We sampled the Clam Chowder, and I can honestly say it's some of the best we've ever had. For the main course, he ordered the Dry Aged Cowboy Cut Ribeye with the salad bar and described it as absolutely delicious. My wife and I brought our daughter here for her birthday. We made reservations for 6 pm on a Saturday night. When you walk in, there is a lot of dark wood, kind of a rustic feel, but a little dated. There is an upstairs and a downstairs, and just inside the front door on the right is a stage. Indeed, there was live music. We were sat upstairs at a table overlooking the downstairs. Two large ceiling beams prevented us from being able to fully see the female singer/guitarist. The restaurant became even more busy by the time we received our food. It was loud, but for the most part I could hear my wife and daughter talking. Our server, a tall brunette, and I failed to get her name, came to our table quickly. My daughter ordered a Whiskey Sour, my wife a glass of wine, and I wanted a hazy IPA. Alas, their draft system was on the fritz, and they had no IPAs in bottles. That was disappointing. However, someone made a beer run, and our server informed me that they had Lagunitas in a can. Not a hazy, and a beer you can buy in any grocery store, but I would have to settle. We were also serve some warm, tasty sourdough rolls. The food took too long to come out. Our daughter had the filet with cheesy potatoes and a house salad, and my wife and I had the jumbo prawns with rice and asparagus. My wife also got a bowl of New England clam chowder. All of the food was delicious. I saw someone walk by with Mud Pie(they call it Cow Pie) and I knew I had to have some for dessert. My wife said that she only wanted dessert if they had Creme Brulee. Well, the server came over to say, without us asking, that they had Creme Brulee. My wife was a happy camper. I did have empathy for our server. It sounded like it had been a rough night for her. Working the upstairs tables, she was having to go up and down a steep staircase continuously, and when I commented on how hard that must be, she said that her knee was bothering her. So, I think she was working in pain. Our daughter was excited about the live music. The solo singer/guitarist sang songs by Tracy Chapman, Fleetwood Mac, Bob Dylan, and Cold Play. As we were leaving, our daughter praised her and got her card, intending to follow her on Instagram and go see her play live here and at other places. We started with a couple of drinks and then proceeded to order - I ordered the ribeye with fries & my husband had the New York steak au poivre with a loaded baked potato. I have been coming to Lock Stock and Barrel since the 80's as a kid. Back then it was off of Emerald. I remember that joint vividly. Some of my happiest memories were there. It was my family's go to place for dinner. Tonight I came in with my husband to celebrate Valentines day. Our reservation was at 7:45. The sweet hostess got us sat. I have never eaten on the second level and that's where our table was tonight. We were next to the railing which was fun. We got a great view of the night preformer and all the guests. As cool as the location of our table was, I would have liked a bigger table. The size of the table would have been great for a couple appetizers and drinks. Our meals took up the whole table and it felt really congested. We made it work but I'll probably request a bigger table the next time we go. Ali took care of us tonight. She was great! She got our drinks started and dropped off some warm sourdough rolls. For dinner we ordered the Asiago ribeye special, Argentina crab legs and 2 lobster tails. We added an extra salad bar cause we both needed some clam chowder from the salad bar. The clam chowder will always be my favorite here. It was fabulous in the 80's and it was fabulous tonight. The sourdough rolls were beautifully baked. Crusty on the outside and so soft in the middle. Dipping the rolls into the chowder is my favorite! The ribeye was perfectly charred! I had the medallion of the ribeye and it was sooooooo good! It was topped with an Asiago sauce that added a great flavor to the steak. The lobster was sweet and tender. The melted butter was perfect with the lobster. The Argentina crab legs were ok. For 39.99 for a half a pound, I didn't feel like it was worth the money. The legs were dry and not really warm. Not a lot of meat in the legs. It was cool to try it but it I wouldn't reorder them. It was beautiful seeing the venue full of happy guests tonight. Celebrating love, life or just enjoying the moment. I'm happy that this local joint is still around helping locals create memories like how it did for me tonight and a long time ago when i was a kid. I recently traveled to Boise, Idaho for work. We were looking for a good restaurant. Randomly found lock stock and barrel and decided to eat there. We had an amazing experience, sitting at the bar. The place was not pretentious, it just put out amazing food. I got the bacon wrapped scallops with risotto, which were well worth every single bite. I also got the blue cheese, ribeye, and salad bar. The appetizers were solid with the Cajun bacon wrapped prawn being my favorite, the garlic and Brie was stinky and smooth, two solid choices there to wet the whistle. The steaks were good, with very generous portions on the cut. I'd recommend either of the two dry aged options or the black and blue ribeye with the later possibly taking the cake. Our friends made a dinner reservation after our daughter's memorial service. We all ordered medium rare steaks, but my husband and I chose the filet Oscar with a side of asparagus ($57.99) and added a 6-oz lobster ($39.99). Unfortunately, our filet arrived well done. When my husband tried a bite, it was so tough he couldn't chew it and had to spit it out, leaving our filet untouched. Although the waitress offered to prepare a new one, we politely declined. The waitress did discount our meal, taking $28 off the $57.99, so we still ended up paying nearly $30 for a side of asparagus. Sent here for my 51st anniversary. They don't seat for dinner before 5 so we had a drink in the bar. Nice atmosphere. Great service. Ordered the scallop appetizer. We got 3 scallops for $21. Just the right amount checking back to see if we needed anything. Salad bar was enough for just that - a salad. Simple salad making. This isn't Sizzler with a huge salad bar. Adequate enough to make a salad. If you want a caesar salad, that is an option in place of the salad bar. Something for everyone. Soup is included with the salad bar. The clam chowder was very good, but the Prime Rib Chili was the BOM!!!! I would come back just for that! Rolls are complimentary at one per person. Extras will cost $.50 each. Hubby got the prime rib which was prepare just to his liking. A nice medium rare with being bloody. The baked potato was HUGE! He was in. heaven. A nice peppercorn coating gave it a lot of flavor. Not just chewing on a hunk of beef. This was really good! Mushrooms were limp and over done. Skip those next time too. I had the dry aged New York with brandy cream and a lobster tail. Delicious! Not the typical boiled the broiled tail. This was baked with a buttery glazed. You can taste the lobster instead it being boiled way. My steak was easily cut with a knife. A nice thickness and beautiful finish with the brandy cream sauce. The asparagus was overdone and mushy so they exchanged it for the broccoli, which came out perfectly. So why not 5 stars? Dessert was abyssmal. I ordered the bread pudding with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. What I received was a 3"x4"x 1/2" slice of deep friend cinnamon bread. It was so deep friend it was hard as a rock! Not soft at all. Deep fried slab of bread? Really? No amount of caramel sauce (which was pretty good BTW) or ice cream was going to soften it up. It was so bad we started laughing. I took photos (attached) and emailed the manager. Haven't heard back or anything tho. Personally, the meal was so good it a shame to screw it up with lousy dessert. They are currently closed for lunch due to lots of construction on 11th. I will be back. Tried this place just a month ago and we have gone multiple times now! The atmosphere is cozy, the staff work their butts off to provide great service. Haven't had a bad meal yet! Our favorite is the black and bleu ribeye and the sandpiper tribute salad. I've also tried the salmon and was very impressed. The steak risotto special was very good. The shrimp cocktail was meh for the price, that's about the only thing I wouldn't get again. We've sat at the bar every time and really enjoyed the live music. On the menu lots of great options both "surf" and "turf" as well as extensive list of tasty appetizers. Local brews on tap is always a plus with me. Prices certainly on the higher end but good sized portions well seasoned and the salad bar included adds to the value. Not too much in the way of decor in the main dining room but I like simple and it was clean and nice natural lighting from the large street side window. My desert was on the house as it was my birthday I ordered the cow pie and it was very large and rich. Overall wonderful experience and will be dining again soon! read more
