I used Lolas Bistro as the caterer for my wedding. I was so pleasantly surprised by how affordable this option was compared to the other place I initially looked into. The Caesar salad was great and they offered gluten free options for their breaded chicken entrees (only ten dollars extra). I know my family who lives in town loves getting dinner there and have had many gatherings in house as well. Definitely worth considering Lola's for your next event or night out! Went to Lola's bistro & grill tonight and it was amazing. The service and food were excellent I enjoyed the monkfish as my dinner and started with French onion soup which was tasty with hot melted cheese over the top. The monkfish was sautéed with mushrooms and tomatoes served with veggie and mashed potatoes. I would recommend trying it was delicious portion are very generous . I had to take home some of this because I was so full. This place is a must try. read more

I give this a 3 but it definitely has potential for more. The atmosphere is nice. On a Saturday night, everyone in the place was happy and smiling. Our mushroom appetizer and arugula and beet salad appetizer were very good. They fell down on the entrées though. They stuffed shrimp was very disappointing.The too-small shrimp were terribly overcooked and overwhelmed by bland seafood stuffing which was almost entirely bread. My wife's risotto was a paste , although the scallops were delicious. I wonder if the risotto Was made to order. I really like this place though. It had a very friendly feel and I can't help but think that the risotto was somebody's goof. (The stiuffed shrimp can't be saved if they stick with the current method. ) The prices are very reasonable, especially considering that it is BYOB. I will return for another try the next time I'm in that area. read more

A style that seems to a little more geared toward a trip to a tgifridays or when walking through mall (Not what I was expecting here). I was eagerly waiting to hear if Nikki Minaj was going to come on while I was waiting for my bread. I was sadly let down. Server: Erika. Attentive but not overbearing. She noticed we didn't bring a wine key so she offered to open it for us, which was nice. First course: mussels and chorizo: light, flavorful, mussels cooked correctly. The smoked paprika brodo was ok but I found the chorizo to be little on the dry side and had a taste that was more like a kielbasa. House bread was ok. Not sure if they make it in-house, and we didn't ask, but It came out cold, which was disappointing since nice toasty Bread goes great with mussels...or any dish for that matter. Served with prepackaged butter pats and some kind of chopped herb dip which was nice. Scallops and butternut squash risotto: Scallops were cooked nice, risotto: heavy with the squash, kind of bland and erring on the side of too al dente. Pork shank: Dry, bland, like it was boiled in water for 4 hours, instead of slow braised for 8 in a nice wine. The accompanying jus tried to help, but it was lacking strength. Dessert menu: Verbalized as 3 items...Ny cheesecake, chocolate cake, tiramisu. We didn't order anything for fear it was bought from a distributor as opposed to homemade. We believe this may be the reason why they cut off the music while we were still finishing our wines...A move we viewed as both good and bad. read more

I can't say enough good things about Lola's! I hosted a baby shower in their private room and from the start they were so great to work with that it was a joy! The owners are delightful. The food is fantastic. Their staff is stellar. Their customer service is first rate and the young man Devin who worked our event was simply outstanding - he was tireless and right there anytime I needed him. Anything we needed they were right there to provide. And, they packaged all the leftovers up for me - nice plus to not have to cook that night! They have great brunch, lunch or dinner buffet menus and they are priced very reasonably. We were able to bring in our mimosa's and wine for the ladies and they let us use their drink dispensers and pitchers - they really made it easy. And, I love the BYOB factor - it's nice not to have to pay $12 for a glass of wine that costs $12 for a bottle! I highly recommend them for your next party! We were just here for a family event. Usually food isn't the best in large quantities but the food here was amazing! Finally got a chance to have dinner at Lola's and it was great. Small place that was very busy on a Friday night. We shared a French onion soup and it was fantastic. For dinner I had pappardelle with a delicious red sauce nice sized shrimp scallops and clams. I've easily paid upwards of 25 dollars for a dish like this. We also had scallops with a butternut squash risotto this had 5 or 6 nice sized scallops cooked perfectly and the risotto was very good. We brought a couple beers and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner the service was great. The prices are very good for the portion sizes you get. I will definitely be back!! read more

Had dinner there last night for a friends birthday. The food was delicious however the service was lousy. We were a party of 11 sitting at a table for 8 so we were very close. We had an unexpected guest come in and they had us squeeze together to fit him in. There was an empty table much larger but we were told we couldn't sit there even though it was not reserved. We brought our own cake and plates and cut it ourself, but we were charged $2.00 per person for cutting the cake which we did. It's a shame that one has to be nicked and dimed to death when you are expecting to go out to a better than average restuarant for a special occasion! Good luck to you but many of us had decided that Lola's will not be at the top of our list for a return visit. read more

My fiancé and I have wanted to check this place out for quite some time since we live right down the road. I am so happy that we did! I got the sausage and apple stuffed chicken and my fiancé got the potato gnocchi and meatballs. The portions were huge and both dishes were phenomenal! What a great find in an out of the way spot in Plainville. Nice place. Great service. Patio was very nice. Lamb chops were delicious. My wife got the shrimp and said it was cooked perfectly. This place is the best little hidden gem in the area! I've been here many times and have always had a great meal. Making a reservation is key as the place is pretty small and usually always full. The portion sizes are huge (the small pasta plates are more than a dinner sized amount for me) and the best part.... BYOB!
