I know that naija food and staples maybe expensive and hard to come by but please, let's try to at least stick and uphold the menu. If the menu has "asaro" as an option, you guys should have asaro ready and made. Love this place. I've been a huge fan of Nigerian food since a very close friend introduced me to her and her mothers cooking. I usually get the Egusi with pounded yam. Good amount and pretty flavorful. Actually a former coworker introduced me to this place when we were in training years ago and even in 2018 still same good food. Jollof rice The rice was very tasty and one could enjoy that solo Stew The stew was ok but the goat was not well seasoned. Fried plantain Let's just say, I didn't touch it. It's a personal preference; I cannot handle soggy plantains. Meat pie The meat pie looked and tasted as though it had been microwaved, the dough was quite heavy and looked, felt, and tasted like bread (it should rather be a thin somewhat crusty outer layer), and the meat filling was not good at all. It's a hit and miss. One day the rice and fish can taste fresh and amazing and other days, it seems like it's been sitting so it has the burnt part of the pot in my meal. The pounded yam and whisk is always good but if you want it to go you need to remember that it's best to call again because the restaurant is not for quick meals. read more

I took a few coworkers to Lola's for lunch to try Nigerian food. I believe the overall taste of all the food is good, definitely better than other near by African restaurants. I think the downfall of this spot is their customer service, their slow speed of serving food, and answering customers. Overall, the food is good, not a date spot, more of a not so quick eat. read more

The jollof of rice was decent. The plantains were semi-raw and the chicken was inedible due to its toughness. The chicken was so tough I couldn't event bite it and threw it away. Frankly it tasted really old. I will not be back because it was such a waste of money. read more

Hands down their food took me back to my mom's cooking. The pounded yam was so soft and hot. The stew is perfect mix of pepper and oil... i had the egusi soup with goat meat and the goat meat was very soft to bite into. The waitress was super nice and also attentive so i will give them a big thumbs up. Keep up the good work guys! read more

This food was absolutely disgusting and atrocious. I ordered the egusi soup and pounded yam, the food was not seasoned and the meat was gummy and tough. On top of this, the staff and management were so rude and irritable. I tried to speak to the manager and see if something could be done since I hated my food so much she immediately scowled and demanded I still pay for it, that she could do nothing with the food except trash it in front of me. Friendly atmosphere and great Nigerian food, for when you need some delicious cows foot and tripe cooked in an okra spinach stew. Skip the silverware and eat with your hands, the traditional way, scooping it up using bits off the yam or cassava starch served on the side. read more

I usually eat here once a month without any issues. I order the same meal; goat, jilaf rice, spinach and plantains. Today I was served cold food. I informed my waitress. She comes and gets the food and brings the same food back still cold. I sent it back again and then informed the manager. He said "I'm sorry your food is not hot enough, she is warming it now". I said it's cold and just cancel it. I was very disappointed and left. I don't go to restaurants for cold or microwaved food. I expect a hot meal and great service. 2.5 stars actually... didn't really want to give 3. I saw the reviews on Yelp so I decided to give it ago since I was in the area. I'm no stranger to African cuisine so I knew exactly what I wanted to try. Came in.. restaurant is very nice and clean. Was welcome by a nice gentleman. It was around 1130ish restaurant opens at 11am. Placed my order... Egusi soup and suya...gentleman came back ans said they hadn't started to make the egusi soup and he suggested I try something similar ... Efo Riro... took him up in that with the variety meat option... looked very good... the fufu was great... warm fresh super soft... the spinach was good too... BUT... to my dismay the meat (beef) was so tough I couldn't bit threw it.. literally.. I could barely tear it apart with my fingers... so I didn't even bother... the Suya... geez.... not fresh... dry... tasted like they pulled it out of a freezer and warmed it up in a microwave and sprinkled seasoning on top... I spent almost $20 and was only able to eat $10 worth of food the Fufu and spinach dish... everyone deserves a second chance... bcuz the spinach was good I'm pretty sure the Egusi soup will be good too... hopefully the meat accompaniment will be edible... read more

Customer service is horrible. They want you keep ringing a bell as you stay needing assistance for over 30 minutes. Don't order pick up nor sit in unless you want to be handled like a dog. When they answer phone and you inquire about their menu, they rush you and wont give you much knowledge of what you are ordering. I'd say 3.5 stars. I took my 2 friends here for an exploratory birthday dinner, and it was our first experience with Nigerian food. I tend to gauge authenticity by how many people sharing the same culture as the restaurant are dining. I saw many patrons that seemed to be enjoying their food, so I'm guessing it's pretty authentic. Note: you need to eat with your clean hand (they have a sink for hand washing) as they do not really give you utensils. We got one knife, fork, and spoon for the three of us. I'm sure the two men a couple of tables away were actually laughing at us for not doing it right. It was hard not to use our "bad hand." First, I will address the food. I was really sad that they were out of puf-puf. I was most excited to try that, and came to the restaurant because I saw that they had it. Instead we ordered meat pies. They were simple and delicious. I think I could have ordered a few of those and made a meal of it. We ordered fried rice with beef, okro soup with beef and amala (yam that looks purple/brown in their pictures), and ogbono (mango melon) soup with beef and garri (cassava that looks white in their pictures). I only saw my meat options to be cow feet, beef chunks (unsure what cut), and beef tripe. No sign of chicken as an option. The fried rice had veggies and some shrimp and had a bit more spice than my friend normally prefers. Her do do (fried plantain) was a sweet contrast to the spicy rice and beef components. The okro soup was my favorite; it was nicely spiced and seasoned. It definitely has the slimy texture okra tends to give to foods, so avoid this if you hate that slimy texture. You'd have to avoid the ogbono soup as well because it also had a slimy texture. I feel there might have been a little too much oil (maybe palm oil?) for me in the ogbono. Other than that, the ogbono soup was probably the spiciest dish we ordered. I think all of us agreed that the meat was very tough, and dry for our preferences. The outside of the beef had the texture of beef jerky, but that might be how it's supposed to be. We definitely needed floss after we ate. The service is what knocks this review down. When we first walked in, the server lady definitely saw us and ignored us for about 5 minutes. We weren't sure if we were to seat ourselves or not. She disappeared into the back for a couple of minutes. When she came out I explained that this was our first time here, and were unsure if we could pick our seats and where we would find menus. She sighed and seemed to be irritated with us already. She went into the back again without telling us anything. Maybe she doesn't speak English? Another lady came out and helped us find our seats. She was very friendly, and seemed to be the cook as well. In the end, it was an interesting experience. I believe in giving restaurants second chances, and I will definitely give this place another shot to try the jolloff rice. ***Edit*** My friend wanted me to include that she has been (posterior) releasing spiciness all morning.
