I was visiting a classmate of mine who is from Türkiye, and she had been gifting me sweets from this particular store because she knows how much I love lokum. I am so glad she finally took me here (so we could gossip about our former classmates), as it is such a cute place and is the perfect place to buy gifts. We had tea and bread, and the tea came with sugar (I normally drink my tea unsweetened but do as the Turkish do). We were able to sit outside and bask in the sun, and the very kind server helped bring out our orders to our table. I will say that I was a bit shocked how far out the tables were (they were practically in the bike road). There are various Turkish goods to buy here, so I picked up a towel for my mom. Lokum Turkish Delight & Baklava is a beautiful hidden gem on State Street in the 805. I was greeted by two staff which one of them was the manger Sercon who also gave me a few samples, both of them was very nice friendly plus helpful, they suggestion a few and I ended up getting the hazelnut Turkish coffee. This place is really beautiful plus with a tiled floor huge chandeliers lighting, a variety of Turkish delights, coffee, tea, household Items, jewelry. My Turkish coffee which was a 4oz small cup was $6 kinda expensive for the size, it was OK, my coffee taste buds are used to Vietnamese coffee, but when I return next month I can't wait to try their tea & Baklave. read more

Cute spot with really good variety of desserts. Still not sure why they call the lokum "Narnia" but it's fine. We tried several flavored lokum and some tea. Lokums were really good ... When I walked into this store I was amazed! The decore and lights are so pretty and aesthetically pleasing! They have many treats to choose from but the one that caught my eye was the viral Dubai chocolate that was 24.99, don't get me wrong it tasted great but the package was 2x bigger than the actual chocolate bar which was definitely a disappointment considering how much we paid for the smallest amount of chocolate. Most Americans have never even seen Turkish delight let alone the selection here. Get ready for a flavor explosion! I can't even pick my favorite flavor because there's so many delicious ones. I'm drooling thinking about it and I don't like drooling in front of everyone. This is so fabulous you've got to go in there. They do Turkish coffee. The staff is very friendly. They use massive shears to cut the Lukum, which is extremely entertaining. They do baklava of every shape size and iteration. This is a beautiful dessert shop for all things Turkish! My friend wanted me to try their Dubai Chocolate and it comes at a hefty price of $25 per bar. The chocolate bar was chunky and thick, but once you have a bite, the pistachio and knaff crunch is amazing. Super indulgent and very sweet but it is delightful. Something similar we tried and I actually preferred was their other dessert in the display case once you enter. It was described to us as a roll with honey as the wrap and we even got a sample which was very kind. We got the Chocolate Pistachio as well and it had almost the same ingredients but the taste was chewy which I loved! We did get a coffee but we weren't too fond of it, I'd rather stick to the desserts but overall I'm glad to have tried the Dubai Chocolate from here at LOKUM and their other sweets as well. read more

BEAUTIFUL! The decor, the desserts, and the drinks. Everything. Parking was a challenge because it's downtown Santa Barbara. But once you get parking your on the way. All the pastries were so lovely you almost don't want to eat them. ALMOST! They have many flavors of baklava, my favorite was the pistacio. This spot is so cute!!! Loved all of the trinkets and classic Turkish style. The desserts from the region are just so unique and s worth trying. I ended up buying a few: the rose pistachio, saffron pistachio, tiramisu and one pistachio baklava. Every single one was so unique in flavor. I was surprised by the nougat style tiramisu one, I really enjoyed it! The gentleman that was helping me was also so nice and gave me little samples of a couple of the ones I was debating between. Came here for a Mother's Day outing. My hubby brought me here. I was craving coffee and a desert. Stopped at this location and was blown away by their deserts. They had these fruit logs that were just outstanding. I also had a chocolate Dubai slice of cake and my hubby had the cheese baruk. Delicious!!! My coffe was a strawberry coffee and my hubby had a hazelnut coffee. Would come back here over and over again if it was closer to me. But I will make sure I come here on a days trip more often. I must preface this by saying I've never had Turkish coffee or delights prior, so I have nothing to compare to. That said, Lokum made for a great experience. We got: single Traditional Turkish coffee, single Hazelnut Turkish coffee, Chocolate pistachio Turkish Delight. I enjoyed the coffee and the accompaniments I selected. The ambiance was so wonderful that I sipped the small drink slower than usual to soak it all in. The whole shop is beautifully decorated with gorgeous glass lamps and many middle eastern goods available for purchase. There were many Turkish delights options and the works were patient with us in allowing us samples until we selected what we wanted. If you buy a custom box, they take care to present arrange and present the candies nicely. A bit pricy, but it's a unique gem in Santa Barbara. read more

So my only experience with Turkish Delights are the sugar covered fruit flavored cube shaped candies in boxes that you get from the market. While I was strolling through State St. I saw this shop and it looked so intriguing that I walked in to have a look. I saw the wonderful varieties of baklava upon entry, but around the corner was the show stopper... rows and rows of rectangular bars of beautiful works of edible art. Totally reminded me of those loaves of handmade soap that you can cut into slices. I didn't know what they were, and when I asked the employee, he said those were the Turkish delights! Wow! There were so many flavor combinations to choose from, with ingredients like hazelnut, pistachio, chocolate, coconut, saffron, rose, etc. Further down the counter, they also sold the sugar covered cube ones that I was familiar with. I was told that the fancier ones are a modern take on the Turkish delight. I was offered to taste a couple flavors and loved it! I purchased a few flavors, each serving is about an inch and a half thick which they cut off the bar with giant shears. I love the chewy-ness of the candies with the combination of the crunch of the nuts or fruit. They also serve coffee and other desserts at a different counter, but the lokums (Turkish delights) are the main attraction. Prices are a bit steep at about $9.50 per pound, and you can mix & match your selection. Definitely stop by if you are in the area to try some of their lokum - they really are delightful! read more

We have been to this location several times, since we have a child at UCSB. On today's visit we were greeted by an employee, who was very nice. We had a few questions and the employee asked what looked like the store manager. He was so rude to his employee infront of the customers, then I tried to ask him a question and he answered with attitude. I did not get his name or anything, but we walked out without buying anything. I do not know the manager's name, but I did notice the nice burgundy Rolex he was wearing. Their stuff is good, prices are a little high, but for us service is everything. There was no reason for him to treat his employee like that. read more

This was my first time trying Turkish delights, and although they were not my cup of tea, the baklava selection more than compensated. I ended up selecting 4 turkish delights (pistachio, rose, 2 assorted) and 2 baklava. Turkish delights weren't too sweet, rose was very flavorful, but again, I don't think I'm partial to them. The baklava was quite tasty, crisp layers with a generous quantity of nuts - again, not too sweet. First time trying Turkish sweets and tea. The tea was super dense and packed with flavor. The tea is steeped a lot more than tea that I am used to and the strength of the bitterness resembled something more like coffee. Personally I loved that. The pastries were very sweet so taking small bites and alternating with a small sip of tea was perfect. On their own they might be too strong of flavors but together they work really nice. COFFEE REVIEW ONLY Unfortunately, I was not a fan of our coffee. The taste was quite muted and no spoon for keep mixing as the bottom was topped with the coffee grains. Also, I think their outdoor seating chairs may need an upgrade? When I sat on them, I could just smell body odor from the seats which isn't the most pleasant. Amazing ambiance and tea blends. I really enjoy the baklava and the sample of turkish delight i got to try. This place is on the pricey side which is fine as long as the quality matches the spend. I got the chocolate dubai cake and it was horrendously dry. My friend got the pistachio rose cake and also insanely dry. Each slice was $13.66 (with tax). I wish i could have gotten my money back for my slice. Two days later i still have it in the box but it's really inedible. I would stick with the baklava and teas! read more

Wow! A lovely little gem on busy State Street that I've fallen head over heels for! I hadn't had Turkish sweets since my trip to Turkey a few years ago, and I missed it dearly. Lokum was my little reminder of how much I missed it! Walking in, the store is beautifully-decorated in lamps and a long row of colorful, enticing Turkish delights. I opted for a few baklavas to try (walnut, pistachio roll, and traditional) and Turkish delights (chocolate-brownie, rose-peanut, pomegranate, and chocolate-banana). Paired with some strong Turkish tea, and we were ready to indulge... To be honest, I wasn't a huge fan of the baklava; I found them to taste weirdly pasty and mushy, lacking that subtle crisp from the phyllo dough layers. However, the Turkish delights were an utter delight! The chocolate-brownie was my favorite by far, and I loved the chewiness of the outside and the creamy inside-- definitely go for the cream-filled Turkish delights; you won't regret it!
