Great spot for a cup of coffee and a bite to eat! I have a soy allergy and when ordering my latte they double checked the oat milk they use to make sure there's no soy product which I really appreciated. The avocado toast was perfect! The food and drinks came out quickly but I will say that we did go early in the morning. I think they get pretty busy so I'm not sure how fast things go when they're busier. I absolutely love the fresh food, the service, and the old timey ambiance of Lola's cafe! As a New Yorker of 15 years, I feel at home here. Their ability to remember regulars' orders and their attention to detail is of high quality service. I get so much work done here as I feel comfortable like I'm in my second home. I'm always happy to see Evelyn running around. She surely runs the show when in! Carla always has a huge welcoming smile on her face, and Mel makes my coffee to absolute perfection! Matt the owner is always fun to chat about music with and his realness is so refreshing. As somebody who also works in the hospitality business, I appreciate this little cafe so much. The food is above bar. They use fresh ingredients, no seed oils, and they have plenty of gluten free options, too. Their fresh breads and pastries are to die for, and their coffee is incredible. I just love this little gem in Ladera and I'm always happy to see the familiar faces working there. This is like home away from my home kitchen! Overall, everything was good. The breakfast pizza with gluten free dough was recommended by an employee. I was hesitant, but we ordered it. What a gem! Lola's has the charm and cozy atmosphere (check the pictures) that I love to find in a cafe along with wonderful food, coffee, and personal service. I got the breakfast burrito and the pairing of flavors was top notch with tasty meat and cheese, avocado, and sweet potato hash browns - what a combination! I typically do not really care for sweet potatoes but this was fantastic and will be my go-to order - seriously! Next: coffee, oh so yummy. I got the last day, I believe, of summer flavor and this end of summer memory will stay with me...at least until I can get a fall flavor. Usually love this place, but today I ordered a turkey sandwich & halfway through noticed mold/rotten turkey. For the cost of this sandwich/coffee, I wouldn't expect this, as it is pretty pricey. I expect much higher quality standards. This in particular just makes me sick. Also, my iced hazelnut latte was only 3/4 full. Awful experience. So, I always want to love this place. I've come several times because their treats and food is good, but the service timing is insanely long. Today, 3 patrons were already sitting with their items, we walked in alone. Ordered 2 hot drinks which took 15 minutes for the barista to make. It was almost comical watching him move with sloth like pace, it's almost like you have to be purposeful to be that slow. I understand this isn't a Starbucks with a conveyance, but 15 minutes for a cappuccino and hot chocolate is a little silly. Let me start off by just writing about the PEOPLE at Lola's. When I entered, there was a flustered lady just before me who needed a jumpstart on her car (she wasn't there for coffee). The staff kicked into action and put her needs in focus to see if they could help her. That was a really good sign of a business that wants to be a citizen in their community. The other thing I wanted to highlight was that the owner, Matt, approached me during breakfast complimenting me about my Yelp photos and asking to use them. YES what a compliment to me! Please, anything I can do to help! This isn't the Tom Douglas celebrity-chef Seattle restaurant, this is a cute community cafe obviously designed around getting people together. Great art adorns the walls and tables and the food is tastefully and healthily prepared and presented. I had an excellent Deconstructed burrito bowl - did you know Breakfast Burritos could be healthy? Yuppp - Turkey Bacon, Avocado, Sweet Potato Tots, Arugula...delicious and guilt-free. They also have some great coffees. I had a Cappycino which is spiced with some chocolate and cinnamon and also La Vie en Rose which is also just fantastic. My first time here and my only regret is that I didn't come here sooner. I ordered the lox sandwich for breakfast and it was fantastic. I'm picky on lox sandwiches and it is hard to impress me. I wish I had taken a photo of the dish, because the presentation was so nice on a wood block. I also ordered the chocolate coated cookie. Sorry I can't remember the name of the cookie. It too was very good. Never tried anything like it before. The other thing that impressed me was the customer service. When I put in my order the incoming orders were backed up, so my order was taking longer than normal. The manager made it up to me by giving me refill on my coffee. I'll be back soon. read more

I usually don't write reviews about places, but I had such a weird experience I figured I needed to write about it. I do not recommend this place if you are looking for a cafe to study or work at. I was sitting at the only table I could find next to an outlet doing work -- not during a rush, and I was not taking up much space -- when the owner came over. He asked if it got busy if I would leave or go to a tiny table where someone was already doing work. I go to many coffee shops and have never been asked this before, but I had been there for a while, so I agreed. He then took my supplies and moved them to another part of the table. He did not ask permission, and I'm unsure why he believed he had a right to pick up and move my items around. The experience made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable, so I left shortly afterward. read more

Unfortunately, this place hasn't gotten any better over my last few visits. I have been back a few times since my last review and it seems like cutting corners has become the norm here. I was here with my coworker and we both ordered pastries and coffee. I took a bite of my croissant and it was completely cold. I asked if they could warm it up and they said since I had already taken a bite, they couldn't. I understand the sanitary reasons why, but I feel they should have offered to warm it up before handing it to me. Most people don't enjoy cold croissants, much less one that costs as much as it did. My coworker ordered a large Americano and they gave her a small (or medium, not sure which one). When she pointed it out, they poured what was in the smaller cup into a large cup and filled the rest with ice. This place is cute, but it's just not worth it. Quite simply the most delicious French toast I have had in a long while. I enjoyed the Apple cinnamon brioche soufflé and it was just the perfect ooey gooey goodness I was craving for brunch. Lola's is like our "Cheers": a place where everybody knows your name because we can't stop going there. The employees here are absolutely some of the best I have encountered at a restaurant - especially Evelyn, who is there almost every day and goes out of her way to help us feel welcome there (she even wrote my wife a Happy Mother's Day message on her coffee). Their owner (Matt) is a really cool guy who is always down to talk music and about whatever concert he has been to in the past week (he goes all the time). He also has great suggestions on food and coffee selections (he is the guy in the front usually wearing a band t-shirts and Cleveland sports team hats). The food at Lola's is outstanding, whether it be for breakfast or lunch. They also have amazing coffee. The only downside is once you have one of their coffees, you are not going back to the cheap stuff anymore. read more

They have a lot of great choices from pastries to cold brews, lattes and a nice food menu. We tried a great delicious gourmet slice of cake from popular Cake Monkey Bakery in West Hollywood LA. Pastry chef is Elizabeth Belkin and they have been featured on Unique Sweets and in Time Out Los Angeles, Bon Appetit, LA Weekly and The Los Angeles Times. The specific slice of cake you see here is a triple berry GLUTEN FREE and it tastes fresh, amazing and love the abundance of the fruit in each layer! The ambiance is nice and the staff is very sweet and friendly. This was a nice visit and we are looking forward to coming back soon and trying their breakfast and brunch menu! It looks very nice. The cashier was super friendly and her recommendations were on point. Btw, all options in the menu looked healthy to me. I guess that's a good thing right?? 4-5 years ago this place used to have the best avocado toast I've ever had (and I've had tried many different kinds of avocado toast from other places over the years!). The prices were still a bit high and the services were on the slower side but I could justify going here because it's more of a mom & pop cafe (plus I like to support local businesses) and I LOVED their avocado toast so much. Unfortunately, now the quantity of the avocado toast is TINY!! They only give you 3 slices now when they used to give you 4 - plus the slices they do give you are paper thin when they used to be thicker/wider slices of bread. On top of that, even with lower quantity, the price for the avocado toast is now astronomical. I just don't think I can justify coming back here again, but I do wish Lola's the best!! A little disappointed in my order, ordered the bacon egg sandwich and it literally only had bacon and egg on it. It was suppose to have bacon, egg, garlic aioli, cheese and tomato. Went to the counter to ask if they can fix it and the OWNER was very defensive and did not want to fix it. Couldn't own up to it and fix the situation right off the bat.
