What a cute cabin and spot to have lunch even if you aren't skiing! Their meat quality was amazing and you really can't beat eating a good Colorado burger overlooking the snowy mountains. This is a beautiful building, with friendly staff. In fact, I think it's far nicer than the one in Aspen! The problem, and why I have such a low rating, is because it's dirty! A no point did I see anyone sanitizing or cleaning ANYTHING! We visited on a Tuesday afternoon at the end of July, 2022. The bathrooms were disgusting! I left a paper towel on the counter and an hour and a half later, it was still there. The toilets look like they never get cleaned and if they do, they certainly are not using anything that disinfects. The grim looks old! A subway bathroom in NYC would be in par with this bathroom. The restaurant table and chairs could all use a good scrubbing down. The water fountain looks like you'd get sick if you drank from it. Everything just felt and looked dirty! One doesn't want to worry about how sick they are going to get by eating here! They should be embarrassed in their lack of sanitation. Maybe the health inspector should visit more often! read more

I love the new Apres Ski with live music at Sunspot. It is from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm Thursday - Saturday. If you have a pass you can go right up otherwise the Gondola is free for nonpass​ holders at 4:00 pm. Order a drink at the bar and take it through the cafeteria and find a table. The live music has been acoustic and mellow performed by talented musicians​. The Sunspot has become my Friday Apres Ski go-to​ place. Don't forget some cash to tip the performers if you like their music. I admit I keep forgetting and then I feel bad once I am there. You may even get a beautiful Alpenglow out the windows at sunset so be ready for photos. It is beautiful up there. read more

Place has horrible food. Views are great. Less crowds than other locations at the resort because no one wants to eat here. $21 salmon salad is a joke. Salmon was rotten and dried up like a stinky carcass. Corn chowder tastes like water. Best part of our meal was the Doritos. Much better places to eat in the village. We stopped here in the middle of our ski day and I thought all of the food were very tasty. I got the buffalo chicken tenders and fries and they were both cooked very well. If you want a read adventure, get on your bike or skis and make your way up to the top of the mountain! You can enjoy a beautiful site as you enjoy or meal before heading back down the mountain. Keep in mind because it is a trip up there that you will be paying some extra cost for it as well. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Also, if you are looking for a quick snack verses a meal they also have a snack bar area with drinks, chips, candy bars, etc. They have everything for any kind of appetite. Everything seems large and big when you first walk in and then you can go to the left where the bathrooms are located or to the right where the indoor and outdoor dining area is. Beautiful well set up place with good wood work all around. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about what they have to offer. Everything that I saw on people's plates including my own looked delightful! Because we come to Winter Park often you can probably expect us to hit this place up again in the future. It really is a great stop in a mid day ski or bike trip to allow to soak up the sun and relax before you go back out on an adventure! read more

Nice spot! Two sides, a sit down restaurant and full bar and a cafeteria-esque side. Never visited during the summer months but it's a great spot to stop for a bite during the ski season. Clean bathrooms. Plenty of seating with huge open windows. Smaller tables and larger circular ones for groups of six to ten. This part of the mountain is a lot quieter than nearby Lunch Rock. Same type setup but I know they do fancier events or dinners here. Fireworks a few times in winter and then wedding receptions of course. Fairly decent prices as far as mountain food goes. Drink prices and specials are great. Cheaper than a Vail resort but Winter Park is a bit out of the way which is nice. Expect $9-12 per person. "Tax is higher as elevation goes up." Good tip from a cashier on the mountain. Much less crowded here compared to Lunch Rock. Some great nearby runs to ski down too. Not as easy to come across on accident but worth seeking out when you are up on the mountain. read more

Came here for the Christmas Eve dinner. Food was okay and the ambience was too. Was too overpriced. A family of 4 for $260 for buffet. Wasn't really worth it. The staff at the gondola shouldn't make the patrons feel harassed or in their way while waiting for the gondola. The gentleman tried telling me I couldn't get on the gondola until 6:30 which was my dinner reservation time and expected me to wait outside in the blizzard cold. read more

If you want to dine on top of Winter Park Mountain and have spectacular views of the Continental Divide then the Lodge at Sunspot is your place. You can take the ski lift up for lunch for $30 a person but they will give you a voucher for $15 each towards your lunch. Kids 5 and under are free. The ride on the lift is part of the fun and the views going up are spectacular. Sunspot itself is pretty cool - very rustic with huge log beams exposed overhead. I would request seating near the windows in the lower area as this is where the best views are. Lunch prices are very reasonable with all menu items under $20. I had the Buffalo Chili which was GREAT. I requested it in a regular bowl instead of the regular bread bowl to cut down the carbs. My wife had the Caprese salad which was also very good. They had a decent local beer selection on draft as well. They also offer kids menu items which must have been good since they were scarfed down and seconds were requested. Overall this is an awesome spot to lunch while at Winter Park even if you are not skiing. I'm not sure if Dinner would be as nice of an experience if it were dark and you could not see the beautiful scenery outside. read more

I've loved Winter Park for years. I learned how to ski there. Christmas lunch is usually at Sunspot. I got married at Lunch Rock. I'm tremendously disappointed to say that the new dinner service at Sunspot was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. I was there on 2/23 to celebrate my mom's birthday. 3 of us ordered the prime rib. It was cold. Not just slightly-cooler-than-preferable. Cold. I've never sent a dish back in my life, but we sent all three plates back. Next try: cold. It was simply shocking. Somehow Winter Park managed to serve excellent food at my wedding nearly three years ago but couldn't get three plates above room temperature Saturday night. We didn't send back the vegetarian dish but it certainly wasn't a $60 plate. Sadly, other small mistakes added up to a service experience that also didn't match the steep price tag. For example, upon arriving we checked in with the host, who told us they'd get us from the bar when our table was ready. 15 minutes after our reservation time we checked in again to find out they had simply forgotten about us. The wait for our drinks was long (and the bottle was poured without allowing anyone to taste first), wait for the food was long, etc. We felt horrible about it but we told Sunspot we'd pay for the half-eaten vegetarian dish and the bottle of cava, and we ended up getting pizza at the base. Winter Park is clearly putting a lot of effort towards marketing itself as a world class resort. I hope they remember to put that effort into the quality of the experiences and customer service they offer. read more

We did the 5 course menu at 6:45 pm. It was a beautiful ride up and we were welcomed by a kind hostess and coat check staff. The dining room is rustic, yet elegant. Upbeat jazz was playing over the sound system. Great setting! The first course was a buffalo short rib, which was good but lacked a little in both sauce and tenderness. The second course was lobster bisque. It is was phenomenal! Tip- ask for the bread before the soup arrives. They brought it out to other tables with the main entree and to miss dipping a piece of that tender flakey bread in your bisque would be nothing less than tragic. Then next course was a beat salad with rasberry gastric, walnuts and blue cheese. All good independently, but not fantastic together. For entrees, we had the buffalo osso bucco and the elk tenderloin - both good. The buffalo (per the husband) was delicious and fork tender - slightly dry, but only due to the leanness of the meat. It was served with asparagus, carrots, beats and a potato cake. My elk was delicious as well. Perfect mid-rare with the same accompany, except for potato mash vs potato cake. Quite great potatoes. The final course (which we had to box) was a salted Carmel cheesecake. I'm happy to report that it was freaking awesome!!! All in all - thumbs up! Great experience! read more

We've had two experiences eating here. While skiing we stopped in for lunch with our group. Lunch was fantastic and our server was spot on in making sure we were taken care of. The burgers and soup were very good and we never had an empty glass. We recently dined a night. This is where it gets more stars for the experience versus the food and service. The ride up during sunset was spectacular, the views amazing. We were lucky enough to be seated by the window and was able to watch the full sunset as well as the lights in Winter Park. The prices are actually reasonable for the set menu with a couple of price points available. We started with the lobster bisque which was very good. I had the ribeye which I didn't think was all that fantastic and my husband agreed with what he had. The sides on the plate were minimal, literally two small carrots and a small scoop of mashed potatoes. Though the waitstaff was pleasant, I had to get our servers attention many times to ask for bread, water, another glass of wine. Which was very unlike our lunch experience. All in all the experience is unique, the food is ok, and the views are amazing. read more

This review is actually for the Provisioner Cafeteria located in the same building as Restaurant. We enjoyed the views inside which munching on fries, a bread bowl filled with chili and a Garden Burger. There are a decent amount of options in the Cafeteria and the food seems very fresh. The place is kept clean despite the large number of people that go in and out. IMO this is the best place to eat, if you don't mind paying mountain prices... but honestly, they weren't steep compared to anywhere in town and you certainly can't get views like this in such a nice building anywhere else on the mountain! read more

There are two sides to Sunspot Restaurant. One is cafeteria style and the other is table service. Both sides have beautiful views, it just depends if you are looking to hurry and get back to skiing or get warm and be waited on! I love the menu in the table service restaurant. It is unique and I have never had a bad meal. I like the pasta, elk, buffalo. If you need a warm up break, try it out! The bar located between both sides is really nice also. The coffee bar makes a mean caramel macchiato! I have not gone there at night. read more

Four stars for the value of foods considering it is on top of the mountain. I love the big logs construction of the building. It was so busy by the time we get there yet I was amazed how they kept the bathroom clean. Disappointing experience for the first night of aprés ski via the gondola. What is advertised is live music, drinks, and small plates by the fireplace. The food is just the cafeteria, and the menu of table service options (many of which sound great) is not available. The seating is in the main cafeteria, where there is a live performer (and lots of people still in ski gear), but the photo on the website advertising a couple with a bottle of wine and a nice flatbread small plate by the fireplace is just advertising, not reality. read more

Nicer than Snoasis. Higher up on the mountain so the view is obviously better. It sits like a remote little cabin equipped with patio, dining room, bar, coffee bar and cafeteria. The dining area to the right is expensive. And the cafeteria is expensive. It's all expensive. $16 for a lesser than subpar chicken sandwich or burger. We shared some (3) chicken tenders and fries for $9 which was suitable. It's certainly a much cozier, warm environment. There are comfy couches for seating and once again the views are heavenly. Can't remark on the service since we ate in the cafeteria but the coffee shop girl was sweet. read more

We were able to score a window table in the Provisioner Cafeteria section of the building. The view was terrific! I had a grilled cheese on multi-grain bread with tater tots and a diet coke, Brent had a cheese burger and fries with a coke. The food was above average for a ski resort cafeteria, as were the prices. That said, it's definitely worth it when skiing at Winter Park. read more

This was the first place that we made a reservation at after deciding we were coming to NASTAR nationals and it fit into the schedule perfectly. They serve a five course dinner menu every Friday and Saturday evening from some time in December to some time in March. They install gondolas, that normally aren't on the lift line, for this occasion. We went up about 30 minutes before sunset so we got some very spectacular views going up. There was a VIP party of 75 this evening and there were about 8 tables, with much better views, for those of us not attached to the VIP party. The courses were: 1) Buffalo ravioli 2) lobster bisque 3) bib lettuce with candied pecans, raspberries, lemon Stilton blue cheese and champaign dressing 4) Colorado striped bass & elk tournedos with a cherry demi sauce (one for each of us) Yukon gold mashed potatoes and for dessert 5) a chocolate cannoli with chocolate chip marscapone. The buffalo ravioli was very flavorful with a very light cream sauce. The salad was very sweet and the blue cheese did have the normal strong blue cheese taste, more like a honey flavor and very good. Lobster bisque was seasoned to perfection and very tasty. It's not every day that I get to eat elk and I'm glad I chose it. The elk was served medium rare and was one of the most tender meat cuts that I've ever had. I thought that the cherry Demi glaze was the perfect addition. The fish was just ok, lightly breaded served with wild rice pilaf. Dessert was good but not excellent, I guess it was too much chocolate for me, maybe a raspberry marscapone instead of the chocolate chip. The trip down on the gondola was very nice again with the snow cats grooming snow and the lights from the village and neighboring towns. The trip up/down was a verticle of 1554 feet, about a mile long and takes about 11 minutes :). Love that "realski" phone app Would I come here again? For sure read more

They take limited reservations because of gondola capacity limitations. The gondolas are freezing so dress in layers! It's a pretty ride to the restaurant and back down. The service is excellent! For our meal we had a cheese appetizer which was fantastic, then a lobster bisque which was also delicious - I loved that the lobster was chopped up and not in huge chunks. Then we had a salad and the waiter really really talked up the buffalo steak special which sadly was terrible. It was very hard to cut through and very fatty. Also it didn't have much flavor. Sadly we all ordered it and I think maybe we all had two bites at most :(. The dessert was great as well. I wish I had ordered the fish off the menu but he was a great salesperson! Stopped in for a quick beer with a buddy and decided to grab a bite, and we were seriously impressed. The pork wings were awesome (came with a waffle side, which was awesome), the bison burger cooked to perfection, and the fries perfectly crisped. The beers were fairly standard (New Belgium and Ska brewing, in addition to domestics), but complemented the food well. Easy to grab a spot, drop the gear by the fire to warm up, and snag a beer and get food on order. It's not cheap, but at least we paid for good quality. I've had the same salmon BLT for other visits and it's been overcooked and just meh. Servers are extremely nice - some are very attentive and others are nowhere to be found. We opt to eat here over the cafeteria options. The food is not that much more, but I love to relax and enjoy the view. read more

We love this spot during ski season, but had such a wonderful experience there in August that I had to post. We took some older family members up the lift for lunch at Sunspot - this is a great thing to do with people who never had the chance to ski, btw. Because of construction this year, there was a bit of a walk involved. It turned out to be too taxing for our 92 year old, who's recovering from a broken leg. The Sunspot manager Tito kindly offered to drive our whole party of 9 back down the mountain after we had a delightful lunch of yummy tacos. So kind. The WP staff are the best! read more

After the Torchlight Parade, we had Christmas Eve dinner at the Lodge at Sunspot. We were among the first group to go up. The gondola ride to the top was nice definitely a nice start to the experience. We opted for the five course dinner option and enjoyed the first three courses: mushroom ravioli, lobster bisque, and salads. For the entree, We had the buffalo and and Delmonico steak. Both were great, but the side dishes for both were a little bland. The chocolate torte was a great way to end. Our server, Liam, was very nice start to finish. The other servers were also very friendly as they waited for their tables to be seated. We look forward to returning next year and hope to make The Lodge at Sunspot an annual Christmas Eve tradition. read more

Really disappointing. We took our granddaughter up on the chair lift and figured we'd have lunch prior to riding the alpine slide. Service & food were terrible ;-( Now, I'm used to taking the gondola to the top of Keystone resort where they have the wonderful Alpenglow Stube, where you get 5-star service/food. Food with a view! Getting up to Sunspot alone is worth the trip. In the summer hike or take the chair lift (for a cost) and overlook the Continental Divide and the Fraser Valley. Eating here in the summer, I've had their Hawaiian Chicken Sandwhich, was an explosion of flavor, and was seriously like nothing I've ever had (in a very good way). I also indulged and tried on of their fruit smoothies, made fresh and topped with whipped cream! It was so refreshing on the sunny day I spent in the dining room. Overlooking the valley from this tucked away lodge is great for a late lunch break after hiking or biking at the resort. The staff was extremely helpful and charming. I felt like the food was perfectly prepared just for me. The venue itself is gorgeous. I still can't get over the views! The back patio hosts weddings, and I can see why, as the mountain views cascade past the horizon and make even your glass of water taste better! read more
