We had a great experience here for dinner. We were just driving the area looking for a new place to try when we found it. A rare place on Henderson that is good and actually has parking available. So, we tried it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Walking in we were taken back by the open-spacious feel of the place. They have a lot of woods used throughout, which gave the place a nice earthy feel[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The service was really good. While we had a person who introduced herself as our server, this place seems to work on a team concept. We had no less than 4 servers throughout the course of our visit. It worked fabulously. We ordered and shared the Fully Loaded Crispy Potatoes , for our appetizer. They were amazing and I would come back tomorrow for more! For our main course we had the Seared Chicken. Think Chicken Breast in a Siracha Butter Sauce atop a Corn & Potato Croquet. It was literally OMG! I can't wait to come back!

Last minute decision for an early Sunday dinner and this restaurant did not disappoint. We started with the loaded crispy potatoes then for our entrees we had the burger and peanut satay noodle salad. We opted for the side Caesar instead of fries with the burger and glad we did. The salad was delicious, and honestly not sure fries could be better than those amazing crispy loaded potatoes! My satay noodle salad was perfection, the flavors were bold and balanced. I will certainly go back and order this again. Although as we watched other tables get their food, everything looked delicious so maybe next time we may try that gorgeous pizza or eye popping wings! Don't sleep on the bar, the drinks were equally as good!

When going tk a new restaurant, I always ask what's the best thing in the menu. I was told the crispy loaded potatoes and the seared chicken - so that's what I ordered. Both were so, so delicious! There a hint of heat to the chicken dish so be sure to read the menu description, but it didn't bother me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior is wonderful! Walls of windows is always a plus for me. Warm wood with other textures Om the wall to break up the wood being the dominate force. Great lighting to set a fun atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a good sports bar and grill in Knox/Henderson if you're looking for a cool and laid back place to eat, drink or watch a game.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Fish Tacos are mid, spicy chicken sandwich and Carnivore pizza was good. Finding a parking spot was hard during dinner time! The lot was packed and I had to drive through it twice, along with some other cars looking for a spot; but, fortunately someone walked to their car on my second time through so I lucked out with a good spot. I came for an event and so I was seated pretty quickly. But, it took awhile for a server to come by even to offer water; I'm not sure if it's because she was waiting for more people to show up to my table or what, but the hostess noticed and got her to eventually come. I thought that it was tasty. And I decided on the Korean BBQ poke bowl for my entree, which I appreciated.

After months of anticipation, I finally visited this popular local spot in the Henderson area of Dallas, Texas. With so many glowing videos and reviews online, my expectations were high--though I was prepared for a long wait. Right from the start, there were red flags. There was no hostess at the front, so the bartender had to step out from behind the bar to seat us and hand us menus. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Walking in on a Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM to find the restaurant only about 35% full was not a great sign.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our waitress took a full 23 minutes to even greet our table--we almost walked out. She wasn't busy either; I saw her folding napkins at the bar with the other servers while we waited. When she finally took our drink order, I asked about their well tequila and was surprised to hear they use Toro. Most restaurants (even non-high-end ones) pour something a little better. For food, I ordered the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, which I actually preferred from Chick-fil-A. The Poke Bowl was just okay, but the Carnivore Pizza was by far the best thing we tried. After we finished our food, the waitress immediately asked if we were ready for our bill, like she was eager to close out our tab. We told her no and ended up ordering two more rounds of drinks. If I were the server, I would have been trying to sell more items, not rushing to close the table. In my opinion, if the food isn't outstanding, the price and service need to make up for it. Unfortunately, we didn't find either one worth returning for. It's a great location and potential, but they're missing the mark. Lowering the prices, or is ok on the price but better food for what we order and improving the service, and maybe adding a live DJ for Sunday brunch could help turn things around.

Best bar/restaurant where the food, drinks, and ambiance are all top notch. Great spot to watch a game or just hang out with friends. It's consistent and the service is typically great. I've tried almost everything on the menu and it's all good - the pizzas, the Caesar, onion rings, the crispy potatoes, yum.

I have a rule: If you're selling a Modelo draft for $8 dollars, you're not getting a 5-star. Local Public Eatery caters to the "public" of Highland Park and Southern Methodist sorority girls. The cheapest thing on the menu is the $18 chicken sandwich, cocktails start at $16, and the server upsold me ranch by... lying?? "Do you want ranch on the side?" she asked, not telling me it'd be $3 dollar "truffle ranch" when Ranch = Hidden Valley in 99% of America. The food and service was otherwise decent but there's nothing I dislike more than greedy restaurants that take advantage of SMU kids' Dad's wallets at the expense of normal folk (Looking at you too Javier's). Next time I want basic American food I'll go to a basic American place, perhaps where Modelo drafts are priced at an appropriate $5.

Excellent service - Brandy was so sweet and totally on it without being obtrusive. The food, not so much. EVERYTHING was WAY overly salted. The Regular Pizza was covered with a thick coating of oil (olive???). It was awful. The fully loaded baked potato appie wasn't my gig, but my friend really liked them. The shrimp dumplings were okay, but honestly Trader Joe's dumplings are far better, and the sauce they were served in was a giant sodium bath. We didn't have any alcoholic beverages (it was a work night)...however the list looked good.

However, given the very high reviews, we had high expectations that fell short in the food department. The portions didn't feel like they matched the price as the salad I got wasn't very big compared to salads at other spots in the area. My fiancée got the local burger, and the patties had a notably smaller circumference than the giant bun which he said ruined it a bit as the eating experience and bun to meat ratio was off. We might come back to try the pizzas because they looked really good, but overall we weren't wowed.

On the way to the porch, we saw the LPE and stopped there for lunch instead. We ordered two local burgers with the double patty. Substituted cheddar cheese and had the side Caesar salad instead of fries. That was a nice substitute at no extra charge. The patties were made with quality meat. Only disappointment was the patties were small and didn't fill out the bun. The room was loud but bearable. Had large screen TVs for sports viewing and a nice bar area.

It's a new spot so it gets pretty crowded but even being new, the staff is very efficient and attentive! Some of the nuances of the menu I think could use some adjusting though - i.e. the beet humus is great but it's served with tortilla chips instead of pita/veggies which I feel is a missed opportunity because it just doesn't go with the flavor profile as well and half the chips were stale. Also, they don't have regular ranch, just a truffle ranch and while I understand truffle is popular, you either love it or hate it. I happen to hate it and love ranch so it was a major disappointment not to have a ranch option with my pizza. Overall though it's a good new spot and very dog friendly! read more

I really wanted to like Local Public Eatery -- the space is cool, the vibe is energetic, and it clearly draws a crowd. I have to say the experience didn't quite live up to my expectations. The menu wasn't very vegetarian friendly. I wanted to try to quesadillas but only had chicken. How can you say food is made fresh if unable to accommodate entree without meat. My friends had the pizza. The drinks were a little overpriced, Sassy Sangria was too spicy for me. Local Public Eatery has potential and certainly isn't the worst option out there, but it feels like a place that relies more on atmosphere than on food. If you're just grabbing drinks and appetizer it might work. But for a good meal there are better options nearby. read more

Very disappointed in my first time experience. I live very close and received a flyer to try this new place out. We came made reservations for 2 at the bar. Since the bar had a wait list. Once we were called to be sat. We were not sat at the bar. We were sat in the back at a table. Immediately turned me off as I prefer sitting at the bar. We continued dining since it was busy and didn't want to wait another 30 mins. Our server was not attentive and when she did come; she was quick just taking our order and immediately walking away. Our burgers came quick but were lukewarm not hot. After that we decided not to order anything else. Then also tried to use their promotion on the flyer I had brought they didn't apply to my check which I thought was odd but didn't say anything as things were already bad enough. I had the honor of attending the pre-grand opening of Local Public Eatery, and it was an experience like no other. The atmosphere is incredible--it's a sports bar, but with an elevated twist that makes it feel special. Located in the perfect spot on Knox Henderson, surrounded by a lively strip of other bars and restaurants, this place really stands out. The service was top-notch, and the food was phenomenal. My friend and I got a reservation opening night. First of all they were BUSY! All of the staff were still so friendly, helpful, and in a good mood. Every employee looked so cute and put together without being too casual and not too super dressy either. The food and drink menu had so many good options. The food was AMAZING! I had steak frites and she had Cajun Chicken Sandwich. Great place to watch the football game. Tons of patio and indoor space. Even when the owner felt like the service was taking too long (which I didn't feel like it was) he started handing out a few drinks! Good place to Watch the game with a full menu. They have multiple tvs with house sound and a good vibe with the music. The servers are also ver kind and fun. The only issue is parking can be a pain but there is a valet service to mitigate that issue. I do wish there were more vegan options but there are a lot of gluten free options. The V on the menu appears to be Vegetarian and there are a few of those items which can be modified. read more

I do not recommend going to this restaurant. I went there with two other people and we asked the server to separate the bill and she did whatever she wanted in order to increase her tip. I don't like dishonesty , especially when it comes to my money. The food was decent, but not enough for me to forgive what she did. Make sure that you look at your receipt and do not let the server bypass that. Everyone was nice in the establishment, but that was shady. read more

Loved the food. Local burger was 10/10 and the pepperoni pizza was 9/10. I also had a peach slush drink which was very good. Everything came out quick. No wait since I went at around 10 pm on a Tuesday. Waitress could've been more friendly and smiling. I would go back. No need to dress up it's casual. Angie behind the bar was a rockstar but the rest (the other 4) were not very helpful. The guys behind the bars were taking shots while our food was sitting in the kitchen. This restaurant recently opened, so we expected it to have a few issues starting out. Seated on a hectic Saturday Night, our drinks were taking a while, so the manager directly came over to speak with us to let us know it was taking a bit behind the bar. Not only did the manager Sam comp our first round of drinks, he also brought over a free beer for each of to enjoy while we waited. The ambience is very fun and a perfect setting to watch a game. The transparency and honesty by the manager has gone a long way in allowing us see they are committed to serving customers with great service. read more

We came on a Tuesday night expecting it to be dead and were absolutely shocked to see it was super lively. Our server Sam was so sweet and spunky. She gave us her honest opinions on the cocktails and I ended up ordering the gin cocktail. The perfect balance of sweet but still strong. The food came out so quickly and was absolutely delicious. The servers, managers and hostesses are extremely friendly and polite and willing to make sure you get charged correctly for your tab, one thing we realized is we got charged for tall happy dads when they serve you 12oz ones. Be very hesitant when closing out with a server change (not their fault) as we realizing the tab we closed before we were almost charged for a second time (again not the second servers fault and the manager was very nice to work with us, just make sure check your tab each time read more

Clear Mizu ($16): This has Sakura vermouth and bitters, so we ordered it. It tasted like straight up gin and was not good. It was actually one of the rare times my husband could not finish his drink. Kyoto Sunset ($15): This one wasn't bad and tasted like honeydew. The ingredients include honeydew Calpico, so that makes sense. Johnny Walker Black ($16): This was our friend's drink, which I think was just coke and Johnny Walker. Nothing special about the taste either. Given the smell and so-so/terrible cocktails, we will not be coming back or taking our friends here.

At one point, our food was delivered while we were outside getting fresh air. The food was also disappointing. The scallops and chicken were extremely salty and lacked flavor, and the chicken was overcooked. When we brought it up, the server did little to address it. To top it off, we saw two large cockroaches around our table, which was especially noticeable in the dark dining room. The cocktails were the highlight, but overall, the service, food, pacing, and cleanliness did not meet expectations. One star. Very disappointing, and I'm not sure I'll be back.

During my second visit, I tried the Bitter Lemon Soda, which was also very good--simple, refreshing, and without any overpowering flavors. I actually enjoyed The Bowen House so much that I went twice during my weekend trip to Dallas. It has an almost speakeasy-like atmosphere, with low lighting and a cozy, historic feel. It's also in a very walkable area, which made it easy to visit on foot. There is some parking available, although I would say it's somewhat limited. I don't think it would be the best spot for a very large group, but it would be perfect for a few friends getting together. I also appreciated that you can order a drink while waiting for a table or bar seating, which made the wait feel much more enjoyable. Overall, The Bowen House was one of my favorite places I visited while in Dallas. Between the atmosphere, welcoming service, and well-crafted drinks, it's definitely a place I would return to the next time I'm in town.

Not precisely sure but I think it's new ownership, at the very least a new Food & Bev manager. I also know the staff is very upset about these changes and the relationships with the repeat music talent is now a mess. I wouldn't be surprise if the staff start leaving. I'm hoping whomever is making these decisions can revert back to what was working. Dallas has a lot of great venues that will fill this void.

I wasn't looking for a free meal, but the lack of follow-through to remedy the situation was the icing on the cake (or insert some kind of raw steak pun). My cocktail (which all arrived AFTER our meals were delivered) was pretty good, thus the 2 stars. But I question why/how my steak was so raw despite me waiting 45-55 minutes for it. Overall, only come here for drinks - so long as you're okay with waiting forever & a day for them.

Before we left, I verified his name with another server, and Eddie yelled at us for doing that, too. Then we walked straight out. I later learned the owner of this bar is named Eddie. If that is who screamed at us, then there is no manager to complain to and no reason to expect anything to change. This was our second visit. The food the first time was honestly bad, but we gave it another chance since everywhere else was full. Now I understand why this place had open tables on a game day.
