BLUF: The owner has zero respect and zero consideration for people with physical disabilities by parking in a handicapped spot that is NOT meant for an able-bodied person like him. The food was good, service was great from our server, but all of that was ruined after the incident that happened. I considered whether I should write about it and after much consideration, I feel it's my duty to share this awful experience with others. If you know someone with a physical disability or you yourself do, you'll understand where I'm coming from and why this topic hits a nerve for me. There's 3 parking spots right up front to the restaurant, 1 of which is handicapped parking and the owner parked there. To make things worse, he parked into and over the striped lines on the ground as well, which are meant to give you more space to pull out a wheelchair ramp. He had no sticker or placard hung up in his vehicle. When Livermore PD came out to question him, his vehicle was still there, and he told the officer that he could park there because it's his private property. just wow. I was shocked and in disbelief. The Livermore PD officer asked him why he would park there if he's not handicapped. The owner's response was something to the effect of... ***I like to park here when I'm here*** again, WOW. Apparently it's up to the owner if he wants to enforce the handicapped parking because it's his private property. So Livermore PD could not make him move his vehicle and could not fine him. It's a mockery and a joke to have that handicapped spot there if he's just going to park there whenever he feels like it. If he so strongly felt the need for a special parking spot up front, then there's 2 other vacant spots next to this one, and he could have easily made one for himself with a sign, "Reserved for Owner". Problem solved. To witness him take up a space NOT meant for him, was such a slap in the face to all people with physical disabilities who would benefit from having a spot right up front. And yes I have a photo of his vehicle in that spot, but I will not be posting it. Again, I feel a certain type of way about people who do this. Idc if you're parking there "real quick" just to grab your to-go food b/c you don't wanna find a parking spot and walk or if you're just parking there because it's the only available spot. park somewhere ELSE or LEAVE. The people who do this are lazy and entitled able-bodied individuals who have no consideration for people with physical disabilities. God forbid they themselves become disabled one day or a loved one, and need one of those spots. Then they would understand how it feels. This behavior from the owner is absolutely disgusting and I cannot support a business where the owner, of all people, feels entitled to park in a spot reserved for people with physical disabilities, which he did not have a placard or sticker for, when questioned by the Livermore PD officer. read more

Locanda Wine Bar is unlike anything else on first st in Livermore. From the ambiance and decor to food and service, it felt like we were dining in a coastal town in Italy. The only thing missing was the actual coast. From appetizer to dessert, everything was incredibly delectable and had layers of flavor. The staff even gave us free Nutella martini shots which were perfect after our delectable desserts and a perfect end to a great meal. We ate so much but didn't feel overstuffed which is always a great feeling. If you're in Livermore and need a place to eat after some wine tasting, go to Locanda. They do give you complimentary bread with I think an olive tapenade. Service was nice and friendly. I know a big group can be a lot, but we kept it organized when ordering. We had reservations at Saturday 6:45pm. We were seated right away when we arrived. They have big outdoor patio. There's an area with tent covering or no covering. We sat indoors since it was cold. We brought a bottle of merlot wine from a winery and paid $25 corkage fee to drink it there. I came here with some friends and loved several things about this place. The ambiance is very lively and cohesive, definitely a quaint little spot to pass a nice evening. Our waitress, Ashley, was equally AMAZING and attentive to our group! She even was kind enough to assist with taking group photos of us and they turned out great. The only slight issue with my experience was the food: with ordering both the gnocchi and pana cotta, I found both to be under-seasoned or lacking in flavor. I asked a question about wine, and she didn't really have an answer, which made us wonder about the training. At one point, we tried to order an appetizer but she left before taking it down, so we had to wait for her to return. We ended up ordering the beet salad, the meat and cheese board, and the meatballs. The beet salad tasted good but was a really small portion with hardly any beets. The meat and cheese platter was also tiny--just a few thin slices and some nuts--not what we expected, especially for $24. The meatballs were decent but didn't stand out. Overall, the outdoor space is lovely, and the server was friendly even if a bit overwhelmed. The food was just okay, and the service could definitely use some polishing. I can't believe it took me so long to finally try Locanda Wine Bar out. I went in on a Saturday around 5:30. We didn't have a reservation because we weren't sure if it would be needed but they happily accommodated us anyway. I do recommend you make reservations because they were busy. The ambience in the tented area is absolutely lovely, and makes for a great date night spot. I came in already knowing what I wanted to order but when our lovely server Ana read off the specials, I decided to go for it. I ended up getting the Cacio e Pepe which was prepared outside near our table. If you happen to be here while they have this special again, I highly recommend it. Felt neglected at times even though there were not very many tables occupied. The salad I ordered (Insalata Locanda) came in a bowl that would not hold still. It spun each time I attempted to take a bite! Not a big deal. But what I would have appreciated about the salad was that it not include whole leaves of butter lettuce. There was not one single bite-sized piece. I had to cut up the lettuce myself before I was able to eat it which was tough to do with a spinning bowl. I don't see what's so hard about cutting or tearing the lettuce leaves before serving it. It was tasty but aggravating and messy. I'd go back but would not order the Insalata Locanda. read more
