My husband got a Manhattan which was way better than the one he had earlier in our trip. I didn't love my drink, I went for something that wasn't overly sweet. A Galena classic and for good reason! They call themselves a Greek steakhouse. I would a consider them to be a super club as well! When you walk in you can expect dim lighting with candle lit tables, walls covered unique pieces, and a rustic log cabin theme that somehow still feels a bit elegant. It is very true to the area. Our service here has always been fantastic. They are very friendly but also do a good job. As for food, I have enjoyed everything I've had here. Both their steaks and seafood are excellent. I enjoy starting my meal with the flaming green cheese! It adds a fun flair to any meal! Along with the meal, I really enjoy their cocktails. I went out to dinner at the Log Cabin Steakhouse with my husband & his friends. Both my husband & his friend's group were celebrating their birthdays together. The Log Cabin Steakhouse is a wonderful upscale steakhouse with some Greek menu items located right downtown in Galena, IL long running since 1937. I recommend getting a reservation ahead of time as it was really packed especially on weekends! I loved the overall experience & ambience of the Log Cabin Steakhouse everything from the drinks, food, service, & atmosphere! It is dimly lit inside which reminded me of an old fashion speakeasy with rustic log cabin decor, random nostalgia decor from the past, & even wall art in the corner of notorious mobster Al Capone who used to come to the Galena area during the prohibition days. My friends ordered the "FLAMING SAGANAKI" which is a Greek fried cheese appetizer adding brandy and flambéing the cheese with the tradition of customers shouting "Opa" as the cheese ignites! I highly recommend it as the Saganaki is a super fun tradition & delicious! Each dinner entree comes with a delicious complimentary fresh salad, choice of baked potato , hand cut fries, hash browns or Greek fries. You also receive a delicious crisp veggie platter and yummy bread prior to your main course!!! While waiting for my main course I really enjoyed my expresso martini which has to be one of the best expresso martinis I have ever had!!! My husband and I both ordered Ribeyes prepared Greek style with Greek seasoning which were massively huge, delicious, tender steaks!! We ordered sides of fried shrimp which were huge fried deliciousness! I ordered the Greek fries which are thin sliced potatoes, with feta, lemon, & Greek seasoning which I honestly must be the only person who didn't care for them. Mine were soggy, bland, and not hot. My friend ordered the Greek style lamp chops and she let me try some...the lamb chops were perfectly cooked and tender! For dessert I had a mint Grasshopper ice cream dessert cocktail which was absolutely the best!!!!! As a recap, I recommend going here for an overall great upscale steakhouse dining experience! Absolute gem of a supper club! Recommend trying to get reservations but if you plan accordingly, as in your need to hydrate before dinner, then hit the bar whilst you're waiting for your table. This was my second time at this restaurant and the quality of the service and food was wonderful! Ambiance is very nice, service is very good. We enjoyed everything we ate. The maître d' (I'm assuming that was his role) needs to be checked though. He gets so busy trying to schmooze and impress people that others get forgotten and literally ignored. They lost my reservation which was annoying but they did seat us. We waited in the bar for a few minutes and I watched him go around the bar talking to people...he kept touching people...it was weird. Not like to tap them to get past, but like resting his hand on multiple women's backs while he spoke to them. I saw this happen to several people around the room before he got to us, so I was prepared and expecting it to happen, it still made me super uncomfortable even though I knew it was coming. Husband and I took a little impromptu road trip to put some miles on our new car. We had never been to Galena and weren't sure what to expect and had no plans. TBH, I grumbled a bit when my husband picked Log Cabin, which seemed like probably the most expensive place on the strip. BUT....I'm glad he did!! I loved the old school feel to the place - nice and intimate with a cozy bar and dining area. I had the steak kabob done greek style and it was delicious!! Perfect size portion. He had the rib eye. The pork chop looks amazing and I'm kicking myself for not ordering that! We really love a place with an old school relish tray so that was fun. And the service was GREAT - the best we've had since pre-covid. If we make it back to Galena some day we'll probably definitely stop here again. read more

So I was about to say I was disappointed after ordering prime rib at 6:45 and being told it was out,and instead ordering a bone- in rib eye medium rare and seeing it looked more like medium when I cut it. Then I put a piece of that steak in my mouth. I thought I had died and gone to Heaven. It turned out to be just a tad more than MR and it was beautifully grilled and perfectly seasoned - maybe the best steak I've had in years. Think back to the old Wisconsin Supper Clubs and you'll have a good picture of what the Log Cabin Steakhouse is like - and we mean that in a good way. We called a bit late and were told that they weren't taking any more reservations for our Friday, but they'd try to handle walk-ins ... so we showed up early right at 5 pm and were seated promptly. This is the time to go. Nice selection of steakhouse food - good solid steaks, a few fish items, large double-cut pork chops, and lamb chops, etc. Most all the meals come with a nice-sized salad (or soup), loaf of bread, and small relish tray. You will get enough to eat here. They have a nice little bar on your right when you enter, and they have a nice selection of beers, wines, and anything else that might touch your fancy. After sharing a shrimp appetizer (4 star very good with a nice horseradish-laced sauce), one of our party had the fried shrimp (4 star good, and with 7 or 8 shrimp well more than one could eat), another had the Bit of Each (4 star wonderful tastes - a small filet and a double cut pork chop), and the last in our party had the BBQ ribs (yes, 4 star fall-off-the-bone ribs with a nice sweet-side sauce). While we were there they had to have served a dozen Flaming Saganaki dishes - they smelled wonderful and were very much the hit of the floor. We'll try this next time too. Came in for dinner on our last trip to Galena. In fact, every time we come to the area, dinner here is a must for us. We walked by their outdoor dining area a couple of days before and definitely wanted to try that out. We had our dogs with us and hoped that with the tables being situated on a side street that they'd be able to have them with us. Unfortunately we were told that Galena no longer allows dogs with outdoor dining per the health department. Disappointing, but not the restaurant's fault. Other than that, we had a great experience. My husband just loves their chopped sirloin and our server, Armani, made sure that the kitchen was careful with his food allergies. My mom had the ribeye that was more than enough to share and I had the filet and shrimp. All of the steaks were on par with the all of the best steakhouses - So juicy, and so tender. Well our trip to Galena was slow going but long well deserved and coming. We arrived on the Friday before Valentine's Day. I won't go into everything we've done since we arrived because this review is about our experience with Ms. Jenny Hernandez (our server) and the Log Cabin family. The menu here is simple, straight to the point and serves up the heart of Greece right here in Illinois. We ordered two meals one for the dining experience and one to go. Dining in we had the 18 oz Rib eye on the bone with king crab legs at market rate. (Mouthwatering) we had the two chops entree to go. And because we ordered food to go we tried all of the potato varieties, garlic mashed, Greek fries and regular frees. Rose had the beef and barley soup and I the side salad. I asked for Kalamata olives on the side for my salad...OMG! There is only one other provider of the kalamata olive that is good enough to make you slap your mother and then pray to God almighty and ask for forgiveness...but the olives were orgasmic. I'm glad I ordered the feta and olives to go. Ok ok...you should be hungry now if your reading this and I have to say the portion sizes are comparable we were not cheated at all...if quality is a sign of you getting what you paid for then you should know it was worth every penny. Came here during our visit to Galena for the weekend during covid times & they very well followed guidelines. It is a Greek, fine/casual dining restaurant. Very romantic as it is dimly light & had the airy ambience. We weren't too hungry as we had a late lunch, so we shared the prime rib, which was 18oz. Also had the fried cheese appetizer, which was cool to watch it go up in flames! Then also had bread, side salad &, or soup to share. Right away when you walk in, you feel like family -- one of the owners greeted us and was so friendly! We chose a booth which was "cozy" but again, very supper club vibe in my opinion. We started with the flaming cheese -- Saganaki -- oh my god, it was fantastic! You have got to start with it and they make it so fun by having everyone yell "Opa" when they light it on fire. They also serve bread, soup or salad, and a relish platter. The relish had a yummy cheese dip. Three of us ordered the ribeye -- two ordered theirs greek style which was a unique take on a great steak. We all commented on how juicy the steak was for a ribeye, they were cooked perfectly and didn't seem to have as much fat as usual. My husband's filet was also super tender and juicy. The baked potatoes were good but the greek potatoes were fantastic -- thinly sliced potatoes that were slightly crispy but soft on the inside with some seasoning and lemon juice. They were unique and yummy. We also split the chocolate cake which was huge and very good! We loved this restaurant and would definitely come back. I really hate to leave this review because a couple of people recommended this place. First, it gets packed quick, so go early or make a reservation. Two, the venue is not that big. Three, the food really wasn't that great. Both the steak & pepper kabobs and the Greek chicken meals were lacking a lot of flavor. Texture of steak was good, the chicken was really black inside so it was sort of hard to eat. The Merlot from Washington was ok, it was thin and I was looking for one full of body.
