pickup special. So dear readers, you make the call. Us, we'll trust the reviews and try Pizza Baby's or Dough Boys next time. read more

Would not recommend them. The caprese salad had grocery store tomatoes that were hard as a rock. Dressing was good, but that's all I can say about it. The pizza(local marguerita) was, frankly, awful. Wings, Mac and Cheese and yes, that lovely Coal Oven Pizza. Do yourself a favor and dont pass on the Wings. Perfectly cooked and hot enough I could breath it in. Yum! We decided to give them a second chance, especially because we visited them during the pandemic and service was great. They now have more staff. Our server was very nice and sweet and gave us great recommendations. The place was almost full, with at least 3 tables with big groups (one of them probably about 20 people), but our food still came out pretty quickly and every tasted delicious. Don't sleep on Local Pie! HHI can be so busy with dinner reservations, but we walked into Local Pie and got seated right away. The staff here is so kind! They have an amazing local beer selection with beers from all over south carolina/the lowcountry and the server even let me sample a few before committing to my order. The pizza is delicious with quality dough and fresh, local ingredients. We had the baller, truffle, and margherita pizzas and seriously loved them all. Also a great place with kids- they give them pizza dough to play with when you get seated. We love this place! read more
