Super nostalgic. I would go to Lollicup all the time when I was little, when they were one of the first franchises. I remember redeeming free drinks after filling out my stamp cards and paying in cash to avoid their credit card surcharges. The competition has grown considerably over the years, but I'm glad they are taking steps to revamp their brand and position themselves with the more trendy tea shops. Variety - The new menu looks a bit consolidated, but the amount of ingredients and customizations is endless. From slushies to smoothies to frappes, the hardest part is choosing which flavor to get. If you're not a fan of milk tea, you can choose a green tea or black tea base instead. Keeping up with the times - Looking at a map I see two Omomo locations two miles away, Sunright/Redstraw within one mile, and 7 Leaves in the same plaza. Irvine is truly the land of milk tea and honey boba... if these are your neighbors, I think it's pretty important to stay fresh and relevant. Recently Lollicup did some work on their interior, with a more modern look and inviting atmosphere. And while it's sad to see that they "retired" some menu options, it's cool to see new ones like Dalgona Milk Tea or Brown Sugar Milk. For those who prefer the classics, you can still get Thai Tea, Taro, Jasmine Milk Tea, etc. Price - Toppings (boba, jellies, egg pudding) are 50 cents. Tax is already included, which is a plus in my book. I'm not a UCI student, but their $2 boba on Ring Road is pretty infamous. But the price has definitely gone up, and it's in line with other milk tea places. Tapioca Quality - Mediocre. Horrible texture, not that pleasant to chew, and broken bits at the bottom. Which is a shame since the milk tea was pretty good. Haven't tried their twist potato or popcorn chicken yet! Don't know if I'll ever make another visit, but maybe when I feel nostalgic again. read more

Ordinarily a decent location with an occasional miss but making a review since no one picks up at their number listed on yelp (949) 387-3193) and the one on google (949) 559-9436 goes to a busy signal and I'm not driving back out there to tell them - I was in before noon today and got the Sunrise Tea and my husband got the Peach Black Tea. The tea was good! Buuuuuut I just finally left the bathroom after puking my guts out as soon as we got home. I haven't been to lolicup in years, but came recently to try the potato twists. I'm a big fan of potatos (in all forms!) but this one is disappointing. Perhaps it was because I had to wait 10 minutes before I ate mine, but there was no crunch of my potatoes. The kitchen always closes hours before closing time. I usually go there to grab something to eat, and I try to call ahead to make sure the kitchen is open, but no one ever picks up the phone. Grew up going to this very location for years. Nothing's changed... still the same good old Lollicup. Perfect for that after dinner boba / tea or your mid afternoon snack spot. This location has been here forever & the menu, interior, & everything has not changed. This place gets extremely packed (lines going out the door to the walk way) on weekend nights. They have some inside seating (if you can handle the volume of the music) & some patio seating outside. I always get their Peach black tea or their Lychee black tea no add ons. Most of my friends always get their taro with boba (option to do this hot for those chilly evenings - still just as good). They have potato twists & popcorn chicken for small bites... provide them with the level of spice you prefer, those you have to wait for them to cook. If you think you'll frequent this place, don't forget to ask for a punch card. I think you get the 10th free. The only thing that irks me the most about this place is their set up. They only have one tiny door to the counter which is also the exit & if people are lining up (which is often) - it is literally a squeeze to get in and out or even use the restroom. I believe they changed management as they've completely renovated and the quality of the tea has gone down tremendously. Lollicup is my OG boba spot, but now I like trying other shops since there are so many especially in Irvine. I find that my drinks I get here are always okay, but nothing extraordinary. Lollicup used to be super popular, but I feel like it's dying down a little. When I went at 1:30 on a weekday, it was pretty empty. I ordered the PEACH BLACK TEA (50% sweet, less ice) WITH RAINBOW JELLY. The peach black tea itself was quite good, but a little too sweet for my liking. Next time I would order 25% sweet so it's less sugary and I could taste more of the tea flavor. Unforunately, the Rainbow Jellies were pretty bad. Not QQ (chewy) at all. I've been to this tiny place a couple times and have enjoyed my drinks. The coffee milk tea was excellent with a full-bodied coffee taste and boba is always fun...sorta like chewing a caterpillar. I've also had their mango tea which I highly recommend as the mango flavor is strong; so many places serve a similar beverage with a disappointingly weak mango taste but Lollicup does it right. On my first visit I had their potato twist, a spiral cut potato on a stick. Good but far too greasy. I tried this visually fun snack again on my next visit and found it to be the same so apparently the over-oiliness is just the way they make it. This is the only Lollicup nearby that has the potato twists and you may not think that is a big deal, but it's seriously so addicting. The potato twist alone makes this worth a visit, but the great drinks are what pushes this location over the edge. That's not even mentioning the popcorn chicken. When I came in last, I usually order a variation of a milk tea, so I got a combo. The potato twist along with the drink is just a perfect mid-afternoon snack to tie you down between lunch and dinner. Another bonus is that it's also really affordable too! If you ever sat and thought "wow, I could use a snack with my drink", this is the best place to go. Great drinks and great snacks to enjoy with friends (prior to the pandemic) or even to satisfy a quick craving that you get from working at home (they are still open!). The Negatives: First boba place I've come to where they don't list the prices of their drinks anywhere. Also the first boba place where I've ordered a drink and it wasn't sealed properly. Also the first boba place where I've seen a bathroom so scarred up. Soap dispenser was also broken. The Positives: According to the cashier, they use fresh mangoes, peaches, and strawberries in their slushes. I'm assuming everything else is powders and syrups based on the visible display behind the counter. Ended up ordering the royal milk tea with boba ($3.50), which was strong and the boba was just the right sweetness and consistency, which was really the only saving grace of this place. The Irvine Lollicup is nestled in a shopping center, and not the most obvious to get to. However, just walk around until you see the gaggle of UCI students by the pond, and there it is. Unlike nearby Yogurtland, Lollicup isn't always chock full, so you probably won't have to fight against droves to get your boba fix. There's light seating inside, and it's not a bad place to take a breather. Their menu is huge. A friend and I both ordered boba tea (the cute girls behind the counter are just as bubbly as the boba) and my mango drink wasn't bad.
