The food was very much Taco Bell-ish ... we just made things up on the menu type. If you're just looking to go drink and watch sports and don't care about authentic cuisine, this is your go to spot. Walked in 85% of the tables were dirty, they may have just had a rush but all the tables as you walked in were full of dirty plates, chips and cups! We sat towards the middle closer to the bar, the young lady came and gave us chips and salsa. The salsa is pretty good here! The chips are a little salty, but nothing to bad. Our waitress came she was super sweet and friendly, we ordered the drunken tacos with rice and Mexican coleslaw. We also got The chips with guac the chips and guac are amazing! The guac is super fresh. The tacos were OK. They fell apart before you even were able to take a bite of them then dipping them in the juice was even harder!! Food is always pretty good. I love their pork belly tacos and drunken tacos. Their queso (I get a side of habanero salsa to add in) is amazing too. Cadillac Marg is bomb too. Staff is friendly and Tim and Skillet always have great service. On point with the drinks and orders. Overall I do like this place a lot and come often. This was a great spot in a bustling area during playoff football. It's got a great outdoor seating area that's heated and plenty of tvs. Service was really good considering the amount of people. We had drinks in hand within minutes and appetizers on the table shortly thereafter. We stuck with small plates for most of the evening, wings were great (try the ones with honey on them), as was the queso. We had friends in town and they wanted to experience some bars and restaurants in Old Town so they picked Loco Patron. We stopped in on a Saturday night around 5pm and were told to sit anywhere that had already been bussed. We waited a few minutes and one of the servers was kind enough to quickly clean off a booth for us. The bar was decorated for the holidays days which was nice. There were people of all ages, even families which was also nice. It is a sports bar so they had the tv's tuned into the various games. There was a DJ playing but the music was a a decent level so we could still have a nice conversation. Our server, Dominique, was very nice. For drinks we ordered the skinny Rosa margaritas which everyone liked. The food came out quickly which was great, however, the dinner came out at the same time as the appetizers which was unfortunate. The food server was apologetic for bringing everything at the same time. For appetizers, we ordered wings and cheese curds. The wings were a little soggy so they definitely could have been more crispy but the flavor was good. The cheese curds were good while they were hot. For dinner, we ordered Mahi Mahi tacos that came with a side of spicy slaw. Both were very good. Our friends ordered the steak fajitas, a protein bowl and an order of nachos which they said was fine. I would recommend the Mahi Mahi tacos. Loco Patron is right on Scottsdale Rd so if you sit in the booths or table along the road, you may smell gas fumes like we did. The smell did get to us so we couldn't stick around for an extra cocktail. I would recommend sitting closer to inside or inside the restaurant. Loco Patron has a lot of TV's so it is a good place to catch a game, grab a drink and a bite to eat. It's right on Scottsdale Rd so great for people watching as well. read more

I'm really glad we came here. A bunch of friends and I were here for the Final Four Weekend and I don't know how but someone was able to get a table for a group of around 7. The highlight of this place is the location and atmosphere. The patio is really, really cool. Nice and open but still shaded, lively, and fun. There's plenty of TVs to watch whatever sporting event you like; when we were there, we had the women's college basketball championship. And the location is super convenient in beautiful Old Town Scottsdale. The food is alright. I got the shrimp ceviche. It was alright. Overall, neat place. Been going to LP for 10 years and last night the food was awful and so expensive. New owners?? First they had 1 waitress for the whole patio which was very busy due to Final Four championship game. After 20 minutes the bouncer off duty tracked down a waitress for us. 4 tablespoons of guac was $9. No salsa is given with the chips. They charge for a very small dish $2.50. Again the off duty bouncer got the salsa. My girlfriend's ordered a cheese enchilada and we searched. There was no cheese. The green sauce tasted sour. I have lived on street cart tacos for 10 years and they were so dry. No sauce and no cheese. Barf! Plus the plate used have 3 tacos now they offer 2. We came here for trivia with a few friends. Total of 5 people at the table. For food, we got a quesadilla and the smashed potatoes. The quesadilla was pretty good and the Birria dipping sauce was seasoned well. The smashed potatoes were not as expected. For the price and size of what we got (pictured), was not acceptable. I wouldn't order these again. The service on this first time experience was truly horrible. None of us felt positive about the experience. Also being surprised by a combined bill vs split bills. When I approached the server nicely she said that they don't split bills fora table or 6 because there's 20% gratuity. I said we don't have 6 people, we have 5 and I said this is our first time here as well. She gave me a look but then split the bills. She ended up splitting the bills wrong for our friends but we were already tired and just wanted to leave. When paying with cash, they didn't even perform that correctly. I had to ask (to have the full $20 bill they gave me back), split so I could leave a tip (despite the horrendous experience). So many things wrong with this experience. Was told the food was 'authentic' and 'really good', it was not. I felt like the food had no taste and it was not 'authentic'. It didn't taste anything like real Mexican food. I would say cut so small would require a microscope to find. She talked to the owner and apparently he's told his staff to start cutting the shrimp in larger pieces. They also proudly display a Lambeau Field banner, showing love for the Green Bay Packers and claiming to be Arizona's original Packers fan club. So I've been here several times and good place but today wasn't the best service. My first margarita was ok and then I ordered a 2nd one and it wasn't as good it tasted very sweet and bitter and so I told the waitress and they remade it only this time it tasted as if it was made with jalapeño juice or tequila. Again I kindly asked of it was possible to remake and she took the drink amd she never came back. Was their waiting for almost 30 minutes until just leaving. And I almost walked out, but I am hungry and already here. Margarita came out , this was a mistake This is one of those places that has to appealed to the masses because of the area I guess.
