I have to say, this is the cleanest and most relaxed I have felt in years! Such good service! I got a 60 minute scrub and believe I received above and beyond a scrub. The woman who gave me the scrub also did a brief body massage and shampoo at the end. I arrived about 30 minutes before my appointment and soaked in the pools/use the steam room prior to my scrub. I think that made the experience better because my skin softened and easier to exfoliate. I will make this a monthly routine! Btw, my skin is SO soft and smooth. If you are new to Korean spas, there is a caveat of no outside clothing. Once I got over this, the experience was well worth it. read more

I was a total waste of money and time. I was really disappointed about their overall service as well as customer service. I do not recommend this place for Korean style sauna here in Hawaii. First, the steam sauna often was working whenever I went there, which why I'm going there, and I heard that is because they don't clean well regularly. So, the water smelled like bathroom near there. However, the most worst thing was the unfriendly employees working there. It seemed like they don't care for customers other than chatting in front side, so if you need something and ask them, they will show you an attitude like "why are you bothering me!" and never apology about their poor service.. WHOOP WHOOP! Yay! I'm finally on my 50th review and I wanted it to be one of my five star reviews. What better place then good ol Loess Spa. I personally love all things Korean. The food, the music, their soap operas, and now their spas! My mother took me here for my first time and at first I was all like "Oh lord have mercy puh-lease dont make me have to be naked in front of other woman, with my boobies and my womanhood" Cuz if you read my "Waxing by Cariann" review then you know that I am A pretty curvy lady, Im not like huuuuge but Im a pretty healthy size o-kay. Anyhow after my first time I loved it. I didnt go back for a while until recently with a girlfriend and IDK if its because Im older/wisier/crazier or what but I totally just went on in and embraced my nakedness. I guess it also helped that I was familiar with the place and I knew everyone else in there didnt give a rip about being naked either so I just waltzed on in like "Hey girl heeeey" and just did my thing. I love the hot and cold water pools!!! Since the cold pool is my favorite I started off in there then I went into the sauna and then into the hot water pool and then went into one of the sauna again which smells beautiful btw. Then I went back into the hot water pool and then into the other sauna. Then I went back into the hot pool again until it was time for my scrub. My scrub was done by Cho and it was FABULOUS!!! And it only cost my husband $60! Now $60 for such a thorough cleaning is a great buy to me. She scrubbed me down from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet. There was soooooo much dead skin which is crazy cuz I showered right before and I scrubbed thinking there would be less dead skin...but no. They are master scrubbers and scrubbed me so so so good. It was not painful at all. I really enjoyed it. She was very kind, funny and professional. After my scrub down she washed my hair and washed my body then rinsed me down. Then I went back into the sauna and then finished it off in the cold pool which is my favorite part. I so love that cold pool. It feels amazing! Before I changed I went to this dark room where you just lie down and its all scented and I just did a quick shut eye before I left. Idk what it is about that room but its wonderful! Not too hot just nicely warm. Dark with a beautiful aroma and little wood things you can use as pillows which also is surprisingly comfortable. They also have little lockers they give you to secure your stuff and you take your key with you. They also provide towels which I hang before going into the main spa area. Also I carry this little washcloth they provide with me througout the spa and use it on my face in the saunas and just lay it over my eyes when Im being scrubbed. Lastly they also serve yummy Korean food in the back which is nice and I also catch some K-dramas in the seating area when one of my shows are on. I LOVE THIS PLACE! So much so that I am now a regular and will be going back this week! Just in case you dont know this is only for WOMAN!!! If you are planning to go there or just need a break then this is the place for you. I suggest it to every woman who needs some down time and does not mind being naked in front of other woman. Give yourself at least 2-3 hours to thoroughly enjoy yourself. Worth every penny! read more

My friend and I have been dying to try this awesome "scrub" we have been hearing about and last night was the night!!! We decided that since they are open till 1am, we would meet there at 10pm and will have plenty of time to experience everything. We were talking in the parking lot before entering and was asked by a lady to "come in so we can pay before the cashier leaves." So we hurried in and had packages presented to us to pick from. It was really difficult to communicate with the language barrier but none the less, we were treated very nicely. Now in another review I had read prior to my visit said that $120 was the full service including tip...however, last night, we had paid $120 and got pretty much the full service but was asked to tip on top of the $120. So we were kind of unsure about how the whole thing worked but we tried to ask questions and not disrepect anyone in the process. We got our locker keys, towels, and robes. we removed our shoes and stripped down! We then headed into the spa area and was told that after 20mins, the ladys would be in to begin our scrub. We hit the showers and then headed to the hot pool. It was REALLY hot but felt awesome! We then sat in the steam room for a bit before the ladys came in to do their thing! We were greeted as best as they could, being that they dont speak english, and invited to lay face down on our separate tables were all the awesomeness was about to happen!! I was greeted by Mina with a lovely smile and sweet manner. The scrub was amazing and the oils and whatever else she dipped me in was lovely!! After that was complete, she sent me to the shower and then had me back on the table for my massage! it was so relaxing and wonderful, I just layed there with a smile on my face the entire time! After my massage was completed, it was time for my facial. FRESHLY GRATED CUCUMBERS on my face, it was delightful! And to end the service I had a wonderful shampoo and conditioning of my hair. My friend and I headed to the showers with what seemed to be a permanent smile on our faces and spoke of how we just cant wait to return again! We had both felt so shiny and squeeky clean. Not to mention relaxed, I just sit and day dream today of being back on that table with that little grin on my face! This is definately something I would reccomend to anyone HOWEVER, you need to be comfortable being naked! And do not go back into the pools after your service, it is not allowed! OOPS! I would give this place five stars BUT the language barrier is what is previenting this. It is really hard to understand whats allowed or not allowed. read more

If you are looking for a 5 star, fruits in basket, warm cozy slippers and robes, nice relaxing rooms, magazines and quietness, then you should quickly move on to another spa. This place is absolutely the most different experience I've ever had for a spa. Mind you, I love spas. I visit many spas in California like Glenn Ivy, Burke Williams, Hyatt Newport Beach and Massage Envy. Whenever I visit the amazing city of Las Vegas, I always go to the hotel spa there. So with that in mind.... this place is unlike any place I have ever been to. For $100 (plus the mandatory $20 tip) I get an entrance to use the pools, saunas and charcoal room, a scrub, an oil massage, cucumber mask (the mask is amazing). Most spas you would be looking at a $300 bill. Now here are the interesting things happen at a korean spa. - as you get to their door, it reads, shoes off. I'm thinking ok, where are those nice cozy slippers you get.... none. I have a minimal phobia of dirty floors and fungus but I had to quickly leave that out the door too. - the lady says hello and asks what services you want. There's no tour of the venue.... no fancy robe, the locker room is right next to the counter. -nakedness everywhere! I walk towards the locker room and already I see 3 naked ladies. If you are uncomfortable with nudity...... leave immediately. -since I had no idea what to do, I got undressed and walked in the door that everyone is coming out from. -if your not korean and middle age, they will stare at you. They will stare at you, talk to you and compliment you. (thanks for the ego boost ladies) -the scrub and massage table is plastic and it's right infront of everybody. They will bend you anyway they need to scrub you down clean. These ladies are THOROUGH. -the massage is OK, nothing to brag. -once you are done, you are required to wash off and not be entered back into the pools.... bummed! -saunas are extreme charcoal room is cool -everything else.... isn't pretty. After all that, I will definitely come back. Your not paying for the ambiance because if you were, it would be several hundred dollars. I came here to get sparkly clean and scrubbed til my skin is red and I got exactly that. I paid in credit card and tiped on the credit card... they didn't charge me anymore for using it. ABSOLUTELY AHHH-MAZING! My first time here and I decided to do the $140 Scrub+Full Herbal Pack+Jojoba Oil Massage. I'm trained in lomilomi and am familiar with different massage techniques. Lee is a master of her art. I got a mixture of deep tissue, cranial sacral, lymph drainage, reflexology, Swedish, and other modalities that were worth WAY more than what they charge. If you want the feel good surface layer fluff, go get a regular massage elsewhere. If you want REAL therapeutic massage that will affect you on a profound health level, this is the place. I made my next appointment and tipped Lee $40. She was worth it and so am I. read more

Loess spa was Ahhhmazing! We spent about 3 hours in the spa getting pampered, best girls day out. You walk in and put your stuff in a locker that they provide. They give you a towel and tell you to go in the spa area. You undress (yes you are naked the entire time, very liberating) shower and then dip into one of the hot or cold pools (more like large baths). Then after 15-20 minutes they call you over to get to work. They start with a full body scrub. Full.body.scrub. These ladies do not miss an inch on your body. After an hr of good scrubbing they have you rinse off. Then it's time for the heavenly massage. I like a deep tissue massage, so this was perfect, she really worked out all the kinks, even places I didn't know I had kinks. After the massage she gave me a cucumber facial, it was awesome. While my cucumbers sat on my pores she thoroughly washed and conditioned my hair, and got a scalp massage, epic. The only reason this is getting 4 stars instead of 5 is because the lady at the front was rudish when we left. She yelled at my friend for writing in a $20 tip after she ran her card. When my friend explained she didn't have cash for a tip the lady asked me if I could cover my friends tip. I thought that was pretty messed up considering between the both of us we had just spent $270 there. read more

Your clothes come off (yes all of it) and you'll be soaked, scrubbed, massaged and relaxed and clean as ever. These woman work so hard and do an awesome job at what they do. This spa is amazing, therapeutic, and such an incredible deal! I wish i could go every month. It is right around the corner from my work. My friend and I went on Friday evening after work and it wasn't too busy. This was our second time going and this time we used the facilities more. We checked in and this time added the reflexology massage to our scrub/massage package for only $20 more. We showered and then entered the hot pool. I alternated between the hot and cold pools for about 10 minutes then we went into the steam sauna. Our treatments started on the tables in the scrub area. I swear by the end of the treatment every square inch of my body was scrubbed or massaged at least 5 times over. The reflexology was done during the herbal wrap portion...it helped reverse some of the damage from wearing heels all the time. When we came in I asked for a strong massage. Hana, my therapist, did not disappoint. The pressure was deep and relaxing. The facial was great and she used some lavender in the oil which was even more wonderful. Hair washing was very nice and I was feeling like a queen by the end of it. After treatment, we showered again, sat in the dry sauna, and then we laid on the hot jade floor in the loess room until we couldn't take the heat. I think that I will try to go there for the scrub/massage package at least quarterly. I wish medical insurance could cover this! It is definitely therapeutic and I feel so detoxed and relaxed. read more

This review is based on 3-4 months ago. Loess Spa was an okay place. Decent amount of parking so that's a plus. Personally, there are a few things that will prevent me from going back. As soon as you walk in you're at the reception area and locker room. You can see naked people getting dressed. My only concern is, what if a guy walks in the door while you're getting changed? There were guys in that building that worked there. There's no door or privacy curtain for the locker room. The power went out when I was there. It was out for about 20 minutes. I just waited for it to cut back on but that kinda ruined my "relaxation." I love hot pools & saunas but this hot pool was seriously hot. I couldn't sit in there for more than 3 minutes at most. I was burning myself sitting in there trying to adjust. I would recommend the temperature needs to go down atleast 5*. I loved the actual steam sauna. It was amazing.. However the bowl of plants/herbs in the sauna made it very unpleasant with its strong smell. Also, there was a cockroach. The other saunas were okay. They weren't really hot enough to do anything for me so I stayed in the steam when I could. Finally got my massage and the jojoba oil facial. It was okay. I've had better. The facial caused me to break out too. read more

Don't judge a book by it's cover entrance to the spa is a bit shabby. But it was so worth it. I have been to the Herbal Spa spent the same amount of money but got a lot more pampering. I had the deluxe package lavender massage and foot massage. I feel like a new person. Just so everyone is clear you are naked but it is all women and no one is there for a beauty pageant. This place was pretty good, although I have to say I'm spoiled by the Korean Spa near me which is the largest in the US. There are two small pools, one hot, one cold, a sauna and a steam room, both pretty small. I asked for the complete package, massage, facial and scrub and definitely think I got the out-of -town tourist price because it seemed very steep ($260) for only 3 services. I didn't even get the cucumber face treatment, which is one of my favorites because I was getting a facial, not cool. The facial by Sarah was really good- she did a good job, except that she kept slapping my cheeks, not in a hard hitting manner, but in a weird way that left them almost sore and bruised. If I lived nearby I would definitely go back and give it another try. read more

At first we were a little uncomfortable but everyone including the regular customers were very friendly and helpful. We all got the Scrub and Aroma Oil Massage for $120.00 plus tip. (tip at the end) Definitely the best $120+ I have spent!! I have been to other high end spas like The Grand Wailea, and yes they are beautiful, but I have never felt so pampered and scrubbed as I have experienced here!! My favorite Korean bathhouse in town. I freaking love their cold (more like freezing) and hot pools, and the sauna of course. I can spend hours there, taking break outside in their lounge area, watching TV, snacking, taking naps. And they stay open late! They don't close the door till midnight and once you're in, you can stay however long you like. I prefer to go late because few people are around. And when i leave, i don't have to deal with any traffic. I can just have a quiet drive home and jump into bed feeling amazing about my body. I just wish that they offer some kind of group/living social deals like other bathhouses so i can go even more often! read more

It was my first time there and everyone was super nice and helpful. There wasn't many people there on a Monday afternoon so I had the charcoal and yellow mud saunas to myself. I am so happy they are back up and running! Our experience was amazing! My cousin and I did package #3 yesterday and I can't wait to go back already lol. The spa was nice and clean, sauna was hot, and the ladies doing the scrubbing was strong! Just how we like it! I think it was the owner, she informed us that they'll be making a cafe area there soon, so you can get your scrub/spa day done as well as relax with a nice refreshment afterwards. COVID protocols were in place as well, you arrive with masks on, temps done, sign in, she hands you a towel, wrap, and slippers to wear. Once inside you change into the wrap and head straight to the showers before enjoying the hot/cold bath soak or sauna room. Everything needs to be washed from head to toe and she made sure we understood that lol. My body is so glowy! Been here once. It's a small jimjilbang in Kalihi. Prices are ok compared to other places here. Purchase everything at the front desk. I loved the cold pool inside. I got the scrub and oil massage. The scrub was excellent. I felt so clean afterward. I didn't love the sauna rooms that weren't in the pool rooms. They don't give you shorts and t-shirt like in Korea. I would return. read more

Loess Spa is wonderful. Not fancy, but a true Korean Bath House. Nakedness everywhere, but no one really looks at you. Unless I bring a friend with me I am usually the only Haole in the place. Etiquette is to shower with soap as soon as you enter the spa room, then proceed to the steam room. When your blood has reached the boiling point, go out and scoop water out of one of the various basins (various temperature water as well) and rinse yourself off. Then it is into the pools. One is scorching hot and one is icy cold, and at first I thought I would never be able to go into either, but by working back and forth between them I was soon able to tolerate both with ease. My preferred ajumah is Young. She has taken care of me for two years now and I really like her. I always get the basic scrub/baby oil massage. I had been on the mainland for eight months, so the amount of dead skin she scrubbed off of me was appalling! I am 77, have had a lot of sun exposure, so am covered with "barnacles", but the scrub gets rid of all of them. In the past my treatment has finished up with an icy cucumber masque, but this time Young used a cold mud, and I was amazed that the wrinkles on my face were definitely minimized! I first went to Loess on the recommendation of Korean friends, who said it was the best spa on Oahu. Just once since first going to Loess I went to the spa at the Aulani, paid $300 for significantly less benefit. Skip the fancy spas! I will keep going to Loess. By the way, my Korean friends tell me that women with beautiful skin are scrubbed and polished on a weekly basis. I usually go monthly, but think I will step up the treatments. read more

The best full service spa I ever went. I felt like one of those goddess where someone clean you and expecting nothing... I had the deluxe package and for $180 the cheapest and very good full service I ever got. Expensive spa like mandara and other hotel is nothing compared with Loess. the place may not look upscale but I feel that the service makes up for it. they don't hold back on the supplies too, such as oil and scrub. not like high end spa that used brushes or just dub everything to control the portion. I really feel that my skin rejuvenated from all the oil she used on my body because. I was not only soaked from it, but also the oils were leaved in for at least 30 minutes. my whole service took about 3 hours and she used variety of oils, gave me a full body massage, used a very good face mask while I get the massage. I will definitely come back again to this place. The best part, it's 5 minutes drive from where I live. read more

i checked out loess spa and umji spa. loess is bigger and has more hot rooms (charcoal and yellow clay). the steam and sauna are so nice and hot too. i didn't get the asian body scrub here but from my experience they're all kind of similar and i'm sure they do a good job here too. i got a facial/massage combo with sarah instead which was great. read more
